Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 devL ??ARE YOU FOR SURREAL?? The history of devL begins in Paris with the advent of Surrealism in 1924. Thirteen years later, in 1937, Salvador Dali-who officially joined the Surrealists in 1929-paints L'invention des Montres (the Invention Of the Monsters), two years before his official break with the movement. Fast forward to 1997, when an angular power-punk band called Tin River Junction morphs into devL with the loss of drummer Arthur King. (He left the band to pursue a career in meditation.) Guitarist Action Housecat responds to the situation by calling Artie a "dog-dick" and purchasing a used Doctor Rhythm SixSixtySix drum machine to replace the former pulse instigator turned basket case. 1998: During the groups first recording session as devL, at a place called the Space in Poughkeepsie NY, a burst of live percussion is needed on the end of the epic "Conflation" and a guy name Shaque "bursts" up from Brooklyn to lay it down, completing the first album, evldevldevldevldevldevldevldevldevld, an album otherwise pulsed by guitar, bass, Moog, machine, effects, feedback, and the constant ranting of co-producer Jacques Cohen. (Just kidding-it was me who did most of the ranting.) (Anyway, when it comes to Shaque, he was supposed to come up on the 7o'clock train, but didn't even make it up until 1am. He did two takes of the track, smoked a joint, ate a hamburger, then got back onto the train to Brooklyn, never to be seen again. As far as this writer knows, Shaque is now living in Flushing, studying eastern percussion & cuisine with the world renowned guru/cult-leader/kook Aza Raza Taza.) Some of this "history" is obviously embellished. "History is written by the winners." "History is wrong and always has to be rewritten." "History is bunk." You figure out what's what. devL's practice of darkjoy continues on the Jacques Cohen engineered Invention of Monsterts/ Deathray Sunshine double CD. PowerMad tracks like "Killer" (spy-rock meets break-beat meets Red-era King Crimson) and "IOM" (musical pyramid building in the Mayan block-temple style) are balanced-in the strict Blakean sense-with the beautiful and contemplative tracks "We Are All Miraculous" and "Bounce" (track 2-!check this one out first!). devL plans to go full circle and beyond with its next project (tentatively titled Live in Tin River Junction) and is currently seeking musicians to create a collective atmosphere, e.g., Godspeed You! Black Emperor; 70's King Crimson. Violin, vocals, piano/keyboards, drums and percussion, mettallophone (vibraphone with no motor), mellotron, mettallotron (not yet invented), stereo goathorns, theramin, bass viol, and sexaphone are desired.... But, as it is well known, the devL is a shape shifter and is always prepared to perform live in its duo or trio incarnation. From Here to Eternity, King Bass Chord

Search Add 2 Kaveh Akaber Kaveh Akaber is a Swedish/Iranian composer and film director. Already in 1994 he started the electronica band Mindacid with his childhood friend in the small town Kristinehamn, Sweden. Inspired by the early 90's British rave scene. After the split -up 1999, he went his own way and soundtrack-like narrative became a strong feature of his work. Usually his music resembles a mix of western- and middle east scales, infused with heavy trip-hop beats, psychedelic guitars, analogue synthesizers and orchestrated strings, narrated by intimate vocals. From flirting with David Bowie vibes like in the song "Love is Groovy" and Angelo Badalamenti´s soundscapes as in “Bris” that lead us in a more trip-hop Massive Attack world like in “Baham”. The genre softly alternates and each track has its own narrative. The dark atmospheric sound oscillates between a dreamy atmosphere and a sharpened state of mind, where the hidden mysticism and socially dark subjects collides.

