Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 Warren Murrel Warren Murrel Bassist Warren Murrel has been liberating the low end for over a decade. Prior to joining Robert Jon & The Wreck in 2017, he played bass with several SoCal acts including The Higgs, MadTab, PWEST, DMTina & the Bumps and Sutter Zachman Band. Murrel is also a graduate of the Musicians Institute for Drums and Audio Engineering, with a session engineer resume that includes work for Dweezil Zappa, Don Preston, Gordon Campbell and many more. When Murrel’s not jamming with Robert Jon & The Wreck on his one of a kind Echo Park J Bass, you can find him sipping a strong IPA in sweatpants or enjoying long walks on the beach (seriously).

Search Add 4 Klaus Bloch Klaus Bloch From 'The Crack in the Cosmic Egg' by Steven Freeman & Alan Freeman: "Hiding behind the moniker of 'A La Ping Pong', Klaus Bloch was a talented amateur guitarist who broke on to the independent scene in a small way in the early '80s. Apart from being the project name, the 'A La Ping Pong' phrase was what he called his tape delay system, which was in essence his variation on the Frippertronic system. Klaus Bloch went on to make two very different albums. The first [Phase I] featured a highly inventive music featuring more recognisably 'Frippertronic' style guitar looping and delays, with multi-tracking and electronics, often comparable to Manuel Göttsching's echo and delay guitar work, early Heldon, or Camera Obscura. Then, in contrast, Phase II took a diversion to Kraftwerk styled electro-pop blending with Frippian touches" After an extended recording hiatus, Klaus Bloch resurfaced with the 'Gnomania' LP, recorded in 1999.

Search Add 4 Mark Moogalian Mark Moogalian was born in Durham, North Carolina, where he spent a good part of his youth along the banks of the Eno River. When his family moved to Virginia, the James River took the Eno’s place. He started playing guitar and was singer/songwriter/guitarist for Look Like Bamboo and Javaman, two bands he founded in Richmond, Virginia, during the late eighties and early nineties. He then travelled to Europe where he busked from London to Venice, taking in the culture and writing songs. The trip to Europe was a turning point in his life. Mark later moved to France where he worked as a translator and English teacher for business professionals. In France he continued to write, record and perform music and often played in a small club in Paris called Le Gerpil. He lived on a houseboat on the Seine, the third river in his life, where he took up welding and started making abstract metal sculpture. He met Isabelle Risacher in 2002 and they were married in 2003. With her he performs currently as Secret Season. [Official Bio]

