Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Sardineta Band formed around 1977, with musicians from [a1990123] and [a3653187]. Their style was very close to early [a1235971], trying to perform a repertoire close to the people, reclaiming the streets performance and the spirit of popular romerias. The music of Sardineta was a blend of Catalonian rumba, salsa, pasodoble, cha-cha-cha, jotas, habaneras or rock, adding some theatrical manners and a libertarian attitude. After a single published in 1978, they've released a self-titled LP in 1979. They definitely disbanded in 1980.

Search Add 2 Judgment JUDGMENT were a Thrash band formed in Cork around 1987 and eventually split around 1992/3. They played all over Ireland and had two releases... ‘Chemical Amusement Park’ and ‘Perfect Murder’. The band then changed tack and another couple of demos tracks were recorded in 1992 which took the band in a more mainstream direction. These tracks were never officially released and the band soon evolved into Mr. NSF… a sort of Alt/Funk/Rock outfit. A far cry from their Thrashy beginnings. Mr. NSF released an EP in 1993 called ‘Leave The Lies’ and another the following year called ‘Nobody’. Roll on another year and the band had evolved yet again. This time releasing another demo under the name ANASAZI. None of these later releases are Metal, but more Alt/Rock and mainstreem sounding. Some members moved to Australia and eventually and Oz/Irish band emerged called FOR ENEMIES OF REASON. One EP has been recorded and released to date. All the releases listed above have been made available for free download on Soundcloud. Link below…

Search Add 2 Johnston Atoll Johnston Atoll were a fun-punk / pop-punk band from the Bergisch Gladbach area, that existed for about 10 years at all. As children, [a7436802] (later known as Sin Stanley and [a2496005]) and [a7436799] hung out in Sallys' grandma's basement to work on music with a keyboard, a bass-guitar and vocals. They called themselves "Lassies im Toaster" in the very early days (around 1993) and wrote german lyrics, having some lil hits with "Mein Frisör", "Wenn ich ein Mädchen wär" or "Das Ungetüm greift zu". In 1995 they changed their name to "Johnston Atoll" (named after an island where the US used to do some atom-bomb testings in the 60s) and wrote their songs in english language only. Starting out as a three-piece with new drummer [a7436801], pretty soon they got joined by lead-guitarist Kees to do only one concert with this line-up. It was the first one in May 1996. Sally didn´t get along with Kees (reasons might´ve been Sallys puberty…) and the band went on as a three-piece. More shows followed, same as two DIY tapes "Slubberdegullion" (1996) and "Misspent Youth" (1997). In 1998 [a7436803] joined the band. Before that time he played in bands like [a166166] or Atomic Garden. In 1999 the first and only album "Utters" (CD, Kot Records) followed. Johnston Atoll played shows throughout Germany until 2001, then changed their name to [a4301419] and their music style more towards alternative rock.

Search Add 2 The Grass Mountain Hobos The Hobos are of another time. A time when pleasure usurped profession; when live music provided the soundtrack for excess; this period they bring to life on stages across Canada. With a stage show that harkens back to the days of the travelling salesman, The Hobos are the cure-all elixir for those requiring entertainment. Their brand of music is authentic and complex, mixing equal parts of the carnival, farm, tavern and circus. Two acoustic guitars, a banjo, mandolin, doghouse bass and a fiddle create the unique backdrop over which the 6 vocalists paint malevolent yet harmonious works of art. Their music drives and swings while they stomp - the crowd smiles and joins in. The band began in the June 2007 when they entered the showcase at The Rollo Bay Old-Time Music Festival in their native Prince Edward Island for free tickets to the festival. They won the fan choice award and were asked to play the next night - for money! Since that weekend the Hobos have been busking the streets, hopping on and off trains and making people smile from sea to shining sea. Their first album The Grass Mountain Hobos won 3 2009 PEI Music Awards and The 2009 East Coast Music Association's Bluegrass Album of the Year. A swing, bluegrass, blues, and folk infusion – The Grass Mountain Hobos give a carousing performance that is bound to entertain audiences Canada wide. With music full of humour and musicality, the band has received a standing ovation from every festival crowd that they have played to. Touring constantly, The Hobos bring with them music of the wandering dreamer and the train hopping adventurer in a way that engages audiences both young and old. The Hobos are...
