Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 5 Büchner-Kapelle German music band founded and directed by [a10529086]. [b]For the orchestra, please use: [a3604659][/b] All information is from the following site (maybe someone can revise my translation errors): https://grammophon-platten.de/page.php?422 "Max Büchner was a trained music teacher and one of the pioneers of gramophone and cylinder recordings. He was one of the most frequently recorded orchestras in the imperial era. He was one of the first to understand how to arrange recordings so that the final product sounded good. Büchner was probably born in Berlin in 1862. His father ran a cloakroom and costume rental shop in town in the 1880s. The son Max Büchner was first listed in the Berlin address book in 1887 - profession: music teacher. It can be assumed that in addition to this activity, he has already directed an orchestra. Unfortunately, the old newspapers from the 19th century rarely mention the name (s) of the Kapellmeister at events. Little is known about Max Büchner's actual professional career. 1901, Büchner then traded as Kapellmeister. Resident at Fürbringerstr. 28. In the meantime, Büchner has bought the parental home. Presumably the mother continues to hire masks and cloakrooms. According to the obituary, Max Büchner made his first (cylinder) recordings in 1898. This was followed by many recordings for the Edison company in Berlin. The musician (including straw violin and glockenspiel) and conductor operated here as the Edison Symphony Orchestra or the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. Some of the recordings on roller were also released in the USA. The first record companies quickly became aware of this "funnel - suitable" orchestra. Many recordings were probably made without naming their names. The "Büchner Orchestra" could also be hiding behind the collective term "orchestra" on recordings from the turn of the century. With increasing popularity, the name Büchner-Orchester, Berlin appears more and more on the labels. The recordings that were made under the direction of Max Büchner must be in the hundreds - possibly even more. The obituary suggests - Max Büchner spent a lot of time in the recording rooms for a wide variety of companies. The well-rehearsed repertoire covered almost the whole range of required music. From light classical music to marches and folk pieces, to antics and cakewalk, there was hardly a musical genre that the Büchner orchestra did not take up. For the busy musician and quasi-king of the Berlin record studios, this secured a good livelihood with a high probability. Perhaps, however, he "took over" himself with all the jobs from the speaking machine industry; Max Büchner died in 1906 at the age of just 44 from complications from a cold."

Search Add 5 Sebastian A. Dusza Sebastian Arkadiusz Dusza Sebastian Arkadiusz Dusza was born in 1978. Already as a child he became interested in music. His first simple compositions started to appear in 1984. During his whole childhood, Sebastian had contact with various music genres, from classical music to rock and metal. Already in his elementary school, he got his first toy synthesizer which he used to learn how to play, strumming what he heard. Then music paled into insignificance for a while due to exploring other passions and of course school chores, yet fascination with electronic music remained. In 1995, Sebastian’s parents got him his first PC with a soundcard which resulted in first attempts of composing music using Scream Tracker, and next Fast Tracker software. In 1996, he gave life to music project under the name Citadel of Mo. When asked about what inspired him to do so, the author stated that “the idea to create a music project came to being from the hidden urge to create music which slumbered somewhere within.” The project’s output includes several dozen of works starting from club techno, and ending on mellow moods of electronic music. Sebastian Dusza remains the leader and main producer of Citadel of Mo, while the project itself is open to cooperation with other artists. In 2005, Sebastian discovered VSTi virtual instruments and the FL Studio software. At that time, he decided to recapitulate on his most interesting works up to date in the form of his first mini-album, “Data From the Sky“. In 2006, Sebastian bought a MIDI keyboard. He started to build his home studio. In December the very same year, a new album, entitled “Next Chapter” appeared. This was his first album which came to being already in a uniform editing environment. In 2007, works of Citadel of Mo appeared in the autopilot of El-Stacja (El-Station), a non-commercial internet radio broadcasting Polish electronic music. That year, a musical motive for the movie “Agent 700: Kryptonim N.” (”Agent 700: Codename N.“) was created and distributed as an mp3 maxi-single through a website. A broadcast in El-Stacja dedicated in total to Citadel of Mo appeared a year later. 2008 became a virtuous circle for Citadel of Mo. On May 15th the broadcast of Jerzy Kordowicz (in the third channel of the Polish radio) featured “Planet RX” as a bonus to Piotr Krupski’s “Elbing 1904″, on May 31st the same composition appeared in El-Stacja in Markowe granie (Mark’s Playlist), and on July 11th once again in the broadcast of Jerzy Kordowicz. Sebastian A. Dusza derives inspiration for his works from different music genres, from classical to popular music, and ethnic music from various part of the world. His works are included in the following compilations: Contemporary Electronic Soundscapes vol. III - “ROBOT FAIRY TALES” (”Voyage Through the Stars (Robot Voice version)“) and Contemporary Electronic Soundscapes vol. IV - “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MIND” (”Dark Side of the Soul“). In the third channel of the Polish radio Jerzy Kordowicz broadcasted, apart from “Planet RX“, “Voyage Through the Stars (Robot Voice Version)” from the album CES III. El-Stacja broadcasted such compositions as “One Day in Gdynia“, “Behind the Mind” and “Onse madonse (feat. DJ Placus)“, and in addition “Third Eye” which came as 2nd in its premiere charts.

