Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Vonhorn | Vonhorn was formed by Adam Daffurn (formally of Dandelion Killers & God Save The King) and Dominic Luckman, (Cardiacs, Shrubbies, Flinch) with St. John Milinczuk (Troy Redfern, Will Killeen) completing the line up in the summer of 2017. Stuttering through scratchy riffs, flitting from mellotron infused soundscapes and rousing cinematic choruses, to angular, abrasive pop hooks, Vonhorn's melting-pot of sounds can be likened to that of Bowie, XTC and Fantomas, as well as echoes of their past bands. The group made their live debut in September 2017, at the Worcester Music Festival and are currently recording the first album, scheduled for release early in 2018.

Search | Add | 2 | Rex Battle | Rex Battle. Pianist, bandleader, conductor, composer, b London 4 Jan 1892 (1895?), d Toronto 27 Jan 1967. A child prodigy, he had his first piano lessons with Vlahol Budmani, who presented him at Buckingham Palace. Battle later studied organ with E.H. Thorne. After several tours in Australia he settled in New York, where he assisted Sigmund Romberg in the production of operettas. He resumed his career as a pianist with a series of broadcasts in 1921 on WWJ, Detroit, then played 1922-9 at the Mount Royal Hotel, Montreal. He was conductor 1929-38 of the Royal York Hotel Concert Orchestra, Toronto, which was heard in the USA on the NBC network for several years, and he also conducted an orchestra, chorus, and soloists for broadcast 1930-1 on the CPR network. He formed in 1934 one of Canada's first (jazz) big bands; with Trump Davidson and Cliff McKay among its members, it performed in the summer of 1935 at Bob-Lo Island near Detroit. After three years in New York, where he studied piano with Moriz Rosenthal and Hedwig Kanner-Rosenthal, performed and conducted, Battle appeared in 1941 as pianist with the Promenade Symphony Concerts in Toronto. Soon after he returned to live in Toronto, where he served 1943-56 as music director and conductor of CBC radio's 'Singing Stars of Tomorrow'. In 1962 he began performing with young operatic singers of his choice at Toronto's Gaslight Restaurant. Battle composed a short orchestral piece, Simon Says 'Thumbs Up ' (Thompson), as well as morceaux for piano, violin, and voice. His few 78s for Apex as a pianist (in Chopin and Liszt) and accompanist (to Ernest-Gill Plamondon, Roy O'Connor and Leon Kofman) are listed in Roll Back The Years. Apex 78s attributed to 'Rex Battle And His Dance Orchestra' or 'Rex Battle and His Mount Royal Hotel Orchestra' have been disputed by Battle and are possibly examples of his name simply being used as a pseudonym for recordings by other artists.

Search | Add | 2 | Herman The Hermit | Clifford Herman Snyder | 1884-1964. Herman settled in Stockton, California and moved in 1922 to Burbank, where, amidst the first movie studios, he and his wife opened the 5 acre Snyder Nursery. With his several hound dogs in tow, he would go hunting in what was then a very rural area. Soon, with his growing contacts and friends in the film biz, he would rent out his hounds as “atmosphere dogs” for movies, often appearing with them as the appropriate background character (One source claims he appeared in 100 films). His unusual “big break” occurred during the filming of 1930’s “The Big Trail” (which featured John Wayne in his first leading role). After playing “Oh Suzanna” on his banjo for the film crew’s evening campfires during the three month location shoot, he was later asked by director Raoul Walsh to play it on the film score. When a popular KEHE radio show host/singer named Stuart Hamblen went to the movies one day and heard the banjo on the soundtrack, he tracked down and hired Snyder for his radio show band. Snyder happened to show up in the long hair and full beard that he had been asked to grow for his Big Trail “pioneer extra” role, whereupon Hamblen christened him “Herman the Hermit,” which immediately became his professional stage name for the remainder of his career. I wonder whether he ever longed to return to a short-haired, clean-shaven appearance – he certainly seems to have embraced the “hermit” character, with a joyous inviting smile in every photo he appears in. When Herman later got his bassist son – also named Clifford (G.) Snyder – a spot in Hamblen’s band, Hamblen nicknamed the lad “Cliffie Stonehead,” simply because he wanted to keep his dad’s “hermit” character intact! The younger Cliff would eventually shorten it to become “[a=Cliffie Stone]” for the remainder of his life. Grandfather of [a601671] and [a1193604]. |

Search | Add | 2 | Stephen Sandlin | Stephen Sandlin has been making music and performing around Texas, since the early 90s. Originally from Houston, he spent time in New York City, New Jersey and North Carolina before settling back in Houston to make music, art prints, and video projects. Attempting to bring humor and energy, to both the stage and his recordings. With a collection of solo works, music written with his band Haywood, as well as collaborations with Brandon Elam of The Literary Greats. There's plenty to enjoy. 2021’s Contra Festival Monterey Crock-pot is his first solo release, since the slow down of his band, Haywood. Haywood was formed in 1996, when Texas A&M students, Stephen Sandlin and Brandon Elam, collaborated on writing a few songs. Fellow students Kris Arnold, Craig Hoenes, and Chris Huntley joined in, and the Haywood lineup was set. A local band drawing more than a thousand people at a show was unheard of in College Station, TX, but this band did it regularly. Often compared to Guster, Ben Folds, Barenaked Ladies, and Fountains of Wayne, the band’s 1997 release of Flat Tires was the year's most notable, local album. Two songs entered rotation on regional radio. In concert, however, is where the band built a rabid following. The band's remarkable connection with its audiences helped to mold the packed houses into a collective pogo stick, with bouncing and cheering coming from all corners of the venues. In the late 90s and early 2000s, Haywood scored highly prized opening gigs for the likes of David Garza, Bob Schneider’s Ugly Americans, Vertical Horizon, Sister 7 and Chris Duarte. Haywood kicked off, and then headlined, several local music festivals. They went on to release two more full length albums, Tune in the Sun and Shake It, and a 5 song EP The Hartford Complex. Haywood’s true appeal lies in infectiously fun songs and an unprecedented amount of local success. With band members spread between Houston, New York City, and Dallas, shows became less frequent. A set of reunion shows was put together in 2012. New shows are planned for 2021.
