These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

One has to remember, appreciate, and properly listen to a sound. To listen is not the same as to hear. Think about it. Thee|22|SekkT has put the 7 seconds "rule" to the test and found that it doesn't work. 22 seconds are needed to truly listen and appreciate a sound. It takes a bit of time to register what your ears are hearing. It needs to be processed properly. With this knowledge, Thee|22|SekkT was born. And it will be of no surprise that all the sounds are exactly 22 seconds long. Thee|22|SekkT's method of working is elegant in its simplicity. A track is recorded and then subtly changed in pitch, tone, what have you, thus creating a tiny symphony of constantly repeating yet slowly evolving sounds. Because of this, headphones are advised, as some parts of the symphonies might become nearly inaudible when listening to them on a regular stereo system. This project has a distinct single goal: to make the listener appreciate 22 second snippets of sounds, any sounds. Be it drone, ambient, noise, trance or whatever. | |

Oakley-Smith performed at several South African venues such as the Troubadour and Chelsea Theatre but shied away from big stages. He released an album in 1976 called Matinees on Saturdays. Oakley-Smith was the musical director for productions of And Green And Golden, Cop-Out, Torch Song Trilogy, Madame Butterfly, Twelfth Night, or What You Will and performed in Ain't We Got Fun. John Oakley-Smith was born in 1950 in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and lived a short time in Angola before coming to Cape Town, South Africa in 1970.[7] At the age of 5, Oakley-Smith had an interest in playing the piano. He was encouraged to play by his mother who was also a pianist.[8] However, at the age of 14, he broke his leg and could not play the piano for two years. At this point, he taught himself to play the guitar and despite his proficiency in the string instrument he still prefers the piano.[ Oakley-Smith went to the University of Cape Town where he began an arts degree.[8] Before he could complete his degree, he was offered a job to write music for a witches' dance in a very obscure ballet production of "Dark of the Moon."[8] By 1970, Oakley-Smith started living in Johannesburg and has since written the music for several plays, TV shows and films. Muff Andersson lists these ventures ""People" ... , "Stephan Bouwer's film "'n Bars Loop Deur die Wasbak" and "Katinka Heyns "'n Rand 'n Droom", "Story Time", "Lysistrata""[9][7] In 1976, he released his début album entitled Matinees on Saturdays, which was according to Leigh Hitchcock "met with wide acclaim even though it failed to get much airplay because the SABC placed a restriction on six of the songs."[8] It is very difficult to categorise John Oakley-Smith's music, but Mike Waddacor attempted by stating that he "executes a hybrid folk style divorced from mainstream contemporary idioms."[10] His lyrics ultimately consisted of a blend of social criticism, sarcasm and humour which was frowned upon by South African authorities.[8] Three years later, Oakley-Smith signed a songwriting contract with Warner Brothers and even performed at an international music convention on the Virgin Islands.[9] The late-1970s and 1980s are marked by sporadic performances. During the 1970s John Oakley-Smith along with Gikas Marks, David Marks, Mac, Leonie Hofmeyr and Mike Dickman also performed in a band called the Elastic Head Band.[11] In the start of the 1980s, John Oakley-Smith performed in the "Roots and Shoots" show and the "Tribute to John Betjemen" in which he co-starred with actor Richard Haines at the Laager.[9][12] In 1983 John Oakley returned to the stage after a two-year absence only to be met with an audience of 40 fans.[10] His performance was met well by the audience with Oakley-Smith performing some of his songs from the Matinees on Saturday Collection as well as some new material.[10] Throughout his career John Oakley-Smith performed at venues such as Mangles Theatre, The Troubadour, The Chelsea Theatre, and Market Theatre Café.[13][14] Waddacor remarked that "Oakley-Smith may play music that could become increasingly inaccessible with changing musical tastes, but he remains, nevertheless, an admirable individualist playing beautiful music."[10] Oakley-Smith went back to Zimbabwe in the 1980s and there retired from public life as a performing musician.[15] Despite his obscurity as a performer in his own right, he continued with numerous works in various fields. In the early and late 1990s John spent time working with renowned theatre director Glen Walford in London, consulting on and composing for numerous productions in London, Ludlow and Vienna. These included Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing (produced under the Royal Shakespeare Company), and a reimagining of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and others. In the easy 2000s John worked as a music and cultural teacher at Hillcrest College in Phenalonga in Zimbabwe. After retiring as a teacher John completed a book titled "If I Should Die Before I Wake" which is awaiting publication. It was an investigative piece examining the massacre of some young men in Sea Point, Cape Town in the same decade. He further went on to assist various authors with proofing and editing work including Andrew Brel and his book "The Emergency Bizouki Player". His last two draft works focused on at corruption in and around his hometown of Mutare Zimbabwe ("Diamond City Blues") as well as a biographical looking at a prominent Rhodesian family he was commissioned to assist with as a non credited author. He was married to Theresa Oakley-Smith and had one son John Lucien Oakley-Smith.[16] Oakley-Smith was found murdered at his home in Mutare, Zimbabwe after a home invasion in 2021.[17][18] He served as a mentor to many young pianists and musicians in Mutare until the time of his death. Oakley-Smith donated his archival material including photographs, vinyl records, letters and documents, to the Hidden Years Music Archive, preserved at the Documentation Centre for Music, Stellenbosch University in 2017. | |

