Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Jovian Sound Escape Jovian Sound Escape was an electromagnetic pulse at the 10^-42 fraction of a second after Planck time. Passing quickly through the quantum gravity barrier and into Nucleosynthesis, the growing band developed consciousness only after a freak accident occurred on the temperature control panel of a spaceship from the planet Epsilon Eridani called, oddly enough, The V-Dub.

Search Add 2 Lixo De Luxo Lixo de Luxo (Luxury Garbage) appeared in 1977 in the south zone of São Paulo and some say that it is a first punk band of the city. But that's not what you want to say, it's an initial proposal from the Metropolis suburban groups. They were perfected musically and became a great hard rock band singing in Brazilian Portuguese. Even today they are worshiped by the fans due to their historical presentations like the Metal Rock & Cia. project.

Search Add 2 Edu Su Eduard Gilabert Born in Lleida, he studies sol-fa and piano since he was 7, starts his own band when he was 16 and gets soon fascinated by the intensities of groups like Sonic Youth or Deus. At 20, he buys a GrooveBox 303 and starts producing electronic music with raspy bases, soaking up the electro and acid sounds. In 2002 he starts being part of the Club Bakomba as a partner, together with Robert Lamart and Pep Gaya (American typewriter). A small place where the German minimal techno is lived intensely. He plays in several local bars in his city, carries out a tour along the Czech Republic where he takes part in the Underground Garage urban festival in Prague and, finally, leaves his natal city to move to Bcn. From 2002, he joins the NsT group, through which they claim the stylistic diversity in opposition to the increasingly homogenized scene in Barcelona. He collaborates with Telenoika and Lectrovision, he spends his time in festivals and raves, and obtains a monthly residence in the P23 and in the B-Side. Nowadays, he shares set with Lectromind, developing sessions that go from the dubstep and the IDM to the electro and the most sober techno. In 2012, he starts materializing his personal project, Parabolic label, a record and audio-visual production label based on the full coexistence between the electronic music and the visual. With regard to his live sets, edu su tends to the breaks, electro and IDM, creating loaded scenes filled with emotion and contrasts that go from the most synthetic rhythmic crudeness to a sonorous density that invites you to be attentive to what is going on. Though of moderated bpm, it turns out to be forceful and danceable.

He had considerable career in the big Italian provincial stages, especially in Genoa, where he appeared with success among other things in 1922 in ‘’ Gioconda’’ of Ponchielli, in 1926 in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’. In 1936 he made guest appearance at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. He retired from the stage in 1940. He had to give up his career early, because he lost his voice, probably because he had too often sung the heavy parts.

Search Add 2 Sonic Wolf ‘’It’s all about nexgen sounds!’’ - The motto that he created and changed everything. It changed the way how he sees the electronic dance music. For romanian DJ, producer and label head honcho Sonic Wolf, that way is called freedom. At the age of 24 years old, already gaining international success with his previous trance only project ‘’BVIBES’’, being a label owner of Nexgen Sounds Records and discovering great new artists and sounds and already working with international labels like Redux Recordings, Armada Music and Sony Music, a thing is for sure. The romanian youngster is full of energy, and this energy is up for doing some serious damage. Being a dreamer in real life, he is also a dreamer with his music and the freedom that he always wanted is here. Primarily focusing on techno music and the aggressive sounds that he is known for, you still never know. Stay tuned and be prepared, this is only the beginning.

Search Add 2 Joe Delon Joe Delon Originally from Birmingham, UK, but living in Lisbon since late 2014, Joe Delon has a love of disco, house, techno and electro in all their forms, drawing particular pleasure from mixing them in unexpected ways. What links each record to the next is a playful seriousness (or serious playfulness) deriving from a pop sensibility and a love of full-body dancing. A long-term resident at Spaced in London and a regular on the underground circuit across Europe, recent years have seen Joe play further afield (e.g. New York, Marrakech) and on bigger festival stages (e.g. Virgo, Meadows In The Mountains). Other highlights include an appearance at the infamous Breakfast Club afters in Paris and an unforgettable 8-hour back-to-back with Gwenan at Griessmuehle. Joe is also a regular at queer-run events, having played at Kiss Me Again (Manchester), El Cuerpo Del Disco (Madrid), Pumping Velvet (London) and Kit Ket (Lisbon). Online, Joe inaugurated the Pickle Factory live mix series and more recently has provided mixes for Honey Soundsystem, Prosumer's NTS show, The Ghost and Truants. He also keeps a monthly slot – Flamingo – on Lisbon's Râdio Quántica and writes about music and DJing on his Substack newsletter.

