Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Trained Attack Dogs | Trained Attack Dogs (TAD) was a Philly band from the mid-to-late 1980s. Based in West Philly, it was a 3 piece ensemble that sometimes swelled to 5 people, depending on who was drumming or playing guitar. Primarily, TAD consisted of Keith Souder (vocals), Ken Kramar (guitar) and John Manhardt (bass and personality). Drummers rotated until we settled with Rich Poor (Rich Hoak) in 1989. David Thrower also played guitar with TAD in 1988 and 1989. Debuting in 1986 with Eddie Hacksaw on WKDU with the ever-popular cassette "Nazis ate Granny's Gladiolas", TAD was featured on the now legendarily defunct RAVE Records label on the "Discpan Hands" compilation in 1987, and the self-released "Pizza" EP in 1988. TAD gigged regularly all over the eastern half of the US, and appeared regularly as the house darlings of Club Revival (Revive-Hell) in Philadelphia, where the "Lotsa Fun" cassette was recorded. The band broke up in a blaze of glory in 1989 when everybody finally figured out they were sick of each other. Subsequently, John Manhardt served a three year prison term for the murder of Ken Kramar, until evidence was shown in appeals that Ken wasn't dead, just a very low key individual. Rich Hoak has performed with many bands, including the Grindcore mega-freight-train, Brutal Truth and currently TFD. David embarked on a journey of self-discovery in Thailand; both the drug trafficking and sex charges were ultimately dropped, enabling Dave to return home to Philadelphia. Keith moved to Brooklyn in the early 90's... having spent 5 years at the bottom of the East River, he finally surfaced in Philly after his cement shoes loosened.

Search | Add | 4 | Finger Blas | Blas Finger | Blas Finger, a trained drummer, nowadays a multi-instrumentalist who uses musical tools as his way of expression and search. His musical path started in 2005-2006, when he became a member of the instrumental rock band Las Cosas and understood that recording albums was the way to go: create, make decisions, leave a record and move forward. This was followed by three studio albums released on CD, one live and a digital EP edition. To edit this material, the band created Prius Discos, a record label that has already released 77 albums of various projects and artists. In 2011 he joined Compañero Asma as a drummer to participate in the albums Mágica Posesión and Templado and became a collaborator and satellite of the band. 2012 he started collecting records (a lifelong passion, in different formats: cassette in his childhood, later cd and vinyl) and DJing. Playing records became a means of survival for him. In 2014 he participated with other DJs in the foundation of Family Affair, a cultural collective for the diffusion of ideas and music, and turned to electronic music as his own language and sound. That same year he composed, together with Pablo Spretz, the music for the short film Viedma. The duo Finger-Spretz would later found a musical project and label called Doble Moral which released a split cassette in 2017. During the period 2016-2018 he concentrated on developing his character as an electronic musician playing in a live format searching for the balance point between his major influences: kraut, ambient and electronic track music. In November 2017 the first solo work of Finger Blas -Infancia tardía- was released by Prius Discos in which he wanted to deepen this hybrid of electronic music and genres such as kraut and even dub. In May 2020 he released his next work, the EP “Cuatro notas para un futuro nuevo”, a work with an intimate tone (produced entirely in the Argentine lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic) in which confinement, uncertainty, sound experimentation and the search for freedom coexist in an ambiguous way. In November, in the middle of a musical clairvoyance, “Horas doradas” (Golden Hours) appears, his second album of 2020, a strange and painful year for the whole humanity. In 2021 Blas release by himself on Bandcamp his most ambicious work, "La Zona", a techno/electro-oriented 35 mins album. |

Search | Add | 4 | Johnny Denis | Denis Ernest Wheeler | “Sheriff” Johnny Denis, novelty and country music performer was born on 27 February 1913 in Willesden, London, England. He emigrated to America and died on 5 January 2010, aged 96, in Palatka, Putnam County, Florida, USA. He was active in Britain during the 1940s and early 1950s. He moved to the United States in 1955 and shortly afterwards he was based in Las Vegas. Denis was English and became a semi-professional musician in the mid-1930s, accomplished on guitar and steel as well as being a whistler (some of his recordings here suggest a new genre, Whistling Western Swing). He adopted a fully ‘cowboy’ image in the 1950s through his BBC series Way Out West, and he owned several horses, which he incorporated into his act. Denis moved to the US in 1954, achieving some popularity, especially in Vegas and Reno, and issuing three LPs. A CD was compiled, mainly focusing on his 1940s recordings, mostly in the small-band western swing style. It includes versions of Sweet Georgia Brown and Sweet Sue, featuring Danny Levan’s fiddling and Canadian/British bass player Jack Fallon. Liner notes were written by Kevin Coffee, who managed to track Denis down, long resident in the US and well into his 90s. Denis was survived by his wife, Emily Wheeler (neé Hartnett). |

