Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | ex machina project | ex machina | ex machina (also sometimes referred to as "ex machina project") is a music project that was founded by Claudio Chiriatti in 1999. right from the start Claudio used the possibilities of alternative distribution ways of his output over the internet. the first two albums were distributed exclusively over the internet. after a two year hiatus on new releases he signed a contract with the label FUEGO to release the music under that label. after Claudio moved back to his roots from Düsseldorf to his birth town Clausthal-Zellerfeld in 2008, he realized that working in the studio alone is boring and began to look around for some new collaborators for ex machina. during his search he found his old friend Tobias Schwerdt who has coincidentally just moved back from Berlin to Clausthal and who has played drums in several bands and projects in Berlin. after some trial sessions in the machina they both realized very soon that this is a fertile and exciting partnership. ex machina is completely independent. even though the label releases and distributes the music, the overall responsibility for every artistic decision, the artwork and the presentation are the responsibility of Claudio and Tobias. the music of ex machina is electronica based, with more alternative rock elements introduced since its album "no one". the genres of ex machina are: darkwave, alternative, electronica, synthpop. Members of ex machina are: Claudio Chiriatti Tobias Schwerdt |

Search | Add | 4 | Michiko Toyama | Michiko Toyama (14 Feb 1908 — 3 Oct 2000) was a Japanese-American composer, the first Japanese recipient of an international compositional award, and one of the early pioneers of electronic music. She was a Japan Society Fellow in the Arts (1956–57). Toyama was born in California into a wealthy family from Osaka. In 1930, she started taking piano lessons in Paris. Eventually growing more interested in composition, Michiko became [a=Nadia Boulanger]'s student in 1936. After [a=Jacques Ibert] strongly encouraged Michiko Toyama to submit her Voice of Yamato work to the contest, she won at the 15th festival of the [a10235335] in 1937. Despite this unprecedented achievement, news of Toyama's prize didn't spread widely in Japan. The "Voice of Yamato" remained unperformed for almost 60 years, finally presented at the Gendai no Ongaku-ten '93 exhibition, organized by Nihon Gendai Ongaku Kyokai (Japanese Society for Contemporary Music). Michiko got married in 1937, changing her last name to Muto. In 1948, Michiko Toyama returned to Japan, where she began teaching counterpoint and piano at the Osaka Academy of Music. In 1952, Toyama relocated to Europe and continued her studies at the Paris Conservatory with [a=Darius Milhaud], [a=Olivier Messiaen] and [a=Noël Gallon]. She met [a=Pierre Schaeffer] at Conservatory and became deeply impressed by his presentation of Musique Concrète and other electroacoustic experiments. In 1955, Toyama received a scholarship to study with [a=Roger Sessions] at Tanglewood, so she returned to the United States. Michiko also studied conducting at the Pierre Monteux School in Hancock, Maine. In 1956, she enrolled in [l=Columbia University] to learn electronic music with [a=Otto Luening] and [a=Vladimir Ussachevsky] at a newly-established [l372382]. Toyama became one of the first women to work at C-PEMC, composing her first electronic piece, Waka, in 1958. During her Columbia tenure, Michiko befriended [a=Edgard Varèse] as both shared a passion for Japanese "gagaku" traditional court music. Soon after the release of Toyama's sole album, [m=2652725], she returned to Japan and became a research fellow at [l=Kyoto University]. In 1961, Michiko Toyama applied for a Rockefeller Foundation grant to build an electronic music studio in Japan. According to some biographical sources, she got rejected — with [l=Pitchfork Media] citing a rather offensive application feedback Michiko received in their Apr 2021 article. As per Tsuji Hiromi in the 1999 "Josei sakkyokuka retsuden" (Portraits of Women Composers) book, Toyama couldn't finish the project due to problems with her Japanese collaborator. Subsequently, she focused on technical acoustical research and gave up composing.

Search | Add | 4 | Pings | Pings is a fiend for the 90s ‘Golden Era’ sound coming from luminaries like DJ Premier, Pete Rock and J Dilla. This however, is not where his interests stop. Always looking out for something new, this passion has lead Pings to Djing, recording mix tapes, turntablism, production and events. Djing for the past 8 years and making music for around 4 years, Pings is a self-proclaimed ‘scratch nerd’ and it is apparent in his production style. Producing music on the Akai MPC Pings always goes for the classic hip hop sound with a fresh approach so expect plenty of hard hitting releases to come from this hip hop purist.

