Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Regarded as the king of Hokkien pop here, he used to be a host at least 20 getai shows and sang at about 80 during the annual Hungry Ghost Festival. He was also a bachelor, and a bankrupt. In 2004, he filed for bankruptcy after his business - producing shows for Taiwanese stars - went bust. He was jailed in 2005 for four months for leaving Singapore without permission despite being a bankrupt. He was released in March for good behaviour. Returning to entertainment, he drew 10,000 fans to two sold-out shows. He was diagnosed with fourth-stage colon cancer in 2005, but he continued to perform to pay for his medical bills. He died of colon cancer on 25 July 2006, which is coincidentally the 1st day of the seventh lunar month, believed by the Chinese as the month of the Hungry Ghost Festival. |

After the band splitted, Kelvin landed to Italy, there, stayed and worked and toured as a session musician with the likes of [a=Wess Johnson], [a=Rocky Roberts], [a=Napoli Centrale], [a=Loredana Bertè], [a=Mario Lavezzi] and [a=Romina Power]. In the mid 70's, Kelvin joined a London based project named Fari with singer [a=Jenny Jackson (2)], signed up with [l=Island Records] and went to Nigeria to record their songs in [a=Ginger Baker]'s recording studio in Lagos. These recordings were never released but tracks from his personal archive can be heard. In the early 80's, together with Italian and American musicians, the album "[m=322611]" was recorded in New York with colabration with Average White Band members. This album was a showcase for Kelvin's talent as a composer, singer, arranger and musician. In 1982, he toured with [a=Pino Daniele] and recorded in [l=Stone Castle Studios], the album "[m=237536]" with [a=Richie Havens] co-writing the song "Stand Up". Around that time, Kelvin moved to Switzerland and released his first single, [r=7350877] on a small indie label named [l=KNSE International]. The 90's found Kelvin teaching, working and recording in Switzerland. Personal project and band Exchange, Monroe, [a=Bettina Schelker], [a=Vic Vergeat] "The Bank". В августе 1989 года, согласно приказу министра обороны СССР Д. Т. Язова, с остальными студентами был досрочно уволен в запас для продолжения учёбы. В 1990 году был капитаном команды КВН ОмИИТа и довел её до городского финала, но команда проиграла. В 1992 году окончил Омский институт инженеров железнодорожного транспорта. После распределения преподавал электротехнику в железнодорожном лицее города Омска. С конца 1993 года по 1998 год работал диджеем на радио «Европа Плюс Омск», в студию приходили известные артисты, среди них: Владимир Винокур, Михаил Жванецкий, Ян Арлазоров, которые говорили, что если Дроботенко хочет добиться большого успеха, то ему нужно попасть на телевидение в Москве. В 1993 году организовывает театр эстрадных миниатюр «БИС», который вскоре становится самым популярным в городе и получает массу призов на студенческих фестивалях в Омске и Томске. С 1995 года по 1997 год учился в школе-студии актёрского мастерства и окончил её по специальности «актёр». В ноябре 1996 года состоялся первый сольный концерт Сергея Дроботенко во Дворце культуры «Звёздный» города Омска. 14 января 1998 года переехал из Омска в Москву, поселился в общежитии гостиничного типа, отдал свои кассеты с записью своих выступлений Регине Дубовицкой и Евгению Петросяну, Петросян ему позвонил через полгода и предложил сделать о нём специальный выпуск «Смехопанорамы» на «Первом канале», он согласился и думал, что за это надо заплатить, но платить ему не пришлось. Дебютирует на столичной сцене ГЦКЗ «Россия» в программе «Ах, анекдот, анекдот». Позднее становится сценаристом и участником этой программы на канале «ТВ Центр». В 1999 году становится лауреатом (третье место) Международного конкурса артистов сатиры и юмора «Кубок Юмора 1999» в Москве, который организовал Евгений Петросян, конкурс лет десять не проводился, он проводился в московском театре «Эрмитаж», в нём принимали участие: Юрий Гальцев, Максим Галкин, Андрей Данилко, «Новые русские бабки», в жюри конкурса были Регина Дубовицкая, Михаил Жванецкий, Анатолий Трушкин, он попал в «Аншлаг». Сначала его взяли в сценаристы «Аншлага», а потом он выступил в Новогоднем «Аншлаге». Он подружился с Максимом Галкиным. В 2000 году вместе с Максимом Галкиным принимал участие в концертах Михаила Задорнова. В том же году купил квартиру в Москве. В 2005 году провёл два бенефисных вечера «И смех, и грех» и «Просто хороший концерт» в ГЦКЗ «Россия». С 2005 года — участник и ведущий Фестиваля сатиры и юмора в Юрмале. |

