Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Briars Frome | "Briars Frome"……. A small village in deepest Norfolk….nothing exceptional about it, just a few houses, a pub, the parish church….and the grand old Manor house “Briars Court” watching over it all…..nothing exceptional…..but for one thing…..it disappeared. …or rather, it was forgotten…no one went there and no one came from there. All memory of it in the surrounding villages began to fade and talk of it stopped, after a while it did not even appear on any signposts or maps of the area. All of this began in 1965, shortly after Ray and Ron Verne bought and moved into Briars Court. The Verne Brothers were a rock and roll sensation and with their new found wealth they decided to buy a country house where they could record and party and enjoy all the things that being a rock and roll star in the 60’s could bring… ….but The Verne Brothers are also forgotten… Now the road that once led to and from the village is overgrown, hidden, and the few cars that pass that way drive by unaware of what lies just beyond the heavy, dark treeline…. …..however, if you stand in the right place, at the right time, through the trees you can see the crumbling chimney stacks of the old Manor house and hear the dull sound of the old Church bell carried on the wind…..as the crows circle overhead….. ....people started to notice strange radio sounds and interference hidden at the extreme ranges of the dial...only heard in certain areas and at certain times unaware how close they were to the forgotten village...and unaware of the eyes watching and the hands reaching...

Search | Add | 4 | Quinteto 32 | Quinteto 32 | Group formed in the 60s in València and all its components Valencian. His first performances took place on Radio Nacional de España. They also did it on television. From that moment on the appearances of the [a=Quinteto 32] multiplied, achieving remarkable success. This, together with [a=Los Caliope] (with María Elvira as singer [a=Elvira (13)]) were the pioneers in València in terms of student amateur youth music. In the first stage the group consisted of: [a=Juan Roberto González], piano; [a=Francisco Almarche] (Paco), as drums and vibraphone; [a=José Luis Berenguer], as clarinet and sax; [a=Cesar Penadés Camps], as lead guitar and vocals; [a=Salvador Prades] (Soro), as violin and double bass. In 1963 they were signed by the [l=Zafiro] label, which released their first album at the end of the same year with versions of hits such as 'L'Ecole Est Finie' by the French [a=Sheila (5)] or 'Let's Dance' by [a=Chris Montez]. A series of performances and interventions on different stations took them until the beginning of 1965, the date on which they released their second and last EP, also distributed in the form of two singles, a format that was already being imposed on a massive scale by then. Four songs under the recent rhythm called 'surf' and with titles like 'Drink Surf' or 'The Best Remedy'. After a while they became known as "Quinteto 8 Menos Quarto". Once again and as usual, the fulfillment of the military service ruined the continuity of the group. Search | Add | 4 | Plain White Toast | Plain White Toast was a Cleveland-based hard-edged/art band primarily active from 1987-1990. Their major influences at the time were: The Cure, King Crimson, Black Sabbath, Hüsker Dü, Sisters of Mercy, New Order, Depeche Mode, Ministry, Loop, etc. Founders Brad Hackley (guitar) and Moz (vocals) formed the outfit in early 1986 along with Ron Hazeloop (bass) and Scott Wolf (drums). Upon Wolf's departure, Hackley recruited drummer Brian Silickas; shortly after, Cam joined for a short stint as bassist. PWT entered the Beat Farm Recording studio in the late spring of '87 to begin work on their self-titled debut EP and performed in their first-ever gig at the Beat Farm Festival that summer. Mixing was not even completed on the recording when Cam was replaced by bassist Dave Hackley. The bass work was re-recorded and the main core of Plain White Toast was set. Throughout 1988-89, PWT played regularly in Cleveland at Pat's in the Flats, plus a few show at The Phantasy and Symposium as well as Cleveland Public Theater, Studio-A-Rama (7-22-89) at Case Western Reserve University and a show in Toledo (Numbers). Sue Hackley also joined the band onstage on many occasions to play oboe. During this period, the band begin recording their second EP Styles and Distortion at Modern Recording Services. By this time, frontman Moz made his exit and a new era began. During late 1989-91, Plain White Toast worked as a trio with brothers Brad and Dave taking over vocal duties. Again, Mike Brady occasionally augmented the band on keyboards. PWT continued to gig; in addition to local shows, they performed in Chicago (Zsar Bar), Murfreesboro, TN (in some hole-in-the-wall near Middle Tennessee State University) and New York City (CBGB's!). Their final EP November Twister was also recorded during this time at Magnetic North Recording. Drummer Silickas departed from the band in October 1991, thus ending an era. Brad and Dave continued the band for a short time after…

