Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Self Restraint "Self-Restraint is an aggressive three piece band from Salem, Illinois that delivers a raw and powerful performance on stage and guarantees a show that will get the mosh pit started. They combine heavy bass riffs, screaming guitar blends, dynamic drumming, and vocal patterns varying from the likes of the Deftones to Tool. self-restraint was initially discovered by an independent label from St.Louis while performing on the side stage at PointFest, an annual music festival sponsored by the modern rock radio station 105.7 The Point. Kevin Gerdes of SGM Records, quickly featured self-restraint on the ‘MultiTrax 2’ compilation cd, along with other Midwest artists. Shortly after, they were also featured on the Street Fighterz motorcycle stunt video, ‘Careless & Imprudent.’ self-restraint’s full length debut, ‘Shaping The Normal,’ was released in early 2001 and sold over 400 copies locally within the first 2 weeks. ‘Shaping The Normal’ contains ten tracks that range from powerful hardcore to melodic metal. The hidden track titled "Sporks & Vasoline" shows the band’s humor and distaste for the boy band crap that populates today’s radio. While it further demonstrates their musical creativity it also proves that there is more to self-restraint than just crunchy guitars and howling vocals. self-restraint brings together the diverse influences of its members and creates a style of their own without rapping lyrics or spinning off turntables. They mix power and energy into a polished aggressive sound. It was this energy that self-restaint hoped to further capture in their follow-up ep, ‘A Little Less Of Everything.’ By plunging deeper into the essence of their music, self-restraint has created an album completely representative of both themselves as individuals and as a band. From the playful intro which features a clip of "Sporks" to the driving groove of "Now You’re Gone" or the radio friendly "Shallow", ‘A Little Less Of Everything’ proves that a band can mature and grow together creating a unique vision of modern metal." They broke up because one of their bandmates Josh went off to colledge.

Search Add 2 Christ's Flesh Doom / death metal band from Poland (Elbląg). Christ's Flesh was formed in 1991 in Elbląg by guitarist Tomasz Sumiński and drummer Tomasz Pietrulewski. Vocalist Rafał Ossowski and bassist Krzysztof Andrearczyk were later added. They played together for the first time at the Klub Garnizonowy in Mierosławskiego Street. In April 1992, the group recorded a demo, embracing a death metal sound, which received good reviews from underground metal fanzines despite its poor sound quality. In June 1993, the group entered the Warrior Studio in Gdynia to record their second demo – obeying again death metal standards. They sent the songs to Bestial Records and Morbid Noizz Productions, which didn’t release them due to financial problems. The group didn’t start working on new material until next year. Eventually, Christ's Flesh broke-up, after some disagreements with Morbid Noizz Productions, which didn’t released the new demo until spring 1995.

Search Add 2 Manuel Hermia Trio With this new trio, Manuel Hermia takes us into a jazzy world rooted in the tradition and at the same time open to all influences, music both modern and risk-loving, but still accessible. It contains some compositions based on the principle of “Rajazz”, with research in harmony and a mixture of colours that gives it a unique character, some compositions are flirting with the edges of jazz, with a range of emotions going from the most sweet and deepest and from the most crazy to the most raging.A modern trio that loves groove as well as melodies, and that strives to honour jazz, the music that is called libertarian.

It is not the new wave of music that will dominate the scene and it may not change listeners worldwide. Friction Switch is a band of five individuals making music they love for those that want to hear it. For those that want to feel thick grooves, smooth melodies matched together with loud intense aggression.. For those who want to take the music in and be a part of the emotional experience reflected in every song. That is Friction Switch. Each member of this band puts their heart and soul into the music despite the struggles of life, personal loss, and emotional highs and lows. Each one of them have musical influences that range so far apart, that when they come together it makes a sound extremely unique and enriched, that it makes no comparison to any other sound. With influences ranging from Deftones, Fear Factory, Tool, Pink Floyd, 311, Nirvana, Metallica, NOFX, Pantera, Radio Head and Lagwagon, you can see and hear how these musicians bring many different styles of music to the plate. This band starts with the foundation of rhythm matched by SiG and Shawn who make the drum and bass combination that is definitely the heart of this band. Slamming and accurate techniques are only the scratched surface of what SiG lays down with his talents. 7 string guitarists, Wayne and Ian, are constantly switching rhythm and lead duties throughout the songs, which supply the trademark guitar sound of the band. From heavy driving riffs to intricate chord progressions, this pair provide the heavy edge and melodic backdrop that makes the band breathe. Shawn’s punk influenced bass style brings a distinctive twist to the heavy sound of the band. To complete the circle, Gary’s lead vocals bleed out the pain and anger of real life experiences, with lyrics depicting his inner struggles, and observations of our dying society. Gary and Ian’s duel vocals often times build up to an explosion of violently harsh growls and blood curdling screams. When it is all put together a truly unique sound is born that can simply be described as Friction Switch.

Search Add 2 Ketill Jensson Icelandic tenor singer, born in 1925 in Reykavík, died in 1994. He was one of Iceland's most promising singers in the middle of the century. His singing ability was questioned and several sponsors paid for his three-year singing studies in Milan, Italy, where he studied with several other Icelanders around and before the 1950s. Ketill came home and sang publicly with a good reputation, he went back to Italy twice for further singing studies and in 1955 two albums were released with his solo singing accompanied by Fritz Weisshappell, they contained, among other things, music from the opera Cavalleria Rusticana which he sang in here on Iceland, but he also sang one of the roles in the operetta Leðurblákunn around that time. Furthermore, an album was released in 1956 where he sang together with Guðrúna Á. Simon and the National Theater Choir. At this time, Ketil's singing career was at its peak and all his singing paths seemed straight and wide ahead. But after that he stopped singing for some reasons that are not entirely known. It is known that projects were scarce at that time and Ketill could not survive on singing alone here at home, and so he went to study fish assessment and then worked at Ríkismati marine products for years, which may also have something to say but there followed by both irregular working hours and absences from home. He also got into a scene due to a singing job at the National Theater and seems to have decided not to sing anymore, but it is not entirely clear. Ketill therefore stopped all public singing for about thirty years, but then appeared unexpectedly in 1986 with a new album called Ketill Jensson singur: Jónas Ingimundarson and Fritz Weisshappel play along on the piano. On that album, you could find the old recordings as well as new ones made in the Hlégarð community center. The album, which Ketill released himself, received fair criticism from the music critics of DV, Tímans and Morgunblaðinn, who all agreed that there was more in the older recordings, although the voice was certainly still there. It can be said that external circumstances have shackled Katli and his singing career has become much less than it could have been otherwise. He also faced another shock in his life when he lost one of his sons in a fire so that his life was strewn with thorns. The tenor singer [a7062637] is his son, and his nephews are the brothers [a7304262] and [a996771].
