Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 3 The Mothers Earth Experiment Born out of the summer of 2015, The Mothers Earth Experiment are a six-piece contemporary progressive outfit from Birmingham, UK. With a wide array of influences ranging from electronica, jazz, world music and psychedelia all the way to black metal and back. They are focussed on the external problems of government, our planet, technology and bureaucracy. Weaving a sonic tapestry of social consciousness and societal incompetence, tackling themes of 21st century injustice. The band of childhood friends pride themselves on their eclectic inspirations to weave detailed sonic tapestries of dense psychedelic atmospheres and emotive melodies in order to propel their message of social consciousness. “The band fuses together such a variety of genres that it is both old and fresh simultaneously.”

Search Add 3 Werbeniuk Werbeniuk are a band from Teesside in the North-East of England. Not easily pigeon-holed, their "Teesside World Music" combines percussion, electronics and catchy vocals with a political conscience and a strong sense of fun. Formed in March 2010, as a three-piece comprising [a1457477], [a1471096] and [a3876883], the line-up soon expanded when [a1471095] and [a3876884] joined. Gigging regularly since June 2011, the band released their first CD [r=5802778] in December 2012. Simon left the band to pursue other interests in the summer of 2013, so Martin Cass stepped in, and they carried on regardless. Martin quit in April 2016, and Tim Oxnard joined in the following October. The band are a well-established part of the Teesside music scene. Their instrument-swapping and the general on-stage chaos has arguably made them the region's premier Health & Safety risk, but certainly one of the best and most original live acts around. Michael, Tim, Gary, Jimmy and Andy (in no particular order) all sing and play (in no particular order): guitar, bass guitar, melodica, percussion, sampler, synthesizer, walkingstick bass, linen-basket drums, electronic drums. Simon and Martin used to do the same.

Search Add 3 Sleep After Dreams "Sleep After Dreams" is a musical project that seeks to articulate very specific emotions through unique, versatile and curious compositions to create a singular, surreal, mysteriously dark but exciting aesthetic. It bases its foundations on a wide variety of musical references from diverse styles, such as Metal, Electronic, Ambient, Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, etc., which converge in a cinematic way in Shoegaze/Dream-Pop. This genre is the one that "Sleep After Dreams" shows in its discography, along with dreamlike and gothic elements, making analogies of experiences of youth, such as love, confusion, sadness and hope.

Search Add 3 Ben Iota Having been an active member of the Adelaide Hip Hop community for over a decade, emcee and producer [a3389344] (AKA Bornski of Hip Hop groups Adroit Effusive and Common Cause) is back. After taking a hiatus from Hip Hop to concentrate on studies, travel and to live in remote Indonesia, a new artist with a fresh and somewhat unique perspective to Australian Hip Hop has emerged. Ben now approaches music as a writer, with fewer attachments to the scene, and a perspective that more often that not looks outside of the suburb, state and country that he lives in, posing some big questions. This is socio-political music from a lived perspective, underpinned by inquiry and the need to explore. In 2012 Ben Iota the emcee teamed up with friend and musical comrade Matchless Gift on production to write, record and produce a series of songs in a time of inspired energy. Having freshly finished his studies as a mature-aged student, and with an overseas move on the horizon, the songs just fell out. 2013 sees the release of this collaboration - “Born Free”.

Search Add 3 oFFice chAIRs oFFice chAIRs (spelled like that just because) is a side-side project of Moe Staiano (from Surplus 1980/Sleepytime Gorilla Museum) with his partner, Karen Cravotto, making a mighty vocal debut, who released one 4-track 7" of synth wave music inspired by early 1980's acts. The project came about when Karen kept spotting discarded office chairs on residential and urban street curbs and kept joking that "Office Chairs will be our band! When do we start playing?" When Moe saw a photo of an office chair thrown down a stairwell by musician Steve Silverstein, he decided, "That's a great image for an album cover!" Thus, he bought a microKORG and went to work much to Karen's surprise and amusement (or bemusement for that matter).

Search Add 3 Tiny Fires Founded in Maine in late 2008, Tiny Fires is comprised of Guy Capecelatro III, Dylan Metrano (Tiger Saw), and Jeremy and Jerusha Robinson (South China / Brown Bird). Shimmery guitars, primal drumming, tap-dancing, and distorted calliope keyboards curiously blend underneath entrancing four-part harmonies, creating a brand new unique sound that is a bold beginning for the band. The group was originally called Paper Birds, and toured with the band Castanets in November 2008, and performed in a set they designed, including multi-tiered backdrops and hanging bird-printed book covers. They transformed the stage of each venue into their own little world, and let the stories in their songs unfold in a theater of their making. In 2009, they played shows with friends Phosphorescent, Jason Anderson, and Viking Moses. In April 2009, to avoid confusion with a similarly named band, they changed their name to Tiny Fires.

Search Add 3 Tyler Famularo Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. Active starting from the early 1970's. Member of [a=The Balloons (3)], Sky Harbor Band, The Bandits, Tykes, [a=Larry Lynne Group], his son's group, the Brandon James Band, Rebecca and the Grey Notes, Brennan Totten Band, Smooth Blues, and The Andy Gelles Trio. Tyler began playing guitar at age 11, by the time he was 14 he had his first real guitar and amp. It was a 1965 Telecaster and 65 Deluxe Reverb. His oldest brother Tom, who was in the Air Force at the time, sent the money home for it. But, he really got serious when he was practicing with a drummer. The drummer’s father came home from work and said “Pack up the gear”. He took them us to his favorite bar, they played about two hours and made about $40 in tips. He was hooked! His first band was the Tykes which morphed into The Larry Lynne Group. Brandon who is his son had recorded some of the songs Tyler had written. RCA Nashville heard them, became interested and flew them both down to Nashville. The Brandon James Band continued for about 7-8 years and got away from country and more into southern and classic rock. Tyler performs regularly with daughter Rebecca Famularo of Rebecca and the Grey Notes

Search Add 3 Blind Identity Blind Identity was a cutting-edge band rising from the depths of the Rochester N.Y. music scene. The band's unique style can be attributed to it's many musical influences including jazz, hardcore and modern progressive. Given all the monotony and lack of originality in music in recent years, Blind Identity offers a different spin to the heavier music genre. With gut-wrenching guitars, percussive bass lines, tight refined drums and emotional lyrics that make you think, Blind Identity has a lot to offer for this genre. Putting aside the shallow and superficial currents of popular music, Blind Identity provides more thought-provoking lyrics and song structures to give listeners a more dynamic view of the music.

