Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 6 | Len Henry | LEN HENRY Born: July 6, 1943 - Boggy Creek, Manitoba, CANADA Raised in a musical family, Len Henry first performed professionally as a member of the group Burt Todd & The Firestrings, which later evolved into The Mystics, a band that played largely on the Winnipeg, Manitoba, bar scene. Len Henry then teamed-up with younger brother Harvey Henry to form The Henry Brothers Band, after which both brothers pursued solo careers in country music, with Len Henry forming the band Len Henry And Good Company. In the late 1970's Len Henry became a favourite with the late Elizabeth "Ma" Henning, owner operator of the famed Downs Motor Hotel in Winnipeg, as well as the Downs Records Company. As Executive Producer "Ma Henning brought in Nashville's Jack Clements to oversee production of Len Henry's 1978 debut album"Don't Give A Damn Kind Of A Man" (Downs DWNS-1000). The album served up a series of single releases, including the title track (DWNS-100) and the follow-up "She's That Kind Of Woman" b/w "When You're Sad" (DWNS-101). Two other singles from the album were billed as "Len Henry & Good Company", including "Poor Man's Railroad Line" (DWNS-1008) and "Ramblin" (DWNS-110). A second album, "Yesterday's Dreams" (Downs DWNS-81-1001) was released in 1981, this one produced in Winnipeg Studios by Craig Fotheringham. Again, several singles were pulled from the album, including the Barry Brown (of Family Brown) penned tune, "Cold Wind On The Mountain" b/w "Love Has Made A Fool Of Me Again" (DWNS-1001); followed by "Oh My Lady (DWNS-107). The next two singles were released on "Ma" Hennings new record label, Ameri-Can Records, with "What's It Like To Live In Texas" (DH-1001) and "Happy Ever After"(DH-1006), the latter proving to be Len Henry's only national chart showing, peaking at #35 on the RPM Charts in 1983. With the lack of any sustained chart action, Len Henry soon put his recording career on hold. He currently resides in Thorold, Ontario. Len's brother Harvey Henry passed away October 4, 2013 in Roblin, Manitoba.

Search | Add | 6 | Mina Foley | Mina Foley (9 March 1930 – 21 January 2007) was a New Zealand coloratura soprano, who rose to prominence in the 1950s. She was the first of many to study under the acclaimed singing teacher Dame Sister Mary Leo. Other prominent singers who studied with Mary Leo included the internationally renowned soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, soprano Dame Malvina Major, and mezzo-soprano Heather Begg. Foley's voice was famously dubbed "The voice of the century". Mina Foley was the most promising young soprano of her time. She studied abroad, returning to New Zealand in 1960. Unfortunately Foley had a severe and mental breakdown in 1961, forcing her retirement. She spent the next 16 years in Oakley Psychiatric Hospital. In 1978 she staged a return concert. However her return to singing was short-lived, as ill-health continued to plague her until her death.

Search | Add | 6 | Majamisty TriO | Majamisty Trio, ensemble from Novi Sad, Serbia explores the space between jazz and classical music, occasionally expanding the possibilities of the traditional jazz piano trio by adding a vocal part which is treated as an instrument equal to the others. The trio’s lyrical style originates in the author’s long experience in classical music and her affinity with jazz, thus finding an original path that paints subtle moods and emotions. Inspired by the beauty of her hometown Alvanović’s impressionistic compositions are spiced by hints of a Balkan musical heritage.

