Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 xtfunk2 sergio XTFUNK2.. Under this alias is the veteran Asturian DJ and collector, Sergio Rodríguez, and we say veteran because he was one of the key people in the underground musical network of the city of Gijón since the early 90s. Influenced by garage, Chicago music and the acid-house movement, in 1995 he founded Metro Club Gijón, developing the activity for successive years. His participation in the emblematic Chemistry (Gijón) with the Club Culture project and his residences in the Warsaw and Bossanova, -common stops on the night route of Oviedo and Gijón at the end of the 90s-, stimulated his taste for the disco music, deep house and the more natural sounds of dance music. In the year 2000, his vision of the essence of the club would be recorded with the creation of the Romano club, a musical space converted into a meeting point for nights in Gijón. owns 2 labels..Soy punk pero me gusta el funk.records and Metrojackbeat.records..., an epic universe that will be assembled as an infectious mix of jacking beats, 303 riffs, raw disco and electronica, presented in solid and rigorous 12"s . From the beginning to the present, Sergio has been linked to the scene, frequently participating in independent events, in addition to having continued to manically load his personal discotheque with rare pieces and out-of-print editions.

Search Add 3 Maki Polne Michal Kowalczyk Born and raised in Poznan, Poland. The close neighborhood of Berlin had a strong influence on his music education and helped to develop the one passion that continues to guide Maki through his life - the love for quality sound. But it's in his hometown where besides running radio shows, organizing his first events and beginning to DJ and collect music, he graduated the highly acclaimed studies in acoustics - Audio Engineering at the Adam Mickiewicz University. Studying in Winter, during Summer time the love to party would bring him to Ibiza where he experienced first hand the rise of contemporary minimal style. A pair of own technics and a first record bag followed. His devotion to music and sound wouldn't go unattended, soon after he was playing for Zoo Project, Privilage and many bars, boat and after parties around the island. The longtime passion for electronic music led Maki to settle down in Berlin. For some years he organized a successful monthly "MySundays" event series at now dysfunct KaterHolzig. More recently he got the chance to throw some parties at infamous Club der Visionaere and these days Maki is clubs regular. He can be found there, hosting numerous nights or by one of many surprise after party appearances. Having played in both, major clubs and more intimate venues, Maki has developed a unique style. Difficult to encapsulate in one genre, his focus is to create a moment and a story, following the mood of the party rather than classifications. When not in the club, Maki spends most of his time in the studio and is currently breaking through as a highly crafted producer. With releases on labels like VinylClub, Melisma and Amaniel, expect lots more to come soon!

Search Add 3 Jerry McCann Jerry McCann has been playing music professionally since he started his first band in junior high. The Tridents specialized in rhythm-and-blues, soul, and later on, surf music. There was no regular singer, but sometimes singers would sit in if the pay was right. Jerry played with The Tridents up through his early high school years, when the success of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones made it, Jerry formed a new band, The Orfuns, and became a lead singer in addition to carrying the lead on guitar. The Orfuns played their way into an option agreement with White Whale Records in Los Angeles, and several demos the band submitted to the label in 1965 nearly got them a record contract. They had a handful of original songs written by Jerry. When White Whale declined to pick-up their option and offer them a contract, the band broke up. After the breakup of The Orfuns, Jerry joined with four other popular musicians to form Framework including members of The Centaurs, a mid-60s San Diego band, contemporaries of The Orfuns. Framework recorded several successful singles and one complete album, and they were a stable live performance group in San Diego, opening concerts at the old Sand Diego stadium for such names as The Birds, Frank Zappa, The Moody Blues, Poco, Chicago, Steve Miller, Santana, and The Grateful Dead. In 1971, Jerry moved to San Francisco, where he released an album on Elektra with a group of musicians with whom he had done a couple of gigs in the mid 60s. The album caused some legal wrangles with the record company, who was not quite ready for an album called "Formerly Anthrax." The band's sound was quite different from that of Framework, a jazz-rock sound with classical overtones that wasn't easily danceable. Jerry remembers that the most frequent comment he heard from listeners about the new sound was, "Interesting." In 1972, Jerry left San Francisco and the crew of Formerly Anthrax and took a job in Los Angeles with Elektra. Shortly after that, Jerry returned to the San Diego area with the intention of getting out the biz. After only a few weeks off, however, he was talked into sitting-in with some friends who had a regular gig at the The Albatross. Jerry was added as a regular member of than band, which was called Nova. Shortly after that, Jerry decided that he would rather play under his own name. He has been playing as The Jerry McCann Band ever since and continues to regularly perform live throughout San Diego County.

