Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 The Cotton Eye Joe Show [a=Annika Ljungberg], the original female singer of [a=Rednex], returned to the group in 2004, taking charge of the group. In 2009 she and all the new members she recruited were fired by the founders and were not allowed to use the name Rednex anymore. Rednex continued with different members, and Annika renamed her group into 'The Cotton Eye Joe Show'. Annika and the Rednex founders had several court fights over the name, which eventually lead to the shortened name 'CEJ'. Initially the group consisted of Annika, her husband [a=Jens Sylsjö] and [a=Anders Lundström], but after the namechange from 'Rednex' to 'The Cotton Eye Joe Show' Anders left and was replaced by [a=Fredrik Järnberg]. Current members: Annika "Mary Joe" Ljungberg Jens "Cotton Eye Joe" Sylsjö Fredrik "Pinnball" Järnberg

Search Add 2 Gerten Gerten is an experimental synth project which has been found in Moscow, Russia, by Eugene Gin (vocal, lyrics) and Dee Grinski (synthesizers) in 2015. Later Constantine Morkovin joined them on programming drums and other electronics. All members have other projects which exist as part of «Own Cause» union. They are Manunkind, Main Unit and Dee Grinski. Gerten represents an unique blend of synth-punk, a dark liquid sound and atmospheric existential lyrics. The strong analog sound and very powerful rhythmic basis connect with reflections about the post-modern world, social unpleasant details and surrealistic fears. Trying to combine elements of art-punk and synth-punk with Russian intelligent avant-garde leads the band on the way of the best representatives of the Europe's synth-music

Search Add 2 Life Brothers life brothers 4 - life brothers music and more ... 2005 Neue Shows werden kreiert.

Search Add 2 Planet Telex Planet Telex's roots come from another band (Trevor Kohlman Band) and recording project (Loco Honey). In 2008, during the downtime in recording, guitarist/vocalist Tyson Wiebe and long-time friend/bassist/producer Quinton Viskup decided to record a few of Tyson's songs. That project eventually became Planet Telex; and their debut album, Nova. After a few false starts, Planet Telex finally found a steady line-up with the incorporation of guitarist Eric Amundsen and drummer Mickey Hayward. Planet Telex will be releasing their new EP, Wednesday, in summer of 2012. A new full length album is expected in 2013. So, essentially, a bunch of dudes made some tunes, played some shows and continued to do so. Could have saved yourself some time.

Search Add 2 Godfarts Godfarts (later renamed [a3344260]) was a punk rock band from Barcelona. Influenced by the punk rock wave of the 80s and 90s, and potentially marked by skateboarding. At the beginning of 2007, Oscar Puig (vocalist and guitar) met the brothers Sergi (guitar) and Ricard Bouffard (drums) at high school. Seeing their great love for music and sharing the same musical tastes, they immediately decided to form a band, learning to play instruments almost from scratch. In the middle of that year the band established itself under the name Godfarts. After a long search, and after playing with several bassists during the first months, they met Víctor Mañas (bass), (who at that time was the drummer of the band KTKalles) and who also shared a great love not only for music but also for skateboarding. The arrival of Víctor Mañas marks the definitive closure of the formation. In mid-2008 and at their young age they decided to record their first demo called "Restless" edited by themselves. This opens a space for them in the local Barcelona scene and leads them to give their first concerts. In 2010 they recorded their first studio album called "Messed Up Minds", released under the labels "Eating Shit Records" (SP) and "Fragment Records" (SP), where the band's first single "Downhill To Hell In" is found. A Row" of which they filmed their first video clip, referring to extreme descents on a skateboard. This album led them to their first national tours, including a Peninsular tour with the legendary North American band 7 Seconds in 2012, and their first European tour. During this period they shared the stage with bands such as Face To Face, Adolescents The Casualties, The Unseen among others. That same year the group signed with Vans Music Spain.