Search Add 4 Nicholas Edward Williams More than ever before, a wealth of people are writing songs and playing the acoustic guitar. So much so, that it can be perceived as a tired idea. But every once in awhile, there are artists that come into the fold who are living the unique music they create. Such is the case with Seattle-born fingerpicking stomp box rover, Nicholas Edward Williams. Williams was injected with a bohemian lifestyle during a nomadic childhood. By the time he was twelve years of age, his family of four had already moved across four states and nearly ten houses from the west to the east coast. He had no idea that he was being unconsciously groomed to live the Kerouac condition one day; destined to ramble, tell stories of nature, moral ground, and singing about the great people and the multiple levels of the human experience in travel. "My Grandparents took my sister and I from California to Hershey, PA and back a few times through the summer, and we took different routes each time to see various landmarks and plenty of gravestones of people I’d never met. Needless to say, I the desire to move around is in my blood." Williams began living a life on the road full-time in 2012 to pursue his music. First in a Honda Element, and later a self-converted Sprinter Van, carrying everything he owned inside a 20 foot vessel with his wife for three years. The simplistic lifestyle of spending ample amounts of time in nature and meeting various characters enabled Williams to focus his writing on the evolving self and observations of his surroundings, as opposed to the over-saturated topic of love and heartbreak that have dominated airwaves for decades. "For me, there is an unrivaled freedom in allowing life to unfold in front of you, rather than trying to grab life by the horns so you can feel like you’re in control. There are hardships of course on the road, but nothing that isn’t already a part of the process if you’re a career musician. You just have to adjust accordingly if you want longevity.” The sound that you hear from Williams now isn't exactly the same as it used to be. The bones were there, though the style he was destined for has only been recently discovered. From 2007 to 2018, Williams performed under the folk-soul moniker "Whetherman". During those years, he independently released eight full-length albums while continuously touring across the US, as well as throughout the UK and Western Europe. Williams was also afforded opportunities to opened for acclaimed acts such as Taj Mahal and The Wood Brothers. He owes his success to being exposed to roots and string music early on, forever shaping his career. "I essentially 'grew up' as a musician at a very special place called The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. I had the pleasure of performing at roots music festivals there since 2010, and that's where I was first exposed to Bluegrass, Old Time and Traditional Folk Music." This opened his eyes to a whole new world of possibilities for the direction of his music, though it wouldn't be fully realized until many years later. By mid 2017, Williams had hit a wall in his personal life and musical career, after nearly six years without a reasonable break. He decided to cancel two months of tour, and moved to Central America for seven months, by far the longest step back since launching the project. His goal was to reframe his mentality, and find a spark. This led to an evolution in musical style, dropping the "Whetherman" moniker and a desire to set forth under his full name starting in 2019. With a fresh thirst for learning fingerpicking techniques, Williams dove in depth to school himself in the history of American music, from Appalachian folk, country blues, Piedmont Blues, and deep rooted Mississippi Delta blues from the likes of Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt and Elizabeth Cotten. His affinity for songwriting also grew and matured from an unfeigned love for storytellers like John Prine, Paul Simon and Jim Croce. “I’ve become a student again. I’m absolutely fascinated with tracing American music back to it’s immigrant roots, and how these styles have woven the fabric of roots music as we know it today.” The troubadour tells stories of the silent, simple perils of the average Joe. He plays on the cliche rhythms of married life, the age of convenience, the footprint of our generation, paying homage to his musical heroes, imagery of men drinking to the follies of America, and good old-fashioned murder ballads. Williams has his own brand of satire, simple honesty, and vivid imagery that translates into energetic live shows, harnessing rhythmic fingerpicking, soaring vocals, rolling harmonica, heart-thumping stomp box and charismatic whistling. All of which is backed with engaging descriptions and infectious personality between songs. With renewed energy and fervor, Williams is set to release his debut solo album titled, ‘As I Go Ramblin' Around’ in June of 2019.

The group integrates in its formation young musicians of diverse curricular origins: Escola de Música do Conservatório Nacional, Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa, Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, among others. The incessant search for a result of excellence in choral music that has always guided his work has made the Coro Ricercare stand out for several years as a choir of reference. Since its foundation, Coro Ricercare dedicates much of its activity to the interpretation of new Portuguese music, having premiered more than 50 works of national composers since the first edition of "Young Portuguese Composers" in 2006, together with the Orquestra Sinfonietta de Lisboa , the other grouping of Ricercare. Search Add 4 Major Bank Major Bank (here among the Oomp Camp) was a gangsta rap group from Atlanta, GA made up of MC Assault (founder of Big Oomp Records along with Big Oomp & DJ Jelly), Starvin Marv & Loko. They were members of the notorious Oomp Camp. Major Bank released only one album in 1996 through Big Oomp Records, entitled "Life After Death". It's a Down South classic & one of the best album to come out of ATL. Timeless release & a the perfect example of how dope could be the crunk sound of ATL in the 90's Beside some scarce appearances, the trio vanished soon after the release of their album. Loko put out a solo album in 1999 still on Big Oomp Records. MC Assault appeared on various releases on his label. Don't know what Starvin Marv became...

He finished elementary school in Novi Sad, and secondary school in Bratislava, later studying in Budapest, Prague and Vienna. In 1870, he returned to Novi Sad to work as a doctor, motivated by the fact that his wife and children were suffering from and eventually died from tuberculosis. He wrote in many of the genres of poetry, including love, lyric, patriotic, political, youth's, and educational poetry. But he is best known for his children's poetry. His nursery rhymes have entered the Serbian national consciousness and people sing them to their children even without knowing who wrote them. His nickname Zmaj (Змај, meaning "dragon") derives from May Assembly date, 3 May 1848, in Serbian Cyrillic: 3.мај / Змај.
