Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 29/07/2025

Found 602638 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 6 Beatocello Beat Richner Dr. med. Beat Richner (1947-2018) was a Swiss pediatrician and cellist. As both a cellist and a medical doctor, Richner was known by patients, audiences, and donors as "Beatocello". Richner studied with the cellists Julius Bächi, Enrico Mainardi and Siegfried Palm, created his own cabaret program as the musical clown "Beatocello", performed full-length programs in Zurich and elsewhere, but then decided to study medicine. He specialized in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital in Zurich. In 1974/1975, the Swiss Red Cross sent him to the Kantha Bopha Children's Hospital in Phnom Penh (Cambodia). When the Khmer Rouge took power, Richner was able to leave the country in 1975; nine out of ten of his colleagues at the time were killed in the Killing Fields. He resumed his work at the Children's Hospital in Zurich and opened his own pediatric practice in Zurich in 1980. In addition, he performed as the musical clown "Beatocello" for children in hospitals and theaters and published children's books with his stories, which he illustrated himself. When Cambodia became accessible to foreigners again, Richner traveled to Phnom Penh and was commissioned by the King Norodom Sihanouk and the Ministry of Health to rebuild Kantha Bopha. Dr. med. Beat Richner founded the first Kantha Bopha children's hospital in 1992. In the following 25 years he opened four more hospitals in Cambodia. During the 25 years of his work, his hospitals treated 15.4 million outpatients and 1.7 million seriously ill children as inpatients.

Tat spent six years on the pirate airwaves in Sheffield including the legendary Fantasy FM, which famously had listeners in the tens of thousands around South Yorkshire alone. There was also a few years residency on the seminal SCR radio station, with his saturday night house show, crammed in amongst a schedule of reggae and soul. Tat ran several nights in Sheffield and Chesterfield before hanging up his headphones in 2002, only to make the rare dj mix and track. He also played up and down the UK from Belfast to regular stints in the Big Smoke; playing at famous nights such as Creamfields, The Bomb, Hard Times, and the Soundshaft to name but a very few. Tat was the hip hop and house resident alongside Chris Bibby at the original Skool Disco in Sheffield, as well as a occassional player at the seminal NY Sushi, and Deconstructed nights (see Deconstructed #16).

Search Add 6 The Snorks Snorks was a children's animated television series created by Belgian cartoonist [a=Nicolas Broca] (1932—1993), with four seasons and 65 episodes aired in the United States on the NBC network and in syndication between September 1984 and March 1989. A commercial failure in American broadcast, the show performed significantly better in the international distribution, gaining a limited "cult following" years later. Between 2012 and 2016, Warner Archive released all four seasons on DVD, and the show was partially available on the [l=Hulu] streaming platform. Intricately connected to an acclaimed Smurfs cartoon series launched in 1981, the "Snorks" ran concurrently on the same television network for five years. Freddy Monnickendam (b. 1954), the creator of both shows, first joined prolific Belgian comic publisher [l=Dupuis] in 1977, where he soon negotiated a licensing deal for the company's flagship series, renowned [a=Peyo]'s graphic novel "Smurfs," for [m=241756] album by French singer [a=Pierre Kartner] on [l=Decca]/[l=Polydor]. Freddy then got promoted to the head of the SEPP International division responsible for the "Smurfs" merchandising. He established a fruitful partnership with [l=Hanna-Barbera Productions] and [l=3M France], launching an eponymous children's animated TV series for National Broadcasting Company, one of the "Big Three" American networks, in September 1981. Even though Smurfs was an instant smashing hit and one of NBC's primetime offerings for the children's audience, [a=Peyo] and Freddy constantly clashed over creative differences, royalties distribution, and every possible contract clause during lengthy negotiations, culminating in Peyo's lawsuit against Monnickendam shortly after the show's premiere. Thus, the Snorks originated as a direct competitor to "Smurfs," devised by Monnickendam as a payback to Peyo; Freddy was confident he could easily repeat the same "recipe for success" by sourcing another comic series in Europe with a more agreeable author and licensing it to NBC via [l=Hanna Barbera]. In early 1982, he found just the right match — Snorks, a new comic book self-published by Belgian cartoonist Nic Broca and portraying "snorks" — brightly-colored anthropomorphic sea creatures. Fundamentally similar to "Smurfs," the aspiring publication differed enough to attract the same audience while avoiding plagiarism accusations. Broca agreed to sell television rights to SEPP, and Freddy immediately began working on a pilot episode for NBC with [a=William Hanna & Joseph Barbera]. The Snorks premiered on NBC on Saturday, 15th September 1984 — the same day as the fourth season of "Smurfs" — featuring a prolific cast of voiceover actors: [a=Michael Bell], [a=Brian Cummings (6)], [a=B.J. Ward], [a=Nancy Cartwright], [a=Barry Gordon], [a=Rob Paulsen], and [a=Frank Welker]. Despite all promotional efforts, the Snorks never gained audience ratings and commercial profits even remotely comparable to "Smurfs," discontinued in March 1989 after four seasons. The show's declining ratings cost Monnickendam his showrunner contract with [l=Hanna Barbera] (his former partners co-produced the final two seasons of "Smurfs" with Lafig S.A. instead) and ultimately led to SEPP's dissolution.

