Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | The New Lightweights | When Ariel Posen, Alexa Dirks and Ryan Voth first formed The New Lightweights in early 2008, it was a way for three long-time friends to get together and make music they enjoyed. They began writing together, and in 2009 they released an EP of all original material that received critical acclaim and heavy CBC rotation. The sum of all their parts creates a sound that is soulful and fresh with Dirks' siren voice, Ariel's melodic guitar playing and Ryan's dynamic and precise drumming at the forefront. They bring together their love and knowledge of folk, pop and soul music and turn it into something captivating for the ears and the heart. The New Lightweights is music that speaks of love, loss and what keeps us all together.

Search | Add | 2 | Rex Battle | Rex Battle. Pianist, bandleader, conductor, composer, b London 4 Jan 1892 (1895?), d Toronto 27 Jan 1967. A child prodigy, he had his first piano lessons with Vlahol Budmani, who presented him at Buckingham Palace. Battle later studied organ with E.H. Thorne. After several tours in Australia he settled in New York, where he assisted Sigmund Romberg in the production of operettas. He resumed his career as a pianist with a series of broadcasts in 1921 on WWJ, Detroit, then played 1922-9 at the Mount Royal Hotel, Montreal. He was conductor 1929-38 of the Royal York Hotel Concert Orchestra, Toronto, which was heard in the USA on the NBC network for several years, and he also conducted an orchestra, chorus, and soloists for broadcast 1930-1 on the CPR network. He formed in 1934 one of Canada's first (jazz) big bands; with Trump Davidson and Cliff McKay among its members, it performed in the summer of 1935 at Bob-Lo Island near Detroit. After three years in New York, where he studied piano with Moriz Rosenthal and Hedwig Kanner-Rosenthal, performed and conducted, Battle appeared in 1941 as pianist with the Promenade Symphony Concerts in Toronto. Soon after he returned to live in Toronto, where he served 1943-56 as music director and conductor of CBC radio's 'Singing Stars of Tomorrow'. In 1962 he began performing with young operatic singers of his choice at Toronto's Gaslight Restaurant. Battle composed a short orchestral piece, Simon Says 'Thumbs Up ' (Thompson), as well as morceaux for piano, violin, and voice. His few 78s for Apex as a pianist (in Chopin and Liszt) and accompanist (to Ernest-Gill Plamondon, Roy O'Connor and Leon Kofman) are listed in Roll Back The Years. Apex 78s attributed to 'Rex Battle And His Dance Orchestra' or 'Rex Battle and His Mount Royal Hotel Orchestra' have been disputed by Battle and are possibly examples of his name simply being used as a pseudonym for recordings by other artists.

Search | Add | 2 | The Unhooked Generation | Unhooked Generation AKA The Unhooked Generation Show Band, were an eight piece group formed out of Jerry Green’s group The Sonic Sounds in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Along with Jerry the band included several other members that would progress to make a mark in the business. In the early day the group rehearsed hard and played any and all the gigs they could around their home town. The band’s members waxed and waned over the years but included, Ron Lewis, Linda Blakely, Ervin Garr, Angelo Lovely, David Pepper, Donna Mason, Crystal Hals, Barry Johnson, Fred Thomas, Marion Hester, Larry Smith, John Clay & Izzy Sutton. They built up a cool reputation as a great show band, playing a great funk sound in the Earth Wind & Fire vein. In time they cut a number of tracks but none made it to vinyl until they saw posthumous release as a CD LP ‘Thanks for the memories’ in 2001. Ron Lewis decided to release two of the Lo-Fi deep funk sides from their catalogue that he had been asked for many years for in 2016 on single

In March 1974 the band formed the Vintage Jazz Society of Brisbane and operated successfully at the Twelfth Night Theatre Club for six years. In 1981 the band opened their own jazz club, Jabbo’s, in Brisbane. The Vintage Jazz And Blues Band’s success peaked in the mid-80s when the essential line-up was Tich Bray (b. 22 December 1924, Geelong, Victoria, Australia, d. 1988) who replaced Jenner, John Braben, Mike Hawthorne, Bob Watson (drums), John Cox (banjo), and Paula Cox (vocals). The Vintage Jazz And Blues Band was one of Australia’s most durable groups in the traditional jazz genre. Performing classic early jazz and blues with feeling and authenticity, it was never less than inspiring and was often dynamic

Search | Add | 2 | Harold L. Paulsen | February 21, 1917 – August 1, 2015 "Harold L. Paulsen, a well known insurance and investment representative, popular singer and speaker, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015. He packed a lot into his 98 years of life. Harold joined the Army in 1941. Two years later, he was accepted to Officer Candidate School and received his commission as an Air Force Statistical Officer from Harvard School of Business Administration. He served with the 8th Air Force in England for 28 months and was discharged in December 1945 with the rank of Captain. Harold was devoted to his Lord and church. As a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed, he led the building of the new church as the building committee chair. There he served as Sunday School Superintendent for five years, provided his musical talent and “filled” the church pulpits on several occasions in the pastor’s absence. Those who have attended the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast since it started in the early 1960’s were treated to Harold’s speaking and singing. Harold did a lot for a lot of people, but will remembered most for his terrific singing. He also sang for most of the Montana Governors during his lifetime, commencing with Governor John E. Erickson. One of his most memorable highlights was as a soloist for the 8th Air Force Glee Club in the Nuremberg Opera House in Germany at the end of WWII. He once shared the stage with the late Norman Vincent Peale." from helenafuneralhome.com