Dlh Posse was the most popular hip hop hip hop group, anticipating the current use of the new media and the internet, among the first underground regional groups to switch to national and international channels and to have sung on nationally-relevant stages. Search | Add | 6 | Tommy Navarro | Luther Navarro Walker | Luther Navarro Walker was born January 12, 1940 in Manhattan, New York to Luther Martin Walker and Irelene Walker. Luther married Clarencia Mae Flynn on April 5, 1959. They had four daughters and one son. Luther and Clarencia also adopted another daughter Denise and brought her into their large family. Luther‘s thirst for music came from his mother who played the piano for the African Methodist Church in Columbia, South Carolina and then in New York. Luther’s voice was one that could bring you to tears. He was singing in the chorus church and was so small, the robe dragged on the floor as he sang “Ave Maria” as a young man for 12 years. He moved to Williams Avenue in Springfield Gardens from Morning Side Avenue in Manhattan. It was there that he met Clarencia Flynn, who was 14 years old at the time and he was 12 years old. Luther had a singing group called the Dealers. Everyone at that time was into “Dowop.” You could hear it on every street corner, but Luther’s voice always stood out. Luther was always headed for Broadway, always trying to get a contract. Luther went into the Air Force January 16, 1957. He was classified as a Metal Worker. When he was discharged he got married. He then went on to pursue his music again. In 1960 Luther put out an album. He appeared at the Rat Fink Room, the Galaxy Supper Club in Queens, New York, the Lamp Lighter and the El Carrib Country Club. In 1963, under the singing name “Tommy Navarro,” Luther recorded “I Cried My Life Away,” with De Jac Records. This record became #18 on the “Top 100” song list nationally. He then worked with the Ruddy Williams Trio. In 1968, he joined the world famous Joe Boatner’s Ink Spots, with whom he received encore after encore whenever he sang lead. As a solo artist, he sang at the Moulin Rouge, the Show place of the Stars, August 23-24, 1968 and again November 1-2, 1968. He sang at the Flagship in Union, New Jersey as a Star with Mary Rooney and Linda Terri. Luther sang at the Palisades Amusement Park under the Disc Jockey, Bruce Morrow of WABC. He sang at the Baby Grand in New York City on January 25, 1969 with his own trio “The Navarro Trio” and at the Velvet Room in Bellmore, New York for six weeks. In 1969, he sang at the Baby Grand in Brooklyn, New York as well as the Steer Inn. He sang at the Pocamount Lodge in Bushkill, Pennsylvania as well as the McAllister Rose Room in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. |

Search | Add | 6 | Jake Penrod | Jake Penrod | A stark traditionalist, Jake Penrod is as close to Country as Country gets. He describes his singing style as sounding like “Hank Williams’ and Kitty Wells’ love child,” and if you’ve ever heard him sing, you’ll whole-heartedly agree. Although he names Hank Williams Sr. as his all-time greatest influence, take a listen to his album, “Closer To Me,” and you’ll hear everything from the Honky Tonk stylings of Lefty Frizzell, Hank Thompson, and Ray Price to heart-breaking ballads that would make Conway Twitty proud. Jake says it was his dad, Jack Penrod who “put the music in me” and a TV ad for a Hank Williams gospel album that “started the whole thing.” Jake praises his parents for their support of his musical efforts. “Mom hauled me all over creation to gigs and Dad bought and taught me to play my first guitar.” Penrod joined the Gladewater, Texas, Opry cast in 2005 and played in various other opry venues in Texas. His trademark, of course, was his uncanny resemblance to the King of Country Music. When he took part in memorial activities in Montgomery Alabama at the Hank Williams Museum, he began getting recognition outside his home of Brownsboro in East Texas. The New Year’s Eve Celebration that marked the anniversary of Hank’s death was held at the museum. It was there that he met David Church, a well-known tribute artist. In 2007, he received word from Church that a theatre in Buffalo, NY was producing Hank Williams: Lost Highway and they needed someone to be “Hank”. After submitting a CD and some photos, Penrod got a call the next day hiring him (sight-unseen, mind you) as the new “Hank” for a production 1600 miles from home. Since then, Jake has performed as Hank Williams on numerous legends tribute shows at the Gladewater Opry, Texas Star Opry, and the Louisiana Jamboree in Shreveport, LA. He has also traveled to larger concert venues outside of Texas to present his tribute to Country Music’s first superstar. Audience members have often shared their enthusiasm for Jake’s tribute after performances; some even come away a little emotional. Jake said his favorite was a man who said that his performance gave him “duck knots,” which he explained were “bigger than goose bumps and take longer to go away.” In 2009, after extensively researching five biographies and countless documentaries, Jake wrote Hank Williams Remembered, a tribute to Hank in which he narrates and sings 22 classic Hank Williams songs. He is currently touring the country performing the show with his “Honky Tonk Cowboys” comprised of former members of Hank Thompson’s Brazos Valley Boys and Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys. Jake says, “It’s truly an honor to perform with these gentlemen, some of whom have been playing this music since it was created.” Aside from his ability to eerily recreate a Hank Williams performance, Jake Penrod is quite an entertainer in his own right. He occasionally surprises audiences with a near-operatic vocal range and enjoys covering the hits of artists like Ray Price, Johnny Bush, and Faron Young, as well as a number of original songs. He is a prolific songwriter and composer and has written more than 100 country songs, several instrumentals for steel guitar, and two military marches (a passion he acquired from playing in high school and college band). He plays a total of fourteen instruments (piano, organ, trumpet, guitar, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin, lap steel, pedal steel, ukulele, accordion, banjo, bagpipes (yes, bagpipes) and bass) and takes pride in being musically obsessed, with a collection of several hundred records including many obscure titles from singers, both famous and forgotten. Jake has opened shows and appeared alongside many great entertainers such as Ray Price, Tony Douglas, Narvel Felts, Moe Bandy, Little David Wilkins, Tony Booth, Jody Nix, Leona Williams, Jake Hooker, Bobby Flores, Heather Myles, Johnny Bush, George Hamilton IV, Frankie Miller, Miss Norma Jean, Darrell McCall, and Curtis Potter. He has been featured on such television programs as RFDTV’s TruCountry, Texas County Line and currently appears weekly on RuralTV’s Texas Pickin’ Party as a vocalist and steel guitar player for the band. |

