Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Le Magnifiq Le Magnifiq started his hip hop journey in September 1991 & throughout the 1990's spent time writing & recording songs. Big moment came when he recorded & released his debut album "The 10 Commandments Of Le Magnifiq" in December 2000 however still no luck regarding signing up to a label. So in April 2001 he co founded the indie record label M1 Music Ltd in his hometown London & has been given free reign to write & record whatever he wishes so long as he has the facts. Now 30+ years later he's gained a lot of respect world wide for his rhymes about the real issues that affect us all worldwide. He's the voice for the people.

Search Add 5 Brainicide Brainicide was an American thrash metal band from Akron, Ohio. It was the first of many bands Tim "Ripper" Owens (Beyond Fear, Judas Priest, Iced Earth) fronted in his music career. They recorded three demo tapes called "Brainicide", "Brutal Mentality" and "Dammage Daze". They also recorded a song exclusively for the "Heavy Artillery" compilation called "Payment In Blood". "Brainicide" and "Dammage Daze" were actually recorded under the bands original name, Dammage Inc. They formed in 1986 under this name as a cover band, but began writing original songs and playing a few of them per concert. In August 1988 they recorded their debut demo, releasing some copies as "Dammage Inc." with live bonus tracks, before officially changing names in October and releasing it under the new name, without the live tracks. The live tracks, alongside 1 other, would be remastered in 1989 and released as the "Dammage Daze" demo, a nod to the name of era of the band that the songs were recorded in and represent (Dammage Daze, as in "the Days of Dammage Inc.") Also recorded an unreleased demo of original songs in 1987 with the original Dammage Inc. lineup. This includes their first song "Insane", as well as others such as "Kings of Metal" (which received play on college radio at the time) and the instrumental "Flight of the Dammaged Bumblebee".

Search Add 5 Clifford Douglass Clifford Douglas Bandleader Clifford (Boots) Douglas was born in Temple, Texas, probably on September 7, 1908. Douglas, known as one of the finest Texas jazz bandleaders of his era, recorded and toured throughout Texas during the big band or Texas swing heyday of the 1930s. He began experimenting on the drums at age fifteen. He played in Central Texas before moving to San Antonio, where he got his start on the emerging jazz scene. Douglas began by accompanying Millard McNeal's Southern Melody Boys; he played his first show at Turner's Park, San Antonio, in 1926. After earning a reputation as a fine drummer and musician, he formed his own outfit, which he named Boots and His Buddies. Although highly eclectic in style, the ensemble was quite successful. The band concentrated most of its energies on playing in Texas, but made forays into surrounding states as well. Although Boots and His Buddies were not famous in New York or other eastern cities, the group garnered a large following in its home region. In 1935 Bluebird signed the band, which cut forty-two sides for the label between 1935 and 1938, including the songs "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Blues of Avalon." After reaching a pinnacle of success in the 1930s the band steadily declined in popularity. Douglas called it quits, and in 1950 packed his belongings and headed to Los Angeles. He continued to play part-time, but his job for the county government replaced music as his primary source of income. By the 1970s he had dropped out of the public eye, and he has since faded into obscurity. The specific date and place of his death are not known. Social Security Death Records do list a Clifford Douglas who was born on September 7, 1906, in Texas and died on October 27, 2000, in Los Angeles

He has taught graphic design since 1993, first at the Art School in Akureyri, then at the Icelandic College of Art and Crafts and finally at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts where he is now a professor. He is without a doubt Iceland’s best-known commentator on design issues. For the last two decades he has been occupied with teaching and research but he has found outlets for his creative urges in several projects, not least in the posters he has designed for various cultural events. These posters have a distinct style though they fall into different series or categories. Many use photography – Goddur is himself an avid photographer – often with overlaid, handwritten text, though some feature set type. These posters are light and playful, perhaps to highlight the playful nature of the events they advertise: Art exhibitions, concerts, etc.