Search | Add | 4 | José Lázaro Tello | José Lázaro Tello Cordero | His beginnings were on Radio Miraflores in 1945 and replacing Alberto Olivares Sánchez Moreno, the beloved "Sapito". He did so badly that he asked Clemente Palma for another chance and thus three months passed to achieve his goal. It featured the duo "Bolaños-Monteverde". D'acosta, the black Jack y Velásquez "El Trío Lucumí" and Linda Izquierdo, who performed singing boleros with great success. On Radio Atalaya, "Los Embajadores Criollos" triumphed with David Odría, a great revelation of the microphone and that, due to the popularity achieved in a short time, were the "jale" of Radio Victoria, "The Station of the Best Programs". A brilliant management by José Eduardo Cavero Andrade and who won "Los Ídolos del Pueblo" forever. Another station was emerging at that time. Radio "La Crónica". On large projects, directed by Juán Silva Villacorta and who set his expectations on David Odría. A special offer led to its acceptance and left the "Creole Ambassadors" without a midday entertainer. Then the opportunity would come for José Lázaro Tello, who, with everything he learned on Radio Miraflores and later on Radio Callao, is hired by Radio Victoria, positions himself and becomes the owner of such a privileged place. It would begin there, the long career of this great Creole speaker from Chiclayo. |

Delivering quiet Americana-inflected folk, combining waltzing acoustic guitars, blended harmonies and brooding ambiance. The two first started working together in late 2010 and their eponymous four-track EP was released in April 2012 on [l=Out On A Limb Records]. They have toured at home and abroad sharing stages with The Staves, Lucy Rose, Terry Reid and John Smith amongst others. In the midst of all of that, Hidden Highways were awarded the RTÉ/RAAP breakthrough bursary for best emerging musical performers in their genre. 'Old Hearts Reborn' the duo's full length studio album was released in September 2013 on Out On A Limb Records and has garnered much critical praise. "...for those who appreciate simple, honest songwriting, this is gorgeous stuff" - The Irish Times ☆☆☆☆ "Potential album of the year...this is pure songwriting at its absolute best" - Hot Press ☆☆☆☆ "Road trip records - the ones that inspire you to pick somewhere and just get going in your very own movie. Neil Young's After the Gold Rush, Tom Waits' Closing Time and Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska are three of the greatest, but there's always room for a new soundtrack, and that's where the aptly-monikered Hidden Highways come in." - Harry Guerin, RTÉ ☆☆☆☆ "Hidden Highways have delivered one of the most strikingly lovely Irish debut albums in recent times, a haunting collection of songs of quiet power and tear-stained beauty." - Entertainment.ie ☆☆☆½ "...an incredible collection of songs that are thoroughly crafted and utterly timeless...they deliver songs that don't just aspire to Americana, but transcend it." - The Irish Mirror

Search | Add | 4 | Karin Green | Karin Birgitta Amanda Green | Swedish singer and songwriter, born Karlsson 10 June 1949 in Mora, Dalarna. She debuted on record with a single already as a 15-year-old. In 1982, her LP Brinn came out with her own material. The critics were almost universally positive, but the music did not reach a large audience. In 1986, the single Så vacker Du är, which became a bigger success. After a long break, she then released her CD Liv on her own label in October 2005, where the song "Älskade barn" has been played on Sweden's Radio P4 and many local stations. "Älskade barn" was for a period the most requested song on Radio Gävleborg. In the summer of 2008, Green released another CD with 12 new tracks - Mitt bultande hjärta. It was a somewhat more beat-based CD with a wide range of genres - everything from the symphonic Lyss till den kärlek to the rock ballad Du är inte ensam. Green's music is built around her strong and self-revealing lyrics which are arranged and processed by her producer [a931758]. Karin is also the daughter of the late skiing legend Nils "Mora- Nisse" Karlsson from the village of Östnor in Mora, Dalarna. |

Search | Add | 4 | Slaughter Haus 5 | Back in 1984, a unique heavy metal band was formed in West Seattle. Slaughter Haüs 5 was conceived as a glam/gothic-type metal band with a matching look and style and a powerful sound. Influenced by the New York Dolls, KISS, Hanoi Rocks, Angel City, TKO, Ratt and early Motley Crue, they featured matching hair, makeup and outfits, and continued the crossover vibe of Overlord, Shadow, Bondage Boys and others before them (hard driving heavy metal/hard rock music with a slightly punky singer and street vibe). They were initially a three-piece , then expanded to five-piece with two guitars, ultimately slimming down to a four-piece in the fall of 1985 after Tim Jones left the band. They recorded and self-released a 7" single in 1985, and had a song on the local compilation album, Metal Meltdown, later that same year. They steadily built up a following with their killer live show and original music, but sadly split up in 1988 after failing to land a record deal. Members went on to play in bands such as: War Babies, Sleep Capsule, Black Is Black, Gunn, Rebel, Broken Toys and Palooka. Slaughter Haüs 5 recently reunited for an amazing, and very well-received, live performance for the first time in almost thirty years at the N.W. Metalfest in Seattle in March, 2019.