Search Add 3 As The Palaces Burn As The Palaces Burn Brazilian heavy metal band "As The Palaces Burn" is known for its well-balanced mix of aggression and technique, with influences ranging from traditional Heavy Metal to Thrash Metal, also with hints of Progressive and Modern Metal. Founded in 2018, the band released their debut album "End'evour" in 2019, followed by the release of the EP "All the Evil" in 2020, which included a tribute to Savatage, covering the song "Hall of the Mountain King”; this period was marked by the beginning of the recognition of the specialized media, leading As The Palaces Burn to be nominated for Roadie Crew magazine's Best of the Year awards in 2019 and 2020. The single "For the Weak" was released in 2021 and had a lyric video published exclusively by the Brazilian magazine Roadie Crew. This song dictates the pace of what would come for the next full-length album. In the meantime, the EP "Offer To The Gods" was released (2022), paying tribute to three most famous Brazilian metal bands: Angra (with “Streets Of Tomorrow”), DR. SIN (with “Fire”), and Sepultura (with “Mass Hypnosis”). After the great reception of "For The Weak", the new single "Into Emotions" was released, accompanied by an impressive video clip, being the foreshadowing of the release of the full album 'Drowning Into Shadows', produced by Adair Daufembach, which will be released in autumn 2023. All the music are available on all digital platforms.

Search Add 3 Carnival Crash Carnival Crash was a relatively short-lived band whose members scattered into a veritable Who’s Who of New York post-punk bands: Swans, Live Skull, Ritual Tension, Chavez and others. Their legacy of recordings, compiled on “It Is A Happy Man” (Obelisk Records), stands the test of time. Born out of the late-'70s punk scene, the band emerged during the vibrant early-'80s New York City post-punk movement. John Griffin brought the Brooklyn streets, heavily steeped in doo-wop and rock’n’roll but with Captain Beefheart and Rimbaud in the mix. Norman Westberg came from Detroit, and brought that sensibility and an eagerness to plunge in. Ivan Nahem was the drummer in late-70s San Francisco punk band The Situations. All the players had been on board with the first wave of punk, but were now searching beyond that for something different in New York City, which, by 1980, was turning in a new direction. Without trying too hard to be earnest, and not lacking a sense of humor, the newly formed band had a certain darkness and intensity that fit the member’s new geography perfectly. Carnival Crash’s music isn’t anti-rock or Noise; there is melody and dramatic dynamics in the instruments and voices. Important influences, besides Beefheart, were Alice Cooper, Joy Division, The Birthday Party, Wire, Bush Tetras and The Contortions. The seeds of Carnival Crash were planted on the west coast. Ivan and his brother Andrew Nahem, along with Tom Paine and Mark C., had formed the band Crop while in California. Ivan, Tom and Mark then migrated to New York City in 1980, and soon began auditioning guitar players. But there were disagreements over direction, and Ivan eventually left the band, which later became Live Skull. He went on to form Carnival Crash with John Griffin, and recruited guitarist Norman Westberg, whom he had met at a Crop audition. With Norman in the band, they began gigging as a trio around their East Village home base. They performed at loft parties and the seminal noise rock/second generation punk venue A7, as well as more established and now legendary clubs, like CBGBs and Tramps. John and Ivan were both writing lyrics and singing, but were looking actively for a lead singer. When auditions didn’t turn up anyone, Ivan got up from behind the drums and became the band’s front man. Future Live Skull alumnus James Lo was brought in to take his place. In the short history of the band, there were two recording sessions. Still in trio formation, the first was in 1981 at George Kaufman’s loft rehearsal studio, employing his TEAC 4-track recorder. Ivan and John shared vocal duties. In 1982, when the band was a four piece, they went into Noise NY to record more tracks. Unfortunately, during these sessions the band split up. Ivan decided to release two of the tracks as a single (Edge of Night b/w Tell Tale Heart), which was critically lauded at the time. He used the moniker Ivan X. Norman Westberg went on to join Swans, which would become his home for many decades. These days he’s performing and recording solo. His work has been well-received and has a strong following. Ivan and his brother Andrew (who, incidentally, are the sons of major league baseball pitcher Sam Nahem) formed Ritual Tension with Michael Shockley and Marc Sloan. They persisted through the Eighties and into the early 1990s, releasing four records: I Live Here LP / Hotel California EP (Sacrifice/ILA), Blood of the Kid (CBGB/Celluloid), and Expelled (Safe House). Ritual Tension has recently re-formed. They are playing out and just recorded a new album at Mark C’s Deepsea Studio in Hoboken. The new album, called “It’s Just The Apocalypse, It’s Not The End”, will be released this Fall on Arguably Records. John Griffin continued producing work as a painter and musician; his most recent efforts can be accessed here: https://thegriffinmorrisseycatastrophe.bandcamp.com/track/crow . His goat Moondog was chosen as 2018’s WFMU mascot. Besides Live Skull, James Lo has played in the acclaimed band Chavez.