В настоящий момент продолжает сотрудничество с «Nitrous Promotion Group», «Macrovision Records», «Track System», «E&M Music Production». | Search | Add | 9 | The Sherwoods Of Cornell | The Sherwoods (1956–1973) The Cornell University Glee Club is the oldest student organization at Cornell University, having been organized shortly after the first students arrived on campus in 1868. Over the years, The Glee Club has spawned several spinoff a capella subsets. The club currently has only one official a cappella subset, The Hangovers, but two other spinoff groups, Cayuga's Waiters and The Sherwoods. The Sherwoods were formed in 1958 by renegade choristers who left the Glee Club to form their spin off group. First appearing at the Glee Club's 1956 fall concert, The Sherwoods of Cornell gained prominence quickly among collegiate musical groups. They embarked on their first international tour in the summer of 1957 with an itinerary including Hawaii and the Far East. By 1958, they were a successful act ,in there own right, and were in great demand both on and off campus. This enormous success came at a price, however, and led to conflicts with the Glee Club, which had remained The Sherwoods' parent organization during these formative years. In the fall of 1958, the two organizations split officially. The Sherwoods toured extensively, traveling to Hawaii, the Far East, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, and Jamaica and on two extensive tours for the USO, entertaining troops in the Philippines, and throughout Germany . They commonly wore dark (Sherwood) green jackets and ties for performances. Rather than sing stock arrangements, The Sherwoods wrote their own. They were known for rich 6-8 part harmony music unique among other a cappella groups of their time. The popularity of a cappella singing faded for a period in the early 1970s and The Sherwoods stopped auditioning new members in 1973. It also marked the final year in which the Sherwoods were featured in The Cornellian, Cornell University's annual year book. In 1985 The Class of '65 invited the 'Younger' Sherwoods back to Cornell to entertain them at their 20th reunion. It was the first time in twenty years The Youngers had met to re-learn their songs and practice their entertaining introductions. The 'Younger' Sherwoods have been returning to Cornell's Ithaca campus to perform at reunions every year since 1985, celebrating their 26th annual shows in 2010, once again entertaining the Class of '65, this time at the class's 45th reunion. The 'Founders' Sherwoods gather at various times during the year, continuing to practice and perform the repertoire they sang during their era at Cornell. Between the two Sherwoods groups there are about 45 active Sherwood singers performing today. Noted hit singer/songwriter [a320273] sang with the Sherwoods for several years, writing two songs performed by the group, 'Let me Down Easy' and 'Winter Song'. As an undergraduate, Chapin was preoccupied with his own songwriting, and he eventually dropped out of Cornell University to focus on his early career as a successful singer-songwriter. In 1971 Fred Kewley, Sherwood musical director, became Chapin's Manager through the best years of his career, landing the recording contract with Elektra through his hits Taxi, WOLD, and Cats In The Cradle, etc., and the hundreds of concerts around the USA and Europe. | |

He gained significance in the early 2010s for pioneering the sea-punk cyber genre variant "slimepunk", and in being an producer of witch house music. In addition to working in cyber genres, Nickk Dropkick has worked with and produced music within the industrial music scene, and is an avid jazz producer. Nickk Dropkick gained his first measure of mainstream success within the Canadian industrial metal band "Death Cartel" (signed with Writ in Water Sound Creations, and based in Kitchener, Ontario). From 2008 to 2012 Dropkick was the bassist and occasional lyricist of the band, and gained exposure within the North American and European industrial music scene, touring and opening for bands on the continent and visiting from Europe. In 2010 Dropkick formed the independent side project "N3rgul", where he began to experiment in electronic music and from the industrial music