(AA.VV. 1903)

Search Add 3 Deciduous Flux Deciduous Flux began channeling energies through recordings early 2011 in Denver Colorado. It is the ongoing creative collaboration between Wesleyoung and Jesse Peper. Wesleyoung, a visual artist and also the founder and proprietor of a collective abstract underground sound project known as Behavior. Jesse Peper is primarily a painter, but has also performed and/or recorded with Not Breathing, Waltedtful, Legerdemain and Icedagaz. Deciduous Flux was originally conceived a few years earlier than this as a visual collaboration between both artists which resulted in a series of large paintings. During the Development of these artworks many conversations often led to the discussion on the medium of sound, as both of us have always kept a love for the craft of sound. At this time we have been recording a year and a half resulting in 12 full recording sessions. Much of this material is in production and will be released to the public within the coming months. Our recording process is quite different than the usual conventional approaches on what music is “seen as” or “supposed to be” to the world. On one hand we are obsessed on the opiates of oblivion and we are recording constantly for no outcome other than for our own meditation purposes, for achieving various states and documenting them through the recording process. This, within itself, is an intoxicating pre-procedural agent for what follows! Largely our aim is to capture these otherworldly trans-dimensional expressions or bleed-throughs with the proper elements to perform the divine inductions, invocations and evocations etc, through the methods of our ritual. The tradition we naturally adopt is more akin to that of the shaman than it is to modern modalities of thinking. We recognize the spirit-forms or energies around us to guide us within appropriate directions according to our will and desire. On another hand, at times we see our process fall into a method which we have described as automatic recordings, similar to some degree in the approach of automatic drawings only using sounds rather than images as the medium with which to explore, amass and create our impressions on the hanging space of time. Within the Deciduous Flux is like a painting with sounds. A rich palette of sound to create and stimulate visions both from externally and internally. Each byproduct of the recordings presents an invocation of elements which create metaphysical vortexes to other dimensions with which the listener can also gain access to if the desire to do so exists.

Exploring some of the strange terrain in this world of techno-alienation, HUMANITIES' debut EP focuses on our all too familiar, yet strange relationships with things like social media and communicative labour, and our dependence on various technologies and institutions in sharing our experiences with others in the world. The imagery and themes are related to our collective efforts — and failures — at communication and community. It opens with the driving post-hardcore sound of “Century of the Selfie,” a bitter meditation on the false promises of social media and connectivity, and then moves through the claustrophobia of “Come Outside” formed from varying strands of punk and hardcore. The dystopic visions of work and leisure in “Belly Full of Fear” combine with noisy, dense guitars that shine with a dissonant melody. The EP concludes with the somewhat more optimistic, yet crushing dirge rock of “Your Dreams are My Dreams,” a song that finds a certain communicative and creative possibility in that apparently most solitary, and unproductive, activity: dreaming. Through dreams we find a shared energy that runs deeply into the individual, seeping into it and pushing out beyond it, into others and to the world.