He was emaciated and very nervous.” He and Shilkret (clarinet) were playing in an ensemble, and Schendel proclaimed that as it was [url=https://www.discogs.com/artist/304975-Johannes-Brahms]Brahms[/url]’ birthday, he would only play his music. “We (the ensemble) compromised: We would change some pieces to Brahms compositions, providing he would play some pieces by another composer. Schendel shut his eyes, went into sort of a trance, and finally said, ‘The Master will allow me to play other composers, if you will play four Brahms pieces this session.’ We agreed.”

Search Add 5 The Beagle Ranch Beagle Ranch Initially formed as a solo musical vehicle for frontman/songwriter Stephen Bandola, this Calgary, Alberta based band has evolved over the years to where it is now a fully functioning quartet. But let's take you back in time while introducing you to the members of the group. Bandola is formerly the bass player and co-frontman of early '90s college-radio favourites Citrus Park. With the Beagle Ranch, he set out to play and write melodic guitar-based music with a strong songwriting focus and an appreciation for the perfectly crafted 3-minute pop tune. Bandola's first quest for pop perfection manifested itself in the 2001 release "Starcrossed". Recorded at former Citrus Park bandmate Jeff Burns' recording studio, "Starcrossed" saw the Beagle melodic direction firmly in place. Shortly after the release of "Starcrossed", the Beagle ranks increased by one. Lead guitar/harmony vocalist Jeff Kushner formally joined Bandola. Also a Calgary music scene veteran, Kushner had most recently fronted his own group, "The Beauty Myth". The duo released the 6 track recording "Mr. Ordinary World" in 2005, and played around Calgary as an acoustic duo. 2006 saw the band add bassist Conan Daly to the lineup. A longtime friend of both Jeff and Steve, and former bassist with Celtic quintet "Scatter the Mud", Daly joined his fellow pop connoisseurs in their quest for pop perfection. While gigging frequently throughout 2007 & 2008, the Beagles still had time (with the aid of their drummer pal Josip Vulic) to record the 4 song "Christmas Time" E.P. The recording (again recorded at Burns studio) centered around Bandola's seasonal ode "It's Christmas Time". More recording and playing in 2009, (with help from their pal Miles Krowicki on drums) followed by an extended break in 2010 brings us almost up to speed. 2011 was a bountiful year for the band. They released their full length CD, "A Moment Away" to great reviews (ranked #21 by the Absolute Powerpop website (Florida) "Powerpop CDs of the year" - ahead of new releases by Sloan and Fountains of Wayne). They also welcomed drummer Dave Horrocks to the Beagle ranks. In addition to his extensive behind the board experience at Calgary's Sundae Sound, Dave is an accomplished percussionist, most notably keeping time alongside Daly in Scatter the Mud. 2020 sees the band on the verge of releasing a new recording. Stephen Bandola - vocals, acoustic guitar [a1501827] - electric guitar, vocals [a6278521] - bass, vocals [a512036] - drums

Search Add 5 Jóhannes Úr Kötlum Jóhannes Bjarni Jónasson Jóhannes úr Kötlum – born Jóhannes Bjarni Jónasson (November 4, 1899 – April 27, 1972) was an Icelandic author/poet and a member of parliament. He is one of the most loved Icelandic poets – not least for his verse for children and how beautifully his words flow in the Icelandic language – making them ideal for songs. Indeed, his poems have been a constant inspiration for composers, songwriters and musicians in Iceland. More than two hundred songs and compositions have been written based on his poems/lyrics, some even performed by internationally recognised artists such as Björk here performing the song about The Christmas Cat.

