Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

In 2011, he moved to South Africa where he formed a new band called “Café con Leche” and performed with African artists such as Mariem Hassan (Western Sahara), Ramata Diakite (Mali) and Hope Masike (Zimbabwe). During 2019-2020, he has released two new albums entitled Middle Passage and Pagoda Session. Both albums are based on a musical journey from Spain to South Africa (Middle Passage) and a historical journey from Al-Andalus to Malaysia (Pagoda Session). The international experience and musical influences during these two decades performing are reflected in his albums and live performances. As Hopeton Gordon at the A.C.E. BBC show said about Demachena, Luis ́compositions are “an exciting and unique blend of African rhythms and Latin flavours, truly something special". Besides his artistic career, Luis has been an Ethnomusicology lecturer in various Universities and conducted interdisciplinary research in three different continents from which he published many academic articles, five documentaries and two academic books.

Search Add 10 Harry M. Randel Recording engineer. Founder of [l502794] and a [l191050] Franchise Associate. {obs.} 574 West Court, Scotch Plains, New Jersey 07076 An article about Harry from Scotch Plains Times dated 25 February 1965 (pp.7 & 17) Ins And Outs About Pressing Records By Ruth B. Gilbert Facing the undeniable fact that my knowledge of electronics equals minus zero, and I wouldn't know an Ampex 620 speaker from an MX 35 mixer, it was with feminine fear and trepidation that I approached 574 West Court in Scotch Plains for an interview with Harry M. Randel. As a representative for Century Records, he operates a Custom Recording Service from his home, handling 70% of the custom school and church recordings in New Jersey. (When an individual or an organization places an order strictly for the use of the participants of the program sponsored by that group, it is known as CUSTOM recording. The records are not for general sale through distributors or record shops.) Fortunately, Mr. Randel is a patient man and accepting my total ignorance in the recording field, he undertook to explain his fascinating vocation with amazing clarity. The path which ultimately led to Harry Randers present occupation is a long one. After graduating from Lehigh University in 1940 from a curriculum of Sales Engineering, he spent a short three months as a statistician with the Pennsylvania Power and Light. In October of that year, he became a member of Uncle Sam's Army, stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds and for three years was the Senior Instructor, Aviation Ordnance. While at Aberdeen, Harry married the former Lillian Boardman and in 1944, their son James was born. Assigned to the 15th Air Force in Italy, Harry was a technical training officer and received the Legion of Merit for overseas technical developments. Following his military service, he joined the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C. as a Professional Radio Engineer. Harry recalls "as an outgrowth of this, we had the 53rd television set in Washington and every neighbor in our apartment converged on us to watch that 5 inch screen." His daughter, Suzanne, was born while the Randels were in the nation's capital. In 1945, Dumont offered Harry an opportunity to go into television. As a remote supervisor, he worked 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, and did the majority of network programs originating from Washington. He told of televising one of President Harry Truman's "fireside chats" one evening. The cameras had been set up early in the afternoon, but after rehearsing with the President, one of them developed trouble. As Harry was frantically making repairs, "some chap tapped me on the shoulder and told me I was doing it all wrong." Startled, Harry turned to find Mr. Truman himself joking with him. Harry left. Dumont in 1955 and there followed a series of positions with ACF Electronics, in Virginia; the N.J. Meter Co. in Plainfleld; Walter Kidde and Co. in Belleville and Universal Toroid Coil Winding Co. in Irvington. His interest in the recording business actually began when his son, Jim, was a child. Harry and Lillian owned a small record cutter and would cut childrens’ records for Jim …. writing the scripts and acting all the parts. When Suzanne came along, they began to put stories for her on a tape recorder. As both children grew, recording their participation in school activities became a natural thing for the Randels. In 1961, the Scotch Plains - Fanwood High School was having its Spring concert ... and since Harry had two children playing usual pattern of bringing into the auditorium his tape recorder and microphone. Here he met Art Brandenburg, Century Records Representative, who was recording the concert with professional equipment. In December of that year, Brandenburg offered Harry a recording franchise with Century and his career was born. The first program the Randels recorded was the Westfield High School Band under the leadership of Robert Banks. They started with two Sony microphones and an Ampex PR 10 professional recorder. Today's mobile operation consists of a console on wheels featuring the Ampex 354 stereo recorder, 10 microphone channels through Ampex mixers and an assortment of professional microphones ... Telefunken, Sony, Sennheiser and Electro-Voice. They are in constant demand whenever quality and legality are the paramount desires of a recording group. This is a joint venture for the Randels, Lillian handles all the paper work, keeps the books and accompanies Harry to all recording sessions where she does the timing for each number. (Not to mention the fact that she is a clerk-typist at the Junior High School library, keeps house, makes her own clothes, knits and enjoys reading in her spare (?) time!). Out of their work has grown HMR Productions, which does commercial recordings for such customers as Warner-Lambert and CIBA (sales training records) and even the sounds of gnawing termites for the radio commercials for Western Termite Control … and of course, Century Custom Recording Service. Doing approximately 60 shows a year, including among many others, the band at Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, the New Jersey Symphonic Band, Middlesex High and our own Junior and Senior High Schools. Harry does a great deal of work for the New Jersey Music Educators Association. This current school year found him recording the All State Orchestra and Chorus at Atlantic City and at the Mosque Theater in Newark. On February 28th, he will record the All State Band at Hunterdon Central High School in Flemington. Harry feels his most interesting task was with the New Jersey Music Educators' Opera Festival, This is an All State type of program, where students from some 70 to 100 schools throughout the state participate. An opera theme is selected and specific students in participating schools train under the guidance of the music educator in their school. Then on one day in February, close to 1000 students converge on a selected site. There is a single rehearsal for the chorus alone and one for the orchestra alone. This is the first time these students have ever sung or played together and probably the first time they have ever seen the musical director! Later, the two groups combine for a single rehearsal featuring soloists, chorus and orchestra in an integrated program. A polished presentation is given that night to the public. Harry was emphatic in his praise for the music teachers of our New Jersey schools and for the talented youngsters who participate in the program. In a presentation of this size and complexity, the technical knowhow and abundance of professional recording equipment as featured by Century Custom Recording Service really comes into its forte. Harry Randal is indeed fortunate to have his vocation and his vocation one and the same. He would offer his services as a lecturer on audio recording to any interested group in the area. It's impossible to completely cover the legend of Century Custom Recording Service and of the Randels in one feature article. A volume could well be filled with their story. And anyone who doesn't know an Ampex 620 speaker from an MX 35 mixer might find an exploration into the world of electronics to be informative, absorbing and thoroughly delightful!

