Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Trained Attack Dogs Trained Attack Dogs (TAD) was a Philly band from the mid-to-late 1980s. Based in West Philly, it was a 3 piece ensemble that sometimes swelled to 5 people, depending on who was drumming or playing guitar. Primarily, TAD consisted of Keith Souder (vocals), Ken Kramar (guitar) and John Manhardt (bass and personality). Drummers rotated until we settled with Rich Poor (Rich Hoak) in 1989. David Thrower also played guitar with TAD in 1988 and 1989. Debuting in 1986 with Eddie Hacksaw on WKDU with the ever-popular cassette "Nazis ate Granny's Gladiolas", TAD was featured on the now legendarily defunct RAVE Records label on the "Discpan Hands" compilation in 1987, and the self-released "Pizza" EP in 1988. TAD gigged regularly all over the eastern half of the US, and appeared regularly as the house darlings of Club Revival (Revive-Hell) in Philadelphia, where the "Lotsa Fun" cassette was recorded. The band broke up in a blaze of glory in 1989 when everybody finally figured out they were sick of each other. Subsequently, John Manhardt served a three year prison term for the murder of Ken Kramar, until evidence was shown in appeals that Ken wasn't dead, just a very low key individual. Rich Hoak has performed with many bands, including the Grindcore mega-freight-train, Brutal Truth and currently TFD. David embarked on a journey of self-discovery in Thailand; both the drug trafficking and sex charges were ultimately dropped, enabling Dave to return home to Philadelphia. Keith moved to Brooklyn in the early 90's... having spent 5 years at the bottom of the East River, he finally surfaced in Philly after his cement shoes loosened.

Search Add 2 Shawn Mathews Shawn Mathews Best described as a multi-talented, genre-blurring artist, Shawn Mathews' music spills across the POP/R&B genres with Hip-Hop elements in them. Using popular synth melodies, Shawn adds a smooth vocal/lyrical performance to his songs which resemble the R&B styling of his influences Bazzi, Khalid, Dominic Fike, and Drake. Tackling topics such as heartbreak, mental health, and self-worth in his music, the Pennsylvania based artist has an extremely relevant feel to his songs and makes music that listeners can identify with. Shawn was signed to VALE in 2020 and released his EP Blue with them. His unique voice and style set him apart from others, along with his versatility and ability to tune in to current trends in music. His catchy rhythms are based on current hip hop music but are bouncy and vibrant. His debut EP Blue features six singles ‘Down Bad’, ‘Don’t Say Hi To Me’, ‘Erase It’, ‘Higher’, ‘Saved Me’, and ‘Hold Me Down’. Being a dancer and actor, Shawn fuses his love for dance and American Pop music to create his own unique brand of music. His love for performing and music equates to his electric stage presence when performing live. When he is not making music, Shawn is acting in regional musical theater productions or teaching his students hip-hop moves to the latest hits. Shawn also loves rapping to the tracks from Lin-Manuel's Miranda's superhit musical "Hamilton". Check out his performances on his YouTube Channel @
Search Add 2 Brothers Egg Brothers Egg formed in 2015 in Wilmington, NC when brothers [a=Jamie Eggleston] and [a=Hunter Eggleston] teamed-up with [a=Suzanna Crist] to forge a vibrant, individual sound from their wide range of instruments and musical influences. Their music reflects an eclectic and driving blend of Roots Rock, Bluegrass, Country and World Music. Brothers Egg hatched after James spent time living in South Africa, where he honed his ear for African rhythms and melodies while traveling and surfing around the country. In the meantime, Hunter thru-hiked, solo the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail where he gained a newfound appreciation for American roots music and Appalachian bluegrass. The brothers returned home with new song ideas and a fresh approach to songwriting. Suzanna Crist was discovered by James at an open mic night at Grinders Café in Wilmington, NC. Upon hearing her sing and play, James decided to play some of his own songs and asked Suzanna if she would sit in on violin. A strong musical connection was felt, and a positive reaction from the room followed. Weekly jam sessions ensued and Suzi eventually accepted the brothers invitation to join the band. Contributing tasteful fiddle hooks and harmonies, Suzanna brings a unique musical element to the Brothers Egg. James and Hunter's father, [a=David Eggleston] played drums and recorded with some infamous R&B and rock bands out of Richmond, VA in the 1980’s and now frequently joins his kids on stage behind the drum kit. [a=Jimmy Thompson (8)] was spotted in Raleigh, NC while playing bass with the alt. country outfit the [a=Debonzo Brothers]. James took note of his tasteful playing, and when the band relocated to Raleigh, Jimmy was asked to join. A veteran of the Raleigh music scene, Jimmy's playing is unassuming yet packs with a punch.