Search | Add | 6 | Martin Kirkegaard | Martin Kirkegaard | Biography Martin Kirkegaard (1976 - ) is a danish contemporary folk musician rooted in the improvisational aspect of the music based on the narrative storytelling. “real music should always have a real story to tell. A story that emanates from the moment of conception” he comments. His melodies and sketches come from the free space between his instrument and himself. Though he comes from a Blues and Jazz background he considered himself a folk musician but draws upon everything he hears. “Don`t box me in” he says. ”The world consists of sounds just waiting to get articulated”. In the light of this his travel to Africa has made a big and lasting impression on him and his way of looking at his instrument. Especially the string instruments of West Africa has inspired his guitarwork quiet a bit. And together with his travel to Scotland and The United States he has gathered a connection (in his mind) between the different folk music of the continents. He believes that every music is connected one way or the other. Of course he has his heroes (Robbie Basho, Ali Farka Toure, Abdullah Ibrahim, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Miles Davis, Ravi Shankar, Albert Ayler ect.) and his favorite patterns and colors but he always try to remodel, disassemble and translate the sounds he hears. On rare occasions he can play a covertune but he prefers to write/create/play everything himself. “It doesn`t fell right to me playing other people`s music. Maybe it is because I know it is not mine. I fell it is some others story that I am telling - it is a kind of an alienation”. Martin also believes in obstructions in music. He considers obstructions as a remedy for creating. And his most significant obstruction must be that he does not work with overdubs. Everything must be played as heard in real time. “That way I can make my music more authentic. I feel that I can be present in the moment on a hole other level. Maybe it is considered “old school” but I like it that way. You know, it is just a man and his instrument – a craftsman in process” he says. For many years he played in the trio DaFuGa that toured around Denmark for almost 8 years. Since then he has worked as a solo guitarist. In this context he has played concerts in Denmark at museums, festivals, small venues ect. The response has been surprising good (considered the somewhat narrow music genre) and his repeating patterns and almost hypnotic way of playing has left a lasting impression on the audience. Tar Gui is his official solo album debut (on vinyl) and consists of 10 pieces for guitar and 2 for banjo. It is an album full of decolorization, beauty spots, open wounds, small animals, love, rashes and other qualities. Here, no robot can hit the real edges of the music. It's music between man and wood. |