Vera Iosifovna Dukhovskaya (1903—1982) is a Russian chamber singer, lyric-coloratura soprano. In 1923, Vera Dukhovskaya graduated from the Moscow Philharmonic School (later transformed into GITIS) in vocal class and then arrived in Petrograd, where, on the advice of Anatoly Lunacharsky, she began performing in an ensemble with pianist Mikhail Bikhter. From November 1924 to January 1931, in the Small Philharmonic Hall (it was then located in the current Beethoven Foyer of the BZF), musicians gave seven concerts with perfectly arranged programs: these were Russian romances - from Glinka to Stravinsky, "The Musical Creativity of a Russian Woman", where the vocal lyrics by Elizaveta Kochubey, Anna Esipova, Lyubov Strikher, Valentina Ramm, Yulia Veisberg, "The Origins of the French Romance" - from the 13th century to the songs of the French Revolution, were performed. © Archive of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. D. D. Shostakovich In 1936, Vera Dukhovskaya returned to Moscow, became a soloist of the All-Union Touring and Concert Association, but did not lose contact with the Leningrad Philharmonic. In the winter of 1937, from the Philharmonic Concert Bureau, she gives two solo concerts in the Chapel, accompanied by the Moscow pianist Vladimir Donato (real name Natan Shulman, 1906-1983), who received his pseudonym under funny circumstances from Sergei Yesenin himself. But Vera Dukhovskaya gives her first and only solo concert in the Great Hall in March 1938, accompanied by Sofia Davydova. Her performance with the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kirill Kondrashin will also be single: on November 12, 1938, she will perform Alexandrov's "Children's Songs". Dukhovskaya will appear on the stage of the Great Hall several more times in combined, more often daytime, concerts for the target audience with the Soviet repertoire. The performer of the piano part is not listed in these programs. But, most likely, it was Sofya Davydova: in February 1941, Vera Dukhovskaya will take part in the anniversary program dedicated to the 45th anniversary of the pianist's artistic activity, to her accompaniment in October 1939 she will give a solo concert from Tchaikovsky's romances in the Glazunov Conservatory Hall ( at that time it was one of the chamber venues of the Philharmonic), on April 27, 1943, they will perform together in Novosibirsk, where the Philharmonic was evacuated during the war. In the same place, in February 1943, Dukhovskaya's solo concert with pianist Pavel Waldgardt will take place. After the war, Vera Dukhovskaya did not come to Leningrad with concerts. In 1948, she left her concert career and until 1957 taught at the Musical College. Ippolitov-Ivanov.

Search Add 5 Plankton Waves Plankton Waves is the symbiotic union of producer/composer Michel Flammant and vocalist/composer Natalie Pickar who have been involved in many different projects over the years. In 2010 they decided to continue on their own, to build a place for themselves and to work in isolation. Out of this reclusion came a very distinct sound. It’s dark and haunting yet glittering and beautiful; and definitely hard to categorize. Michel’s pulsing analog synthesizers are entangled by Natalie’s androgynous vocals while tribals drums and old beat machines push the songs forward. There are hints of Wave, 70s Psychedelic or 80s Pop, yet Plankton Waves are nothing of it and more at the same time. In any case their hypnotic compositions are the perfect soundtrack for fever dreams on a windy autumn night. This becomes especially clear if you happen to witness one of their visually intense live performances. Plankton Waves have released the EPs ‘Unduriel’ (2010) and ‘Songs Of Endings’ (2013) as well as the Single ‘Cloud Caravan / We Are’ (2012) and they have shared stages in Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Germany and Norway with artists like Anika, The Soft Moon, Zoot Woman, Clock Opera, Vermin Twins and Dead Sexy Inc. Search Add 5 Das Nelson Konzept Acoustic industrial solo project from Norrköping, Sweden. Active 1993 to early 2000. Das Nelson Konzept was the brainchild and solo project of Mikael Mildén from Norrköping (later Uppsala and Stockholm), Sweden. The music mostly consisted of lo-fi industrial ballads, recorded on a four channel porta studio, in a home studio named Silent Factory. Songs were often composed and based on a guitar chord sequence or riff, with added home made instruments and simple syntheziser melodies. Later, the sound was more influenced by noise and drifted towards instrumental music. The music was released on German cassette labels Echtzeit, Maljugin Musik and Tonspur Tapes, as well as own released material on the label Gray Crow Cassettes. Das Nelson Konzept only made one live appearance at an appartment in Uppsala 23 April 1999, recorded and released as the cd-r Tal der Ahnungslosen.

