Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Dorle J. Soria | Dorle Jarmel Soria | Dorle Soria (14 Dec 1900—7 July 2002) was an American classical music impresario, publicist, and journalist from New York. She served as [a388185]'s publicity director for 24 years and co-founded several renowned labels with her husband, Dario Pellegrino Soria (1912–1980), including [l7505] and RCA Victor's [l380603]. After graduating from [l203349], Dorle Jarmel worked as a journalist for several years before joining a prolific talent manager and [l=CBS] founder, Arthur Leon Judson (1881–1975). She became N.Y. Philharmonic's press manager in June 1929—months before it embarked on the historical European tour under the new maestro, [a=Arturo Toscanini]. (Essentially, Dorle was responsible for Toscanini's rapid growth to international superstardom). She worked for Judson's Columbia Artists Management until April 1953 and promoted many notable N.Y. Phil events, such as [a=Leonard Bernstein]'s debut 1943 appearance or the '51 European tour. In 1942, Dorle Jarmel married Dario Soria, an Italian entrepreneur who recently immigrated to the United States. An avid opera aficionado, Dario founded [l568902] label in 1948—perhaps, the first American record company to release full-length operas on LP. According to William F. Weaver, one of the most authoritative Italian operatic translators, Dorle personally insisted on including complete librettos both in Italian and English with each Cetra-Soria album. (This layout subsequently became standard for all US opera labels.) In 1953, Dorle and Dario, who just sold Cetra-Soria to [l=Capitol Records], co-founded [l=Angel Records] in New York. [l=EMI] recently lost the North American distribution deal with [l=Columbia Records], so the major label hired Sorias to direct a brand-new USA classical outlet. For branding, Dorle and Dario settled on the once-legendary 'Recording Angel' label (initially used by Gramophone Company in the early XX-century). They produced almost 500 albums in less than five years, with critics praising Angel's essential repertoire and unprecedented quality. The label, indeed, set new standards for the industry: flawless imported UK pressings, comprehensive liner notes, eloquent libretto translations, booklets with splendid full-color reproductions (printed in Europe), etc. Dorle organized several high-profile events to promote the label's roaster, such as [a=Maria Callas] opera balls with [l372665] and [a4618521]. In 1958, after EMI merged Angel with [l=Capitol Records] and switched to domestic pressings, Sorias left. They assisted Italian composer [a2500093] in organizing the inaugural Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and soon returned to the United States. That same year, Dorle and Dario launched a new [l380603] for [l=RCA Victor]—essentially, an "ultra-deluxe" imprint within an already premium Red Seal catalog. Dorle received two Grammy Awards nominations in 1963 for best classical albums cover for [a=Julian Bream]'s [m=628027] and [a=Herbert Von Karajan]'s [m=269449] 2xLP in this series. In the seventies, Dorle Soria predominantly focused on her journalistic career, regularly contributing to [a5291706], [a3007900], and [a4192162]. In March 1980, her husband Dario—who retired as the [l201156]'s managing director in '77 but still occasionally consulted MET Opera on historical recordings—succumbed to a heart attack working at the Lincoln Center's Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives. To commemorate Dario's lifelong passion for opera, Dorle J. Soria revived the 'Soria Series' and produced Metropolitan Opera Historic Broadcasts collection. (One of the releases, [r=15367770] 3xLP, received the "Historic Record of the Year" award from the Opus Magazine in Oct 1986.) She also authored 'The Metropolitan Opera Guide' historical monograph in 1982. |

Search | Add | 3 | Randy Bickford | Brice Randall Bickford | It’s been a decade since Brice Randall Bickford began performing under the name “The Strugglers.” In this time, he has released five albums, toured the world, and earned a reputation as a master of subtle, narrative songwriting. Bickford's dense, poetic lyrics imbue his compositions with an enduring vitality, rewarding the listener with additional layers of meaning upon each successive listen. One might expect the transition to “solo artist” to find Bickford turning further inward, pursuing more confessional writing. While he now acknowledges his project as the work of a solitary songwriter, Bickford has instead chosen to broaden the focus, examining the external world and the thoughts and experiences of characters other than himself—particularly women. But these are not relationship songs. Rather they are portraits of female personae on a direct, post-romantic level. |