Search | Add | 6 | Group Of Individuals | Group of Individuals was an innovative Chicago punk band from 1984 to approximately 1994. The band was well recognized by contemporaries for their tuneful songcraft, unapologetic social and humanitarian stances, and bludgeoning (but highly musical) delivery. Although their live exposure was purely regional, their material was passed liberally around a burgeoning global indie scene. An unsanctioned internet reference refers to them as "melodic anarcho '77 punk rock with a real good singer." Hurricane Party Instead Of A Magazine: All Music Intrendent International Limited Potential Save The Dead Spontaneous Combustion / Immense Decay The Anatomy Of A Revolution The Blind Armadillo War Between The States We Can Change The World We Did It Ourselves Yet Another Compilation History: Group Of Individuals was spearheaded and formed in 1984 by Mike Lazuka with bandmates Mark McClean and Andy Eringis. Lazuka, who had honed his skills bashing out various rock covers in years prior, crafted the new group as a vehicle for his eclectic musical tastes, unrelenting sociopolitical passions, and his ever-evolving original pop-punk canon. Having quickly recorded his first two songs under the new moniker, he spent his high school prom night traveling throughout Chicagoland distributing and promoting the now-infamous debut single "Destroyer Of Fun / The $ellout" to every indie-friendly radio station that would open their door. The brilliant WNUR was among Lazuka's targets that exciting evening. Lazuka was a vehement evangelist of the D-I-Y movement, often generously donating material to anyone supportive enough that would also benefit from a fattened catalog. As the first single picked up steam within his distribution channel, Lazuka began to finalize the first working live band to support his efforts. Although Lazuka performed all the drumming on all studio recordings, Ubaldo Ayala manned the buckets for live shows. Eringis had moved on to other commitments, and so the versatile Joe Garcia joined as permanent bassist. Using brand-spanking new recordings "Being Bored" and "Fashion Fools", the band was selected to appear on the 1985 Certain Death-led compilation Dial-a-Trance. A performance at the compilation's release party cemented a reputation as well as helpful association with pals in the genre. Regional live work began in earnest, as did progress on new songs and new studio demos. Mike's standard stage uniform, consisting of baggy camo and a Buckwheat-adorned t-shirt, was always a highlight. To mark the centennial anniversary of the 1886 Chicago Haymarket Riot, Lazuka wrote, recorded, and released the commemorative 1986 single "World Civil War / Police Beat" on his newly-branded Universal Satirical Association label. During this same period, Eringis temporarily returned on bass to sub for the absent Garcia, and Brian St. Clair (Rights of the Accused, Triple Fast Action, Local H) took over the drum stool for the unavailable Ayala. The related demonstrations and shows were memorable for their sense of community and great music vibe. Toward the late 1980's, the band had amassed enough road-tested original material and studio recordings to begin planning a full-length release. But with factions of the hardcore punk scene quieting somewhat, and faux-metallic AquaNet-drenched shemales sprawled across most music charts, Lazuka blasted his next generational wake-up call to herald the end of the "me" decade with the tuneful "Children Are The Future" (coupled with the spastic "Being Bored") 7" release through Underdog Records. The band's roster continued to evolve; Eringis had subbed for McClean on guitar, John Potwora came aboard as drummer, and Mike Grist took over for Joe Garcia as bassist. From 1987-1990, the Group printed a newsletter and free ad paper, also called Universal Satirical Association, for the independent music scene. There was no charge for either the issues or the ads themselves. The issues were released sporadically and ranged from 10-20 pages each. Distribution was largely through those running ads and at indie-friendly stores and venues. Around this same time, the band formed a relationship with Dan Lavorini's Chicago Music Coalition, whose early Sunday morning WLS-FM radio broadcast showcased Chicagoland indie talent. Through it, Group of Individuals was presented with two important promotional opportunities: a "public" recording session presided over by panelists & indie intelligentsia, and a professionally-shot series of music videos. The music videos were aired on local TV, with "Police Beat" being deemed "offensive" and banned by the television station. At the outset, Lavorini's vision for a more commercially accessible Group of Individuals wasn't shared by Lazuka, nor did it ever truly play out. Indie cred intact, they stuck to their proverbial guns. During the early 1990's, Lazuka finally assembled, tweaked, and mastered all previous Group of Individuals recordings to issue the full-length CD "Peace Off!". By then, most of the band's activity had ceased due to garden-variety adult logistics and lifestyles. And while never having officially "broken up", members have amicably all gone their separate ways.

When Vince came to The University of Texas in Austin in 1955, a new era of bands opened up. He was to the band program at the university what Darrell Royal was to football. The first challenge he had was to sell the band directors of Texas on the Longhorn Band. During his twenty years as Longhorn Band Director, the band made 17 bowl game performances. The Longhorn Band and Michigan Band are the only major university bands to perform at the Super Bowl. Many of the ideas that Vince introduced with the Longhorn Band have stood the test of time and are very much a part of today’s performances. He introduced March Grandioso, as well as March of the Longhorns and The Wabash Cannonball. |