Search Add 5 Notes From Prague The underground group Notes From Prague was established in 2000 by David Chvátal, a well known Czech director of skateboard videos, [a=Antwi], DJ Negative and producer Maykee, Dave´s brother. NFP was at that time a project leading to the soundtrack of the 2000 and 2001 Praha sk8 video magazines. Their debut album came out in 2002 titled "The Script of Both Elements". This soundtrack - album including 20 tracks of raw instrumental beats was also Antwi's debut. There is also a bonus track on this album - a RMX by DJ Wich - Orien Bounce. This album is quite rare, about 500 pieces came out. The second album "Same Place" in late 2004 made the group better known and there was a huge difference in the sound of their music as well. Better instrumentals, sharper and more direct performance of Darcphayce and guests like LA4, Daniela or Dr. Kary were successful elements of the the band´s progress further in the Czech hiphop scene. NFP also managed to build up a live band with strings, bass guitar and drums. Most of Antwi's lyrics contemplate about differences of life in the US and the Czech Republic (Prague and Philadelphia to be more specific). Some of the tracks in both albums also heavily influenced by life in the skateboarding community. Oblíbené skupiny

Search Add 5 Charles Carnelison May 24, 1947-August 22, 2021 Bluegrass preacher Charley Carnelison grew up in Hollister, Missouri, and was living in Springfield when he began his recording career. When he was eighteen, he joined Jack Keithley's band, the Ozark Country Boys, before forming a duo with Johnny Holt a few years later. Carnelison and Holt played on the radio locally in the Branson area, and recorded together over the course of several years. Carnelison's signature song is a gospel tune called "20-20 Vision," which bears a striking similarity to a secular heartsong recorded by Gene Autry way back in 1954 (and more famously in a bluegrass arrangement by Jimmy Martin) though he say he copyrighted his own version in 1967, first recording it in 1972. Mr. Carnelison cut several albums and published a collection of bluegrass gospel songs as well as a book of regional Ozark folklore. Eventually he quit performing due to hearing loss, but Carnelison and his band 20-20 Vision were still performing locally well into the 21st Century, with a presence on Facebook and podcasting as well.

Search Add 5 Imprey Imprey consists of Barnsley duo Dan and Matt who met back in 2012 at a local music studio. They soon discovered they had identical musical tastes and both possessed extensive music production skills from previous musical endeavors. In 2015 they decided to join forces and work on their own alias "Imprey", crafting their own unique sound of deep melodic dance music. Their first release "Troika" gained crazy support from the likes of Pete Tong, Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold, Benny Benassi, Low Steppa, Eelke Kleijn & Vanilla Ace to name a few! Each have played countless events in the UK and abroad including Transitions Festival (London, UK), Back to Basics (Sheffield, UK), Fez Presents (Sheffield, UK) & Eden (Ibiza, ES) alongside some of the worlds leading dance music artists including Dave Spoon/Shadow Child, Secondcity, Noir, Huxley, Infinity Ink & Darius Syrossian. October 2021 saw them tour the UK as the main support for good friend Franky Wah, warming up the crowd with a full set of their own productions. October 2021 also saw them get their first BBC Radio 1 play on Pete Tongs show. "Imprey - Stay" is due to be released this March on their own brand new imprint "Phonypoly Music".