Search Add 5 Modern Earl MODERN EARL is a kick-ass southern country rock band with an all or nothing attitude. It is difficult nowadays to find a band that lights up the stage like this four- piece powerhouse of energy, chemistry and talent. From carefully crafted original songs, to perfectly interpreted rock and country classics, big-city blues, and southern fried roots music, Modern Earl lives and breathes its own unique style of music. One of the hardest-working bands on the European festival circuit, Modern Earl ignites the air with tight vocal harmonies, and sizzling guitar licks that keep audiences on their feet from the first chord to the final encore. In clubs from Berlin to Barcelona, the band creates searing excitement with its high-powered, no gimmick, stage show and a style of music that cuts through the bull to get straight to the heart. Raised in a family of musicians, lead singer and songwriter Christopher “Earl” Hudson enjoyed a life surrounded by all styles of music and performed in many different groups before forming Modern Earl in 2007. He teamed up with Nashville natives Ben Hunt (bass, vocals) and Ethan Schaffner (electric guitar, lap steel, banjo, vocals) and drummer Markus Christ and the boys hit the road hard. Having recently performed their 500th show they have shared the stage with such varied acts as LeAnne Rimes, 80′s supergroup Asia, Zucchero, Paul Young, and many more. Influenced by everyone from Zepplin, The Allman Brothers, Merle Haggard and Oasis, to Stevie Wonder, and even The Smiths and the Sex Pistols, Modern Earl’s music ranges from bar stool ballads about extramarital affairs, to wacky and whimsical tales of life on the road. With all the smoothness and fire in a stiff shot of fine whiskey, Earl’s commanding and soulfully gritty lead vocals are peppered with Ethan’s scorching guitar licks strummed on strands of barbed wire. Adding a generous helping of country thunk, Ben’s bass brings up the bottom accompanied by steam hammer drums driven by Markus on the back line. All this is seasoned with three-part harmonies that are as sweet as honey dripping fresh from the comb. Modern Earl is a raucous bunch of rockers who enjoy a rolling good time on stage and off. With a catalogue of three full-length albums under their belt, the band just released their 4th studio record, Hot Damn, featuring a more electrified rock sound. Modern Earl will be touring Europe non-stop in 2014 to promote the new album. Do not miss this Band, they will rock your world!

They debuted discographically with the album Clarox (1982), after which Enrique Doffiny leaves and Carlos "Morocho" Fernández enters as a new bass player. They also enter the group Duayne Somaroo (leading voice) and the famous percussionist Orlando Poleo. With this formation they record the album Zona Dangerous (1983), but shortly after they separate. They managed to perform in different cities of the country and shared a platform with Peter Frampton, in the Polyhedron of Caracas in 1981.

Search Add 5 Wild Bores The Wild Bores are neither wild, nor are they boring. Singer/songwriter John Whildin put together a band rooted in traditional Chicago pop with some Nashville influences. It features studio performances and collaborations with Brian Chard (always dependable bassist and guitarist), Glenn Kotche (Wilco) and Dan Leali (Poi Dog Pondering). The laid back opening “Whatever makes you happy” is like a comfortable shoe that just feels right and shuffles along. Whildin combines the lyrical slices of blue collar life similar to Bruce Springsteen with the melodic touch of Fountains of Wayne. Vocally, he reminds me of Chris Stamey a little bit. “My Home Town” has a very Ray Davies feel, where he describes “Sometimes I was a baseball player …sometimes I was a soothsayer.” The simple acoustic arrangements fit perfectly with the electric guitar touches in the chorus. It’s deceptively simple and makes the rebellious rant “Hands on it” amazingly compelling to listen to. Other songs wander along (“Time Wasted,” “Lovely Place”) but always deliver the goods by the time the chorus kicks in. “Chasing A Revelation” is another highlight here with clean riffs and sweet harmonies. This is introspective thinking man’s pop for your ipod’s playlist. https://www.powerpopaholic.com/2009/06/wild-bores-wild-bores.html

Search Add 5 The Rhymney Silurian Male Choir The Rhymney Silurian Male Choir was formed in 1951 and swiftly established a reputation for the quality of its performance and variety of its repertoire. The desire to embrace musical innovation has been its trademark throughout its history. There have been three main areas of development for the Choir:- competition, concert and international friendship and exchanges. During the almost 60 years of its existence the Choir has never rested on its laurels, to do so would have resulted in musical decline. On the competition stage the Choir has amassed no fewer than four National Eisteddfod titles, five Championships:- Cheltenham Choral Gold Cup and the Cornish Open Championship to name just two. The repertoire of male choirs have been enhanced and enriched with the commissioning of music from composers such as Mervyn Burtch and the late William Mathias. Balanced against this strive for perfection through the musical discipline of competitions, the Choir has also channelled its energies into the promotion and support through concerts of various national and international charities such as heart and cancer appeal funds. It has even been invited to support a Royal Gala Concert at the thjeatre in Windsor and even a concert at Eton College under the chairmanship of a certain Sir Terry Worgan. One of the Choir's major projects in the late 1980's was the support given following the Mexican Earthquake disaster when it made a topical football record to coincide with the Mexican World Cup and donated all profits to the Children's Orphanage Fund headed by our ambassador and also the Placido Domingo Fund.

In April of 1984 Eddy moved into the Wisconsin Veteran's Home in King, Wisconsin. The master organist died there at the age of 92 in 1986.