Search | Add | 4 | Skandinavia | Skandinavia | Upon hearing of a new band formed by ex-Bellatrix singer/songer Eliza Newman and featuring former Crashland bassist Martin Maddaford, your correspondent became all misty-eyed, recalling the halcyon days when being ‘indie’ involved dancing to the Evening Session and getting ink smudges from glossy copies of the Melody Maker (sniff). Far from being a Class of 2000 alt.pop supergroup (Fierce Panda contingent), Skandinavia are actually embracers of Rawk Music and duly have the riffery to prove it. New single 'Never Too Late' comes on like a slab of early ‘90s power metal, with layered wailing vocals, soaring violin and thumping bass, but without the ‘ironic’ factor that could have them labelled as a typical ‘post-Darkness’ band (even though Dan Hawkins once played guitar for them). Meanwhile B-side 'Storm' is reminiscent of 'Pablo Honey'-era Radiohead given more oomph, dusted with string accompaniment and replacing Thom for PJ Harvey. Plus the lyrical content is said to concern Nordic mythology, which is a far cry from singing about Star Wars fanatics and wetting yourself in front of potential boyfriends. Stormy, mystical and highly enjoyable Iceland rock it is, then. Vocals, Violin – Eliza Newman Bass – Martin Maddaford Drums – Dave Collinder Guitar – Claire Wakeman |

Search | Add | 4 | Dusty Watt | Dr Allan Charles Watt | Dusty Watt (real name Dr Allan Charles Watt) joined the NZ Army Territorial Reserve Force in 1978 and 1980 transferred to the Regular Force. He served a total time of 17 1/2 years combined service in the Regular and Reserve Forces. He further served with the NZ Police as a sworn officer for around 9 years. After which he attended University and completed numerous qualifications, the highest being a PhD in Forensic Computing. What does this have to do with the music? Nothing, but as the writer of this album it is worth a mention. At age 12 whilst attending the early years of high school, with a group of others attended guitar lessons and soon realised he had a natural aptitude for the instrument. Apart from a few talent quests in his younger years and the odd Karaoke appearance, until now has never written any music or performed on a stage as a musician. Inspired by his maternal Grandfather Phillip Charles McBarron, who was shot and wounded in the fields of the Somme in August 1918, in 2014 Dusty commenced writing songs in commemoration of the 100 years of the ANZACs involvement in the Great War. He wrote the tunes and lyrics for all the songs on the album “The Ghost of the Somme”. After this he ventured into a new era, this time recording his own songs and the album “The Dusty Trail” and it is slowly developing. I hope you enjoy my music. |

Search | Add | 4 | Dr. Cabrera | Sergio Cabrera Hernández | Sergio Cabrera’s influence has been making a big impact on dance floors since the underground rave scene of the early 90’s. Sergio made a name for himself on his native island of Tenerife showcasing new beats and regularly playing before cheering crowds of Old Skool Hardcore, Jungle and Drum and Bass devotees. From humble beginnings playing rundown warehouses and back gardens, Sergio’s popularity quickly won him residencies for Tenerife’s most iconic clubs, playing a mix of UK Garage, 2 Step and Speed Garage. Making the move to London, UK, Sergio soon became resident DJ at N1 Leicester Square, Pacha London and the infamous Polarise nights, playing side by side with Daniel Brosnan, Dom Chevez, Philips and George, Marky D, Remedy, Sonny Wharton, Trophy Twins, Filthy Rich, Hoxton Whores, Ratpack and Slipmatt (SL2) to name a few. From pulling international crowds to their feet in Tenerife at Paradise Club, Busby’s and Bobby’s, El Establo and the Joyce Bar, Sergio moved permanently to London to pursue his passion for audio engineering. He studied at the world famous SAE institute and went on to record, edit and mix for documentary and fashion film soundtracks. He has released tracks with labels like Madison