scene, aid in the development of the growing witch house music genre. On witch house music and according to Dropkick on his Rave Leviathan album- "You know that scene in Blade I, where they're in that vampire club and all of a sudden it goes into slow motion and there's a spray of blood pouring from the ceiling? I wanted to make music like that, just heavy, slow, pulsating, and vicious". In keeping within the transgressive industrial spirit and the avant-garde nature of his works he would later be known by, N3rgul's influences and works spanned a range of genres. With the explosion of cyber genres and internet subcultures in the early 2010s, Dropkick would begin production of his own independent variation within the slime punk genre- focusing on a dirtier, wetter, and more bass sounding genre with ties to earlier acid house. According to Dropkick, the genre is meant to be similar in satirization to vaporwave. Whereas vaporwave focuses on re-imagining capitalism and society through an alternate lens in the 1980s, Slimepunk seeks to reimagine the "trashier" aspects of pop culture from the early 2000s- with a slimer variation on seapunk fashion, nickelodeon decals, and imagery and sounds which ooze. Following his leaving the band Death Cartel in 2012, Dropkick began working on a project with fellow noise and hip-hop artist Ripdae la Wise, called "Plebs & Fuckboys". Released via Spettro Rec, the music featured in Plebs & Fuckboys would blend spoken word, hip hop, industrial, rythmic noise, and techno. All artwork for the projects first six albums were created by Dropkick within his "transgressive style".On the artwork, Dropkick claimed to want to "create imagery which made sacred the profane, and profane the sacrosanct". In 2015 Dropkick would return to metal based music with the industrial-black metal project "Vamacara". In this time period he would also begin experimentation with Jazz music and begin making music under the name Nurgul Jones. A significant work produced by Dropkick in this time was his "Co)))ltrane"- a blend of Sunn O))) and John Coltrane, which would help bring attention to and interest in the dark jazz genre of music within internet subcultures. Of Dropkick's music as Nurgul Jones, the works produced under the moniker remain experimental and often blend the skewed music witch house, memphis rap, industrial metal, neo-folk, dark-jazz within his experimental standard. Under Nurgul Jones, Dropkick has created artwork and propaganda for the Order of the Nine Angels and album art for several noise musicians, including Enbilulugugal. A self-taught banjo player, Schmertz became an influential writer of folk songs, many focused on early Pittsburgh lore. His song "Noah Found Grace in the Eyes of the Lord" was recorded by [a=Burl Ives], [a=Tennessee Ernie Ford], the [a=Statler Brothers], [a=Bruce Low], and [a=Gary Crosby]. His song "Monongahela Sal" was covered by [a=Pete Seeger]. As a student, Schmertz also wrote the Carnegie Tartans' fight song, "Fight for the Glory of Carnegie." Schmertz himself only began recording in 1949 when family and friends bought him time in a local recording studio. Only 300 copies of the resulting 78rpm album, "Songs by Robert Schmertz," were produced, but they helped to spread his reputation as the "Stephen Foster of Pittsburgh." In 1955, Schmertz released a second album, "Robert Schmertz Sings His Songs," this time on LP. Two other albums followed, "Sing Oh! the City Oh!: Songs of Early Pittsburgh" ([l=Folkways Records], 1959) and "Ladies Beware of an Architect: Songs for Architects and Their Girlfriends" (1960). | |

Κι επειδή στο σπίτι που μεγάλωσε υπήρχαν παντού μουσικά όργανα [πιάνο, το οποίο έπαιζε η μητέρα του, μαντολίνο και μπουζούκι που έπαιζε ο πατέρας του], από πολύ μικρή ηλικία άρχισε να ενδιαφέρεται για την εκμάθηση μουσικού οργάνου. Τελικά, ως μαθητής Γυμνασίου, κατέληξε στο μπουζούκι, στην εκμάθηση του οποίου είναι αυτοδίδακτος. Άλλωστε, έχει πολύ καλό «μουσικό αυτί» και μπορεί να παίξει στο μπουζούκι οποιαδήποτε μελωδία ακούσει! Τα μουσικά του ακούσματα είναι κυρίως παλιά ρεμπέτικα, λαϊκά και έντεχνα των μεγάλων μας συνθετών, τα οποία αγαπά πολύ να παίζει στο μπουζούκι, αλλά και όλο το φάσμα της ροκ μουσικής, που είναι η άλλη μεγάλη του αγάπη [από το παλαιό ροκ και μπλουζ/ροκ των 60ς και 70ς μέχρι χέβι μέταλ των 80ς]! Και φυσικά λατρεύει τους «τραγουδοποιούς», αυτούς δηλαδή που τα κάνουν όλα μόνοι τους, και στίχους και μουσική