Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | Clancy's Clowns | Clancy's Clowns were an American saxophone quintet put together by Lee Gillette of Capitol Records in 1961 and marketed as a kitschy, oddball throwback act. They performed novelty arrangements of ragtime tunes from the 1920's, arranged by Capitol's Sonny Anderson and conducted by Johnny Smith. This group only exists on the 1961 recording Saxophobia, released in mono and stereo editions. Though the cover shows a quintet of sax-toting clowns, these were not the actual players on the album. The Players: Johnny Schmidt - Soprano Ralph Gary - Alto George Smith - Tenor Arthur Smith - Baritone Bill Gross - Bass

Search | Add | 3 | The Dead Puppies | The Dead Puppies were formed in February of 1985 with Tommie Gunz (Thom Ryerson) and Leroy Deadboy (Joe Maagdenberg) in the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Both Tom and Joe were first year students in Confederation College's film production course. Tom was originally from London, ON, and Joe from Hamilton, ON. They began as a punk country outfit, and cut a 12 minute tape consisting of 8 original tunes. A week later Trash (Joe Lafontaine) was added to the line-up and they cut another tape, live off the floor. This time out they were a little more serious and added an edge to the songs and lost the country flavor. 'The First Cut' was issued in March 1985 with 10 more original tracks. Summer break came and the band was on hiatus until the fall. Trash was replaced by Harry P. Ness (Harry Smith) who in turn was replaced with Craig Moorhouse, another film arts student. On February 4th 1986, which was also the 106th anniversary of the Donnelly Massacre, Tom, Joe and Craig convened in the film production supply room, and set up a studio. Using nothing but a 175 Watt Peavey Tube Amplifier, two Nagra IV-S Reel to Reel recorders, a Sennheiser and a Shure microphone, and a pile of patch cords and custom made tape loops, the three art students recorded two reels worth of 'music.' It was like nothing they had made before, and the recording of the track, 'Persuasion' was video-taped. (It's a video up at YouTube, check it out!) The session went for about four hours. The tapes were labelled Volume 1, and Volume 2, and then sat on a shelf for the next seven years. The boys graduated college and went on their ways. Tom settled in Cambridge, Joe in Toronto, and Craig in London. In February of 1993 Tom and his musical current partner, Stan V. Antone, took the 1986 recording session off the shelf, as as Tom had just bought a reel to reel, and they transferred the music to cassette, editing it into a 45 minute project called 'Pathological Profile.' The tape was released in April 1993, and quickly got airplay at CHRW in London, and a review in the National Campus Magazine 'Chart.' In January of 1994 Tom put together a box set of all the Dead Puppy recordings, plus three new songs that had been written in 1985, but not performed until December 1993 with Thom on vocals, Stan on guitar, Mike Vandecamp on drums, and Jeff Harris on drums. The box set contained a book with lyrics to all 29 songs, all the tracks from "E.P.", "The First Cut," and "Pathological Profile." We move ahead to when "Pathological Profile" was re-issued on cassette in April of 2005 and promoted again, to little interest. We then entered the CD age, and Tom and Stan re-edited the 1986 recordings, re-titled them, and rose again like the phoenix as Cholera. The CD was issued on June 7th 2008 under the new title of 'Sky Skraping.' We now move from the CD age to the digital age, and Tom and Stan figured it was time to get this music out across the internet via CD Baby and i-Tunes. Here we are, exactly thirty-two years to the date, and now the 138th anniversary of the Donnelly Massacre, which occurred near Lucan, Ontario. Tom and Stan believe they received positive energy from the Donnelly spirits. Tom & Stan count these following bands as their major influence; Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil, The Kronos Quartet, J.O.M.F., Glen Branca, John Cage, Philip Glass, Liabach, Diamanda Galas, and John Zorn. Thank you all!