Wandering around Iowa (with occasional sabbaticals in Texas and Minnesota) collecting field recordings of storm drains, rural graveyards and abandoned barns, primary MPA member D. Bauler began treating these tapes with magnets, solvents and modified recording equipment, adding homemade signal-damaging circuits and empty synth drones to create a string of albums on the vanity label Midwest Death Cult, most of which were then given away to strangers or left in public places. Occasional live performances took place in an empty machine shed called the Hudson Machinery Network (now dismantled) and endless anonymous basements. Collaborated with Chicago hoodlums Number None for the Damp and Damned cassette on Sloow Tapes in 2005. Thank you and good night.

Which were compiled by his pupils [a8220923] and [a10183072] Nakao Tozan was born on October 5, 1876 (the 9th year of the Meiji-Era) in Suita-Gun (present-day Hirakata City), the second son of Nakao Jirohei and his wife Mitsu. His real name was Nakao Rinzo. In 1894, at the age of 17, he became a komuso, and then, two years later in 1896, he first established a shakuhachi school in Tenma, Osaka City, in the West of Japan. This date, February 15, is now celebrated as the official founding of the Tozan-Ryu School. Nakao Tozan then embarked on a career as a performer, and in 1903 composed the first Tozan-Ryu honkyoku, Sōgetsu-chō, and in 1908 wrote and published his first shakuhachi tutor and sheet music. Compared to the older schools of shakuhachi, the Tozan style of composition must have sounded much more modern, and even in his honkyoku he often included very rhythmical two-, or sometimes three-part sections following the opening solo section, sometimes with the whole piece being written for two or more flutes right from the beginning. In 1915, at the age of 38, he toured Russia, and in the following year also gave the first of his performances in Korea and China, eventually returning to give concerts there at least ten times. In 1922, the Headquarters of the school were transferred to Tokyo. After this, Nakao Tozan met the famous blind koto master Miyagi Michio, and they toured Western Japan together, which led to the establishment of the Shin Nihon Ongaku movement (“New Japanese Music”). Together they made many revolutionary changes to Japanese traditional music. In 1930, when he was 53, Nakao Tozan ceased performing to concentrate on teaching and composition, and to nurture the next generation of Tozan performers. After the Second World War, he returned to his hometown (now renamed Hirakata), and then, in 1949, moved to Kyoto. In 1953, he was honored with the Japan Arts Academy Award for his great contributions to Japanese music, and he died in 1956 at the age of 80.

