Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Myndra It is there. Born in a room filled with friends listening to three musicians playing together for the first time. Three years ago... It is now with great pleasure and pride that Myndra presents "Songs From Your Collarbone", the fruit of the collaboration between icelandic signer/writer Linus Lárpera and canadians Raziel C. - Antoine Letberg. This fruit is juicy with melancholy flavors, rich striking texts supported by the soft voice of Linus, bittersweeted by the longing notes of the violin and viola played by Raz, cooked and appetized by the sonic environments created by Antoine. It's skin is purple, intraverted. It's flesh a multicolored splash.

Search Add 2 Derek Lorin Derek is an American traditional pop artist performing old standards and his own new originals. He's a singer-songwriter, bassist, and drummer. He mixes his own “old-school” signature blend of acoustic-based pop music with a healthy sprinkling of jazz influence. You’re most likely to find him performing solo with his ukulele in fine museums, up-scale restaurants, coffee shops, and house concerts re-interpreting his older songs while offering a ever-changing stream of his newest batch of tunes. Derek loves reaching back and performing old standards from the Great American Songbook mixed with his modern, originals songs which tend to meander in that same genre and sound. He writes witty, insightful music free from over-hashed clichés. Derek presents memorable melodies, timeless songs, and thoughtfully engaging lyrics. He does this on his own, releasing his music online (and often giving it away) with no record label or administrative support. Derek is truly an independent artist. In Derek’s solo concerts, you’re going to hear Derek’s original music, a selection of over 100+ jazz standards from the Great American Songbook (as sung by Sinatra, Bennett, Cole), a collection of Beatles cover songs, and other light pop songs. If you’re fond of creative and uplifting music that fits well in an intimate atmosphere, you’ll enjoy Derek’s music and approach to performance. You can see his current performance dates here and his past dates here. He also occasionally performs accompanied by a jazz trio group of revolving musicians. Finding his voice as an artist has fuelled Derek’s writing and musical endeavours. As if being an accomplished vocalist, bassist and drummer weren’t enough, Derek Lorin is now becoming respected as an extremely prolific and profound songwriter. He has released five independent albums. Derek constantly hones his songwriting skills in the live venues and you’ll hear some vocal and lyrical improvisation, some playful tongue-in-cheek approaches to popular songs, and some outright tomfoolery. Derek Lorin has a high, clear voice which pairs nicely with his “old-school” sound and approach to music.

Search Add 2 Evoletah Matt Cahill is an Australian singer/songwriter & composer. As a graduate of the Ryzard Pusz School of Percussion he has been actively involved with bands since the early eighties, although most notably in his 13 year tenure as 'Vocalist/Guitarist' with the multi award winning Australian band 'The Violets'. Disillusioned with the traditional 'band' format, he eventually formed EVOLETAH, not so much as a band but as a 'musical project' to record songs written for The Violets that had never been recorded. Having 'Cherry Picked' members, this resulted in the projects initial offering 'Fool's Errand'.

Search Add 2 Potentially Insane Potentially Insane were a teen-trio from Clearwater, FL, active 1997~1998 when the members were 16~17. The members consisted of: Dan Byers - Bass + Vocals - currently the Good Wolf in feral sensation Wolf-Face. Dan Cano - Drums + Vocals - currently operating under the monicker Disco on Drums in bands such as Redlight Stare and Deeper Blue. Michael Goodman - Guitar - currently doing Deeper Blue. The band played 1 club gig, released a cassette, a TV show, and a party opening for Discount in which the band actually broke up the day before and guitarist's equipment malfunctioned at the start of the set, requiring the emergency borrowing of an out-of-tune guitar in which the band watched in well-deserved horror as the venue cleared out in the first song, humiliating themselves in front of their friends and heroes. 23 years the recording of their club appearance was resurrected.

Search Add 2 Rusty Chest Nashville, TN based musician, songwriter, photographer, visual artist and designer. A third-generation Nashvillian, peacefully arrived in this trying world on the chilly morning of January 19 (Capricorn, with Gemini moon and Pisces rising) during the locally famous blizzard of 1951. A calm only-childhood, largely shaped by [l=Mad Magazine] drawings, folk and British Invasion records, and the practical and esoteric wisdom of his beloved grandmother, was enjoyed beneath tall Victorian ceilings in a pre-hipster, but eternally bohemian, East Nashville. Awarded for drawing by age ten, the young artist soon expanded to create Warhol inspired collages from cardboard, torn madras shirts, and Campbell's Soup can labels (an early attempt at conceptual art involved melting an entire deluxe set of Crayolas) and at age 14, after seeing [a=The Animals] and [a=The Rolling Stones] (with [a=Brian Jones (5)]), put aside his cheap acoustic guitar, bought a new Kent Japanese electric, and proceeded to learn how to arpeggiate through the chords of "The House of the Rising Sun". Earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1974, he maintained a high grade-point average while fully engaging in the demanding folkways of the era, and later attained a Degree in Art from the wonderful, traditional minded Harris School of Art in Franklin, Tennessee. Over 15 long years were spent as a freelance artist, creating advertising, record covers, and periodicals in the traditional pre-computer manner, using triangle and drawing board, for some of the city's largest (and smallest) ad agencies. Exhibited fine art photography in several shows, including a well-received solo exhibit at The Centennial Park Art Center in Nashville. All the photographs were created in the camera - never in the darkroom nor the computer. Played guitar, banjo, and clarinet for many years with The Perfumed Garden Cafe Orchestra, gathering and arranging traditional material for folk-jazz improvisation accompanying traditional belly dance. Following 45 years of songwriting, an album of all original tunes, [r9020104], was duly released in the spring of 2015. [r12187730], a second album of original songs, was released in the summer of 2018.