Search | Add | 6 | Knout | Swedish Nu Metal band from Borlänge and Avesta, Sweden. Formed in 2000. In January 2000 four guys from the small town Borlänge/Sweden formed a band called KNOUT, and about four months later they found a singer in Niklas Franzen from Avesta, and the setting was complete. Their first demo "69 Stitches" was released in june 2000. It includes three songs. The first demo was recorded only a few days after Niklas had joined, so all vocals was made in a real Hurry. After 69 stitches the guys made a few gigs but held a low profile (laziness!). But in January 2001 they entered the studio to record demo number two "Cuckoo Phobia". Eight songs was made on that one, and the guys had some time on this demo. After some local touring they joined a music contest called "garagerocken". The band won easy and the price was ten hours in a studio and 300 pressed cd. Before the recording of "Manwhore" the band decided they needed a new drummer ,so Micke was replaced by Daniel Liljeqvist from Ludvika and in early November 2001 they went to the studio to record "Manwhore". In January the band had there releaseparty for "Manwhore" on the local club Bolanche. The gig was not one of the best performances they had done, singer Niklas was way to drunk and the whole gig sounded bad. After the performance at Bolanche the band decided they needed a new singer. So tired of Niklas they replaced him with Hans from Gävle. They wrote some new songs with their new singer and went out doing some local gigs again. Spring 2002 they once again entered the studio this time for the making of the self titled demo "Knout" now the band had some new self-confidence. Later that year they decided to make a test. The singer Sonny from Falun was added to the group and the song "Airtime" was recorded with two singers. and the band rehearsed and performed for a while with two singers. After a period if time the band decided it was best with only one singer so Sonny left the band. February 2003 Knout´s new demo is recorded and it sounds great. However in late 2006, the band ultimately broke up due to their unpopularity.

March 27, 1994 in River Forest, Illinois, USA) wrote the music and produced the soundtrack for thousands of radio and television jingles and commercials. Among the products his music promoted were A&W root beer, Wrigley chewing gum, Green Giant vegetables, Sunbeam appliances and Chevrolet cars. Mr. Walker graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School and Amherst College. He served in the Pacific during World War II. While studying at the Chicago Conservatory of Music from 1945 to 1948, he was a pianist-arranger for the [a=Wayne King] and [a=Ted Weems] Orchestras. He was staff pianist for WGN from 1950 to 1954 and later played with his own band at the Ambassador East's Pump Room. Walker has written the words and music for over fifty published pop and country songs, some of which have been recorded by [a=Peggy Lee], [a=Johnny Desmond], [a=Gordon MacRae], [a=Dean Martin] and [a=Homer And Jethro]. He founded Bill Walker Musical Productions in 1953. In 1953, he started his own company. Bill Walker Musical Productions, Inc. He composed and/or arranged the music, and, in some cases, the lyrics, for over 1,000 soundtracks for radio and television commercials, industrial, documentary and feature films. The commercials have been for Chevrolet, Plymouth, Dodge, Mercury, Oldsmobile, and Ford of Canada as well as many well-known products in fields such as cosmetics, beers, cigarettes, airlines, and household goods. Walker wrote the music for 12 national award-winning commercials and films and won the Grand Prix de la Television in Venice, Italy for the best spot in thf world for that year. The product was Chevrolet. He composed, arranged and produced all the music for the award-winning [l=Bergstrom Paper] Company album, [r=2390117], in which he converted the rhythms of printing presses to music. The album is now a collector's item. Walker composed, arranged and produced all the music for the feature film, Little Laura and Big John, starring [a=Karen Black] and [a=Fabian Forte]. Walker also composed a musical setting for "The Gettysburg Address" and a symphonic fantasy, "Return to Shenandoah," both of which were recorded by baritone [a=Sherrill Milnes]. In the mid-1950s, Mr. Walker purchased and moved into one of the most famous and beautiful of the Frank Lloyd Wright homes, the 1893 Winslow House in River Forest. There have only been five owners in its 120 year-old history. A note signed by Wright is in the Walker family library, simply stating to Bill Walker, "Take good care of it." Peter Walker, who is handling the estate for his family said his mother kept the home in pristine condition up until her death earlier this year, and preserving its history and character has been a great source of pride for his family. Peter Walker, Bill Walker's son, was quoted as saying, “My father loved Frank Lloyd Wright and wanted to own one of his houses. My mother June, a war bride from Australia, took meticulous care of the house.” June S. Walker, Bill's wife, died on April 12, 2013. |

