Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

The line-up were first known as "The Plazents", named after Mary Regan's well known Plaza Ballroom in Old Hill where the band became the resident act. "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups" The Plazents were formed in Erdington by drummer Dave Mountney (from the Beachcombers), guitarists Graham Gallery and Roger Hill (both previously with a group called "Bobby and The Dominators") while saxophonist Paul Carter came from Northfield. By 1963, The Plazents had enlisted Buddy Ash from Smethwick, formerly of The Eko's and the Diplomats, as their lead vocalist. While at the Plaza, the group were able to back some well known visiting American artists such as Tommy Roe, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chris Montez, The Ronettes, and many more. The positive response to The Plazents from the Plaza regulars was such that they were signed to a recording contract by Decca Records in July 1963 although it would not be until September before they could go into the studio due to bass guitarist Graham Gallery having a bout with pneumonia. Decca also told the group to get another drummer so Dave Mountney was replaced by Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood. In order to capitalize on the so-called "Mersey Beat" mania that was sweeping the country at that time, the term "Brum Beat" was being used by some promoters as a means of advertising West Midlands groups who had recently been signed-up. In light of this, Decca Records decided that The Plazents name should be changed to "The Brumbeats" prior to the release of their first single. (Note: there was also another 1960's group in Birmingham called "The Brum Beats" whose vocalist Norman Haines would later join the group Locomotive). Decca Records chose a great song for the A-side of The Brumbeats first record release that had been composed by the group themselves. The track was called 'I Don't Understand' with the recording done very much in the style of the popular "Mersey Sound" while also considered as potential material for well known singer Billy Fury. The song was actually composed by the Brumbeats singer Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) who wrote the lyrics with the music composed by Graham Gallery and Roger Hill. This record was produced by Mike Leander who had recently made hit records with another Brum band The Applejacks. He would later work with The Fortunes and The Montanas before going on to have much success with Gary Glitter in the 1970s. The single's B-side was another up-beat recording titled 'Cry Little Girl, Cry'. Despite radio and TV appearances on shows like "Thank Your Lucky Stars" the Brumbeats 45 did not manage to become a national hit although it was popular throughout the West Midlands and sold-out in many Birmingham record shops. "The Merseyboys" The band's profile also increased when a local newspaper at the time published a story with the headline; "It could be a really fab Feb. for the Brum Beats". The paper went on to say; "They are all good musicians - quite a rarity among modern beat groups - and Decca are considering using them as session men." As well as providing support for visiting acts, The Brumbeats had performed on the same bill as The Beatles whenever they played in the Birmingham area. The Brumbeats similarity in their sound to The Beatles was not lost on Decca as they were soon involved in a recording project resulting in the release of a now-rare 15-track album of Beatles songs as performed by "The Merseyboys" who were really The Brumbeats under a different name. While most Beatles fans would not be fooled by these recordings, the LP stands as a tribute to The Brumbeats as talented musicians and in particular guitarist Roger Hill who brilliantly duplicates both George and John's parts simultaneously as he probably usually did on stage! This album was also issued in the U.S.A. on the famous Vee-Jay Records label - one of the first American labels to promote records by The Beatles. Despite making other recordings for Decca, the Brumbeats unfortunately disbanded in early 1965 when Graham Ashford left to go solo before further records could be released. The group later re-formed for a short time with new members Robbie Harper and Alan Buxton replacing Roger Hill and Bugsy Eastwood. Graham Gallery briefly joined the Rockin' Berries and later became a member of "The Midland Light Orchestra". He also worked with the famous Move and Wizzard performer Roy Wood during the 1970s. Graham died in the 1980s at only 35 years of age. Roger Hill went on to other Birmingham bands including The Uglys and later re-uniting with former Brumbeats drummer Alan Eastwood when they formed the pop/rock group The Exception. Roger enjoyed a successful career as a jazz guitarist until he passed away in 2011 (see Roger Hill). Sadly, Alan "Bugsy" Eastwood also passed away in 2007. Buddy Ash (Graham Ashford) went on to form his own new group in 1965 that was named "The Bobby Ash Sound". Graham later moved to Hawaii and now lives in California where he still continues to perform and write songs. Saxophonist Paul Carter was recently discovered in South Africa where he still lives today.

Search Add 4 Criminal System Based in Brazil and strongly influenced by digging art and club culture, the duo Criminal System arises from the idea of transforming three years of musical creation into something else. From housemates to partners in crime and music, the duo formed by Breno Cardoso and Roger Sisto follows the march of their own drum searching for new sounds incessantly, while immersed in a universe of raw experimentation and creation. After a period of incubation, the artists brought to light a series of compositions uniting their identities and influences reflecting a totally new aesthetic, from their productions to their energetic selections in the club. The criminal sound stands out for the natural combination of raw funk with influences from avant-garde house, techno and electro, bringing precision, sobriety and elegance in a hypnotic way for the mind paving dynamism for the body and soul. Emerging from Sci Phunk Records, the vision gained shape and purpose delivering to the audience, streets and dancefloors the Criminal System.

Search Add 4 Nebes Nebojsa Simic It was the first visit to the legendary Belgrade underground club Industria that did it for Nebes. Clearly hypnotised by the power of the music, the sub bass and the people he partied with, he left the club that night with only one intention on his mind – to become the part of the dance music world. At only 14 Nebes was already vinyl hunting and promoting the latest electronic music with the group of his closest mates. He also had a regular Sunday slot, on the local FM radio. As the popularity of the show grew, his keen sense for fresh music and dj-ing talent have led him straight out of the radio studio and onto the local clubs dancefloors. He recalls those first parties as full of positive energy, enthusiasm and true love for music. Consequently in the 1999 Nebes started an organisation ‘Reactor’ with his best mate Spok (no he didn’t have pointy ears…), and from than on the local scene has truly started to flourish and the major party line ups have been graced by the biggest names of Serbian club scene at the time, such as Marko Nastic, Dejan Milicevic, Milosh Pavlovic to name a few. As Reactor ‘lived long and prospered’ the parties kept growing and in 2001 Nebes kicks off the famous ‘Good Mood Explosion’ party series in the ancient Smederevo fortress bringing over the top crop of Serbian and Europian DJ’s. As a techno DJ at that time, Nebes has had a chance to play alongside the likes of Billy Nasty, Brenda Russell, Hardcell, Johan Bacto, Asem Shama, Vlad Sokolov. His love of musical hardware and technology has inevitably led him to start using such equipment in his sets and very quickly in his production too. His production has always had the characteristics of a minimal approach. ‘Less is more’ has always had ‘more inspiration for him’ as Nebes states himself. After couple of years of a studio lock up, his hard work has been recognised and fully supported by a German minimal techno label Limikola and it’s boss Heron. Limikola has already enjoyed a full support by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Cari Lekebusch, Damon Wild, Troy Pierce, Paco Osuna.. January 2009 sees the release of Nebeses debut Fliction EP which immediately ended up in top 100 downloads on Beatport. His sound has now matured and has been described as a characteristic style of modulated bass lines combined with precise drum section, synthesized percussions and freaky high notes. His arrangements are rich in contrasts but also just as much in singularity and harmony of the flow. Above all, Nebes has a very good sense of humour – always a good sign in a talented producer. His latest Ensampled EP has been championed by the top DJ’s around the world for some time now. Nebes says – it’s a peak time vinyl with an old school vocals and a dark and emotive journey. True.