Search | Add | 3 | Paul G. Stafura | Paul G. Stafura | Paul Stafura's tamburitza experience began in 1961, at age 12, when he became a charter member of The Junior Tamburitzans of Duquesne (Duquesne, Pennsylvania). These beginnings occurred through the encouragement of his parents who wanted to develop his love for music and for his ethnic background. Just a few years later, another charter tamburitza group began in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, called the Ambassador Tamburitzans under the direction of Mr. Ivan Yanzetich. It was an all male group that played advanced selections of tamburitza music. Another community group organized by Walter Kolar, called The Tamburitza Philharmonic Orchestra, was in existence. Its purpose was to perform more classical selections for symphonic presentations on the tamburitza. By joining these groups and small combos, a strong appreciation for tamburitza playing developed, which prepared him for acceptance into the Duquesne University Tamburitzans as a performer from 1967 to 1971. Six years of undergraduate and graduate study provided great opportunities to tour both domestically and internationally. Several albums were recorded during those college years, and it was an educational experience to play and perform with so many talented musicians who came from different musical backgrounds. As the years went by, Paul performed and recorded with The Steve Vesolich Tamburitza Orchestra and played many fun gigs with The Continental Dukes of Pittsburgh. The technical side of 'live' recording became an interesting hobby leading to self-recorded albums of The Duquesne University Tamburitzans and, for several years, partial ownership of Granny's Attic Communications. During his ongoing work as Company Manager with the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, Paul penned many musical arrangements for each season's production, as well as for their travel abroad. In 1982, he was awarded a 'Meet the Composer' grant from the state of Pennsylvania for a special musical arrangement. Since 1988, he has been the Managing Director of the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, which has been a tremendous experience of directing music, song, and dance with America's premiere folk ensemble. This season marks 40 years of rewarding work with the Tammies, as a student and as a professional. |

Search | Add | 3 | L.A. Big Daddy's | THE FOUNDATION: Picture Los Angeles in 1963. The stately homes in Lafayette Square have birthed a generation of musicians that the community and surrounding clubs will never forget. It’s the normal course of things when there’s no stand-out star, but just close friends and cool people who love what they do. Yet, when the world owes a debt in memory of their excellence, the L.A. Big Daddy’s have come forth to make sure it gets paid - in full. Local music teachers that cared enough, became the foundation to some of the world's brightest stars. For Matt Bragg and David E. Jackson, their dreams became possibilities, as they found themselves hanging out in a studio with Quincy Jones, and then somehow unexpectedly in New York City, watching the musical R&B, Funk, Soul, and Blues fusion, supergroup STUFF, record tracks for an upcoming project. It is not enough that Matt and David have both earned the respect from those who once inspired their thinking, but the musical memories from their beloved City of Angels, Wellington Road, have for decades fueled their commitment to musical coolness. Now the perfection of what they do, is proof that timing is indeed everything. Both Matt and David would be the first to say, that the cool of how and what you do, has always been about the delivery of the music, the stylistic approach, the touch and feel, and your understanding of what works and how it needs to be done - that creates a great song. MAKING MUSIC: Whether it is Jazz, Rock & Roll, Funk, R&B, Blues, or Soul, what lead the childhood friends Matt and David to one day become their musical heroes? They had an early start in the 1970’s working as multi-instrumentalists behind the music of 70’s James Bond film actress Brenda Arnou and Richard Street of The Temptations, and then making music alongside actor Chevy Chase for NBC’s Hit variety series The Midnight Special. They were the first call for American Smooth Jazz saxophonist Ronnie Laws; the 80’s R&B of Loose Ends; and then provided the groove to the blues, for the great ‘Sista Monica’ Parker. Matt Bragg and David E. Jackson are the foundation of the Los Angeles based music group “L.A. Big Daddy’s.” They have a friendship and history that provides insight to the musical roadmap of their first full-length, 12 track, studio recording titled “Rock Your Blues Away.” With good writing comes great songs, about cultural themes that are interwoven throughout our communities. A musical vision written and performed, as a good reminder of shared appreciation for great things and good music!! With Guest Performers: Kee Eso Pitchford, Gregg Wright, Ernie Johnson, and Dwayne “Holyghost Guitar” Watkins. Norman Williams, Adrian Meyers.

