Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Unruly Girls | Unruly Girls is a duo project from Benevento: Luigi Limongelli and Humbert Alison work close together in composition, producing and recording, while Humbert is the one bringing it to the crowds as a one man show. Their debut album "Cruel Tales" (July 2017), was totally home produced, and has been recognised as a stunning and more than promising debut. The band's name was inspired by The Smiths' "Barbarism Begins at Home" , with Morrissey singing: "Unruly boys who will not grow up must be taken in hand, Unruly Girls who will not settle down they must be taken in hand". Of course irony and ambivalence are basic ingredients here. With more than 100 concerts in Italy and Europe, and a growing interest from audience and press, Unruly Girls are ready to share their allucinatory and raw vision with a brand new world. Their new album "Epidemic" came out on April 21th via Dirty beach Records. Compared with their firs work "Cruel Tales" the sound is darker, charged with emotions and psycological nuances in which bouncing bass lines, acid synths, fuzzy guitars and spacey drumming are the perfect scenery of their garage rock'n roll mayhem.

Search | Add | 2 | Venezuela 4 | By 1973, the master composer and arranger [a=Luis Laguna] (†) founded in Maracay, the group Venezuela 4. The group Venezuela 4 was mainly dedicated to instrumental music of traditional Venezuelan roots, over time the compositions of maestro Luis Laguna became a mandatory repertoire for students, singers and musical groups. Venezuela 4 releases its first full-length album in June 1975. Chronologically, this is the first group that gave indications of a change in Venezuelan traditional root music, although its work as an active group was brief compared to those of Raíces de Venezuela and [a=El Cuarteto], which have already passed thirty years of activity. Two record productions as a group and a series of albums accompanying singers, is the recorded legacy of Venezuela 4. The death of its leader, [a=Luis Laguna], in 1984, meant that the group did not stay longer. Undoubtedly, Laguna was a fundamental piece of this group, in addition to being, for his excellence, one of the most popular and important composers of Venezuela, especially towards the second half of the twentieth century, because from his compositions he becomes the protagonist of the aesthetic change of Venezuelan music. [a=Aquiles Báez], a renowned Venezuelan guitarist and composer with a long career, comments in a personal capacity that changes in music generally occur from the proposals of the composers, in the case of Venezuela, Laguna is a benchmark of the transformations in Venezuelan music in the 70s, since his work updated the traditional repertoire and opened the way to a new generation of musicians who later, during the 80s and now more recently in the 21st century, have continued with the line of work proposed by the teacher. By 1968 musicians began to gather, especially guitarists, in the house of maestro Laguna located in Maracay, Aragua state. These first calls were made with the intention of playing music based on the teacher's teachings, as well as exploring new musical proposals, especially those from Brazilian music. From there, an ensemble of musicians begins to be profiled in which these learned ideas began to come to life. Over the years the proposals born of that kind of laboratory that was the house of Laguna were concretized in a musical work that was formalized with the birth of the group Venezuela 4 in 1973, «... originally composed of Luis Laguna (guitar and direction ), his son Carlos Laguna (four), Eliécer Guzmán (mandolin) and Carlos Soto (double bass) »(Guido and Peñin, 1998: 718). Later [a=Henry Martínez] and Lencho Amaro join the guitar. But this need to differentiate had detractors, there was "... a lot of criticism of what Venezuela did 4, they said we made Brazilian meringues, distorting Venezuelan music, it took us a lot to be accepted," says [a=Henry Martínez]. It is normal for changes to generate positions found by the most orthodox, but thanks to these transformations, traditional music becomes dynamic and changing, thus enriching its own evolution.

Search | Add | 2 | Plástev | Plástev | This jazz quintet sprang into existence in exactly the same mysterious way as it melted away after 1987. At the beginning was the sound of an electrified bass clarinet which in the hands of Eduard Kuhn sounded differently than in classical music. This player appeared as a guest of the jazz-rock group Jazz Fragment, which brought him together with pianist Aleš Faix. And when the bass clarinet and the piano were joined by the flute, it laid the foundations of the group which began to call itself Plástev. The band finally formed and settled with Eduard Kuhn – bass clarinet and saxophone, Jiří Šilhán – flute, Aleš Faix – piano, Jan Střížovský – contrabass and Ivo Kalvínský – percussion. This way Plástev played in the jazz clubs Parnas and Reduta, shot its TV profile in The Musical Studio M and toured Germany and Italy. Each member at that time also performed with another band which weakened Plástev to the extent that it finally became silent. This continued up to the year 2011 when Aleš Faix invited his former playmates to his birthday party and asked them directly whether they would like to revive the band. It might have been thanks to their elevated mood that they agreed and began to occupy themselves with the resurrection of the band. The reconstruction of the original music required a whole year of practising, but several new pieces for the alto saxophone came into being during that time as well. Plástev recorded them in St. Lawrence's Concert Hall in Lesser Town of Prague with the help of the Steinway piano masterpiece. The album »Light at the Beginning of the Tunnel« is a cross-section of both the original and the new repertoire and Plástev disproves the thesis that »nothing improves with age«. After twenty-five years its members are more musically mature and they play with even greater vigour and enthusiasm than before. To refresh your memory, the album also contains two tracks of the Czech Radio from the 1980s – The East spiced with Indian tabla and the jazz-rock version of the Vervain. |

He has played country, rock and swing and he was also a regular on stage with the late, great J.P. and Annadeene Fraley throughout their extensive career. He remained close to them. In fact, Doug played bass on the fiddler's last CD with Betty Vornbrock, called "Side by Side" (Burning Wolf-002).

Search | Add | 2 | H. E. Erwin Walther | Heinrich Ernst Erwin Walther | H. E. Erwin Walther was born in 1920 in Amberg in the Upper Palatinate. His father, Ernst Walther (a student of Joseph Rheinberger, excellent pianist, a decade-long church organist and longtime choir director), taught his son from his early youth to the piano, harmonica, music history and composition. Erwin played piano with four, violin with eight, viola with thirteen and Waldhorn with sixteen years. After the Abitur, he was admitted to the State Conservatory in Würzburg with his own violinsonate in the master class of Prof. Zilcher. At the same time, he studied musicology at Oskar Kaul, counterpoint with Hans Schindler and in the Nebenfach Viola with Karl Bender, and as a guest speaker, philosophy, German studies and medicine. After the examination (1941) Walther was conscripted. As early as 1943, after a serious injury, he was released and sent to Bayreuth for the student's guidance by way of a compulsory service obligation for wounded academics. In addition to his studies and beginnings as a composer, Erwin Walther worked as a practicing musician. Already during his studies, he belonged as a violinist, a. The Hemlock Quartet and the Sturm Quartet in Nuremberg. The press called him a "pianist of rank" in 1949. As such, he taught studiocrites in the years 1949 to 1951, in which he used the art of (almost forgotten) improvisation. For the studios founded by Gerd Winkler in Amberg in 1950, he wrote stage music for numerous performances (among others works by Sartre, Cocteau, Brecht, etc.) as a "house composer". He was a co-founder of the Amberger Jazzclub, and since 1960 he had received numerous assignments for television films and radio productions. The stylistic and generic variety of his extensive work makes him a difficult artist. Freedom and independence determined his life as well as his work. With the literature, he has devoted himself to his life composition. H. E. Erwin Walther died in 1995 in Amberg. |
