Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | El Gordo's Revenge | El Gordo's Revenge was a suburban St. Louis band formed by two 15 year-olds when they realized playing Ramones songs was a lot easier than trying to play Iron Maiden songs. An early proto-EGR featured four students from Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri. This lineup formed when acne-ridden Kevin Schneider and corpulent Matt Picker noticed Black Flag stickers on a nearby locker. They soon recruited the inhabitants of said locker despite the fact that neither Mike Virag, who looked 30 when he was 16, nor Adrian Martinez, a Mexican Jew, had ever played drums or bass. After winning their high school's battle of the bands (but getting disqualified for cursing and breaking a microphone) and playing something called "the Psycho Pera", Adrian and Mike moved to Seattle. (at some point the band briefly played with drummer Aristotle Kumpis or Tallis for short. His name was immediately bastardized to Aris Twat-hole or Phallus for short. He left to play in a Nirvana cover band) Kevin and Matt soon found replacements in bassist Nate Pionke, who was fat, and drummer Collin Smith, who was as black. This lineup saw the band play its first "real" shows and a select few consider it superior to later versions largely due to the zany antics of Collin Smith, who enjoyed telling racially-charged jokes that belied his African-American heritage. Collin also had a penchant for leaving his drum kit at the end of the show and strutting around in nothing but rhinestone boots, a sequined black cape and a blonde wig. Eventually Mike Virag moved back from Seattle after his girlfriend cheated on him with Larry from The Degenerats (who, ironically, EGR later played with in Kansas City) and began playing in the band once again - this time on guitar, which he's better at than bass. For some reason Nate and Collin quit or were kicked out or something. Matt Picker switched from guitar to drums and young Matt Wicks, another Parkway Central student and pals with Matt's little brother, joined on bass. This is the most well-known lineup of the group and showcases their growing musical talent as well as their increasingly esoteric and arbitrary songwriting style. The band's unique blend of classic punk and hardcore, hard rock, early rock 'n' roll, heavy metal and utter nonsense made them one of the top St. Louis bands of the mid-to-late 90s. During their three year reign of terror, they put out 3 cassette only albums, a 10" LP and a few compilation tracks. The band also played with some of the top national acts of the day, including the Promise Ring, Subhumans, the Donnas, Groovie Ghoulies, Mr. T. Experience, the Loudmouths, Very Metal, Acid Flesh, Zvook, and even played Cottleville hardcore fest '97 and Warped Tour '98 - where they were offered a record deal on Lookout! EGR broke up in 1998 in part because their bass player began listening to far too much hip-hop, but mostly because the band as a whole was sick of playing crappy songs about tacos and Bronson Pinchot at breakneck speed.

Search | Add | 3 | Ryan DeMers | Southeast Michigan 19-year-old live and studio guitarist/singer-songwriter splitting his time between Nashville and Metro Detroit. Ryan DeMers grew up in Southeast Michigan with an itch for music. Obsessed with playing all types of guitars, Ryan spent much of his teen years apprenticing with musicians from such locally renowned bands as The Infatuations, Jiva, and the Wells. The focus of heavy fuzz tones and endless sustain also led him to the 80’s rock world, where he listened to and learned from bands such as Van Halen, The Outfield, Guns N Roses, and Pink Floyd. When his sound grew too big for his basement, Ryan took his show on the road, performing as a solo artist; as lead vocalist and guitarist for local band The Monsoons (which, coincidentally, also practiced in his basement); and as a touring guitarist with another artist. He played everything from local hot spots, to house shows and private events, to music festivals such as Electric Forest and LaureLive. During this time, Ryan began to form the guitar playing and vocal styling you hear from him today. He also discovered the arts of songwriting and producing - and a more commercialized sound - with influences from people such as Tyler Bryant and the Shakedowns, Shawn Mendes, Theo Katzman, and John Mayer. Ryan’s music fascination led him from Detroit to Nashville, where he is currently a sophomore music business major/guitar minor at Belmont University. Constantly searching for new musical influences, he has recently discovered the likes of Kacey Musgraves, Ben Rector, the Eagles, and Lori McKenna. You could say he is shaping into a musician truly not defined by a specific genre. When not studying, Ryan plays shows around town, and continues to write the sounds and words he hears in his head constantly.