και ερμηνεία: Και Έλληνες τραγουδοποιούς [Λοϊζο, πρώτο και καλύτερο, Σαββόπουλο, Θανάση Παπακωνσταντίνου κλπ] και ξένους τραγουδοποιούς [απόCat Stevens μέχρι τον πολύ αγαπημένο σύγχρονο Βρετανό τραγουδοποιό Richard Hawley]! Τα πρώτα του τραγούδια άρχισε να τα γράφει στα φοιτητικά χρόνια του στη Θεσσαλονίκη γύρω στο 1991, έχοντας ως «ήρωες» των τραγουδιών συμφοιτητές και συμφοιτήτριές του! Αυτά τα «πρωτόλεια» τραγούδια τα έγραφε σε κασέτες, που ηχογραφούσε στο φοιτητικό του δωμάτιο με τη φωνή του και το μπουζούκι του, τις οποίες στη συνέχεια μοίραζε σε φίλους και γνωστούς! Την περίοδο 1996 – 1998 υπηρετούσε τη στρατιωτική θητεία του κάνοντας ατέλειωτες ώρες σκοπιάς [ιδίως «γερμανικά νούμερα»]! Και για να περνάνε ανώδυνα αυτές οι ατέλειωτες ώρες του «σκοπάνθρωπου», στριφογυρνούσαν συνεχώς στο μυαλό του κατά την ώρα της σκοπιάς ιδέες για μελωδίες, στίχους, θέματα τραγουδιών κλπ! Έτσι, όταν απολύθηκε απ’ το στρατό, εκτός από την αγωνία για επαγγελματική αποκατάσταση – η δουλειά του, απ’ την οποία βιοπορίζεται, δεν έχει καμία σχέση με μουσική – τον έπιασε άλλη μια «αγωνία» : Έπρεπε οπωσδήποτε να ηχογραφήσει το υλικό του – τα τραγούδια που «μαζεύτηκαν» τόσα χρόνια – σε δίσκο, έπρεπε οπωσδήποτε να βγάλει την προσωπική του δισκογραφική δουλειά! Και τελικά... ούτε που κατάλαβε ότι, ασκώντας τη δύσκολη και πολύ υπεύθυνη δουλειά απ’ την οποία βιοπορίζεται, έφτασε, εντέλει, σε σημείο να ηχογραφήσει εννέα (9) δισκογραφικές δουλειές! Αυτές, δε, τις δισκογραφικές δουλειές, σε δικούς του στίχους, μουσική και ενορχήστρωση, τις έβγαλε ο ίδιος, με δική του παραγωγή και δικά του έξοδα, και στη συνέχεια δεν τις προώθησε στο εμπόριο! Τις διακίνησε ο ίδιος, είτε ταχυδρομικώς είτε χέρι με χέρι, προσφέροντάς τες κυρίως ως δώρο, απρόβλεπτο και ανέλπιστο, όχι μόνο σε συγγενείς και φίλους, αλλά και σε αγνώστους. | |

His performances were recorded in four albums, which demonstrate his considerable capacities as a performer. Joaquim Simões da Hora’s professional activity also extended to the domain of pedagogy, in which he reformed the organ class of the Conservatório Nacional, where he taught between 1977 and 1995. In addition to his activities as performer and teacher, throughout his career he was deeply involved in publicising the heritage of Portuguese music, especially in relation to the organ, as well as in producing and providing musical supervision of many of the sound recordings of classical music published in Portugal in the last three decades of the 20th century. Joaquim Simões da Hora left this world in April 1996. He remains, however, as one of the great organists of recent history. | Search | Add | 8 | Joy Peck | Adapted from the Age's obituary: Joy Peck (9 Oct 1928 - 3 Feb 2008) was one of Australia's more notable naive painters. The daughter of a craftsman, she was born in Ballarat but grew up with her sisters Val and Bernice in Warrnambool. As a child she suffered from allergies, which kept her away from school: this left her with a sense of the fragility of life, but also with a great love of it. She sang in public, danced, and later gave memorable parties. But her great love soon became painting. Peck was trained by Sir William Dargie at the National Gallery School, and her canvases soon abounded in strong colours, mists, and children and child-like faces. The critic Phillip Adams once observed: "Joy appears to live in a world without war, aggression or cruelty, where affection would be as luxuriant as foliage, where the very light would be infused with love." If earlier in life her painting had been partly in denial, as she aged it was more in a spirit of rebuttal. Peck was concerned about the injustices of the world — perhaps more so after visiting the ruins of a village in France that the Nazis had vengefully destroyed, killing everybody in it. Sometimes the darker element crept into her painting: there is a swirling, elemental terror evident in her Loch Ard series, in which she painted the famous shipwreck. And for someone so much at home in the fantastic, her portraits could be surprisingly gritty. Peck exhibited from 1960 until 1997 in Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane as well as in a number of Melbourne galleries, including Realities, Manyung, and the South Yarra and Eltham galleries. Significantly, she was asked to submit work for the 1978 Biennale in Limoges. This French city, where she lived for some months, is the world centre for enamelling, a craft