Before Modern Gank was produced by Log Zhelebour, this group had changed names several times. Finally, they used the name "Route 66" (from the song The Rolling Stones) and by agreement with Log Zhelebour this band decided to use the name Modern Gank. In 2001, Modern Gank (Mogank) released their first album entitled "Ular 2001". Then in 2003, an album entitled "Si Dolly" was launched by the Modern Gank children. The members of Modern Gank also feel the ins and outs of members of a band. In 2005 Adi (guitar) and Paunk (bass) left this group. In 2006, Modern Gank (Mogank) released another album entitled "Terus Terang". However, after this third album, news and musical activities of Modern Gank personnel were no longer heard. They prefer to take a hiatus from the Indonesian music scene for 5 years. In 2012 this group released their fourth album entitled This Is Modern Gank, and Adi (Mogank's first guitarist) was joined again and a new bassist was recruited, namely Hardiansyah Maulana (Brams). Modern Gank's fourth album was handled by Indie Label, where previously they had collaborated with Logiss Records for the first, second and third albums.

Search | Add | 4 | Jeffrey Stadelman | Jeff Stadelman grew up in the rural northeastern part of Wisconsin. He earned music degrees from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and Harvard University; and taught music composition and contemporary music for 23 years at the University at Buffalo. Amidst a career of composing mainly for traditional orchestral instruments, Jeff recently began re-exploring analog and digital synthesis, favoring the compositional limitations of small hardware devices like the Elektron Digitakt over the modern practices of laptop-based production. Using various hacks and adaptations, he creates uncanny musical vignettes that feature fat, bass-heavy hip hop and hauntingly otherworldly melodies, while evoking music boxes, retro VHS training videos, and mid-century advertising jingles. In 2021, Jeff will release Signaling, his first album of entirely electronic, beat-oriented music.

The brothers typically worked as a producer-director team, with one of the credits assigned to either John or Roy and the overall production colloquially known as a "Boulting Brothers film." When John Boulting died of cancer in 1985, Roy stopped making films. Roy Boulting began working in film sales around 1933, subsequently moving to production. He served as an assistant director on the 1936 short comedy Apron Fools. John and Roy established their Charter Film Productions company and began directing and filming shorts. A few of their works, such as The Landlady (1937) and Consider Your Verdict (1938), soon gained critical and commercial acclaim. Roy directed his first feature-length Hollywood movie after the Second World War, the Sailor of the King, for [l=20th Century Fox], starring [a=Jeffrey Hunter, Jr.] in 1953. Their second WWII naval war epic, this time for [l=Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer], Seagulls over Sorrento, featuring [a=Gene Kelly] in 1954, had less prominence. In the following decade, Boultings primarily focused on satire to highlight various British societal issues, from academia and corrupted unions to government bureaucracy or the inefficient legal system. The series began with John's look on military life, Private's Progress in 1956, starring [a=Richard Attenborough], [a=Terry-Thomas], and Ian Carmichael; it became the second biggest box office hit in the UK that year. The Lucky Jim followed in 1957, adapted from an eponymous novel by [a=Kingsley Amis] and set in academia. In 1966, the brothers directed and produced [m=257716], a northern comedy with [a=Paul McCartney]'s soundtrack starring John Mills and his teenage daughter [a=Hayley Mills]. Roy Boulting and Hayley had a 33-year age difference but began a relationship during the shoot; they married in 1971. (In 1987, [a=The Smiths] used The Family Way's still-frame as a cover for [m=21109] single.)

Search | Add | 4 | Mike Yarwood | Michael Edward Yarwood OBE | British comedian, impressionist, and actor. Born: 14 June 1941 in Bredbury, Cheshire, England, UK. Died 8 September 2023. Known as one of Britain's top-rated entertainers, Yarwood regularly appearing on TV in both his own shows and others, from the 1960s to the 1980s. He created many characterisations of famous and known characters, with his catchphrases often becoming identified with the famous figure concerned, regardless of whether the figure themselves actually using them. Two of the most well known were actually spoken by the persons he caricatured. "Silly Billy" was spoken by his caricature of member of British political party, [l=The Labour Party], and Chancellor Of The Exchequer, Denis Healey, was actually used by Healey at the time to describe strikers. It was also rumoured that "I mean that most sincerely, folks", spoken by his caricature of "Opportunity Knocks" presenter [a=Hughie Green], was made up by Yarwood, but was in reality first spoken by Green himself. Another political figure he is remembered for caricaturing, is that of British Prime Minister [a=Harold Wilson], with it even appearing on the B-side of a 7" record, "[m=958525]" (1968). |