Search Add 2 Walter Dlamini Walter Dlamini was a singer whose repertoire, the veteran DJ Max Mojapelo suggests, was somewhere in between Jacob “Mpharanyana” Radebe and The Movers’ Philip Malela. Walter’s soulful singing oozes charm and sensitivity, and it glides across the melodies of the other musicians with incredible ease. A native of Wattville, a township close to the city of Benoni, Walter had joined the music industry somewhere in the mid-1970s and began recording material for the Fire label. His music formed a part of the quiet move from what might be termed “traditional mbaqanga” to the more organ-led, American soul-infused sound of the late 1970s. It was a sound that had its roots within mbaqanga music, but one that closely aligned itself more with Afro wigs, flares and platform shoes than skins and tribal costume. When Walter came to Gallo-Mavuthela in 1978, the sound was being replicated there already by producers West Nkosi and Marks Mankwane and groomed to replace the traditional mbaqanga sound that the company itself had popularised more than a decade previously.

Search Add 2 Makepeace Brothers Group based out of Venice, California. The four Makepeace brothers have been called “The Everly Brothers squared” but their catchy harmonies are only part of their appeal. Aidan, Liam, Finian, Kieran Makepeace and Conor Gaffney have gained world-wide attention because their songs move people to think, feel, and dance, with lyrics that are both witty and poignant, and which spread the message embodied in their surname – “make peace”. Growing up in the vibrant music community of Ithaca, New York the brothers were exposed to all musical genres but their commitment to a life of music began during a year-long odyssey with their parents in a small Winnebago motorhome. That tour of the US gave them first hand experience with American Roots music and the musicians who play it, and that inspired the boys to begin writing and performing their own songs. The brothers’ musical horizons were broadened further at Summer music festivals where they heard all forms of World Roots music, and from their own travels abroad when they lived in Costa Rica, Brazil, and England — immersing themselves in the music and rhythms of those cultures. After years of solo and ensemble projects, in 2007 the boys finally came together again to combine their musical visions and to create the unique sound of The Makepeace Brothers. Now, after release of two self-produced albums, and national tours with Grammy Award winner Jason Mraz, The Makepeace Brothers have a dedicated international fan-base that not only dances to their music but believes in their message as well. The Makepeace Brothers band, which has always included longtime friend Conor Gaffney on bass, now incorporates various drummers and other accompanists, and their sound has evolved from an acoustic coffeehouse combo into a full-throated stage band. Consequently, The Makepeace Brothers have been booking larger and larger shows, and the best is yet to come for this upbeat, uptempo, and politically conscious band of Brothers because their sweet harmonies and sincere, life-long message of peace, love, and justice are exactly what the world wants to hear right now.

He is often seen as member of the School of Paris but his work resides somewhere between expressionism and surrealism, and evolved in the 1960s into an expressive abstract art. Search Add 2 Petit Gateau Raphael Drouskaniev ‘Petit Gâteau’ is an outstanding recipe born in Paris in the family stove. In 2010, ‘Petit Gâteau’ decided to grow up by becoming the very first biscuit of the electronic French scene. Influenced by artists from everywhere, from The Timewriter to Dominik Eulberg, from Julio Bashmore to Trentemoller, also from Eek a mouse to Chris Liberator, he started a crispy and tasty adventure. Between Deep House and cocktails on the beach, catchy Minimal and vitamin C, but also PsyTrance, ‘Petit Gâteau’ stands out from traditional recipes by bringing the coolness of a ‘salade niçoise’ but with this strong and unusual taste of the ‘Moutarde de Dijon’ (Dijon Mustard).

Search Add 2 Alas The Sun Anja and Sandro got to know each other via an internet ad back in January 2017. What started out as a musical romance eventually became ‘Alas The Sun’. Songs wrote themselves, piling up on their bedroom floors. The duo moves between indie-folk and dream-pop. At times broad and spherical, at times intimate and quiet, softly plucked guitars sit beside drums and a synthesizer. A balancing act that the band masters effortlessly. What unites each of the songs are the haunting harmonies, delicate melodies and choruses that get stuck in your head. ‘Alas The Sun’ released their debut album ‘You And Your Love’ in the fall of 2019.
