Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 3 | KCHÖRTOO | KCHÖRTOO is an alternative rock project inspired by the Ural lore. It was started in 2010 as a solo project by Stepan Samokhin (a.k.a. Stephan Friedman), who was born in the Urals and is currently residing in the Levant. From the Russian, K Chortoo (“к чёрту”) translates literally as “To the devil!”, which can be used either as “Go to hell!”, or as a response to the “break a leg” wish, depending on the context. The field recordings and samples, which permeate KCHÖRTOO’s songs and musical sketches create an atmosphere of ethereal mystery and magical folktales. KCHÖRTOO’s first full-length album SARANCHA was released on May Eve 2018.

Search | Add | 3 | The International Blues Duo | The International Blues Duo was founded in 1982 on Chicago’s North Side when Gary Wiggins moved to Chicago from Detroit and Christian Rannenberg just arrived in Chicago from Germany. After a jam session at the Kingston Mines Club the two realized that together they had an interesting energy and sound. They decided to create The International Blues Duo and immediately started working the north side blues clubs such as B.L.U.E.S., Kingston Mines, Lillies, as well as performing with Lefty Dizz, Sunnyland Slim, Johnny Littlejohn, Sam Myers and many others on the Chicago blues scene. After one year of living and playing in Chicago, Gary and Chris joined the Lefty Dizz Band for a 21 day tour of the Scandinavian countries. Once they were on the European continent, they agreed to relocate to Germany, where they became an immediate sensation. From 1983 to 1990 they toured and played blues festivals, blues clubs, did radio and television shows. They recorded three LPs and invited many musicians to tour Europe with them such as Johnny Heartsman, Johnny Copeland, King George, Charlie Musselwhite, Angela Brown, Jeanny Carroll and Big Jay McNeely.

Search | Add | 3 | Mulga Bill's Bicycle Band | Mulga Bill’s Bicycle Band was perhaps the earliest, large, full time, Australian ‘folk revival’ band ("Mulga Bill's Bicycle" is a poem written in 1896 by Banjo Paterson in 1896). It began in 1970 as an offshoot of The University of Melbourne Folk Club and played first as a nine-person group in Swan Hill, Victoria in August 1970. Most members of the initial band were at that time students at the university. Over the full course of the band’s operation between 1970 and 1978, a total 20 members were at some stage part of the band. Only three original members: Tony Britz, Liz Eager and Barry Golding were there at the start and also at the end.

Search | Add | 3 | Dorle J. Soria | Dorle Jarmel Soria | Dorle Soria (14 Dec 1900—7 July 2002) was an American classical music impresario, publicist, and journalist from New York. She served as [a388185]'s publicity director for 24 years and co-founded several renowned labels with her husband, Dario Pellegrino Soria (1912–1980), including [l7505] and RCA Victor's [l380603]. After graduating from [l203349], Dorle Jarmel worked as a journalist for several years before joining a prolific talent manager and [l=CBS] founder, Arthur Leon Judson (1881–1975). She became N.Y. Philharmonic's press manager in June 1929—months before it embarked on the historical European tour under the new maestro, [a=Arturo Toscanini]. (Essentially, Dorle was responsible for Toscanini's rapid growth to international superstardom). She worked for Judson's Columbia Artists Management until April 1953 and promoted many notable N.Y. Phil events, such as [a=Leonard Bernstein]'s debut 1943 appearance or the '51 European tour. In 1942, Dorle Jarmel married Dario Soria, an Italian entrepreneur who recently immigrated to the United States. An avid opera aficionado, Dario founded [l568902] label in 1948—perhaps, the first American record company to release full-length operas on LP. According to William F. Weaver, one of the most authoritative Italian operatic translators, Dorle personally insisted on including complete librettos both in Italian and English with each Cetra-Soria album. (This layout subsequently became standard for all US opera labels.) In 1953, Dorle and Dario, who just sold Cetra-Soria to [l=Capitol Records], co-founded [l=Angel Records] in New York. [l=EMI] recently lost the North American distribution deal with [l=Columbia Records], so the major label hired Sorias to direct a brand-new USA classical outlet. For branding, Dorle and Dario settled on the once-legendary 'Recording Angel' label (initially used by Gramophone Company in the early XX-century). They produced almost 500 albums in less than five years, with critics praising Angel's essential repertoire and unprecedented quality. The label, indeed, set new standards for the industry: flawless imported UK pressings, comprehensive liner notes, eloquent libretto translations, booklets with splendid full-color reproductions (printed in Europe), etc. Dorle organized several high-profile events to promote the label's roaster, such as [a=Maria Callas] opera balls with [l372665] and [a4618521]. In 1958, after EMI merged Angel with [l=Capitol Records] and switched to domestic pressings, Sorias left. They assisted Italian composer [a2500093] in organizing the inaugural Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and soon returned to the United States. That same year, Dorle and Dario launched a new [l380603] for [l=RCA Victor]—essentially, an "ultra-deluxe" imprint within an already premium Red Seal catalog. Dorle received two Grammy Awards nominations in 1963 for best classical albums cover for [a=Julian Bream]'s [m=628027] and [a=Herbert Von Karajan]'s [m=269449] 2xLP in this series. In the seventies, Dorle Soria predominantly focused on her journalistic career, regularly contributing to [a5291706], [a3007900], and [a4192162]. In March 1980, her husband Dario—who retired as the [l201156]'s managing director in '77 but still occasionally consulted MET Opera on historical recordings—succumbed to a heart attack working at the Lincoln Center's Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives. To commemorate Dario's lifelong passion for opera, Dorle J. Soria revived the 'Soria Series' and produced Metropolitan Opera Historic Broadcasts collection. (One of the releases, [r=15367770] 3xLP, received the "Historic Record of the Year" award from the Opus Magazine in Oct 1986.) She also authored 'The Metropolitan Opera Guide' historical monograph in 1982. |