Search Add 5 Duff Ferguson Los Angeles, California Folk-Pop Crooner DUFF FERGUSON is a familiar face around the LOS ANGELES Roots Rock Scene, having rode in crap tour vans, recorded alongside, jammed with, photographed, danced with the wives of and bought PBRS for most everybody in 20 years of California Music. These days you’ll find him performing alone on a vintage parlor guitar, singing lovely songs of loss, loose songs of love and portraits of life drawn from the many characters he’s met in a lifetime of traveling America’s dustier corners. Duff was born in New York City to a family of classical musicians and raised in rural New Jersey. As the son of a choir director, he sang spirituals in church but bought rock and pop records with his allowance. After discovering an old Yamaha student guitar in the attic, he developed his own guitar technique simply because he didn’t know anyone who played guitar and there was no Internet. Duff cut his performing teeth in Sea of Fuzz, a beer-soaked college cover band lauded by a Haverford, PA paper as “the local band with the largest amps.” The band entertained for four years and provided Duff’s first encounters with electrocution and arguments over band members’ girlfriends. Duff’s first solo New York show was at the Lion’s Den in Greenwich Village as headliner at the NOHO Acoustic Guitar Festival. While living in Hells Kitchen and the Village, Duff recorded and distributed 5 EPs of original songs and acted as band manager for Jared Barkan’s Hot Iris rock trio with Hans Glawischnig (Chick Corea) and Richie DeBonis. Moving to San Francisco during the dot com crash, Duff fell in with Americana roots artist Rich McCulley, joining his band as a lead guitar player for over 50,000 miles of national touring and promo appearances in a battered Ford Windstar minivan. The band’s drummer, Andrew Griffin (Felsen), and bass player Eran Ellerbeck then performed on Duff’s debut 2 song single “Wanna Get High”, which was produced by Griffin and fellow San Francisco producer Jeff Rolka. In 2004, Duff joined an exodus of Bay Area musicians to Los Angeles, playing his first gig in LA as lead guitar player for fellow San Francisco act Single at The Gig in Hollywood. The band included singer/guitarist Todd Herfindal (The Meadows) and drummer Tommy Rickard (Vain, Linda Perry). Within a month, Duff fell in cahoots with bass player Rick Barrio Dill (Vintage Trouble), drummer George Bernardo (Cash’d Out, Evangenitals) and vocalist Teri Untalan – a band that was captured in the five song EP “400 Miles” at Rich McCulley’s Red Hill recording studios in San Francisco soon after. Rob Beaton mixed it in Los Angeles, and it was named a top 25 release for 2005 by Music Connection Magazine. The unsigned band played widely in the Los Angeles area and San Francisco with vocalist Carlett Martin taking over for Untalan on harmonies. Now managed by CLM Management in Burbank, Duff began a series of “jive and drive” solo tours of colleges, listening rooms and house concerts all the way from the Mexican border right up to Bellingham, WA and out east to Texas and Arizona, playing on live television and radio along the way. In Arizona, one morning television show appearance coincided with Nolan Ryan, one of Duff’s pitching heroes. “Suddenly” was used on MTV. All this traveling and music making led to Duff’s next record “Good Things,” released in 2008 on Single Recordings. Strange coincidences and handshakes made in dark bars led to many of his favorite lights in the LA roots scene joining in the record: Rick Barrio Dill, Mike Stinson, Tony Gilkyson, Tommy Rickard, Todd Herfindal, Kevin Houlihan, Rob Douglas, Heather Waters, Rich McCulley, Amy Farris, Taras Prodaniuk, Carmen Doane and Jared Barkan. Herfindal and McCulley participated also as co-writers and producers. In 2014, Duff began issuing a series of about a dozen unreleased songs starting with the track “Interstellar Poetry” mixed with the occasional video and the odd ukelele. These recordings showcased a stripped down sound with only acoustic guitar and voice performed live to “tape,” a style that Duff soon came to focus on in public performances as well. The record “My Story Is The Same” (2018), produced by Ted Wulfers and Todd Herfindal, featured 9 such tracks that showcase pop melodies combined with a driving rhythmic acoustic style and soulful topics. The warm reception to this new sound led Duff Ferguson to his next solo acoustic record “More Than I Should,” released in 2019. It is a 10-track acoustic bonanza that once again captures Duff performing alone with a humble 1960s student guitar into 3 vintage mics. Duff’s too-tender voice is set free in this setting to trace a singularly personal line though the tracks. It floats from one register to another, breaks like a wave and slides behind the beat when you need it most. Duff is currently at work on his seventh record, working once again with Wulfers and Herfindal, slated for 2020 release. He and songwriter Tom Bishel have released an EP of rock co-writes also recorded at Wulfers’ 663 Sound Studio under the name Origin Story. Duff can also been seen as 1/2 of the improvisational acoustic duo Blues At The End Of Time with Jared Barkan. Duff has produced recordings for artists such as Jared Barkan (“Dark Blue”/2006), Carmen Doane and Kim DiVine. He has co-written songs with Simon Lynge (“One Day at a Time”/BMI), Todd Herfindal (“The Things That Lovers Do”/BMI & ASCAP), Rich McCulley (“Never Enough”/BMI), Allan Frank (“Open Your Eyes”/BMI) and Tom Bishel (“One Step to the Top,” “No Better Time,” “Walk to the Edge” & “Guardian Angel”/BMI). Duff has also helped several hundred artists design artwork and create photos/video for their music releases, including The Spencer Davis Group, The Meadows, David Serby, Grant Langston and Rich McCulley to name a few. Duff lives in Los Angeles.