Search | Add | 3 | I Hail Taxis | Stephen Hill | Stephen Hill began recording cassettes of his own songs under the name I Hail Taxis from about 1994. He recorded about a dozen of these, many of them sadly lost, before I joined him on his "Purple Trousers" tape in 1997. By the end of 1998 we had released 3 more tapes, an EP, had grown to a 5-piece band, performed one shambolic gig, appeared on TV (on Channel 4's Under the Moon performing "Tartan Army", IHT's alternative song for Scotland's World Cup team), changed the name to "The Sluice Room Review" and split up. Steve had no musical influences and wrote songs purely for his own amusement. His audience was me and a few other friends to whom he'd hand out his self-dubbed tapes on his own Bring! Records. Later tapes were released on cassette-only labels Bacchanalian Revel and Low Voltage, and the "Subscribe!" EP on the even more obscure Umbababayee. But I don't believe they sold well, even by cassette label standards. Unencumbered by ambition, musical training or an audience, Steve was free to sing whatever was on his mind. And going by the songs, what was on his mind was: day time television, science fiction, UFOs (this was an era when crop circles were seriously debated), archaeology, the OJ Simpson trial, Scotland, surreal humour (how else to categorise "Rod Stewart and Emu"?) and, of course, girls. Steve was never very comfortable when the band started to grow or we talked of gigging or self-promotion. He was happiest scribbling his silly songs in his notebook and recording them in one take in his living room. Towards the end of '98 he disappeared and the band was no more. I heard a rumour that he'd moved abroad but I never got confirmation of this, and neither I nor any of our mutual friends have heard from him since. Wherever he is, at least we still have his music. The world of I Hail Taxis is one many will recognise; that of a twice-daily Neighbours watcher and dreamer who refuses to grow up. So put on your purple trousers, get the Etch-a-Sketch from the car, and get ready to do the freezing cold jig whilst listening to the World of I Hail Taxis! From the website. |

She began her career performing roles from the mezzo-soprano repertory, but later successfully added several soprano parts to her repertoire as well. While she did perform in Italian and French language operas, she had a clear affinity for works in the German language. She particularly excelled in the operas of Richard Wagner. After retiring from the stage, she was active as a voice teacher in both France and the United States. Search | Add | 3 | Siegelord | Epic metal from Cincinnati After years of silence and slumber, something stirs. Darkness looms over worlds untold as the fetus of a savage new god kicks. Pantheons crumble and the faithful weep as the cosmos gives birth to a new dark conqueror. Four brothers, black of armor and void of soul, roar in adoration and corrupt praise. The Fallen rises, accompanied by hymns that drone like sanity's funeral dirge... Siegelord captures the essence of this morbid tale, presenting it to you with musicianship both dark and powerful. Hope shall be forfeit when such soundscapes of war echo through forgotten lands... and when the last cry for battle has left our lungs you shall know the Fallen has ascended. Search | Add | 3 | Quinton Blair | Michael Quinton Blair | Honest as a day spent on a tractor, and driven like the drifting Prairie snow. 2018 Manitoba Country Music Association Roots Artist of the Year, Quinton Blair is a road running, tale-spinning songwriter. Silky and smooth like a diesel engine, his beard glistening in the setting sun, its rodeo mud in his teeth and horses in his blood. Blair’s wide understanding of country music suits him perfectly to the task of working the stages with the all-stars of both roots and mainstream country music in Canada. He has shared stages with Del Barber, Tim Hus, Shred Kelly, The Bros Landreth, and the likes of George Canyon, Doc Walker, High Valley, Corb Lund, Terri Clark, Charlie Major, Restless Heart, Emerson Drive, and more. He has showcased and performed at the CCMA’s, Folk Alliance - Kansas City, Break Out West, Manitoba Arts Network, OSAC, Dauphin’s Country Fest, Festival du Voyageur, Canada Day at the Forks, and Chinook Rodeo Association Finals. Named Manitoba Country Music Association’s 2015, 2016 Roots Artist of the Year, and 2017 Male Artist of the year, was again named the MCMA 2018 Roots Artist of the Year. His blue collar approach to the music business has him pickin’ a guitar nearly every weekend, and has allowed him to play stages as far north as Nunavut, and Dawson City and as far south as Nashville, Tennessee, demonstrating his insatiable thirst for the stage. The authenticity of Blair shines through in the many formats in which he travels. Blair as a solo artist, relies on his guitar, witty stories, and keen ability to capture the crowd night after night. He is often joined by good friend Bill Western Jr (Nathan, Del Barber) on pedal steel, or his whole band of honky tonk All Stars. Through the summer months, Blair is most often seen moving his band back and forth across the prairies, in between hauling his horses to Ranch Rodeos in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Wrangling horses is in his blood, and has been a part of the Blair family for generations. |

