Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 Sgt. 6 Assault Punk band from NYC, USA. Sgt. 6 Assault are the [a=The Dummies (2)] without [a=Lone Twister], relocated in New York City. Sgt 6 (aka Mark Henry) - vocals, guitar Rock Bottom (aka Dan Henry) - drums Subarton (aka Chris Subarton) - bass "The Dummies moved to NYC in 1996, shortly after recording their full length debut on Get Hip. Months later, the band decided they hated the way their ambitiously recorded album ended up being produced. They then got lean, mean, yet remained unclean, aiming for a heavier sound. Sgt 6 took over all guitar duties, while Subarton hopped over to bass. As a three piece, the band changed their name to the Sgt 6 Assault to drop the sloppy garage moniker/stigma. The band create the sound of true drug-addled, hate-inspired, precision punk rock in the form of one minute tunes... the sound that began echoing within the minds of these once-rural-now-urban transplantees. They first released a 5 song 7" EP through their own label, 007 Records; uncorked the second as a limited issue, one-sided jukebox single; then cut a tune for Philadelphia’s Carbon 14 Magazine. For their fourth release, the Assault recorded 2 cuts just prior to their collapse. Originally intended for Bag of Hammers Records, this never came to fruition; the 7" was released years later on Rapid Pulse Records".

Search Add 3 The Fireworks Factory The Fireworks Factory formed in late 1984, in Dublin Ireland. One of the forgotten bands of its time. The Fireworks Factory were formed from the ashes of Ambition in Glass, who in 1982 release a 12" single on Rough Trade Records, tracks included When Allison When & And It Rains, produced by Colin Richardson (The Chameleons). The Firework's had a broad range of influences from The Cure, The Cult, The Sisters, The Mission to Echo and The Bunnymen who many would say sounded alike. The Firework's released five Demo tapes, toured all over Europe and supported many big name bands of its time. like "The Thomson Twins.", " Everything but the Girl", "Aztec Camera", Blue in Heaven", "Light a Big Fire" to name a few. The band enjoyed much Radio Airplay in Ireland on Capital Radio and RTE's Dave Fanning show. In 1986 The band recorded a Three track Demo "Under Glass" which was produced by Paul Thomas (Engineer on U2's Boy Album) and Jacknife Lee (who now produces REM and U2). In 1987 the band nearly signed to EMI Records, but after some early recordings with EMI in London, nothing was released and no deal was signed, the band split up in early 1988 and left some wonderful music behind them, but now where back "Alive N' Kicking".

Search Add 3 The International Blues Duo The International Blues Duo was founded in 1982 on Chicago’s North Side when Gary Wiggins moved to Chicago from Detroit and Christian Rannenberg just arrived in Chicago from Germany. After a jam session at the Kingston Mines Club the two realized that together they had an interesting energy and sound. They decided to create The International Blues Duo and immediately started working the north side blues clubs such as B.L.U.E.S., Kingston Mines, Lillies, as well as performing with Lefty Dizz, Sunnyland Slim, Johnny Littlejohn, Sam Myers and many others on the Chicago blues scene. After one year of living and playing in Chicago, Gary and Chris joined the Lefty Dizz Band for a 21 day tour of the Scandinavian countries. Once they were on the European continent, they agreed to relocate to Germany, where they became an immediate sensation. From 1983 to 1990 they toured and played blues festivals, blues clubs, did radio and television shows. They recorded three LPs and invited many musicians to tour Europe with them such as Johnny Heartsman, Johnny Copeland, King George, Charlie Musselwhite, Angela Brown, Jeanny Carroll and Big Jay McNeely.

Search Add 3 Mulga Bill's Bicycle Band Mulga Bill’s Bicycle Band was perhaps the earliest, large, full time, Australian ‘folk revival’ band ("Mulga Bill's Bicycle" is a poem written in 1896 by Banjo Paterson in 1896). It began in 1970 as an offshoot of The University of Melbourne Folk Club and played first as a nine-person group in Swan Hill, Victoria in August 1970. Most members of the initial band were at that time students at the university. Over the full course of the band’s operation between 1970 and 1978, a total 20 members were at some stage part of the band. Only three original members: Tony Britz, Liz Eager and Barry Golding were there at the start and also at the end.