Search | Add | 3 | Silence Betrayed | Silence Betrayed was a dynamic independent rock band from southern California. Known for their heavy riffs and explosive stage presence, the foursome intermittently toured the southwestern US from 2007-2012 booking gigs with groups like Nonpoint, Soil, Kitty, 36 Crazyfists, and Straight Line Stitch. After nearly six years of writing, recording, and touring, Silence Betrayed had reached maturity. With noticeable influences ranging from Alice in Chains to Drowning Pool, their sound had been described as brutal, melodic, and memorable - all qualities that the band proudly endorsed. The music, look, and live show emitting from this band rivaled that of the era's most popular hard rock acts. Their songs were memorable, stage presence superior, and performances unforgettable.

Search | Add | 3 | Airhead DC | Vishal Narang | Vishal Narang has pursued music through his entire young adulthood, but his first proper band came about after moving to New York to study art history at NYU. Through a mutual friend, Narang met Greta Kline (of Frankie Cosmos) and the two quickly decided to start playing music together after noticing their similar sense of humor and mutual enthusiasm about each other’s songwriting. After deciding on the name Milk Ghost, Narang and Kline began practicing regularly, creating Beat Happening inspired arrangements to Narang’s anecdotal songs about friends. Building on that experience, Narang started Nirvanus, a solo electronic project inspired by the many noise and house records he found through the Greenwich Village record store, Other Music, like Black Dice and Smallville Records releases. Through Nirvanus, Narang introduced himself to new equipment and recording techniques, incorporating samples, live instruments, and heavy use of effects together for the first time. After graduating college Narang decided to move across the country to Los Angeles, where Nirvanus eventually caught the attention of the budding indie label, Danger Collective Records, before returning to the East Coast and reinventing himself once again as Airhead DC. |

Search | Add | 3 | Quarter Mile Combo | The first full-length cd of Californian rock’n’roll band ¼ Mile Combo was released last year. The guys started the band in 2004, but the lineup (as it is now) became complete two years later, when Nettie Hammar, the lead singer, joined the band. So three years of proper work and here they are: 12 self-penned tracks, played, arranged and recorded in very good quality. Responsible for writing songs are drummer Gary Daly and bass player Todd Jenkins. The lyrics maybe a little bit too serious for “silly” rockabilly. Musically everything is in a good balance. Not too loud, not too noisy, though nothing extraordinary either. Good backing vocals, brilliant addition to strong main female vocal. I wish that Quarter Mile Combo had at least one duet song! The style… Well, American, I guess. Blend of rock’n’roll (most of it), country (slightly) and solid rockin’ sound (psychobilly influence?). In one word - that's what lots of Americans calls “rockabilly” nowadays. “Motels, Gas and Beer”. I like when bands not just pick up the name of the song, but make their own “interpritation” of their creation… it gives extra excitement to find out “why exactly this name?”. In this case I think the band united in it not only list of the songs, but also added their name to it. Travelling, energy, drinking – in other words, rock’n’roll on the road. And, in fact, it does really sound like that! In addition (or better say, conclusion) I want to say that while I was listening to this cd, I had all the time funny feeling. Sometimes I thought “oh, it sounds good, but so boring”. And sometimes, it came like that “wow! Amazing job, I wish we could have more cd’s like that!”. So it would be very interesting to hear your opinion too! Submitted by: kitti. Publication date - 13 January 2010 Copyrights: Rockabilly Bash

Search | Add | 3 | Persian Gulf | 80's agitprop rock band from Philadelphia. The three-piece group was aggressive, political, smart and danceable. In the early '80s, you could stumble into a basement party in your finer Tallahassee student ghetto and find Persian Gulf set up in the corner by the bar. Persian Gulf packed up and headed off to Philadelphia just in time to watch the police burn down a city block in an attempt to eradicate a radical group called MOVE. Persian Gulf kept moving and eventually ended up in New York City. Persian Gulf always got raves from critics. The Village Voice and Robert Christgau spilled much ink in its praises of the band's albums ("Persian Gulf: The Movie" and "Changing the Weather") "Conscious rather than correct, without a hint of hard-cores parracidal/mysogynistic hysteria, this eight-song EP [Changing the Weather] is constricted and expansive, sour and ebullient all at once. Hal Shows understands his own anarchic/apocalyptic impulses, and his Lennonesque rhythm guitar provides the extra momentum he needs to stay on top of things." --Robert Christgau, Village Voice, 1984.