He enlisted fellow Mars members, Mark Cummingham and Connie Burg, plus [a=DNA (4)]'s Ikue Mori, to work on the project. The quartet rehearsed the tracks for about a year before recording. DNA's Arto Lindsay and his brother Duncan, also joined on the recordings of the album. The record was put out on Cunningham's own label, Hyrax, in 1980. In the early '80s, some Italian fans made a video of the whole opera, but a copy of it has failed to surface. After John Gavanti stopped, Cunningham, Burg and Duncan Lindsay formed [a=Don King].

Search | Add | 3 | Humareda | Humareda was born in the summer of 2005 when Roger and Jordi, two old friends of the highschool, meet again to share some of the songs they have been composing during a period of reflection. Wanting to do something interesting with them, comes the idea of recruiting people who are willing to take this project forward. The first to join is Albert, who starts playing the flamenco cajón and some more percussion. The three alternate the trials between Ruché's house, in the neighborhood of La Sagrera, and Valldonzella 12, an old squatted farm where numerous social activities are organized. Soon after Tomy, playing the electric bass, and Gerard, playing the cajón. In this way they transfer the tests in Villa Elvira, a little house located in La Floresta, where Albert and Tommy share the roof. With this formation, on April 16, 2006 they perform their first concert, precisely in Valldonzella 12, when the eviction and subsequent demolition of the farm is announced. From now on they begin to go through the stages of some inhospitable places and some greater neighborhood festivity. When Albert decides to devote more to the drums and leave the cajón in second place, La Floresta is left to rehearse regularly in the bucs of the Garcilaso Center in La Sagrera. In addition, Jordi Bigay, a friend of the group that records all the concerts, joins until December 1, 2007, opens in Sant Andreu as a smoke more. With it you get a cooler and lively live, since it has full mobility on the stage and puts all the nose and salt shaker necessary. In November 2008, an initiative of Jaume Capella, a great friend of Humareda who acts as a manager of the group, becomes a reality: the contribution to the Festival of the Sant Andreu de Palomar neighborhood, composing a song that becomes the hymn of this party. Tots Al Carrer! It sounds in all the acts and parades of the neighborhood. Finally, people have the possibility to listen to it and sing it live at the concert given by Humareda in the big tent of Can Fabra on December 7, 2008. Due to the good acceptance that the song has, the band decides to make promotional CDs that , apart from Tots Al Carrer !, includes Solterín Solterón, and gives them to a large part of the people who will see them, thus becoming the first model of the group. In addition, it is in this concert that also premieres screenings made by Antyproductions (www.antyproductions.org), a small production company that collaborates to enrich the live performance of the group. After several concerts, the summer of 2009 is closed in studio to record Maketeando, the second model, which includes 6 songs recorded in La Universal, plus a song recorded in Café Con Leche Records. Finally, Maketeando comes out in January 2010 and is presented in concert on the 15th of the same month at the Garcilaso Center in La Sagrera. After many concerts in Barcelona and nearby, the summer of 2011, Ger decides to leave the group and Alejandro enters instead. That translates into an opportunity to experience a new sound. With him, during the last months of 2011, they have begun to register the third model of the group. New congas sound, guitars with effects, new rhythms and melodies, more percussion and new bass lines.