Javad’s unique and innovative perspective on music can be traced to his Romani roots, his studies under various tabla masters, as well as his formal conservatory education. Javad holds a Masters Degree in Music from the California Institute of the Arts. Javad has toured for over 20 years, performing as a solo artist as well as accompanying world-renowned musicians in distinguished venues domestically as well as abroad. The Los Angeles Times has called Javad “…a young, flashy, spectacular tabla player…” and the New York Times described Javad as being “…in virtuosic form…” As an educator, Javad has built successful music programs based on not only teaching the practical applications of music production using the latest technology, but also integrating music theory, which he believes broadens their knowledge of the creative process. Javad uses Ableton Live to create a blend of music that borrows from his love of both classical world music as well as contemporary sounds and techniques. As a brand manager for Ableton, Javad tours the United States giving lectures and demonstrations.

What it is like is Porcupine Tree’s Voyage 34, flowing spacey instrumental tracks where progressive rock meets electronica, with similar found vocals from an old record about LSD or something. Call it Voyage 34A, another great trip. The song titles provide clues to their inspirations. Search Add 3 Silence Betrayed Silence Betrayed was a dynamic independent rock band from southern California. Known for their heavy riffs and explosive stage presence, the foursome intermittently toured the southwestern US from 2007-2012 booking gigs with groups like Nonpoint, Soil, Kitty, 36 Crazyfists, and Straight Line Stitch. After nearly six years of writing, recording, and touring, Silence Betrayed had reached maturity. With noticeable influences ranging from Alice in Chains to Drowning Pool, their sound had been described as brutal, melodic, and memorable - all qualities that the band proudly endorsed. The music, look, and live show emitting from this band rivaled that of the era's most popular hard rock acts. Their songs were memorable, stage presence superior, and performances unforgettable.

Search Add 3 Airhead DC Vishal Narang Vishal Narang has pursued music through his entire young adulthood, but his first proper band came about after moving to New York to study art history at NYU. Through a mutual friend, Narang met Greta Kline (of Frankie Cosmos) and the two quickly decided to start playing music together after noticing their similar sense of humor and mutual enthusiasm about each other’s songwriting. After deciding on the name Milk Ghost, Narang and Kline began practicing regularly, creating Beat Happening inspired arrangements to Narang’s anecdotal songs about friends. Building on that experience, Narang started Nirvanus, a solo electronic project inspired by the many noise and house records he found through the Greenwich Village record store, Other Music, like Black Dice and Smallville Records releases. Through Nirvanus, Narang introduced himself to new equipment and recording techniques, incorporating samples, live instruments, and heavy use of effects together for the first time. After graduating college Narang decided to move across the country to Los Angeles, where Nirvanus eventually caught the attention of the budding indie label, Danger Collective Records, before returning to the East Coast and reinventing himself once again as Airhead DC.

Search Add 3 Quarter Mile Combo The first full-length cd of Californian rock’n’roll band ¼ Mile Combo was released last year. The guys started the band in 2004, but the lineup (as it is now) became complete two years later, when Nettie Hammar, the lead singer, joined the band. So three years of proper work and here they are: 12 self-penned tracks, played, arranged and recorded in very good quality. Responsible for writing songs are drummer Gary Daly and bass player Todd Jenkins. The lyrics maybe a little bit too serious for “silly” rockabilly. Musically everything is in a good balance. Not too loud, not too noisy, though nothing extraordinary either. Good backing vocals, brilliant addition to strong main female vocal. I wish that Quarter Mile Combo had at least one duet song! The style… Well, American, I guess. Blend of rock’n’roll (most of it), country (slightly) and solid rockin’ sound (psychobilly influence?). In one word - that's what lots of Americans calls “rockabilly” nowadays. “Motels, Gas and Beer”. I like when bands not just pick up the name of the song, but make their own “interpritation” of their creation… it gives extra excitement to find out “why exactly this name?”. In this case I think the band united in it not only list of the songs, but also added their name to it. Travelling, energy, drinking – in other words, rock’n’roll on the road. And, in fact, it does really sound like that! In addition (or better say, conclusion) I want to say that while I was listening to this cd, I had all the time funny feeling. Sometimes I thought “oh, it sounds good, but so boring”. And sometimes, it came like that “wow! Amazing job, I wish we could have more cd’s like that!”. So it would be very interesting to hear your opinion too! Submitted by: kitti. Publication date - 13 January 2010 Copyrights: Rockabilly Bash