Your joy in making music is contagious. Search Add 2 Alberto Romagnoli Alberto Romagnoli (born 4 October 1993 in Sansepolcro, Tuscany) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He released his first single Scintille in 2016. His debut EP Vinceremo ancora was released on June 20, 2016, a record full of sounds ranging from folk rock, to alternative up to 60s & 70s rock, with lyrics with strong songwriting connotations, but with the cutting immediacy of indie. Subsequently, on June 30, the music video of Scintille was released, directed by Low Party Prod. on a conceptual idea of Alberto himself. The video, with dark and dreamlike features, also made with the use of vintage films, creates a sort of inner chaos by depicting the words of the lyrics, touching on themes such as nostalgia, lack and pain. Alberto grew up listening to Bob Dylan. One of the first albums he listened to was Blonde On Blonde (1966). He also cites John Lennon, The Beatles, Tame Impala, Timber Timbre and Verdena as influences.

Nach einer ersten Zusammenarbeit entstand die erste Veröffentlichung „The Annerly EP“ mit den Titeln „Be my Baby“, „Summer in your eyes“, „Take me to your heaven“ und „Maybe Maybe Maybe“.

Search Add 2 Marskland Danish folk rock group formed in 2017 by Troels Pedersen. The lyrics are the heart of Marsklands (In English, Marshland) music, and they deal with creatures great and small and everything else between heaven and earth. The compositions are a combination of the raw nature of West Jutland and colorful, imaginary adventure. When all is mixed together, it becomes the folk band Marskland.

Search Add 2 Adolfo Doring Adolfo Doring is an award-winning American documentary filmmaker and director of music videos. Doring came to New York City in the mid-eighties to study Sociology at Columbia University, then interned for Rock and Roll photographer Joel Brodsky. Doring began his film career in middle school when he started using Super 8 film to make small documentaries as a way to avoid term papers. The combination of his photographic skills and well-developed understanding of cinematic language led him to an early career in cinematography. Adolfo was Director of Photography for the classic grunge music videos for Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Republic of Loose, Screaming Trees, Stone Temple Pilots, while also flying back east to work in the hip hop world (Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Naz, Redman). Doring's first directing job for Atlantic Records was for heavy metal group Testament. It led to direct music videos for artists including Sting, Savage Garden, Bon Jovi, Vanessa Mae, Hootie and the Blowfish, Gin Blossoms, The Dixie Chicks, Diana Krall and Del Amitri amongst others. In 1994 Doring won an MTV Video Music Award for the Hootie and the Blowfish single, "Hold My Hand", and directed the video for the band's next single, "Let Her Cry", which was that year's most played video. He was nominated by the MVPA for Best Country Video for The Dixie Chicks' "You Were Mine".

Search Add 2 Fog Lamp Fog Lamp, the avant-garde synth-punk trio hailing from Oakland, continues to carve out their niche in the local music scene with their boundary-pushing sound. Their latest album, "Anxious Stargazing," released on The Bucket Records, showcases their refusal to adhere to conventional norms. Opting for a drum machine over a traditional drummer, Fog Lamp challenges expectations at every turn. Their sophomore LP follows the success of their debut, "Conversation?," which introduced the world to their discordant arrangements and introspective lyrics. Since then, the band has gained traction within the Bay Area punk scene, playing memorable shows in unconventional spaces like vintage clothing stores, infusing their performances with a unique DIY energy. Their latest single and accompanying music video, "You Prove Yourself Wrong," is a testament to their genre-defying approach. Drawing from influences ranging from cyberpunk to darkwave to goth, the video is a visually-striking journey into surrealism. Directed by Paul Abueg-Igaz and Niki Selken, it merges live footage of Fog Lamp's intense performances with technicolor imagery, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. As Fog Lamp prepares for a Southern California mini-tour, their commitment to authenticity remains steadfast. Comprising Aaron on vocals, Leslie on synthesizers, and Adam on guitar and drum machines, the trio continues to push the boundaries of their sound, captivating audiences with their haunting and dystopian sonic landscapes. Their music, described as "packed with timeless dark synth anthems" by the White Crate Bay Area Music Blog, appeals to both seasoned goth enthusiasts and newcomers alike. With nods to influences like Big Black, Killing Joke, and Gary Numan, Fog Lamp's music resonates with those drawn to the darker side of the musical spectrum.