Search Add 6 Franco Verini Italian pop singer born in Città Di Castello, Perugia, in 1957, he made his debut in his hometown while still a child at the "Ugoletta d’Oro" festival, with the participation of the RCA Orchestra. He played in bands in the Alta Valtiberina area: first the Siros, then the Vibrocementi where he stayed for several years and with which he performed in many clubs in Central Italy. The meeting with Ivan Graziani, at the end of the 1970s, made him realize he was creating his own identity, trying not to imitate other more famous singers. Collaborating with his friend Lanfranco Perini, he then began to write songs. On the occasion of a concert by Francesco De Gregori in Città di Castello, he met the Roman songwriter and proposed him a tape with his own songs. The tape reached Vincenzo Micocci who soon called him to Rome to record the first 7": "Stella". It was 1984. In the following years Franco Verini alternated his own recording activity with production activities with the compilation "Il Vecchio vestito di Nuovo" for the Globo label. At the end of the 1980s, with Marcello Marini, he set up a show called "Canzoni Italiane", with a history of the Italian song during the 1900s, toured in Argentina and in many European countries. He's still active today.

His father, and the twin brother of his father, were also musicians in the 60ties & 70ties. Dirk was for example growing up in the "Guru Guru Haus" very deep in the Odenwald (Odin Woods) near Heidelberg for some years, getting in contact with all kind of instruments, crazy freaks, krautrock & thick air from a lot of smoke ! At one gig of the band Guru Guru, he was even Elektrolurch ! Maybe you know what Elektrolurch is. He fell to the ground because of a cable, and people had fun, but this is another story... Nowadays he is putting out music under the pseudonyms Amp-err, Pndk12770 & Van Kraut. He is releasing his music on his own label Aggregat Records with the sublabel Jedentag Musik. The music is more or less to put in the Electronic Genre (Electro, House, Techno, Minimal, TripHop, New Wave, etc.).

Search Add 6 Briget Boyle Briget Boyle Briget Boyle's songs are compelling reminders that healing and redemption are coming. With gritty, vulnerable lyrics, pristine vocals, and driving playing on her antique Gibson J45, Briget’s 90s rock-tinged songs center the truth-telling power of the human voice. Sincerity is magnetic and Briget's songs often inspire listeners to put pen to paper, clear their throats, and dust off their old guitars. What will happen when you listen? Briget’s songwriting awakens the act of witnessing. She goes deep to mine for truth and what comes out is a powerful vocal expression that is magnetic. Her sound comes from an authentic way of living and is driven by deep connections that she has forged along her diverse path of music making. She views music as the mortar of human experience that ties us together in ways that nothing else can. Earthy and grounded in connection to spirit, Briget possesses an ability to leverage life’s challenges and make music that navigates them with grace. She creates as a means of integration of her lived experiences. Briget's wisdom is not only to learn from past experiences by facing them, but also to embrace the suffering that inevitably leads to more complete insights. Briget was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA where she got an early start in music. As the child of two music industry veterans, she always knew that being a musician was not just a calling, but part of her DNA. Her first professional experience was working in Hollywood's film scoring studios alongside her legendary recording engineer father, the late Tim Boyle. She served as his second engineer for Starship Troopers, Animaniacs, Money Talks and more. She began writing songs right when she was 12 years old and attended the College of Santa Fe to study Music Performance & Composition. It was here that her musical journey took an unexpected turn. She discovered the rich traditional folk music of the Balkans and quickly became a student of the voice and of traditional singing styles. This study led her to many years of performing with Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble, Brass Menažeri Balkan Brass Band, and True Life Trio. Briget recognizes the responsibility and opportunities that accompany multi-hyphenate creative life. She is always full of ideas and the sheer audacity to pursue them. Briget founded an independent record label, Waxsimile Productions and queer musician collective, built a successful vocal coaching practice, and has been a key member of various Bay Area world music ensembles. Her musical and professional perspective is unique and it is echoed in her songs. Her new album, Heartbreak Residue is now available.