Search Add 2 Steve Angstrom In 1988 Steve Angstrom founded TimeShard, noted innovators in the UK electronic dance underground during the ‘second summer of love’ in 1989. They became one of the UK’s first live ‘acid house’ acts, and during this time they developed a sound which blended what we now call Psychedelic Trance and Ambient Dub. At the time they described their sound as “Shamanic Trance” a name derived from their interest in using the music, and the trance in a more directed and “magical” way than their more mainstream peers. Timeshard’s music found success UK’s free-festival circuit, which was in a period of transition and fusion as acid house fans found a place to dance without restriction, outside mainstream club culture. Steve and TimeShard built a devoted following among the mixture of punks and Acid House followers which flocked to Britain’s free festivals fields during this period. Gradually, their live show expanded outwards and across Europe, while their sound gained elements of ethno-techno, trance and dub. Timeshard also gained attention for their self-released, cassette-only albums, Who Pilots the Flying Saucers in 1991 and Hyperborean Dome Temples of Apollo the following year. In 1994, Planet Dog signed the group and released Crystal Oscillations and the trio’s second full album, Hunab Ku, appeared in 1996. Touring and performing constantly from 1989 to 2001 Steve moved away from live performance, but now is back after digging through his vaults and discovering hidden treasures, his unreleased works which were recorded in snatched moments but never released. Recovered Artefacts ’93 – 97, soon on Sleepers Records.

Search Add 2 The 75s The 75s were a power pop trio from St. Louis. Scott Lasser and Laurel Mydock, former bandmates in the short-lived garage band The Downcasts, established The 75s in late 2006. Mydock and Lasser practiced on their own for a couple of months, all the while searching for a female bass player who would be willing to sing backup and lead when needed. After placing several online ads, they were finally contacted via Myspace by Morgan Nusbaum, formerly of the St. Louis space/funk/punk collective Galaxy Rock Meats William. The 75s broke up very quietly in June 2010, not too long after they played their final show at the Record Bar in Kansas City. In September 2011, they were named "Best Band To Die in the Past 12 Months" by the RFT. Nusbaum formed [a3606831] with drummer [a915563] of [a2794289] shortly before The 75s split up. Mydock and Lasser went on to form Thee Have Loves with former Downcasts bandmate [a5498522] in 2012.

Search Add 2 The Dominican Jazz Project The Dominican Jazz Project began when Dominican born jazz artist, Guillo Carias, invited American jazz pianist, Stephen Anderson, to perform with him and local players for the 2014 Jazzomania Jazz Festival in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, that was hosted by Tony Dominguez and Carlos Francisco Elías. The concert and associated clinic went beautifully, and the drummer, Guy Frómeta, invited Anderson to return to Santo Domingo to perform with him in his group for the Casa de Teatro Jazz Festival a few months later. It was there that Anderson met Sandy Gabriel, tenor saxophonist. Their collective friendship grew further with that experience, and following the festival, they agreed to record together. The result was their 2016 self titled CD release, The Dominican Jazz Project, that was recorded in the days following the UNC Summer Jazz Workshop where the artists served as guest faculty and where Anderson serves as director. The recording represented Summit Records on the ballots of the 17th Annual Latin Grammy Awards as well as on the ballots of the 59th Grammy Awards. It was listed in Ken Frackling's "2016's Best Latin/Brazilian jazz recordings," was decribed as being "full of creative energy and the joy of musical discovery" by Mark Sullivan at All About Jazz, and the band was called a "national pride" at the 2019 Dominican Republic Jazz Festival. Since 2014, the DJP has performed at numerous festivals in the Dominican Republic and has toured performing at universities and jazz clubs across the United States. What intrigued Anderson when he first visited the Dominican Republic is that while Dominican musicians are very much at home playing Afro-Cuban/clave-based music, their traditional music also has a variety of other lesser known grooves that are not commonly played in Latin jazz today outside of the Dominican Republic. And while the Dominican piano tumbao patterns sound similar to Cuban montuno patterns, they are constructed differently harmonically and rhythmically. Anderson was also surprised that these Dominican were so interested in modern American jazz, and that Sandy Gabriel’s compositions, in some ways, were very similar to the aesthetic that he had been developing in the Stephen Anderson Trio recordings in recent years. Sandy is an entirely self-taught saxophonist, having no formal training. When asked how he learned to play so well, Sandy relayed that he learned from transcribing Michael Brecker solos, responding affirmably, “He was the best.” After returning home, Anderson spent several months deeply researching Dominican music, transcribing various piano tumbao patterns, as well as other traditional grooves, like the Mangulina, Pambiche, Ga-Ga, and the Palo. Based on these and other grooves, he composed five new charts for the project, and Sandy Gabriel, Guillo Carias, and Carlos Luis contributed the other six compositions found on the recording. The Dominican Jazz Project CD, Desde Lejos, was recorded remotely during the 2020-21 pandemic with members of the band living in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and North and South Carolina. The longtime bassist for the DJP, Jeffry Eckels, passed away unexpectedly July 3, 2020 right as the band was preparing to record. The band experienced hospitalization or death of close family members during the pandemic, and the recording demonstrates how the group worked together (from "far away") daily using different home or professional studios to produce a new CD during that challenging time.
