Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Manzoor Ahmad Khan Niazi Ustad Manzoor Ahmed Khan Niazi has passed away today. He was 98. He was, both age-wise and stature-wise the senior-most Qawwal in the Indo-Pak Subcontinent. He had one of the most instantly recognizable and absolutely, mellifluously endearing voices in all of Qawwali. He was the leader of the most phenomenally gifted, albeit short-lived Qawwali group of the last century, a Supergroup which included his cousins Munshi Raziuddin Khan. Ustad Bahauddin Khan and Iftekhar Ahmed Nizami, and whose surviving recordings seem to date from a time and place that's almost too phenomenally wonderful that merely listening to them sometimes feels like an act of desecration. His last recordings, from when he was 90 years old, still carried the same verve, the same 'taazgi' as his recordings from the '60s His was the voice that first sang Maulana Jami's "Naseema" and Nawab Hilm's "Yaad Hai Kuch Bhi Hamaari Kanhaiyya" to me, and even today I can scarcely appreciate these two canonical Qawwali kalaams in any other Qawwal's voice. With Niazi Sb's passing closes the chapter of the Golden Age of Pakistani Qawwali. He was a predecessor of, and later a contemporary of Nusrat, The Sabri Brothers, Aziz Mian Qawwal, Bakhshi Salamat Qawwal, Aziz Ahmed Warsi, Jafar Hussayn Khan Badayuni and ALL the Qawwals of the latter three quarters of the twentieth century. He survived them all well into the twenty-first century before finally returning to his Maker

Search Add 2 Diplomatz Damir Avdić Damir Avdić alias Diplomatz is a hardcore poet and performer who talks about Bosnia today, at the twilight of a modern world controlled by fake religion, commercialized revolution, and false democracy serving as a cover for capitalist brutality. He sings in Bosnian: "Whoever wants to understand, will understand!" Razor-sharp lyrics, shot from the heart and hitting you right in the head. The truth hurts, and Diplomatz tells it without compromise, and without mercy. With the eyes of a psycho and hard, powerful, threatening guitar riffs, he delivers a message without any illusions. Damir Avdić (from Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina) was known in the 1990's as frontman of the hard-hitting punk rock band Rupa u zidu (Hole in the Wall), with whom he released four albums. They kept on playing and putting out records even during the war in Bosnia. In 2004 he made his first solo album ...od trnja i žaoka (...by thorns and stings), a kind of soundtrack for his novel Na Krvi Ćuprija (Bridge over Blood), which talks about Bosnia during and right after the war. The CD and novel were both issued by the legendary underground pioneer Zdenko Franjić. Thanks to Damir Avdić’s intense performances, word quickly spread about this unusual (anti)singer-songwriter. Diplomatz alias Damir Avdić is everything in one: singer, poet, guitarist, band, actor, writer, thinker. Everything he does, he does from the heart. He comes from the tough underground scene of Tuzla, where he has collaborated with bands like rock'n'rollers No Rules, dub/reggae outfit Defence, and hip-hop rhyme fighter Frenkie. He is currently part of the Moonlee Records stable. His second album Mrtvi su mrtvi! (The Dead Are Dead!), recorded for Moonlee Records, will be coming out in March 2008. The new album is more direct than its predecessor and just as raw as his live performances, hitting as hard as ever. "You can't break the system from outside, by explosion. You have to do it from within, by implosion – and that can bring you down, too," says hardcore Diplomatz, ending his challenge with a question: "Are you ready?"

Search Add 2 Atomik Destruktor Atomik Destruktor was formed in May 2007. It all started when Turtle, Gibson and Jota, three friends in high school, decided to start a thrash metal band. At the same time Turtle asked his long time friend Pedraça to join the band. With an enormous urge to play old school thrash metal, influenced by great 80s bands such as Destruction, Sodom, Kreator, Metallica, Slayer, Exodus, etc, they started thrashing with Turtle on bass and vocals, Gibson and Pedraça on guitars and Jota on drums. In October of that year, Turtle left the band. That’s when Marco joined the band in to play bass and Paulo Thrasher took over the vocals. Months later, Paulo left the band and Turtle returned as the vocalist. Thus the definitive lineup of Atomik Destruktor was formed, five friends with rage for thrash and rock n’ roll who still to this day have a good time getting high and drunk together. Right from the start they compose original, aggressive and violent music dealing with themes such as thrash and getting wasted, along with social issues, such as war and dissent. In 2008 they played their first concerts. Later that year, they recorded a demo that came out in 2009, entitled “Destroy, Disagree & Disrespect.” The album had 4 songs in K7 format, and was distributed by Luci Dist. Prod. A few months later the demo was released as a CD by Thai label Roots Active Productions. At that time, they were performing in Portugal and composing new songs loaded with aggressiveness, hostility and protest. After some delays, they started recording their first LP in 2011, at Grave Studios and still performing live. The recording took longer than expected due to some setbacks but finally, in early 2015, they will release an album entitled “Unnatural Disorder” with 8 songs that are pure thrash, under the label Helldprod. Their destruction, intoxication and appetite for thrashing continue.