Search Add 2 NayaBand NAYABAND is a group that draws its musical essence from the African continent. The group adapts various musical sounds like reggae, dub, blues, jazz, but also African rythms such as mbalakh, soukouss among others. NAYABAND is a musical group created and directed by [a13579603]. Nayaban Jean is a songwriter, presenting and representing multiculturalism and crossbreeding. The leader of the group, Nayaban Jean is from Senegal. He is one of the few artists to have received the teachings and training of troubadours and griots on the traditions and roots of African music. With this musical learning acquired as a basis, he was a member of the Senegalese group Banor-Z. It follows the recording of its first album in 1999, then a musical tour in the Canary Islands. In 2003, Nayaban Jean settled in the Canary Islands where he founded his first group Mystic Vibes. In 2004, the group moved to the Afro Acoustic Experience, and then became Nayaband in 2005. The appearance of the group in the islands will give a fresh air to the local musical panorama, thanks to the knowledge of the African music base of the leader and the heterogeneous and multicultural nature of sounds coming from other continents.

Search Add 2 Thomas Nast Thomas Nast (September 27, 1840 – December 7, 1902) was a German-born American caricaturist and editorial cartoonist considered to be the "Father of the American Cartoon". He was the scourge of Democratic Representative "Boss" Tweed and the Tammany Hall Democratic party political machine. Among his notable works were the creation of the modern version of Santa Claus and the political symbol of the elephant for the Republican Party. Contrary to popular belief, Nast did not create Uncle Sam (the male personification of the American people), Columbia (the female personification of American values), or the Democratic donkey, though he did popularize these symbols through his artwork. Nast was associated with the magazine Harper's Weekly from 1859 to 1860 and from 1862 until 1886.

Search Add 2 Victor Menace Victor Menace ‘Victor Menace’ is the instrumental brainchild of alternative composer and musician Ruth Theodore (Guardian ****/ MOJO****). Forming the band back in 2006, the sheer pace and infectious danceability, was an instant hit on the festival circuit and within a few years ‘Victor Menace’, fronted by Theodore on Violin and Alejandro Toledo (The Magic Tombolinos) on sax, was headlining the world music stages at Bestival, Hackney WickED, and Glastonbury’s Shangri-La stage. Soon after the release of their self titled debut record, the band sadly split as key members moved overseas and Theodore went on to release a further three acclaimed solo records. But at 3am on New Years Eve 2016, she declared war once more and reformed the band, with the original bassist and fellow composer Mike Limmer (La Chula), Lucien Windrich (eVoid) on acoustic, Haruna Komatsu (No Cars) on Clarinet and Sax, Luke Upperton (Ska-prest) on lead electric, and Arturs Reirs (Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges / Steve Nimmo Trio) on drums. Remembered for their infamously energetic live shows the band were instantly asked back to Bestival 2016 and are now on the rampage.

Search Add 2 Warren Storey Smith Born in Brookline, MA on July 14, 1885, Warren Storey Smith studied at the Carl Faelten Pianoforte School, Boston, where he then taught from 1908-1919. He was appointed professor of theory and music history at New England Conservatory in 1922 and continued to teach there until 1964. He was faculty emeritus there from 1965 until his death in 1971. He introduced a “Syllabus of the Lectures in Musical History” for use at NEC and published A Handbook of Musical Form (1964). Smith, commonly known as W.S.S., was the assistant music critic for the Boston Evening Transcript from 1919-1924 and music editor of the Boston Post from 1924-1953. As a composer, Smith wrote for orchestra a Romance (performed by the Boston Pops in 1916) and Andante Cantabile (1920); songs: “To Helen” (1914), “The Gift of Pan”, “Faith”, “I Know a Trail” (all from 1915); “Ring out Wild Bells” from Poe; “Last Invocation” from Whitman; “A Caravan From China Comes” (1916; also with orchestra); as well as numerous instructive pieces for piano. The pride of his final years was an honorary seat to the concerts of the BSO, given to Smith in recognition of his service to music. Warren Storey Smith died on October 15, 1971, at the age of 86.