In the mid-sixties, he learned how to play the oboe, the flute and the guitar, with which he performed in a baroque ensemble and in jazz and rock'n'roll groups. His love of traditional folk music led him to the Scottish bagpipes in 1969-70 and to England, Scotland and Ireland. Later on he discovered the Northumbrian and Irish bagpipes, in 1973. Since then he has collected more than 30 bagpipes (all of which he plays) from Europe and the Middle East.

Search | Add | 4 | Pete Smolen | Peter Nathen Smolen | Was located in Columbia, South Carolina and was co-owner of Ripete Records. Peter "Pete" Nathen Smolen, age 76, died Aug. 2, 2023, after a 13-year stay of cancer that he never let define him. Pete was born in 1947 in New York City and spent his youth in White Plains, N.Y., and then in Ahoskie, N.C. He graduated from Duke University in 1969 with a degree in history, after an about-turn from pre-med, and then promptly didn't use either degree in his start at Record Bar, a music store chain based in Durham where he soon became a buyer. Looking for a city to start his own music store business, Pete moved his family to Columbia, S.C., where he resided for the remainder of his years. His first Sounds Familiar location opened in 1976 in Landmark Square in Columbia, SC. Over the years, Sounds Familiar grew to three locations in Columbia SC with stores in Myrtle Beach SC, Charlotte NC and Asheville NC at times. He was also part-owner of Paradise Records in Fayetteville, N.C., Greenstreets music club in Columbia and Carolina beach music label Ripete Records, which he ran with partner-in-crime and good friend Marion (Rion) Carter. He loved a nightly Dewar's on the rocks, Duke basketball, floating on the Black River with friends, old movies (even if the movie didn't age well) and music, especially rock 'n' roll and R&B – John Prine, Otis Redding, The Who. But he also loved the Bee Gees, Master P and Lil' Kim for all the money they made for Sounds Familiar. Although beach music was very good to him, he never did learn how to dance the shag. Search | Add | 4 | Dorotabou | どろたぼう (Dorotabou) | Aburadako and The Stalin inspired Japanese punk band from Kobe, consisted of [a=Laukaus] and [a=Kruw] members. Active from 2004 to 2006. Dorotabou was formed while Laukaus was still active. The band members operated their own label [l=生存不能 レコード] (Seizon Funo Records). "Dorotabou "Kyomu no kukan" MCDR - The first track starts you off on a march reminiscent of the hard punk of The Stalin and the second track doesn't relent, but turns the march to high gear with the only break the chants of "ASA! HIRU! BAN!!" with a high-pitched scream reminiscent of Yokai from Laukaus/Kruw on their recent recordings. By "Niku" (not a Stalin cover) the listener gets a chance to slow down and shuffle their feet a bit into the fourth track, a downward spiral into madness, only broken by shouted-out gang vocals. Picture a Japanese Igyy Pop with his throng of devoted fans pumping their fists and working themselves into a frenzy by the end of the song - that's how this one goes. After five tracks of solid hard punk, you're treated to an Aburadako cover ("Erusaremu no kutsujyoku") that's done quite well. This one is recommended for fans of Aburadako, The Stalin, SS, and other classic Japanese bands before Gism took over and turned punk on its ear." (by Terminal Boredom) |

Search | Add | 4 | Caleb Macken | Irish music producer, audio engineer and DJ. A fan of music growing up, it wasn't until Caleb found hip-hop and DJing that he saw his path into becoming a musician. Immersing himself in the art form, he taught himself how to cut and scratch by listening to DJ Premier cut-up scratch hooks on Gangstarr albums. He soon graduated into production and forged a career as a hip-hop producer under the alias DJ M-1. Releasing numerous albums on labels such as Chopped Herring Records and Tuff Kong Records, his music received airplay from various radio shows, including none other than DJ Premier himself. In 2023, Caleb released his first track under his own name, 'Dub Cut 1', on the vinyl compilation 'MOVE' from Mines Clarence Records. The track, an electronic dub workout, explores Caleb's influences in the electronic music world. His music retains that early influence of analog 90's hip-hop production, giving texture and warmth to his music.
