Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 10 The Skull School Alving Marruffo The Skull School is a musical project by Venezuelan musician and producer Alving Marruffo. The project started as a hobby in 2010 but quickly turned into a serious way of making music. The Skull School has released four albums. In 2011 Alving started S5 Records and released Noise, The Skull School's debut LP. Noise is a raw experimental album that features a very lo-fi sound and almost unfinished production, using samples from many tracks of different genres. This sample technique defined his future releases, like No Faces. Released in 2012, No Faces was Alving's second album as The Skull School. On this album, Alving experimented with vocal samples and began to pay more attention to the details, which resulted in a better produced record compared to his debut. The Skull School also made his first video, it was a self-produced video for the track "Le Contrôleur". In 2013, S5 Records merged with Eight Recordings and later that year The Skull School started to work on his third album, High Sounding Waves, which came out on March of 2014. High Sounding Waves represented a big step for The Skull School's carreer because it took his production techniques to a whole new level and improved the quality of the record, and while his other two LPs only contained songs made out of sampes and experimentation, High Sounding Waves was the first Skull School album to feature original compositions along with his signature sample work. On December of that year, The Skull School released a video for the song "Contact (The Report)" and like his first video, it was also produced by Alving Marruffo. Said video received a nomination at the Pepsi Music Awards 2015 in the category Electronic Video of the Year. On October of 2015, The Skull School published This Is The Aftermath, his fourth album, which marks a new beginning that feels like a debut to Alving. In this new album, Alving worked with original compositions on all the tracks and developed a new sound with a large presence of synths and 80s influence, that makes this release a lot more professional and conventional, music wise and production wise. This album is the first to feature guests artists and is his second album released by Eight Recordings. In 2016, The Skull School was nominated again at the Pepsi Music Awards, this time receiving three nominations: Electronic Song of the Year for his song with Maxilar Break Down "Nos Vemos Entonces", Electronic Album of the Year for his fourth album This Is The Aftermath and Electronic Artist of the Year.

Search Add 10 Neanox The project called "Neanox", was another creation of Anton Komanov, guitarist and founder of the band "Skolopendrra". Idea to record atmospheric and with beautiful music came from Anton in summer 2012. From June to October of this year have been recorded four tracks for the debut demo, called "Vacuum". Party of all instruments to him were recorded on "N.E.A studio". In the recording a demo and participated bandmate Denis Trubin after working on drums and participated in the writing of one of tracks. Music of the project is atmospheric and melancholic post-rock with elements of ambient and post-metal. Worth noting and the fact that "Neanox" may be perceived as a soundtrack to any film ever. Acoustic fingering roulades, filled with sadness, some keyboards and atmospheric, drawn-party solo guitar - music, forcing to close eyes and carry away the consciousness away... Neanox: Anton Komanov (guitar, bass, composer) Denis Trubin (drums) Date of formation: June 2012

Search Add 10 Minaxi Minaxi is an alternative band from Brooklyn with deep roots in the streets and chaos of Nallasopara, a bustling town on the outskirts of Mumbai. Formed in 2018 with a vision to create and perform music that seamlessly blends elements of rock, pop, classical, and Sufi music from the Indian subcontinent with the guitar-driven angst, beauty, and otherworldliness reminiscent of 90s alternative, shoegazing, ambient music, and their respective sub-genres, Minaxi is actively creating a unique and unprecedented sonic palette of diverse sounds and cultures. In the rhythm section, drummer Steve Carlin lays down a steady and infectious backbeat, while Thomas Herndon's basslines, deeply rooted in funk and jazz, add a compelling layer of composition and groove. Songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Liam Christian brings a touch of Midwest emo influence to Minaxi's music, while songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Shrenik Ganatra's background in Hindustani music shines through in the rich tapestry of Minaxi's sound. Minaxi has self-released two studio albums, "Khwab" (2020) and "Lazuleen" (2022), along with EPs "Zidd" (2019), "The Zia Fantasy Trilogy" (2020), and "Sialia" (2021). In a true DIY spirit, the majority of Minaxi’s music is self-recorded and produced. All visuals are conceptualized and executed by Shrenik Ganatra with the help of everyone in the band. Minaxi released their wild and culturally unique & diverse new album, "The Reverberating Sound of an Absent Metropolis," on Mar 1.