Search | Add | 3 | Trespassenger | Trespassenger introduces a fresh-sounding dynamic metal music, which is a combination of metal genre cross-section and various elements from other genres. This creates a unique style of music, which Trespassenger is known for. Trespassenger started as a hobby of five childhood friends, which has evolved to a musical act that shakes underground metal scene all over Finland. For over a decade these same guys have managed to keep their friendship warm and stable, which makes the band year after year stronger than ever. As youngsters, Trespassenger managed to win some large field band competitions in Finland such as Nuori Kulttuuri –music contest and survived to finals of honoured Ääni ja Vimma –music contest year 2007. Guys found it out pretty soon that they have potential which should not be wasted. Hard work made profit. So far, Trespassenger has been supporting several Finnish frontline metal acts on their gigs, such as Mokoma, Diablo and Insomnium to mention but a few. Trespassenger has made several dozen of gigs, including some big venues such as Nummirock 2010, which has made Trespassenger also a strong live act. During the past decade, Trespassenger has also been active in studio publishing several promo records publishing them in various formats for people to hear. And yet more is coming…stay tuned!

Search | Add | 3 | Nina Milkina | Classical pianist, born January 27, 1919 in Moscow; died November 29, 2006. Nina Milkina Russian émigré pianist at the forefront of the Mozart 'gold rush' Nina Milkina, who has died aged 87, was a pianist of exceptional sensitivity and great musical empathy. Trained initially in the distinguished Russian tradition, she went on to become a much-loved figure in British musical life, particularly for her broadcast recitals. Born in Moscow, Milkina shared her birthday with Mozart. Her father was an accomplished artist who drew characterful portraits of celebrated Russian musicians including Prokofiev and Mussorgsky. Her mother was a harpist, and Milkina later recounted that in the years after the 1917 revolution, she was usually paid for her performances with a pound of flour or some salted herrings. The family left Russia in 1926 and moved to Paris, where there was a large émigré community. "Even the taxi drivers were Russian princes then," Milkina remembered. There were fine musicians, too, and the talented young girl took piano lessons with the well-known Russian teacher Leon Conus and studied composition with the elderly Alexander Glazunov. The latter dubbed himself her "grandfather" and set her studies and contrapuntal puzzles to resolve, as well as encouraging her to play "games" such as transposing Bach fugues. At the age of 10, she played to the visiting Rachmaninov, daring to perform one of his own preludes; she treasured the letter of recommendation he subsequently wrote for her. Aged 11, she made her first public appearance in Paris with the Lamoureux Orchestra. Part of Milkina's family had settled in London, and Nina began to shuttle between the two cities. During one visit to England, she met Ralph Hawkes of the music publishing firm Boosey & Hawkes, who took an interest in her compositions and published several of her works under the anglicised name Nina Milkin. Her piano suite My Toys showed a lively musical imagination, but was described by critics as too difficult for children - although the composer was all of 11 years old: "If I remember correctly I was paid five guineas for each masterpiece and was then given a few sixpences to spend as I liked in Woolworth's." During the 1930s, London became her permanent home. There she studied with Tobias Matthay and Harold Craxton, the two leading British piano professors of their day; fellow pupils included Myra Hess, for whom Milkina later composed cadenzas for several piano concertos. Resident in Belsize Park, she lived upstairs from another pianist, Clifford Curzon, who was to remain a great friend and colleague: "Upstairs, me; downstairs, Clifford. It should have been the other way round." Milkina's career was disrupted by the outbreak of the second world war, which put paid to a planned concert tour in the US. She remained in the UK and performed frequently to entertain the troops. Visiting Bournemouth for one such appearance, she met her future husband, Alastair Sedgwick, who was then in the army; the pair were married in 1943. She broadcast frequently, sometimes in the middle of the night for the BBC World Service, and performed at Hess's series of lunchtime concerts in the National Gallery, and at the Proms with Sir Henry Wood: here she was the soloist at the last wartime Prom in the Royal Albert Hall, after a bomb fell nearby. When the BBC Third Programme started in 1946, Milkina was invited to play the complete Mozart piano sonatas in a weekly series. Mozart was her abiding musical passion, along with Schumann and Rachmaninov. On the bicentenary of Mozart's birth in 1956, she was invited to give the celebratory recital at the Edinburgh Festival, half of which she performed on the fortepiano. During what she described as the Mozart "gold rush" in the 1960s, when many of his more neglected piano concertos were triumphantly rehabilitated, she was at the forefront of Mozart performances in London. Raising her son and daughter, Milkina was less free to travel than some colleagues, but maintained a high profile in Britain for most of her performing career. A battle with cancer ended it in 1991; although the disease had spread widely, she made a miraculous recovery. In 2001 her husband organised the reissue of several of her recordings, including the Chopin Mazurkas and a fine recital recorded live at the Wigmore Hall in 1972. A favourite figure among London's community of younger pianists of all nationalities, for not only her exceptional musical background but also her personal sympathy, intelligence and wry humour, Milkina always continued to enjoy "all the good things of life"; among these she numbered chess and fishing. (the Guardian's Corrections and clarifications column, Thursday December 7 2006)