Search | Add | 3 | Vodku | World-music group from Hungary originally founded in 1992 as Vodku V Glotku, but soon shortened their name to Vodku. The goal of the band is to introduce the folk music of the nations throughout Central and Eastern Europe, mixed with its own musical concepts. The dominant elements in the music of the band are Hungarian, Jewish, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian, as well as other folk motives from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkanes. This is mixed with the elements of rock, jazz and other progressive musical styles. As a result, a musical world is created on the stage, which would sound like home to many nations inhabiting the Central and Eastern European region. The band is on hiatus since 2017. Members thru the years: Bede Sarolta, Szabó Árpád, Takács Szabolcs, Bakos Csaba, Bata István, Vázsonyi János, Nemes János, Nedeczky Júlia, Szeredás Lőrinc, Ruthner Gábor, Kiss Attila

Search | Add | 3 | 2 Wikked | 2 Wikked is a duo from Eindhoven representing the South part of the Netherlands. The kru consists of RodmanSan and Cruzaway which are both veterans of da Dutch 1980's HipHop scene. From 1995 they started making Breakbeat music with influences of Reggae, Soul, HipHop, Electro, Funk, Jazz and Movies. Next to creating music you can see why the awesome twosome are really goin' down when the Beats and Wikked Basses are rolling live on stage. You can find the roots of RodmanSan and Cruzaway starting from around 1985 when HipHop music exploded as a new hype in Europe. This is also the period when the duo started playing in several HipHop crews. RodmanSan was then more concentrating on creating music, while Cruzaway could be found as a rapper behind the microfone. After playing in different bands the twosome decided to work together, this gave them the new impulse for letting the music change from HipHop to Break Beats. At a show you can find 2 Wikked back as Mixologists, which means that there is no DAT-recorder involved but that the songs are again live mixed and played. In this way the duo can allow themselves to interact with the public and reproduce a song to the likeness of the people on the floor. Mixology is also explained as a multi-functional word for everything that has to do about creating Electronic music.

Search | Add | 3 | Audioteka | Modern and timeless are two words that might seem contradictory, but come in handy when attempting to draw up the span that defines this duo hailing from Krasnoyarsk, Russia. A common love for both vinyl records and the very most modern audio technology got DJ:s Vlad Antonenko (aka Dj Vitamin) and Eddi Shkiper to bring their machines and geniuses together to make music. Tones that echo of futuristic space beats amalgated with heartfelt Siberian melancholy. Or maybe minimal techno channeled through concrete halls, abandoned submarine bases and sound architecht audio labs. You choose. Although originally intended as a live performance project, hard drives soon filled up with deep and experimental audio so violently vivid it would've been a cardinal sin not release them. We can only rejoice in that this honor came upon Astor Bell.

Nothing was known about the group except for the song titles which were written on the tape box. In 2001 Octopus Records attempted to track down the identity of the band and eventually made contact with the band's drummer, living in Spain. A second and a third volumes (2007, on Birdhouse Records) of material were released but the band elected to remain anonymous." It seems that the "Unknown Mystery 60's Group" is in fact a clever modern artistic project from Philadelphia and made to appear to sound like it was recorded in the 60's.

Search | Add | 3 | MacroDX | I´ve been addicted to synthesizers ever since I´ve heard them for the first time. And we are talking basically analog gear here. However I took a rather disturbing journey through the digital music age, which at the end did not satisfy me at all and eventually lead me to what electronic music really is to me. Analog substractive synthesis, tape delays, spring reverbs and the ambiance introduced by 70´s Sci-Fi movies and the protagonists of krautrock.