Search | Add | 2 | Masanobu Ikemiya | MASANOBU IKEMIYA | Classical pianist, ragtime afficionado, peace activist, organic farmer. Masanobu Ikemiya was born in China to Japanese parents, grew up in Kyoto and Kansas, and was educated at Oberlin College Conservatory and Indiana University, and has received world-wide attention for his many concerts throughout Japan, Mexico, Argentina, Taiwan, Cambodia, Philippines, Bulgaria, El Salvador, the former Soviet Union, Portugal, Brazil, Guam, Hawaii, India, Korea, Canada, and the United States. In 1972, he came to Maine to join the Zen Buddhist Monastery in Surry where he was a practicing monk for 10 years. In 1980, he founded the Arcady Music Festival, of which he was the artistic director for 24 years. Many of you may have had the opportunity to attend some of his performances, or have seen or heard him on Public Television or Public Radio. Mr. Ikemiya developed an interest in American ragtime music while volunteering at a homeless shelter started by Mother Teresa in Harlem. He has made 5 ragtime CD’s and was nominated for a Grammy Award for the album, “Ragtime Classics” in 1994. He certainly has given “new life” to this American Art Form. Since 1995, he has toured annually in Japan with members of the New York Philharmonic and with the New York Ragtime Orchestra of which he is the founder-leader-pianist. He also appeared with them at the 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration at the United Nations and received an award from the UN for promoting world peace through music. Mr. Ikemiya has appeared in solo recitals at New York’s Lincoln Center and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., and other venues. With the invitation from Peace & Justice Center of Maine, Mr. Ikemiya has honored the anniversaries of Hiroshima by giving concerts in memory of the bomb victims and to promote peace in our world. In recognition of this peacemaking quality of his work, he has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards. The Philharmonic Society of Kaugan, Russia, presented Mr. Ikemiya with an Honorary Certificate for strengthening the friendship between Siberian and American people through music. In addition, Mr. Ikemiya received an Official Recognition Award from the Maine State Senate for his “contribution to the cultural life of the state.” He has stated that he and his wife Tomoko are presently trying to simplify their lives. They are enjoying a self-sustaining life style with organic farming at their permaculture homestead with a passive solar house on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Mr. Ikemiya’s teacher was the late Frank Glazer, who he considers to be the most life changing influence on his piano playing. Ragtime Audiences’ enthusiasm for his ragtime performances, led Ikemiya to found the New York Ragtime Orchestra in 1995. Ikemiya is credited with introducing ragtime to Japan, and tours the country with his orchestra regularly, recently performing at the Osaka Dome for 47,000 people. He is frequently invited to perform at various ragtime festivals include the Scott Joplin Festival (Sedalia, Missouri) and has recorded seven ragtime albums including “Ragtime Classics”. Artistic Director During his 24 years as Artistic Director of the Arcady Music Festival (which he founded in 1980), Ikemiya had to opportunity to bring artists of incredible diversity and talent from around the world to the scenic coastal towns of Northern Maine. In 1990 he brought the St. Petersburg Boys choir to the festival to perform with a local children's choir which formed powerful bonds in the wake of the Cold War. His work for Arcady was featured on CBS Sunday Morning and he received an award from the Maine State Senate for his “contribution to the cultural life of the state.” Peace Activist In recognition of the peacemaking quality of his work, Ikemiya has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards. He was given an award by the United Nations for “Promoting World Peace”; the Philharmonic Society of Krugan, Siberia, presented Mr. Ikemiya with an Honorary Certificate for strengthening the friendship between Siberian and American people through music. Background Ikemiya was born in China to Japanese parents, grew up in Kyoto and then later moved with his family to Kansas. He studied at Oberlin Conservatory (B.M.) and Indiana University (M.M.). He lives with his wife on Mount Desert Island, Maine in a passive solar house where they enjoy organic farming on their permaculture homestead, volunteer work and music. Search | Add | 2 | Grotoko | Winnipeg's Grotoko is an art rock project, drawing inspiration from punk, grunge, and classical music. Its name is a collage of the words "rococo" and "grotesque". Using melodic lines and a confessional, sometimes sarcastic, non-sense lyrical style, it is a celebration of emotions, attempting to create something mildly beautiful from some uglier things in human experience.

Search | Add | 2 | Conconquidore Truidore | Conconquidore Truidore is a psychedelic music group from Toronto led by Rob Cole, active mostly between 2005 and 2012. Described by the band: "Melodies are sung or whistled and then translated onto various instruments*. The band is directed by one, and stars 5 more**. Sometimes the players play what's written for them. Other times they play for themselves until the director stops them and says "Perfect, again!" It is somewhat theatrical, aiming to sound like images, a soundtrack to itself. Some sounds are secretly borrowed from the world. Some melodies have been dreamt and some lyrics have been hallucinated. Some words are made up, and some syllables are sung strangely to sound wrong. It is full of subliminal code. Not. Its favourite instruments are those that can be played in parks. Its favourite concepts are those that "serve as the axe for the frozen sea within us." It longs for a dignified colour palette, but can't seem to say no to any colour. It longs longer and longer everyday. * guitars, pianos, flutes, banjos, harmonicas, erhus, saxophones, accordions jembes, sound recordings (Etc) ** Rob Cole, Julia Carney, Kyle McQueston, Alexander R. Arvelo McQuaig, Nicholas Kerr, Tristan Murphy, Courtney Arthur, Paul Castrodale (etc)."