Square Records, Monkey Show Records and ExperimentalBass Records. With airplay on radio stations like Essentialclubbers and Renegade FM, Sergio’s music style is diverse, encompassing everything from Old Skool Hardcore, Drum and Bass and Jungle to Funky House, Electro Tech House, House and Breakbeat. Sergio’s undeniable flare for mixing Old Skool Hardcore with new and exciting beats has seen him develop a music portfolio that exemplifies his wealth of knowledge that is intrinsically tied to his musical roots in the heyday of rave culture. However firmly rooted his sound might be, it hasn’t stopped Sergio from exploring exciting new territories as a dance music artist. Staying true to his innate curiosity and persistent obsession for advances in software applications, Sergio has evolved into a multi-genre producer offering an almost painterly palette of sounds and interesting mixes. His acute sense of hearing and attention to detail filters the subtle changes of a polyphonic composition, complementing his versatility and vast technical knowledge. The inquisitive mind of this young Spanish producer has drawn him to explore the direct psychological and physiological responses associated with compositional frequencies, leading him down the path of psychoacoustics and sound installations. As of now, Sergio has only scratched the surface of his musical possibility as he continues to dive into the creative depths of music production to develop a sonic language of his own. He has set out on a mission to stimulate our brains and expand our perceptual responses in ways that will take our receptors on a next-level musical journey. We eagerly await his upcoming work. “Creating music in a studio is great as you know it will create a response - a feeling - when it’s heard, but nothing compares the immense feeling of joy I get from playing in front of a crowd that goes wild at the movement of my fingertips.” - Sergio Cabrera |

His voice has a uniquely ethereal quality, which speaks to one’s soul in a most unreserved, heartfelt manner. Search | Add | 4 | John Bult | John Bult wants to set the record straight. His one and only LP, Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday should have been his calling card to country music stardom. Instead the album has been singled out as the best of the worst – not for Bult’s singing abilities, but for its unfortunate cover art. “It still chaps me real bad,” he said. “The whole thing still makes me mad, even after all of these years.” In 1980, John Bult was playing gigs throughout his native Louisiana, when he met up with Howard Richard, an investor who liked Bult’s sound, and thought the Lake Charles crooner could hit the big time. “We went to Nashville, and had a meeting with Chet Atkins and Ray Stevens,” Bult said. “It was my chance to stick my foot in the door, but I didn’t. I was thinking about all of the things I would have to give up, like family. So I went back to Lake Charles.” Instead of giving up on the dream, Richard convinced Bult to record his music. So he paid for some studio time, and enlisted the help of Teddy Broussard to produce an album. But according to Bult, Broussard wanted a more hands-on involvement in the project—including the art concept of the album cover, and the selections of the songs. Broussard was himself a songwriter who had worked in Nashville, but he never achieved any notable success. With an eager, but admittedly naïve singer, he saw his opportunity to further his own dreams. “I guess the first mistake I made was not signing a contract with him,” Bult admitted. “When I was 19, I was under contract with the Temple Brothers in Fort Worth, with Soundtrack-Chevelle records. They had me record a bunch of crazy songs that weren’t country. They were never released. I didn’t want to sing anything but country, so I talked to an attorney, and he told me if I didn’t like what was going on, to leave, and go about my business. So I decided I would never sign another recording contract again.” Recorded at Master-Trak Sounds (in Crowley, LA), Bult, Broussard, and a half a dozen studio musicians and backing vocalists quickly recorded ten songs for his debut—five written by Broussard, including “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday.” “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday” tells the story of Jim, a guy who hangs out in bars, and enjoys a drink, or two, a little more than he should. He tells his friend Lou that he can’t stay at the bar long tonight, because his daughter Julie is turning 16 that very day, and going out on her