Search | Add | 3 | Herschel Foshee | Herschel Edison Foshee | Born 1911 - Died 1949 Herschel Foshee, from Mississippi, was an employee of the Stamps-Baxter Music and Printing Company working in the printing plant and singing bass in several of the company’s quartets during the late 1930s including the Original Stamps Quartet (V.O. Stamps Quartet) of Dallas. In 1940, V.O. Stamps, president of Stamps-Baxter, sent Foshee to manage and sing bass in the Stamps-Baxter Melody Boys (aka Stamps Melody Boys) in Arkansas. Well known pianist , songwriter, and arranger Joe Roper was also in the group. Foshee left the Melody Boys to serve in the US Army during WW2 where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. After the war, he became the manager and bass singer of a group called Herschel Foshee and his Stamps-Baxter Quartet. Joe Roper joined him in the new group. They began in Mississippi in 1946, but they soon moved to Illinois before moving back to Arkansas in 1948. There Foshee organized an additional group called the Herschel Foshee Junior Quartet. On November 16, 1949, Herschel Foshee died from heart disease at the age of 38. The remaining Herschel Foshee Stamps-Baxter Quartet members continued on with Smilin’ Joe Roper in charge and soon reclaimed the pre-war name, the Melody Boys. Gerald Williams, who had been the bass for the Foshee Junior Quartet became the bass singer for the Melody Boys and would go on to much success as the manager of the Melody Boys, continuing Foshee’s legacy for many years. |

His music is a thankful surprise with its sky-rending hybridization of eastern european guitar spree & 70s snowdazed modal folkrock. Resonant drums burst through the giant aluminum churn of guitar, voice, and percussion arcing overhead. Dancing between poles of hot motion & cool mass, Sergey’s impressively energetic numbers establish themselves long enough to each become deeply meaningful, essential scenes in his pan shamanic expression.

Search | Add | 3 | The Gyrators | The Gyrators are a collective of musicians paying homage to the early Jamaican ska, reggae and roots scene. Their work is a loving tribute to the extraordinary musicianship of these early pioneers. The project was concieved by drummer and producer Joe Colfar; recruiting bassist Dan Walker, guitarist Stuart Andrews, and trumpeter Mike Murphy to record a version of Val Bennett's 'The Russians are Coming!' Endeavouring to stay true to the enchanting spirit and sound of the original, the four of them paid great attention to recapturing the roots of the record before adding their own splash of seasoning to it. With one track completed The Gyrators were born. Over the course of 2019 they chose more songs to recapture; from Lynn Taitt's stomping ska attack of "Storm Warning" to The Soul Vendors' hazy daydream of "Musical Science"; and recruited even more fantastic musicians to contribute to the authenticity of each track: Keys were provided by both Nic Dacre and Jamie Bullok, saxophone by Vanessa Humpreys, trombone by Ruben Durazo and addition trumpet by Glenn Holdaway. The result of this labour of love can be heard on The Gyrators' album 'Sounds From Another Dimension' out April 2020.
