Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

At the age of 7 his mother decided, to matriculate him to the music school of Nagykanizsa, where he learnt to play the piano for 6 years. In 1998 his friend showed him a PC program called Fast Tracker II. That was the time, when he started to listen and produce electronic music (especially trance music). As the PC’s were developed, higher quality sounds, and softwares became available to use. In 2007 he sent his track (produced with his friend) to international trance labels. That was the time, when Tranzident, and the Sonar-Eclipse Recordings became interested in his music. Meanwhile he goes to the University Of West Hungary too, in Sopron. At the end of 2008 he started to produce electronical hiphop break and drum&bass music under the name D.D.F. (Dan da Funk). In 2009 Fankadeli (Ferenc Kőházy) gave him acapellas from his amazing rap songs.

Search Add 2 The Dominican Jazz Project The Dominican Jazz Project began when Dominican born jazz artist, Guillo Carias, invited American jazz pianist, Stephen Anderson, to perform with him and local players for the 2014 Jazzomania Jazz Festival in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, that was hosted by Tony Dominguez and Carlos Francisco Elías. The concert and associated clinic went beautifully, and the drummer, Guy Frómeta, invited Anderson to return to Santo Domingo to perform with him in his group for the Casa de Teatro Jazz Festival a few months later. It was there that Anderson met Sandy Gabriel, tenor saxophonist. Their collective friendship grew further with that experience, and following the festival, they agreed to record together. The result was their 2016 self titled CD release, The Dominican Jazz Project, that was recorded in the days following the UNC Summer Jazz Workshop where the artists served as guest faculty and where Anderson serves as director. The recording represented Summit Records on the ballots of the 17th Annual Latin Grammy Awards as well as on the ballots of the 59th Grammy Awards. It was listed in Ken Frackling's "2016's Best Latin/Brazilian jazz recordings," was decribed as being "full of creative energy and the joy of musical discovery" by Mark Sullivan at All About Jazz, and the band was called a "national pride" at the 2019 Dominican Republic Jazz Festival. Since 2014, the DJP has performed at numerous festivals in the Dominican Republic and has toured performing at universities and jazz clubs across the United States. What intrigued Anderson when he first visited the Dominican Republic is that while Dominican musicians are very much at home playing Afro-Cuban/clave-based music, their traditional music also has a variety of other lesser known grooves that are not commonly played in Latin jazz today outside of the Dominican Republic. And while the Dominican piano tumbao patterns sound similar to Cuban montuno patterns, they are constructed differently harmonically and rhythmically. Anderson was also surprised that these Dominican were so interested in modern American jazz, and that Sandy Gabriel’s compositions, in some ways, were very similar to the aesthetic that he had been developing in the Stephen Anderson Trio recordings in recent years. Sandy is an entirely self-taught saxophonist, having no formal training. When asked how he learned to play so well, Sandy relayed that he learned from transcribing Michael Brecker solos, responding affirmably, “He was the best.” After returning home, Anderson spent several months deeply researching Dominican music, transcribing various piano tumbao patterns, as well as other traditional grooves, like the Mangulina, Pambiche, Ga-Ga, and the Palo. Based on these and other grooves, he composed five new charts for the project, and Sandy Gabriel, Guillo Carias, and Carlos Luis contributed the other six compositions found on the recording. The Dominican Jazz Project CD, Desde Lejos, was recorded remotely during the 2020-21 pandemic with members of the band living in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and North and South Carolina. The longtime bassist for the DJP, Jeffry Eckels, passed away unexpectedly July 3, 2020 right as the band was preparing to record. The band experienced hospitalization or death of close family members during the pandemic, and the recording demonstrates how the group worked together (from "far away") daily using different home or professional studios to produce a new CD during that challenging time.

Search Add 2 The 75s The 75s were a power pop trio from St. Louis. Scott Lasser and Laurel Mydock, former bandmates in the short-lived garage band The Downcasts, established The 75s in late 2006. Mydock and Lasser practiced on their own for a couple of months, all the while searching for a female bass player who would be willing to sing backup and lead when needed. After placing several online ads, they were finally contacted via Myspace by Morgan Nusbaum, formerly of the St. Louis space/funk/punk collective Galaxy Rock Meats William. The 75s broke up very quietly in June 2010, not too long after they played their final show at the Record Bar in Kansas City. In September 2011, they were named "Best Band To Die in the Past 12 Months" by the RFT. Nusbaum formed [a3606831] with drummer [a915563] of [a2794289] shortly before The 75s split up. Mydock and Lasser went on to form Thee Have Loves with former Downcasts bandmate [a5498522] in 2012.

Search Add 2 RicHard-Tek Richard RicHard-Tek discovered the world of electronic music in the early 90's in the South of France, with the Dance/House/Techno/Trance movement, embellished with acid tones. He started to take an interest in the mix in 1995 and he acquired in the process a pair of vinyl turntables, on which he could make his first steps and strengthen his technique with a lot of diligence and personal investment. He literally fell in love with this discipline and his musical choices very quickly turned towards a more underground style, inspired by the Techno of Detroit and the Hardtechno of the time. Before the year 2000, Hardtek, Hardcore and Tribe quickly caught his ears and he got into these styles with even more passion. Loving the Oldschool and the Underground, he continues to play lots of other styles, sometimes much softer, according to his desires and his inspirations of the moment. He now plays fast-tempo livesets with mostly analog hardware devices.

Search Add 2 Ex Vegas Alternative rock band from New Brunswick N.J. Original lineup was Alex Saville (guitar), Amy Jacob (vocals), Thierry Bonnaire (guitar), Richard Sternin (drums) and George Vlahogiannis (bass) This was the lineup behind both of Ex-Vegas' singles, Thin Across/1993 and Hydrostatic/Trepid. Vlahogiannis was replaced on bass by the talented Jim Halsey. This was the lineup during the near-entirety of Ex-Vegas performing career. After Richard Sternin left the band to start a career in New York, Amy and Alex kicked out Bonnaire. This caused apparently caused a rift with Jim Halsey, who was not consulted. Halsey summarily left Ex Vegas soon thereafter. This picture shown of the band is not Ex Vegas. It is Alex and Amy and some other people, but not Bonnaire, Halsey, or Sternin. Following Sternin's departure, Bonnaire's removal, and Halsey's exit, Ex Vegas had a few different permutations, with Saville and Jacobs (now married to Saville) eventually starting Prosolar Mechanics instead of hanging on to the Ex Vegas name. Search Add 2 Spiritual Friendship In 2005 [a=Gareth Jones] was hired to mix an album by [a=Men, Women & Children], a group that [a=Nick Hook (3)] was playing keyboards in at the time. Connecting over a shared love of synths and the simple fact that they were the only two non-musicians in the room, Jones and Hook struck up a friendship. Nearly a decade after their first meeting, the two finally decided to get in the studio together, in late 2014. Guided by a simple premise—no judgement—and a whole lot of psychedelic adventuring, the pair went to work, letting their unconscious lead the way as they pieced together a complex suite of field recordings and modular synth transmissions.
