Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Trev Turley Trev Turley has been playing bass ever since 1968, seriously from 1970. Born in West Bromwich his career has spanned 5 decades, not only throughout the Midlands, but London too. Bands like, Ginger, Labyrinthus, Ferret, Still, Nick & the Dogs formed his early years, moving onto 3am, BBBB (Bare Bones Boogie Band), Malaya Blue Band, Joe Anderton Band and his current band the MoJo Preachers. At some point he often brings out his own band TT&F (Trev Turley & Friends) a bunch of seasoned session musicians that ranges from a six to a nine-piece band. 'Cherish Ever' a Legacy Album, released in 2021, is the jewel in his crown drawing on all five decades of music making. He has finally released (27/08/2022) his long awaited book 'Sky Trails & Pie Tales - An autobiographical memoir by Trev Turley'. "A bass-player's tale. An honest reminiscence of the music business from the 60's to the present day." (Published by 'The Cherished Synapse'.)

Search Add 2 Crossfire Duo Crossfire Duo consisted of percussionists Bob Fullex and Jason Bauers, and was active from 2010 through 2013. The two drummers met as teenagers in the wintry barracks of Buffalo, NY, taking lessons from the same local teacher, and continued their collaboration in grad school at SUNY Buffalo. The group took their name from one of the first pieces they tackled, Richard Festinger’s Gordian, stamina-testing, Crossfire, which they spent a year perfecting. Always a collaborative project, Crossfire built their distinctive repertoire from the ground up, commissioning new works from Rust Belt-based composers with whom they worked very closely, allowing these artists to help shape the duo into what it became (their only stipulation being that each piece’s percussion battery be able to wedge into a small sedan for touring). Through intense basement sessions marked by trial, error, and experimentation, Crossfire and their collaborators cultivated an eccentric arsenal of pieces marked by a variety of newly-developed and highly-nuanced techniques, including some works–like Jacob Gotlib’s Portrait Sequence (Blanching Out) and Megan Grace Buegger’s Daring Doris–that didn’t even involve striking a single object. The duo performed these works around the Midwest and at prestigious festivals alongside ensembles such as the Slee Sinfonietta. Bob and Jason’s work eventually took them to different parts of the state, forcing Crossfire to hang up their sticks, but not before the duo executed an impressive recording of some of the key pieces of their rep. Recently unearthed, their album Vellum was released by Infrasonic Press in Summer 2023.

Search Add 2 UCBM United Color of Black Metal is the duo of Jean-Baptiste Geoffroy (Pneu, La Colonie de Vacances, Tachycardie, Futuroscope) and Guillaume Brot. Oscillators, transducers, microphones, outdated objects, two people, fermented fruit juice without additives, percussions, humour in the colours of the project and a very special tool, chance. Nothing is foreseen, not even the music. Nothing happens by chance, except maybe all things that happen to everyone, all the time. United Color of Black Metal is not a coincidence, UCMB embodies coincidence in its music.

The band features a crisp horn section and a tight rhythm section along with amazing 4 part vocal harmonies, performing original music written by Ken DeRouchie as well as a few handpicked twists on classic tunes. Influences for the band include everything from Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz, Koko Taylor, Steely Dan, Jill Scott and Galactic. KDB has had the pleasure of opening for such national acts as Cheap Trick, Blood Sweat and Tears, Curtis Salgado, Robben Ford, The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Mary Wilson and the Supremes, and Leftover Salmon. Top players from the Northwest join DeRouchie, including Northwest Soul phenom, Arietta Ward (DooDoo Funk All-stars), long-time KDB bassist Rob Busey (Robbie Laws), virtuoso guitarist Jeff Knudson (Lisa Mann and Her Really Good Band), keyboardist Brian Harris (Curtis Salgado), drummer Paul Ansotegui, Pete Peterson on tenor sax and Caleb Denison on trumpet. Portland Radio legend Steve Pringle writes “Ken and his band bring it each and every night. Horns that moan and wail, guitars that grind and soothe and a rhythm section tighter than a frogs ass. The KDB has a story to tell, pull up a chair.” Marty Gunther - Blues Blast Magazine writes “Muse is totally soulful from beginning to end. DeRouchie is a masterful songwriter, and the varying musical textures used keep you interested throughout. Available through all of the major websites, this isn’t your granddad’s blues. It’s totally modern in every way and definitely worth a taste.” Andre Hagestadt, The Oregonian and Statesman Journal writes “….the Ken DeRouchie Band has developed a reputation for being one of the best live bands in the Northwest” The Ken DeRouchie Band puts on a HIGH-OCTANE, Soul, R&B and Blues fueled live show. Bring your dancing shoes and get ready for a world class live music experience. This will be the party of the year!

Search Add 2 Fagen - Williams Uniontown, Ohio 1969-70 Robert Williams was the leader of this combo. They recorded his original song "One Day Lover" at Audio Recording in 1969. Several months later, they re-recorded the song at Akron Recording, backed with another original "Don't Go Alone". The vocal harmonies are the primary difference - the first version sounds like the Beatles, while the second version draws from the Free Design. A third recording of "One Day Lover", from 1973, is credited to Midnight Sunshine.