The name Transparent Curse was derived from a fragment of a book by Guy Bogaert (‘Wat kwaad doen de Tovenaars?’ -> a story about an insane asylum). For the group, their musical past is only a “youthful indiscretion” with fun memories and educational experiences. This “youthful indiscretion” produced six demos; ‘Black Pussy’s’ - 1993, ‘At the Murder Party’ - 1995, (ref: Stage music magazine nº 6). ‘Duplicate of Alien reflections’ - 1996, ‘Sample One’ - 1996, ‘And then, there was Panic…’ - 1996 -> 100 copies sold (ref. ‘Dark Entries’ n° 15; “Heimwee allom, een prille The Cure of een sublieme Joy Division is nergens veraf...”), ‘Eine Symphonie des Grauens’ - 1996, a live video and several performances in and around Antwerp. In 1997 the tide turns and Transparent Curse becomes a five-man formation with a fixed lineup; [a1612925] - vocals, [a1612929] - bass, [a1612928] - guitar + vocals, [a1612924] - keys + guitar, [a1612926] - drums + electronic percussion. The sound with which they manage to profile themselves aligns with the Cold Wave and New Wave experiments of the '80s. Names such as [a3898], [a100654], [a71984], [a28972], [a127613] and [a3909] have therefore served as the main sources of inspiration. Gradually they manage to give it their own character and style. In addition to this, the group also gratefully uses English, German, Dutch and French lyrics. Performances follow (and continue to follow thanks to growing interest), several live videos are recorded and in August '98 the group goes into the studio for a CD recording: ‘[r1986295]’! Transparent Curse briefly described: a group that is firmly rooted in the '80s Wave with one leg and is looking for its own identity with the other. For you English-speaking people, Carl Sagan might be the closest equivalent. Kevyt Linja (Life LightTM), also by Tommi UJO, gives the finger to the "LightTM" trend in everything imaginable nowadays. Juuso Kilpeläinen makes an Extra LightTM appearance at the percussions. Thoughts LightTM, anyone? Unelma (Dream), sung by Anna, is a beautiful waltz by the famous American-Finnish songwriter and performer William Syrjälä, who originally recorded it with Viola Turpeinen in the late 1930's. To tip our hats to the American-Finnish community, we put a lot of country influence into this, and then something completely different. Thanks to Heikki Uimonen for the dobro solo! As beautiful as this romantic dream is, the old-fashioned lyrics make it hard to keep a straight face at times. Raimo, Minä & Universumi (Raimo, Me & The Universe) returns to the theme of two old friends sitting around in the dead of night in deep thought. Mika dedicates this one to Rane, the Crazy Poet. Cabello grew up surrounded by music and photos of Maxx as a toddler, sleeping in his father’s guitar case, show he was destined to be a musician. “Dad plays folk-Spanish music,” Cabello said. “When him and my mom sing, it will make you cry. It’s that kind of deep, real traditional Spanish music.” But Cabello’s corazón led him to the blues. “What I love about the blues,” he said, “there’s no right or wrong way to do it. It’s in the delivery. If the people can feel it, then you are doing it right. I play from my heart.” His shades of music are reminiscent of the most renowned guitarists of our time. In his work are the inspirations of Jimi Hendrix and Carlos Santana, and Maxx definitely adds his own artistry. His hard-driving playing is accomplished as well as energetic. Gatos del Mundo’s vibrant approach has already made some impact on the local scene. August 2013 saw the release of their Transmitter EP. Right now they are planning their first LP release. |

Pead designed sound and music for short films, including "No Exorcism" by Komtouch Dew Napattaloong, which premiered at CPH:DOX, Copenhagen, in 2024.