Search | Add | 6 | Christian Woodyatt | Christian Woodyatt | [a=Christian Woodyatt]'s induction into clubland began in Nottingham way back in the late eighties as early US house consumed the British scene. Having spent many a sweat night on the dancefloor at Nottingham’s Garage Club, educated by the soundtrack of the ubiquitous Graeme Park, he was caught by the bug and slowly began nurturing his own style and skills. By 1991, Christian had appeared at several local underground soirées, which brought him to the attention of one James Baillie, the then head honcho of the now legendary “Venus” club. Soon after, his he was invited to take the helm as the resident for its infamous Saturday nights. What started out as simply a regular slot for playing his slick mix of US house and Balearic gems, rapidly developed into one of the Midlands’ seminal nights out. He often found himself playing alongside some of the International figureheads of the scene at that time; rubbing shoulders with the cream of the world’s DJs. Christian’s talents didn’t go unnoticed; in addition to the growing demand for guest appearances, he was receiving good press from various lifestyle bibles of the time – named as ‘one to watch’ by Mixmag and listed on the ‘hot or not barometer’ of The Face magazine “..You may not have heard of him yet but you will, a Balearic DJ who can mix…” During 1993 Christian’s career soared and, following a ‘DJ of the month’ article in i-D magazine, he was invited to appear on the magazine’s World Tour playing alongside Tony Humphries, a long time hero of his – this denoted a significant rise in his profile and secured his credentials. Over the ensuing years he could be found playing at pretty much every major club and event throughout the UK and overseas – a personal highlight being regular appearances at the world renowned Southport Weekender. What followed was an offer that, in retrospect, truly established him as a key player in the UK house and garage scene; a monthly residency at the Ministry of Sound. During this period, Christian was lucky enough to play alongside such luminaries as CJ Macintosh, Dave Lee, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and, his early inspiration, Graeme Park. In the mid nineties Christian made the inevitable move into production teaming up with [a=Chris Scott] of [a=Happy Clappers] fame to release the [r=555901]. Once again, he caught the bug and continued to pursue his production aspirations, a few years later landing a deal with Virgin Records – releasing [r=125233] under the guise of [a=Nu Soulboy]. Various remix projects followed, most notably the Nu Soulboy Mix of [r=171355] on Todd Terry’s [l=Sound Design] imprint label and Cindy Mizelle’s "Shine on Me", through A&R Records. This brings us to the present day – although Christian still makes infrequent forays into the DJing arena, his main area of focus is production. More recently he used his own small independent label [l=Gorgeous Brown] as a vehicle for releasing his own work. However, the unexpected demise of the distribution company saw this come to a premature end. Having taken a step back from the scene to focus on his personal goals, Christian has now returned; stronger than ever and determined to bring his music once more to the fore. His new digital label imprint ‘Sensoul Records’ is due to launch Summer ’09. |

Search | Add | 6 | Thildo Gama | Thildo dos Santos Gama | Thildo Gama (Salvador, June 5, 1945 - Salvador, December 8, 2011) was a Brazilian musician, artist, teacher and auditor. He was the first guitarist of [a=Raul Seixas] and one of the pioneers of the Bahian rock. In addition to being a musician, he was also a fiscal auditor of the Bahia State Treasury Department, a university professor and, more recently, became a clown, creating the characters "Zig Zig Zaa" and "Tô de Boa". Thildo began playing with his friend Raul in his teens and were two of the first rockers of Salvador, still in the 1950s. In 1962, they formed the group Relâmpagos Do Rock, along with Enelmar Chagas. The band quickly became popular in Salvador. Shortly thereafter, Chagas leaves the group and is replaced by Thildo's brother, Délcio Gama. Still in 1962, Os Relâmpagos Do Rock appear on TV Itapoan. The recording of this presentation is in the album O Baú Do Raul (1992). According to the magazine A Bahia, the band Os Relâmpagos Do Rock was the best set of rock of all the state. With the success, the group grew and was renamed The Panthers, now counting with [a=Mariano Lanat], [a=Carleba] and Carlô (neighbor of Raul, who stayed in the band until 1964), besides Raul Seixas and Thildo. Thildo left the group in 1967, not being present in Raul Seixas' first album, "Raulzito E Os Panteras", in 1967. He also participated in other bands such as Thildo E Seu Bossas E Os Jovens, and released the compact Thildo Gama E Os Terríveis by the Astor, in 1967. This compact had on side A, the song 'Bonequinha', version of Waldir Serrão for 'Pretty Woman', of [a=Roy Orbison]; On the B side there was 'Você É Inspiração' (Jeff Cezar and Thildo Gama), both songs came with the name surf, considered the first recording of a Bahian artist to designate his production within the subgenre surf music. In the 80's Thildo also participated in a group folkloric group from Bahia, making presentations in Italy and Chile. Thildo was always present in the musical scene of Salvador: he played in bands, performed several shows and recorded independent albums. In 2002, together with the auditor also fiscal Francisco Benjamin, formed the pair Beja & Gama that touched in dancing shows. In 2009, Gama performed at the Virada Cultural de São Paulo with Os Panteras, at which time they played the first Seixas album in its entirety. He died of a brain cancer, is buried in the Bosque da Paz cemetery in Salvador. |