Search Add 2 Julio Venegas Julio Venegas (3 April 1972, El Paso, Texas — 15 February 1996, ibid.) was an American musician, bassist, visual artist, and illustrator, best known as the close friend and early collaborator of [a=Cedric Bixler-Zavala] and [a=Omar Rodriguez-Lopez]. (See Julio (left) with Cedric in the 2nd photo). He committed suicide at 24, which profoundly impacted both artists. They dedicated most of the [a=At The Drive-In]'s 1997 album [m=45442], particularly the song "Ebroglio," as well as [a=The Mars Volta]'s [m=9308] (2002) and the critically acclaimed debut album, [m=9154] (2003), to the life and death of Venegas. Most recently, in August 2016, [a=Omar Rodriguez-Lopez] used one of his drawings as the front cover of his [m=1611296] album. Venegas was born to a single mother, Maria Guadalupe Venegas (1926—1989), and grew up in El Paso, Texas, leading a tumultuous lifestyle since childhood. When his mother died, 17-year-old Julio made his first suicide attempt by overdosing on morphine; Venegas went into a coma instead, with his right side paralyzed after he woke up. Julio re-learned how to walk during the lengthy recovery, later again incapacitating his arm by further attempts to inject various chemical mixtures; Omar and Cedric jokingly called their friend "Frankenstein" for multiple scars over his body. Venegas introduced them to other genres besides punk and hardcore, with bands and artists like [a=Fela Kuti], [a=Magma (6)], and [a=Can]; he played bass in Cedric Bixler's band [a=Dregtones] while the co-founder and core bassist [a=Jimmy Hernandez] was away at school. Julio Venegas also drew the artwork for the group's demo tape [r=9335229] in 1994. (Dregtones dissolved later the same year after Hernandez died of cancer.) The exact circumstances of Julio's suicide are unclear; many sources claimed he jumped off a freeway overpass into the busy afternoon traffic, while others report Venegas took his life at home. According to subsequent interviews with Cedric and Omar, one of the main reasons behind Julio's tragic decision was bullying and tormenting from [a=Ben Rodriguez], a temporary guitarist and backing vocalist with [a=At The Drive-In] in 1996–97 (who briefly replaced [a=Jim Ward] on [r=1332686] EP, the first record where [a=Omar Rodriguez-Lopez] switched to guitar and new members [a=Paul Hinojos] and [a=Tony Hajjar] joined). Bixler-Zavala and Omar-Rodriguez described Ben as a "sociopath," and he was kicked out of the band shortly after. In 2002, when Omar and Cedric released the [m=9308], a debut release by their new band [a=The Mars Volta], one of the songs, "Concertina," revisited these tragic events. The group's debut full-length album, [m=9154], which came out in June 2003, was based on a "Cerpin Taxt" short story by [a=Cedric Bixler-Zavala] and Jeremy M. Ward — a fictionalized and dramatized version of Julio Venegas life and tragic demise. (Ward died from a heroin overdose in May 2003, weeks before the album's release.)

Search Add 2 Lions Quartette Of Seattle The Enchanters were founded as the Seattle Lions Club Quartette, presumably in the mid 1920s. Its members were Marshall Sohl (first tenor), Elmore Bostwick (second tenor), Rudolph Allen (first bass), and Cecil Remington (second base). The group performed at Lions Club functions, at venues throughout Washington state, and toured in California. In 1928, the quartet recorded "Deep River" and "Moanin' Lady" for the Columbia Record Company, becoming the first Lions Club quartet to be recorded professionally. By 1929, the group had changed its name to the Enchanters. The quartet performed regularly on radio station KJR in Seattle, Washington and developed a following of fans who enjoyed their old time Southern repertoire of spirituals and minstrel songs. Other broadcasters carried the Enchanters Quartet's programs, enabling listeners throughout the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada, and beyond to hear their music.
