Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

He was introduced to bass and other stringed instruments (cavaquinho, rajão, fretless guitar ...) before revealing the Portuguese guitar. In Lisbon, he became a student of guitarist Carlos Gonçalves, who was for many years the companion of a famous singer Amalia Rodrigues. During his studies in musicology at the University Paris 8, he gets into the middle of the traditional fado in Paris. Which gives him the opportunity to accompany the "Fado singers" that occur in France. Philippe de Sousa is now a professor at the Academy of Fado where he teaches Portuguese guitar.

Search Add 2 Medicinska Spexarcorpsen From Gothenburg, Sweden, formed in 1954 with the set of the spex Faust or The Wise Stone. Medicinarspexet is still active and is run by students in health science educations at Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. In Medicinarspexet, both women and men are on stage. The spex is played with various historical events or fictional works as a background and is performed to a live orchestra with string, wind and comp section. The singers speak and sing without electric amplification. Performance venues are usually the Stenhammarsalen, the back pocket of Gothenburg's concert hall. The script is written by a special author committee, Författeriet. The music is arranged especially for the orchestra and lyrics are written by various old singers according to the motto "to combine new lyrics with classical music so that the music feels new and the lyrics become classical". In addition to the orchestra and actors on stage (stage goers), the spex engages many more groups. Their commitments include decor (plank), clothing, makeup, sound, lighting, subtitling, tickets, contacts and peripheral arrangements. Often about fifty people are involved. Medicinarspexet has a rich exchange with the sister spexet at the Swedish-language medical education in Helsinki, the "Medicinarklubben Thorax". Each spex goes on tour to the other once a year.

Search Add 2 C-Zam Pascal Walter In the early 1990s, the first « pirate » FM radios appear in the French West Indies. “102 Graffiti” (librefm), one of Guadeloupe’s pirate stations, is where C.ZAM aka ROKKAFUNK will get started as dj/selector and programmer. He will sometimes spend more than 10 hours nonstop broadcasting his program “3R” (Rock, Reggae, Rap), where for the first time MASSIVE ATTACK’s single will be played, without even knowing it he takes part in their promotion… In the middle of the 1990s, he arrives in France. He discovers the first rave parties and the first underground clubs in town. After a while, he obtains two residences in Strasbourg, European capital. On weekends he is at the Elastic, the most famous bar club with its “Anarchic Sound System” events; and on week nights he is mixing at the BEST COFFEE SHOP. His playlist includes trip hop, dub, jungle, big beat, house music. In 1997, he organizes the first official « cyber jungle » night in one of the most famous French concert venues, « La Laiterie ». Later on, he will open for numerous big acts such as:Laurent Garnier, Roni Size, dj Krush, Saul Williams, Howie B, LTJ BUKEM, Jay-Jay Johanson, in the meantime he will also make promo nights for MOWAX, NINJA TUNE.This enables him to release his first compilation “JAM EXPORT” on his “DRUMAAX” label. He will discreetly participate in the release of the maxi (bootleg) “DAFT PUNK & OIZO/REAL 2 REAL”, which will be an enormous hit in clubs. In 1998, for the FIFA World Cup, he sets up an improvised sound system on one of the most renowned squares of the European capital (Gayot). And to conclude the millennium, he is in Paris Bercy as to opening act for “JAMIROQUAI” (oct99). In the coming years he discovers DETROIT USA, where he will briefly meet Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May during a private party of the DMEF festival in 2001. In parallel, he will produce pieces of music under various pseudonyms for the producer Jordan Fields from Chicago. Search Add 2 The Huntsman's Apology The Huntsman's Apology - so named after a poem by Irish poet John Montague - was founded in the early nineties in Rotterdam by brothers Eric and Pim Boekesteyn. Originally a four piece, featuring Fred Stekelenburg on guitar and Hans Klop on bass, their setlist was fed on an eclectic choice of covers by Nick Drake, Tim Buckley, and more obscure folksongs. Soon however, these were traded for original material, especially after the arrival of Dorine Hehemann, whose brilliant violin playing and tender voice directed the band towards a more defined style: A unique blend of rock, classical sounds, folk and underground, with a melancholy twist. Following a number of acoustic radio sessions, the band started to experiment and include electric guitars in their sound. The departure of Hans Klop sounded the bell for a whole new era, with Luc Bunt on electric bass and Holger Breek on drums. They provided the songs with an edge, where tender folk could explode in mayhem of total abandon, and often within seconds. This line-up recorded the debut album 'Snare' in 1997. Its release met with excellent Dutch press and secured them a spot on the prestigious Crossing Border Festival.

Search Add 2 The Simon Hopper Band Simon Hopper is a singer / songwriter who has been on the folk / roots scene for some time. A few years ago he ran the now defunct Bromley Acoustic Music Club and in 2006 re - emerged with his band. The four piece consists of Simon on acoustic guitar, Leigh Trowbridge on electric guitar, Andee Price electric bass and mandolin and John Fisher on drums (bigger venues and recording). Andee is classically trained and all four perform vocals. We are asked to file the music under jazz-influenced acoustic and soul-based folk rock. I thought it a sandwich of love songs and enigmatic political diatribes, pleasantly produced, nicely played and with a fairly obvious folk influence. The lyrics are contained in the accompanying booklet.