much more developed in the francophone world than elsewhere. Later she exhibited at another enamellists' biennale in Quebec. Lively and colourful, Peck is associated with two bohemian moments — Eltham in the 1950s and '60s, and Fitzroy from the 1970s to the '90s. In Eltham, she and her husband, Hal, were part of a circle that included Tim and Betty Burstall, Clifton Pugh and other artists. Barry Humphries had a walk-on part. Down the hill lived John and Inga Clendinnen. Many people found their way to the Pecks' ample, mud-brick house; among them was a young schoolboy, Phillip Adams. Peck was an early encourager, and he remained a lifelong friend. For the last 25 years of her life, Peck set up her easel on a cast-iron balcony overlooking Moor Street, Fitzroy. In her long dresses, picture hat and flashes of purple and green, she was often seen on the arm of her son Marcus, going out for coffee. She died of died from cancer at St Vincent's Hospital at the age of 79. | |

The original idea was about a remixers' team but soon it turned into an original project with the first single release "Ghaidi (Welcome To Bulgaria)". Its an original dance track featuring the sound of an authentical bulgarian music instrument big pipe. The result was unbelievable and the track became a summer hit in Bulgaria during 1996. The bulgarian national soccer team chose it as its official hymn for the Euro Games '96, the dutch company ToCo International signed it for distribution and the single was released in different compilations for 36 contries. The single was presented on popular radio shows for BBC and Billboard. The bulgarian traditional folklore voices and instruments like ghaida (big pipe), kaval and tambura, mixed with dance music, became a trade mark of the band and the following singles "Goro", "Horo", "Kaval", were sticked to this style. In 1998 the band changed a bit its members and turned the name into The Bisquits Project. With the new female dancer and singer Biliana (Bi) they started producing new singles like "The Return" following the current dream dance style at the end of the 90s. They had a lot of live and tv performances, also the singles got many airplays in radio and tv shows. After the release of their album "The Return" in 1998, the band took a pause and the lead producers started solo carrers releasing some singles under the alias Alex and Dj T60. In 2014, one of the main producers - Dj Tisho, decided to relive the project and make a comeback, changing its name again to The New Bisquits Project. He remixed the old 90's singles into a new updated versions and recorded some brand new songs like "Bela Beka", "White Rose" and "Pilence Pee", in the same formula of traditional bulgarian folk melodies mixed with house music. All new songs, mixes and original singles were released in the new album entitled "DG / BG" ("Digital / Bulgarian"). "Bela Beka" was chosen for the first single of the album, featuring the folklore singer Nikoleta. The band added a permanent drummer in 1978. The Brass Band's performances combined a wide range of musical sources with jazz improvisation and elements of theatre and cabaret, Brecht/Eisler material, William Blake poems, built around the compositions and arrangements of Mike Westbrook. The band has performed in a great variety of situations, from concert halls, cathedrals, theatres, clubs and pubs, to shopping centers, piers and park band-stands. Romark was a fascinating hypno-therapist and in 1971 he allegedly hypnotised an audience of smokers and 1000 of them gave up smoking. Among some of his more colourful encounters is the curse he reputedly placed on the Crystal Palace football team and an attempt to hypnotise Muhummad Ali into losing to Yorkshire boxer Richard Dunn in 1976. He is reputedly the first man to "die'" on stage by hanging for nearly four minutes before bringing himself to life again. He holds five records in the Guiness Book of Records for the longest-running one-man show. Romark is also infamous for attempting to prove his psychic powers by driving a car blindfolded which resulted in a collision with a police car. He was also an actor, appearing in Mannix (1967), Flip (1970) and The Merv Griffin Show (1962). Romark died of a stroke in December 1982 in Torbay, Devon, England, not long after being released from prison where he served a 4 and a half month stretch for embezzling cash from his mother while she was ill in hospital. |
