Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Art of Beatbox Artur Balsam The artist “Art of Beatbox” from Hamburg shows with his music that beatbox is more than hip-hop. The artist whose family has a big musical background developed at an early age a wide range of musical preferences which are reflected in his music today. With his versatile songs he wants to show the people that beatbox music can also be suitable for radio play. He himself describes his songs as a “reflection of his own specific musical habits”. This way you can find in addition to the typical hip-hop sounds also influences from jazz, latin, house, drum & bass all the way to classical music and metal. In contrast to other beatbox producers Art concentrates more on the drum part and utilizes his voice moreover as attendance. In the year of 1998 Art had his first contact with beatboxing music. Even though it was “love at first sound” and he already wanted to learn the art of production of drum and percussion sounds with his mouth it was not easy. Finally in the summer of 1999 he met people who were able to help him. Hereby it proved that explaining the different techniques with words was nearly impossible. Therefore Art began to listen and to observe the beatboxers how they created the different kind of drum and percussion sounds with their mouth in order to also create similar sounds. Even though at the beginning everything sounded the same he tirelessly tried to create the most different kinds of sound with his mouth. With the time going past slowly some sounds were starting to sound different. After this he started to copy sounds from other beatboxers. Time after time he utilized the learned beatbox techniques to compose his own songs. The first public performance occurred in the middle of the year 2000 in Berlin. Since then “Art of Beatbox” has shown his talent at countless performances for example at live-show of “Top 815” from “Radio Hamburg” in the year of 2004 or as support for artists like “[a66152]”, “[a106719]”, “[a24211]” and “[a54619]”. Art was also present on some sound recording media, he committed himself to many beatbox events like “The German Beatbox Battle” as a member of the judges’ panel and arranges regularly workshops for beatboxing. With his dedication to beatboxing he wants to make it more public and to commit himself to the perception of this music style.

Search Add 2 Land Of Distraction Land of Distraction Land of Distraction were an 80's band formed by brothers Fitzjames and Sean Wood. Formed in Tottenham, North London. The brothers had moved to London from Lichfield, Staffordshire. As children they had lived in Africa (Kenya), Aden, (Yemen) and Berlin, Germany at the height of the cold war however although their songwriting drew on these experiences ('Steamer Point' the title of an an early song, is a location in Aden) their musical inspiration was mainly post punk. They had a polished pop sound sometimes wrongly described as 'funk' it lent itself more to synth pop. They were left wing in their political leanings. After some interest shown by publishing and record companies the band struggled to get recognition. Sean was encouraged by a friend to submit a demo tape to a newly formed record label New England Records. The brainchild of Mark Melton, New England Records signed the duo and Melton took on management duties. The song 'Distraction' was distributed by Strike Back who funded an accompanying video in 1986. Fitzjames the main songwriter and musician of the two always maintained the track was an album filler and sited 'Lovebearer' and 'It's a Lovely Day' as more likely to be hits. After some strong disputes about the way the video was produced the brothers felt they were not retaining enough artistic control. The follow up single 'Call My Name' was not finished in the studio (recorded at Woodbine studios in Leamington Spa under the production of John Rivers). Although Melton was keen to continue working with the band Fitzjames Wood opted to leave the industry and concentrate on full time bible ministry. The song 'Distraction' was written as a critique of the tabloid consumerist culture and Thatcherite Britain of the 80's. The band have put up some previously unreleased tracks on Youtube. An example of this can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yatAqKMZC6g

Search Add 2 Teatro Valdoca The Valdoca Theatre company – founded in the early eighties - is the result of the collaboration between Cesare Ronconi, director, and [a=Mariangela Gualtieri], poet and playwright. Born as a collective, the Collettivo Valdoca was a music and theatre company whose members had no defined roles. The two founders' interest for theatre developed in the seventies, when, thanks to a grant, Ronconi and Gualtieri came in contact in Poland with Kantor's works before his company, Cricot, came to Italy, participated in Wroclaw in the unforgettable Tree of People by Grotowski’s Laboratory Theatre and attended the play Apocalypsis cum Figuris performed by Grotowski’s group of actors. In the same period, in the US, they came to know the experiences of Peter Shumann with his Bread and Puppet Theater and the works of [a=Bob Wilson], [a=Richard Foreman] and the [a=Squat Theatre], recently arrived from Hungary. For the founders, however, the most surprising figure and most important point of reference was already then [a=Carmelo Bene]. Those years were characterised by a strong restlessness whose outlets were solitary travels around the world (Brazil, Burkina Faso, Spain, North America) and a long stay of the whole company in a small village in Tanzania. Since its beginnings, the company collaborated closely with the most appreciated artists of the time: mainly painters, sculptors, composers and musicians. A particular care was also devoted to the sound amplification set-up. In 1985 Valdoca, after meeting the poet Milo De Angelis, founded a Poetry School directed by him. Through the school, during its three editions, the company met with the major Italian poets: Fortini, Luzi, Bigongiari, Loi, Cucchi, Sicari, Rosselli, Merini, Majorino and others. It’s after these meetings and as a result of other defining personal experiences that Mariangela Gualtieri started writing verses, suspending her role as actress and acquiring that of playwright, while Cesare Ronconi coupled his direction with an unbroken pedagogical activity which would allow him to train directly its actors and dancers. The most distinctive trait of Valdoca's poetic is the epic character of its actors, always reaching for the super-human and the sub-human, thus stretched between hero and divinity on one side and animality, infancy and deformity on the other; by their renounce to a narrative, to social themes, current affairs and news. The actor, then, is often a dancing body, whose voice, movement and stillness is heavily loaded with expressivity. Beside the decisive role of the actor, there’s the peculiarity of the word given to him: a word that’s always poetic verse, unprecedented, fitting with the written direction, a verse often written in close proximity to the stage and to the demands of direction. The frequent presence of live music, the attention to the scene’s present, the simplicity of the projects, together with the characteristics mentioned above, transform the company’s performances into events loaded with ritual qualities, where the interplay between the scene's forces and energies lead the audience inside the experience of its vision and convert the public into a participating and listening community.