Search Add 2 Rajni Perera Rajni Perera was born in Sri Lanka in 1985 and lives and works in Toronto. She explores issues of hybridity, sacrilege, irreverence, the indexical sciences, ethnography, gender, sexuality, popular culture, deities, monsters and dream worlds. All of these themes marry in a newly objectified realm of mythical symbioses. They are flattened on the medium and made to act as a personal record of impossible discoveries. In her work she seeks to open and reveal the dynamism of these icons, both scripturally existent, self-invented and externally defined. She creates a subversive aesthetic that counteracts antiquated, oppressive discourse, and acts as a restorative force through which people can move outdated, repressive modes of being towards reclaiming their power.

Search Add 2 Here Comes Jim Here Comes Jim emerged in the fall of 1993 from the ashes of singer Matt Greenhough, guitarist James McAlister and drummer Matt Brooks' former band, Potato House. Bass player Dave Kuhr had sat in with them for a gig with his then current band, Gravy Brain, after which it was decided that they would form a new group; Kuhr brought with him schoolmate / guitarist Shawn Vanderloo and the mark I lineup was established. A portion of their first proper gig, from December at the Volcano club in Kitchener, was preserved on an independently released cassette called 'KW Aggression'. An unreleased, ten track, live off the floor session was recorded and completed before Vanderloo quit in the spring of 1994. Soon after, longtime friend / roadie / camera man Craig Stanhope joined and his addition would cement the classic mark II lineup. The sound evolved as McAlister took over from Vanderloo as primary song writer and Stanhope brought in his punk sensibilities, joining the airtight rhythm section of Kuhr and Brooks, Greenhough's lyrics became even more personal and evocative. The groups primary influences, The Smiths, Dinosaur Jr, Misfits, Joy Division, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Alice In Chains, The Cure, Suede, Van Halen, Radiohead, The Auteurs, Fugazi, and Pavement, were melted down into a kind of post-punk / britpop / grunge hybrid. Over the next year and half, the unit continued to progress and gel together by way of constant rehearsal in the Greenhough family’s basement and scattered gigs across the region. Two separate recording sessions at the Helm in Kitchener yielded four songs apiece but again, these tracks went unreleased by the band. In the spring of 1996, work on a new recording began at Rivendell in Hespeler and the fruitful sessions continued until six songs were completed. In the fall of that year, HCJ self-released the cassette 'Figure 1A: Born in Captivity' which would be the only recordings of this version of the band to see any kind of release. The mk.II lineup fractured in the summer of 1997, playing their final gig at Kitchener's Mrs. Robinsons in July. Singer Matt Greenhough and guitarist Craig Stanhope would soon reboot the band with Greenhough deciding to take on second guitar duties. Brian Wilmer, a good friend of original bass player Dave Kuhr and a member of Better Daze / Too Many Jennifers, a band who had played multiple gigs with HCJ in the past, was recruited to fill the bass chair. Once drummer Chuck Furbacher was found, the mk.III lineup was complete and the group worked on completing a fresh batch of songs. In late 1998, they went into the Hi-Fi Way in Cambridge with Irv Russell resulting in the album 'Where Evil is Afraid' which was released on CD the following year through the bands own Darkstar Records. The album included two songs written by the mk.II lineup, 'She Is', which was recorded at their last studio session but never released, and 'God Take a Bow', the first time this song had been professionally recorded. The band broke up for the final time when Wilmer decided to move to Montreal in the fall of 2000. It was ensured that there would never be a full reunion of any version when James McAlister passed away on September 5th, 2012, followed by Brian Wilmer on April 6th, 2020. Members: Matt Greenhough: Vocals - 1993-1997, Vocals / Guitars - 1997-2000 James McAlister: Guitars - 1993-1997 Shawn Vanderloo: Guitars - 1993-1994 Craig Stanhope: Guitars - 1994-2000 Dave Kuhr: Bass - 1993-1997 Brian Wilmer: Bass - 1998-2000 Matt Brooks: Drums - 1993-1997 Chuck Furbacher: Drums - 1998-2000
