These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

The band was originally formed by Kirt, Oaf & Cliff who all attended Westcliff High School together. The band was later complimented by the addition of Hadleigh's greatest musical export - Snowboy - sometime in early 1983 after a chance meeting with Kirt at Honky Tonk music store (in Hadleigh, Essex, UK) earlier that year. The original 3-piece band practiced in Oaf's bedroom with pretty minimal equipment. The first song to be written was 20,000 Souls - a chorus chant about West Ham United's Upton Park football ground in East London. The band's output was marked by three relatively distinct phases. Early Period: 1981 to early 1982 A period of early exploration and experimentation - usually undertaken in Oaf's bedroom-cum-studio or Kirt's lounge. Snowboy was not a member at this time and no polished recordings were made and just one gig performed (Zero 6 where all these songs were performed). Songs written at this time included In Remembrance of M.P. (about a good friend, Mark Paveley, who tragically killed himself while only 18 years old) and Jazz-Funk - a concoction of self-indulgent solo Fender-Rhodes improvised jazz riffs (in the vein of the jazz-funk style popular at the time) and an eccentric cacophony of sounds and effects resulting from feeding the Dr. Rhythm through a Big Muff distortion peddle and a Korg x911 guitar synthesizer Mid Period: 1982 to early 1984 This was the most productive era and was marked by Snowboy joining the band (any connection anyone?). Bodyrock was written and Damarge played at The Cliffs Pavilion band contest (one of the biggest venues in Essex). This phase marked the use of more sophisticated equipment, notably - all be it on day hire - the E-mu Drumulator sample drum machine and completion of the main demo tape using some borrowed digital effects. Other songs written/recorded here was Cold (a 5 minute instrumental that would be described as Dark Ambient nowadays and of which only a couple minutes survive), I Feel Love (the classic Donna Summer track) and Break On Through (To The Other Side) - a cover of the classic Doors song. Late Period: 1984 This period was marked by a more fragmented set of styles and a few songs that were never recorded but performed live a few times. These songs include Bostok & Chandler (the authors of an A-level mathematics text book), O.B.N. and Heteroman - an outrageously pumping gay-disco anthem with a catchy Eastern-style riff. The band never officially broke-up, members just went on to do their own things and still keep in touch. | Search | Add | 3 | Alexis Mazzoleni | Hello Rockin’ Friends When Thierry Los, the producer of this record, asked me to write these liner notes, I accepted because it was an honor for me to have taken part in this adventure with my musician friends Philippe Almosnino, Fabrice Lombardo and Alain Chenneviere. This record contains covers of songs by Elvis Presley as well as Country guitar works reminiscent of Chet Atkins, everything recorded by Thierry Los on analog gear at Studio Le Val in Paris western suburbs on May 9th and 10th 2000. Just another rock guitar record ? Perhaps, but here’s the deal : this record has a story. It was a project devised by an illustrious client who shook up the history of popular music : Mr Scotty Moore ! Believe or not, the “King” Elvis Presley’s lead guitar player asked French musicians to record this demo tape with a solo album in mind. Even though this album was never released, at least we take pride in the fact that we were selected to see it though by “the guitar that changed the world” himself. While listening to these sessions, I am reminded of the mood that took over us then, both overwhelmed by the weight of the project and the fun we had doing it, as we were well aware we were doing some really special work and about to make a record with Scotty Moore, Elvis’s guitar player ! The Scotty Moore Project linked Elvis, Country guitar works and Jazz through covers of songs played in an American 1950’s state of mind and sound. “I’ll never stand in your way” harkens to the Sun Studio sound, innovated by Scotty Moore and Bill Black, coming through both my playing and Fabrice’s double bass. Our version of “Young and Beautiful” is highlighted by our Jazz approach. “City By Night” and “Wonderful World”, both titles from 1960’s Elvis films soundtracks, border on Easy Listening. Also included are covers of “Memphis Blues” and “ One Man Boogie”, both songs recorded initially by Chet Atkins and that I had originally performed live with my band the night I met DJ Fontana and Scotty Moore. Furthermore, three original songs that I wrote are featured, recorded in those lovely days of May as well. Now it is time for you to discover this colorful set list. By releasing these sessions, we would like to pay tribute to the genius of Scotty Moore, as well as to Elvis Presley and Chet Atkins. I would also thank Elvis My Happiness and Jean-Marie Pouzenc. Clifford Warne studied film and television techniques in the United States in 1955-56 before becoming the first director of the Church of England Television Society (now Anglican Media) in 1957. Clifford produced thousands of hours of television programs for the Seven, Nine and Ten Networks for a period of over forty years. He directed, produced and scripted Australian children shows like the ‘Whatsiname Show’, featuring the puppet Gus, ‘Sing Me A Rainbow’ and ‘Reach For A Rainbow’, as well as acclaimed documentaries, ‘That Man From Nazareth’ and ‘Exploring Jerusalem’. Clifford Warne became one of Australia’s longest running presenters with a career on the Seven Network that spanned 37 years. He eventually received the Order of Australia for his services to children’s television.Clifford Warne died of a heart attack in his Neutral Bay home on the morning of Wednesday, May 14th,2003, leaving behind him an unsurpassed legacy of Christian programming and educational material. Medicinarspexet is still active and is run by students in health science educations at Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. In Medicinarspexet, both women and men are on stage. The spex is played with various historical events or fictional works as a background and is performed to a live orchestra with string, wind and comp section. The singers speak and sing without electric amplification. Performance venues are usually the Stenhammarsalen, the back pocket of Gothenburg's concert hall. The script is written by a special author committee, Författeriet. The music is arranged especially for the orchestra and lyrics are written by various old singers according to the motto "to combine new lyrics with classical music so that the music feels new and the lyrics become classical". In addition to the orchestra and actors on stage (stage goers), the spex engages many more groups. Their commitments include decor (plank), clothing, makeup, sound, lighting, subtitling, tickets, contacts and peripheral arrangements. Often about fifty people are involved. Medicinarspexet has a rich exchange with the sister spexet at the Swedish-language medical education in Helsinki, the "Medicinarklubben Thorax". Each spex goes on tour to the other once a year. | |