Search Add 10 Колесо Дхармы Dharma Wheel is one of the first straight edge hardcore bands in Russia. The leader and vocalist of the band for many years is Punch, who rallied the punk community of Volzhsky in the mid-90s. Since the 2000s the band has been based in Finland and performs under the name Wheel of Dharma. The legacy of the band, whose performances and first recordings date back to the early 90s, is hard to overestimate, it became a cornerstone of the DIY scene formation in Russia. The band has always taken a clear anti-fascist stance, never separating politics from music, and music from action. The band's performance at the Yebi Systema Fest, announced in 2013, did not take place. The band hasn't performed in Russia for quite a long time. Search Add 10 Ravishing Danish Death Metal act Ravishing was formed in 2000 by Michael Soergel (vocals), Michael Huhle (drums) and Kristoffer B. Olsen (guitar). Same year they played their first gig, with a rushed line-up, together with Beyond Reality and Brutal Evil. In 2001 they were joined by David Mota (guitar) and then they recorded their first demo, "Bride in Shrouds". Shortly after Jannik Thordal (bass) joined the band and then they played their first real gig with Urkraft and Beyond Reality. "Gravewhisper" was then recorded and released the following year. Afterwards Jannik Thordal and David Mota was then forced to leave the band and Daniel Breyt Low (guitar) then joined the band shortly after. Michael Soergel eventually left the band but was replaced by Julian Holm (bass, vocals). The third demo, "Rotting Process Experience", was then recorded in 2003 and more line-up changes occured. Julian Holm left the band and Daniel also had to leave for six months because he was attending a music school. Thomas E. Andersson (guitar) joined the band and was also a temporary bassist. Work began on the fourth demo, "CorpseEater", and shortly after Michael Soergel and Daniel returned and it was then released. Jess Torp (bass) joined the band and they then played a live show with Urkraft and Morfeus (now called Mindmare). They played another show with Mindmare before the end of the year and in 2004 they released demo "A Study in Psychotic Terror". Michael Soergel left the band for the second time and was replaced by Lasse B.H. Rasmussen. Shortly after Thomas E. Andersson had to leave the band for an unknown period and the band was then put on hold.

He used to play just hardtek, but also discovered more styles and began to play UK acid techno, hardfloor, crossbreed, hardcore etc.. Music is his whole life, so he also wanted to do it as his "work" . He opened his own vinyl shop, called LXRECORDS in 2002. He has really good access to all the records, so he can choose the best ones for his set…that´s the big big advantage:) His sets are full of energy, with long precise mixes, that´s why he became popular and not only in the Czech Republic, he also destroyed dancefloors around the Europe. His speciality is 3 decks pumpin´tekno set. In 2004 Dave established his own record label with the same name as his vinyl shop – LXRECORDS and started to focus on production and liveset. He released more than 10 releases on labels such as LXRECORDS, DEMONTAGE, 10TRACTION, OLD SKULL or PIRAT UNIT. Dave's tracks and sets are usually not only in one style, he prefers to mix more styles together and make a „story“. Dave also created the new project Substance-D with his friends in 2008, which is more focused on dirty electro & breaks and in 2012 his new project DEXIDE focused on neurofunk, darkstep, crossbreed and industrial hardcore.

Search Add 10 Alexey Luka Алексей Лучко (Alexey Luchko) Alexey Luka was born in 1983 in Moscow, where he currently lives and works. Among the most talented and influential young artists in the Russian contemporary art scene. With a background in architecture studies, the Russian artist developed a unique and recognizable style, based on the use of abstract geometric shapes and chromatic variations. Perfectly comfortable with different techniques, spray paints, acrylic paints, sculpture, and collage, Alexey Luka creates complex compositions in which the colors and geometric lines interact, resulting in a sort of puzzle to decipher. The observer is left, therefor, to reconstruct and consequently interpret the image, starting precisely with the colors that suggest shapes: faces, characters and landscapes alternate in a game of perception that activates our imagination. Through the composition and decomposition of the shapes and the chromatic combinations, with references to Constructivism and Neo-plasticism, the artist aims to tell a story, to evoke a situation or a vision, in an entirely unusual and original way.

Search Add 10 Tunnie Smith During the summer youth program of 1970 and 1971, a young Tunnie Smith was singled out by Father George Artist for his outstanding singing abilities. He was then introduced to Joe Delpit and Reginal Brown to sing along with their show and dance band "The 13th Amendments. It didn't take long before Tunnie was a full member of the band and became a featured singer performing throughout Louisiana. After a year and a half of performing at nightclubs, military bases and universities Tunnie landed a record deal with Rick Hall's Fame/UA record label. His first single from 1973 was a mid-tempo number entitled "Finders Aren't Always Keepers" flipped with "Do That To Me" It gained National distribution and had some good success. Tunnie left Fame records and was introduced to Stax record executives Al Bell and John Smith. After signing with Stax Tunnie met legendary writer and performer David Porter where they recorded an album which was scheduled for release around 1973/74. Unfortunately Stax's association with CBS came to a halt and the project got shelved. Tunnie went home and carried on performing around the Louisiana area with his new band Sweet Music Orchestra"
