Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Sarah Ka'ilikea Sarah Kealamapuana Malina Ka'ilikea Sarah Kealamapuana Malina Ka'ilikea, born on October 7, 1911, was not only a songwriter, but a genealogist and shared her Hawaiian learning, experiences, and music with everyone who became aware of her, due to what family members say was her photographic memory. Mary Kawena Pukui and David Bray were her teachers, and she continued to do research on anything and everything that had to do with Hawaiiana history and legends. She and her husband also run a club called the Luau Garden, where she helped organize performances not only for visiting musicians but also brought herself into the shows as well. They were not only a means of entertainment but meant to be an educational tool, something unique to the island of Kaua'i. She died at the age of 92 on February 25, 2004.

Search Add 2 Ruby Bullet The NYC-based duo of Suzanne Sterne and Pete Vassil blends metal, prog rock, punk and pop with astounding proficiency to create their unique, bedlam-meets-beauty sound. It is controlled chaos at its finest and the reviews follow a basic form: “I've never heard anything like it. It makes me want to hear more”. Inspired by extremes, Ruby Bullet songs are intelligently rebellious. “You'll either want to make out or break something,” quips Vassil, whose bombastic, imaginative drumming heightens the complex prog-punk riffage spit out by Sterne's thrashy guitars and riotous bass lines. Add her enchanting vocal with its cryptic, hook-laden tales of passion and death and the result is an alluring marriage of misdirection and melody. The band's own turbulent dynamic allows this precarious balance to fester. “We have a very obvious love/hate relationship,” muses Sterne, who was Vassil's next door neighbor for several years before the duo met face to face in 2000. Since then the two have been nearly inseparable, “although not necessarily by choice,” she adds. Armed with their self-released 2007 debut “Nothing Left to Bleed On”, recorded with Grammy winner Jason Corsaro (Motorhead, Soundgarden), Ruby Bullet has been storming the NYC music scene. Fans know to expect an intense show with varying line-ups, sometimes with Sterne performing guitar, bass and vocals all at once. With a unique combination of talent, creativity and passion, the duo draws comparisons to music mainstays ranging from Tool and Kate Bush to Rush, Lacuna Coil and Evanescence. Would-be critics looking for a direct influence are hard pressed to find one – their juxtaposition of influences catapults them an entirely new genre.

Search Add 2 Marvin Short The youngest of four, Marvin was raised on a steady diet of country and rock ‘n’ roll music. His dad worked for a US Army munitions plant that was a 6-hour drive away, but performed on nights and weekends with his Country/Western band, Ken Short and the Drifters. “My Daddy made sure to call it Country AND Western,” Marvin said. As Marvin’s singing talent became more obvious, his dad put Marvin on the stage and let him front the band more and more. By the time Marvin was 10 years old, his dad got him gigs on morning TV shows in Tulsa and Oklahoma City and introduced him to the recording studio where he cut his first track on a record. At the age of 12, he won several honors including “Under 16 Male Vocalist Award” and the “Under 16 Male Instrumentalist” from the Oklahoma Opry Association. These days, he’s rockin’ and rollin’ with six of Sedona’s most talented musicians, 5 nights a week, in his own ‘Rock N Roll Dreams’ show at the Encore Theater Sedona.

Search Add 2 Pluton - the Dark Mystic Jens-Peter "JP" Kadelka Pluton, also known as Pluto / Plutos, is the roman god of the underworld and the name giver for live act & dj "Pluton -the Dark Mystic". Techno, especially the more deep & dark versions, in combination with Minimal, TechHouse and Deep House are the favoured musical genres of "Pluton - the Dark Mystic", accompanied by partly self created mystical sounds and effects. So the "God of the Underworld" musically arrived in modern times - that´s the main statement of the sets, gigs & show of "Pluton - the Dark Mystic". The artist has musical experiences as a known dj inside the psytrance scene since 1999. Since 2015 he creates club sounds due to his ideas of rough and a little harsh songs of the past years ... with that decision he returned to an "old love" called Techno. During his real-time track manipulation gigs (one can also say "live remix sets") of up to a maximum of 6 hours (!) PLUTON uses NI Traktor 2 Pro with all four decks and effects, Ableton live, NI Maschine plus different effects and hardware synths & grooveboxes.

After being nourished by other people's music, the desire to produce his own music sprung quite naturally along the way. The plurality of these universes offers the promises of a music which is rich, open, and free from any codes or genre.

Search Add 2 Maxine Vegas Sergio Borromei Sergio Borromei a.k.a. Maxine Vegas, originally from Bahia Blanca, is one of the up and coming dance music producers in the very much new techno-house scene in Buenos Aires (Argentina). And this is how it all began: When he was a mere seven years old, while listening to his fathers Beatles albums, comes to the realization that music was to become a very important part of his life. After many years of studying classic guitar at the music conservatory of his natal city, decides to venture and buy his very first electric guitar, this led to him to start playing and singing in several rocks bands, with a ranging a variety of styles. He later moved to Buenos Aires, to further his involvement in the music world, dedicating much of his time to study music production particularly that of rock, while keeping his day job as an IT consultant since he is a keen computers man. He then decides to merge this latter passion with his first love: technology and the art of blending sounds. This is the time when he becomes acquainted with Waltie whom soon becomes a great friend to him, and together take on the task of putting together project “Hawaii” alongside Lega a.k.a. Plastique Vision. After a couple of releases under this name (like “Pure” for Hernán Cattaneo’s – “Reannaisance”, or “Closed Spaces I & II” for Red Flag Collective label), he started to experiment the art of live-playing, blending minimal-sounds and tecno-loops of his own creations with taylor-made edits of tracks from other artists; all in real time. Maxine Vegas, name inspired by the movie “Being John Malkovich”, a story of alter-egos, very much resembles the double life led by Maxeen and Sergio.