first date. But Jim loses track of time, (and the number of beers he’s had), and proceeds to get behind the wheel of his car, where he hopes to speed back in time to see Julie off on her big night. As he reaches for a bottle of booze under the seat, he slams into an oncoming car. In the hospital, Jim learns that a young man was injured, and a teenaged girl died. Nobody sees the twist at the end of the song coming. “I said, ‘Lou, should I pass on, before she comes in, be sure and tell Julie how sorry I am for spoiling her birthday.” “He said ‘Jim, save your breath, because when you meet her in heaven, you can tell her yourself.’” After the recording, Broussard decided to title the album after his ode to paternal vehicular manslaughter. Bult says he was never consulted. We took a picture of me and my guitar, which I thought was going to be the cover,” he said. “But Ted met this girl at a restaurant, and asked her parents if he could use their daughter on the front of my album. The cover, shot at Pat O’Carroll’s Restaurant, in Lake Charles, shows Bult, sitting at a table, holding his wedding ring-adorned hand, with Kim Whitehead, a 16-year old, from Lake Charles. A half consumed beer is placed next to an ashtray, on a stained tablecloth. Behind them is a propped-up guitar, next to a piano. What was supposed to look like a living room, in a family home, looked more like a honky-tonk. “During the photo shoot, Ted kept telling her to look serious, like her dad is talking to her,” Bult said. “But she just kept looking sad to me.” When the final album was pressed, and Bult saw the finished product, he was livid. “I told him I didn’t like the look of it, one bit. Instead of looking like a dad and his daughter, it looks like some guy trying to pick up a chick in a bar. Nobody is going to know that is supposed to be Julie. I didn’t like it one bit.” To make matters worse, Bult provided Broussard with a biography for the liner notes, but instead of using the information, Broussard decided to fabricate the singer’s credentials—including a story of discovering Bult in shopping mall lounge. “That isn’t true—not at all. I’ve been performing for years. I played with Roy Head when I was 19 at Randy’s Rodeo, in San Antonio, and been on the Louisiana Hayride, before I even met Ted Broussard." An estimated 250 copies were pressed (DSR 4981), and Bult went on performing, almost forgetting about his debut recording. Then came the Internet. Sometime around 2003, a blogger stumbled upon the record, and dubbed it the worst album cover…ever. The trend to vilify the front cover art of LPs took off, with books by Nick DiFonzo (Worst Albums Cover Ever and Seriously Bad Album Covers) and websites Bizarre Records, LP Cover Lover, and Cover Browser, ranking Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday, and its questionable photograph, at the top of almost every “worst” list. The unique adulation for his 1980 album caught Bult completely off guard. “My sister-in-law was in Washington D.C., and she called me, and told me look it up, I couldn’t believe it.” On May 17, 2011, Ellen DeGeneres spotlighted the record on the Bad Album Covers segment of her daytime show. “When I saw that, I got chapped all over again. I e-mailed her, or whoever her handlers are, and I explained it all to them. I didn’t hear back from anyone.” Unbeknownst to Bult, in 1985, Ted Broussard re-released the album (Ra Chelle 12483 – minus the fabricated liner notes), and released a single of “Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday.” “I asked a couple of attorneys and a judge about him re-releasing the album like that, and not giving me any money. They asked if he made millions of dollars on it. I said he didn’t, and that was pretty much the end of that.” The scarcity of the album, coupled with the notoriety, has made Julie’s Sixteenth Birthday a “holy grail” addition for those who collect maligned album covers - with collectors paying upwards of $100 for sealed copies. John Bult now lives in southeastern Louisiana, where he is semi-retired from performing. In 2007 he recorded a CD, but never released it. “It was some old favorites, in different styles, like country and jazz. I was going to do an on-line thing, but I just didn’t get around to it.” Ted Broussard got out of the music business, and opened up a Mexican food restaurant. Bult says he rarely sees him, but when their paths cross he manages a dig, or two, about the album art. “If that were my daughter, I wouldn’t have let her on the cover.” Attempts to locate Kim Whitehead were unsuccessful.