Search Add 10 Moshe Ganchoff (1904 – 1997) Known with deep respect throughout his life as “the cantor’s cantor.” His many recitative compositions seamlessly combine eastern European improvisatory tradition with subtle innovations, reflecting the theological and literary as well as the emotional implications of the prayer texts. Born in Odessa, his family settled initially in Toledo, Ohio, where, by coincidence, a number of great cantors served and where a general appreciation for [i]hazzanut[/i] prevailed. In Toledo, as a youth, Ganchoff sang in the choir of Cantor [a=Simon Zemachson], who also conducted and wrote for the choir. Also in his Toledo days, he was inspired by such celebrated guest cantors as [a=Mendel Shapiro] and [a=Cantor Aryeh Leib Rutman], who thus shaped his artistic horizons. Later, as a young man, he went to New York, there he benefited from tutorial work with Hazzan [a=Joshua Lind], and he sang in synagogue choirs directed by such respected choirmasters as [a=Leo Low (2)] and [a=Meyer Machtenberg], and with such star cantors as [a=Yossele Rosenblatt] and [a=Mordechai Hershman]. By the 1940s Ganchoff had emerged as a star cantor. Through the 1970s he served a number of the New York area’s most prestigious traditional synagogues; recorded some of his own settings as well as pieces from the classical European synagogue repertoire; and made concert tours of Europe, Central and South America, and Israel. Ganchoff taught cantorial students for many years at the [a=Hebrew Union College School Of Sacred Music Chorus], influencing entire generations of young cantors.

It is independent from the Kaleidarkness corpus, though obviously connected to it... МДМ (initialism for "Mагия Для Mасс", which means "Magic for the Masses") is the very free expression or my experience of the Slavic world through the prism of my Art. Nothing in my life predestined me to discover this particular world, be it my origins, or my preferences, and definitely not the fact of coming from a "country" which purposefully tends to reduce it to "communism"... Far from that pathetic and obviously false binary approach, my discoveries so far on the contrary led me to fascinating countries, people, and Art, who greatly inspired me, and opened new paths for my own Art...

That thin boy, two meters tall, was an artist who marked a milestone in the seventies with the hits Pa pa u mau mau and Despeinada. He belonged to the group [a5702645], along with the Fernardo Rosero, Francisco Paquico Pérez, Guillermo Vega, Vicente Marcillo and Alfredo Núñez del Arco. The group dissolved, and Parra began a solo career and was called by Ifesa, who at that time had the representation of the RCA Víctor brand. In 1971, he entered television as the presenter of 'La disco del 10' (TC), which was later called 'La Disco de Pepe Parra', in which national and international artists performed. The band formed in the fall of '97 when Mike Heerboth (guitar/rasps or vocals), T.J. Durkan (bass/vocals), and Paul Giraldi (drums/screams) got together to start playing songs that were similar to T.J. and Mike's first band, [a1305963]. The band wrote a bunch of songs and started playing shows in Feb. '98, and recorded a demo tape in June of that year. In Sept., Paul left the band to go to school, to be replaced by Bret Mcarty in Nov. (whose first show was the first Hanger 18 show) but Bret left in May '99 to play bass in Crackerjack. Paul returned from school and re-joined the band for the summer until Pat Kilbryde took over on drums. This is the point where the band wrote more rock than "I hate you" punk songs, and recorded their first full-length CD called "Age 5," which was released in Dec. '99. Shortly after, Pat put forth his resignation so he could play drums in [a3256391]. Dave Hoffa then stepped up and joined on drums, and Dan (Fatkid) Nelson joined on rhythm guitar. The band took another step in a different direction and recorded a new full-length, self-titled CD, which was released in Feb. '01 on Dan's [l95133].

Search Add 10 Kamuflars Kamuflars is a beatmaker and producer from Bergen, Norway - and a resident artist for the club nights and music label 'Jungelen'. He enjoys experimenting with electronic sounds, moving towards uptempo tracks made for the dancefloor, combining genres like House and Broken Beat. Even though, one should not categorize his music, being that it’s more about exposing an unpolished and raw vibe! Making the bridge between samples and self produced loops and soundscapes, 'the Kamu' has quite fast come up with his own distinct and playful sound. As he likes to call it: "Nordnes Funk". Together with long-time partner in crime, Jungelen-boss Simon Alejandro, they’ve released several projects on their label during the last seven years – both digitally and on limited runs of vinyl. Presenting to you Kamuflars!