He lived on a houseboat on the Seine, the third river in his life, where he took up welding and started making abstract metal sculpture. Search | Add | 3 | The Göteborg String Theory | The String Theory | The String Theory is a GRAMMY-nominated artist collective based in Berlin and Gothenburg, that since 2007 explores the outskirts of contemporary neo-classical music, electronica and wild pop by means of collaborative workshops, studio recordings and live performances. The String Theory pursues a long term experimental approach, investigating new ways of interdisciplinary collaboration, incorporating visual art, developing new performance concepts and facilitating international artist networking. Being essentially experimental in nature, The String Theory never stops questioning its own goals and sets out to regularly re-invent the way each separate project is conducted, and to further develop the unique sound of the ensemble. “Led by dynamic conductor PC Nackt, the intrepid orchestra embrace the unorthodox, the contemporary and the traditional, combining electronic background noises with luscious string arrangements and insistent brass. Mixing spectral beauty with gifted musicianship, this isn't just impressive, it's progressive." |

Search | Add | 3 | Maki Polne | Michal Kowalczyk | Born and raised in Poznan, Poland. The close neighborhood of Berlin had a strong influence on his music education and helped to develop the one passion that continues to guide Maki through his life - the love for quality sound. But it's in his hometown where besides running radio shows, organizing his first events and beginning to DJ and collect music, he graduated the highly acclaimed studies in acoustics - Audio Engineering at the Adam Mickiewicz University. Studying in Winter, during Summer time the love to party would bring him to Ibiza where he experienced first hand the rise of contemporary minimal style. A pair of own technics and a first record bag followed. His devotion to music and sound wouldn't go unattended, soon after he was playing for Zoo Project, Privilage and many bars, boat and after parties around the island. The longtime passion for electronic music led Maki to settle down in Berlin. For some years he organized a successful monthly "MySundays" event series at now dysfunct KaterHolzig. More recently he got the chance to throw some parties at infamous Club der Visionaere and these days Maki is clubs regular. He can be found there, hosting numerous nights or by one of many surprise after party appearances. Having played in both, major clubs and more intimate venues, Maki has developed a unique style. Difficult to encapsulate in one genre, his focus is to create a moment and a story, following the mood of the party rather than classifications. When not in the club, Maki spends most of his time in the studio and is currently breaking through as a highly crafted producer. With releases on labels like VinylClub, Melisma and Amaniel, expect lots more to come soon! |

Search | Add | 3 | Al Gilliom | Al Gilliom | Al Gilliom’s music will peel back your defenses and hit your soul. His music melds a multitude of genres, including (but not limited to!): classical (Chopin), rock (Nirvana), and contemporary (The Piano Guys). Throwback to Al’s younger years: beginning life at just 1lb 11oz, the doctors played classical music into his isolette. Born into a world bursting with classical music, the spark never left. He would sit mesmerized, watching his grandmother’s hands dance across the piano keys. The piano awakened something inside of him— this language allowed him to take his life experiences and translate them into a universal medium - sound. In the face of adversity, music brings hope into his life. Through teaching and sharing his compositions, he continually discovers the ability to ignite this feeling in others. Al’s dream is to share his life stories with you through his vulnerable music. 2 years ago, Al released an improvisatory solo piano album, 'A Place Of Peace'. As Al’s grown and changed as a person and a musician, and the stories that have burst forth from his fingers into original compositions that are unlike any he’s recorded before. Al’s excited to offer a deeper glimpse into his world on his upcoming album, ‘The Light In Dark Spaces’. Introverted to the core, Al is the definition of a wallflower. (Well, let’s be honest. You won’t find him at a party. He’d rather be at home practicing the piano, drinking a cup of tea (or homemade hard cider) or reading a book.) In addition to making music, Al enjoys tending to his small homestead farm (with goats and chickens), cooking delicious meals, trying not to kill his houseplants, and reading paperback books. |