Search Add 3 Raj Ojha Raj Kumar Ojha Raj Kumar Ojha is a Bay Area based drummer and sound engineer who, over the course of his 20+ year career, has had the opportunity to tour the US, UK, and Europe while working with some of his biggest musical heroes and most admired peers. Ojha’s professionalism, work ethic, and well-honed talents make him a favorite amongst a diverse array of musicians and audiences. He has recorded with Rick Rubin (Howlin’ Rain, The Russian Wilds, 2012, American Records), opened for Tool with his group Once & Future Band, and more recently appeared with brothers Chris and Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes’ on the Howard Stern Show. Mr. Ojha has had the honor, along with his bandmates Joel Robinow and Raze Regal (of Once & Future Band), of playing in Shannon Shaw’s (Shannon and The Clams) live band for her solo project “Shannon In Nashville” (produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys) as well as Danny James Etc, supporting his album “PEAR”. As drummer for Once & Future Band he’s shared bills with Shannon and the Clams, Thee Oh Sees, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Ty Segall, King Tuff, !!!, Foxygen, Red Fang, Mild High Club, and White Denim. Ojha and Once & Future Band have been invited to open for Chris Robinson’s “As the Crow Flies”, 60’s psych favorites LOVE, and the Swedish Psych-Rock band Dungen. He has played festivals like All Tomorrow’s Parties, Bottle Rock, and was hand selected by Flying Lotus to play the 2017 Sled Island line-up, by John Dwyer of The Oh-Sees to play the 2017 Liverpool Psychfest as part of Castleface Record’s artist roster, and by post punk legends Wire, for their 40th anniversary Drill Festival. With Once & Future Band, Ojha has been a recurring guest on Marc Riley’s BBC 6 Radio music show and featured on Henry Rollins’ show on KCRW. His long time project Once and Future Band, which he founded with musical partners Joel Robinow and Eli Eckert, had their first LP make both The Guardian UK’s Top 100 Albums and The Wire’s Top 50 Albums lists in 2017. Ojha’s musical projects have been reviewed in Rolling Stone, MOJO, Uncut, Glide Magazine, The Wire, Modern Drummer, and Shindig! Magazine. As a vital part of the Bay Area music scene, he has played with and engineered / mixed albums for Once & Future Band, B. Hamilton, Colossal Yes (solo project of Comets on Fire’s Utrillo Kushner), and Levi Thomas. Ojha uses a minimal four piece kit with two ride cymbals and large hi-hats, and he favors a vintage aesthetic and traditional sized drums. A dedicated musician with an obsessive work ethic, he has been playing the drums since the age of seven, and his bandmates are only half-joking when they say that he hasn’t missed a day in the woodshed since. He minored in Electronic Music at UC Santa Cruz, and says his love of experimental electronic music informs his playing, and is inspired and influenced by legends like: John Bonham, Tony Williams, Mike Clark, Steve Gadd, Jack DeJohnette, Levon Helm, Elvin Jones, Billy Cobham, Ringo Starr, James Gadson, J Dilla, Autechre and Squarepusher. Ojha’s supporters and fans include: Danny Carey of Tool, Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes, Jon Theodore of Queens of the Stone Age, Flying Lotus, Adrian Younge, White Denim, Shannon Shaw, King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard, Dungen, John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees and Castleface Records, AC Newman of The New Pornographers, Mike Portnoy, Henry Rollins, Isaiah Mitchell of Earthless, Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, John Sherman of Red Fang, Scott Reeder of Fu Manchu, Alexander Brettin of Mild High Club, Marc Riley and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music, The Sword, and Wire.

Search Add 3 Matt Xavier Matt Xavier Matt Xavier's relationship with electronic music began in 1993 at Manhattan's most infamous downtown raveclub, NASA. Soon after he began promoting for New York's Caffeine nightclub where he met friend and confidante Michael "Blackwatch" Thomas. Together the two formed "Island Vibe Network" and began organizing art and music events at illegal warehouse locations throughout New York's Tri-state area. In early 1995 Matt Xavier (formerly known as Matthew Magic) began organizing the first European styled goa-trance parties on the east coast of North America and later founded New York City's most elite event company "Tsunami Productions". During his four-year reign as Tsunami resident DJ and music director, Matthew organized over seventy-five large-scale events where he hosted and shared the stage with such global talents as Josh Wink, Juno Reactor, BT, Hallucinogen, X-Dream, Raja Ram, GMS, KoxBox, Son Kite, Tsuyoshi Suzuki, Total Eclipse, Slinky Wizard and Green Nuns of the Revolution, to name a few. Following the turn of the millennium Matthew retired the psy-trance format and adopted the production moniker known as "Gruvhaus". During such time he released a string of edgy tech-house productions on such labels as Polyester Music, Release Records, Annex and Fugu Recordings. In early 2005 he and childhood friend Sean Palm founded the internationally acclaimed record label known as "Railyard Recordings" who have hosted such world-renowned techno/house producers as Joel Mull, Cari Lekebusch, Alexi Delano, Adultnapper, Donato Dozzy, Simon Flower, Android Cartel and Justin Scott Dixon aka Voyager. After moving Railyard Recordings office to Berlin in 2007, he returned to the States to begin his role as music director and resident DJ for Los Angeles's most premiere techno nightclub "Compression". During his three-year reign he hosted and shared the stage with such talents as Francois K, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Steve Bug, Mathew Jonson & Cobblestone Jazz, Dirtybird, Adam Beyer, Radio Slave and many others. To this day Matt Xavier continues his nineteen-year journey into the deeper realms of psychedelic electronica, where more will be revealed…
