Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Hermit Kingdom | This album is made up of harsh noise/industrial/ambient tracks that were originally composed and recorded between 2001-2003. These tracks were recently unearthed by B. Wood (also known by his flagship moniker Monggrel) and transferred from Mini disc to PC with very little sound adjustment. During the early 2000's Wood recorded under the moniker "Anatomy of a Scene", which, to this day, he associates with failure and dissatisfaction. Almost 20 years later, he decided to change the recording name to Hermit Kingdom, not only to shed the yolk of the past, but to imply the closed off nature of the tracks, and early 2000's harsh noise in general. The main purpose of this album is to give these tracks that only recently saw the light of day, a new lease on life. May they be the source of much aural pleasure and pain.

Search | Add | 2 | Lucy Ishkhanian | Lucy Ishkanian Tankian | Internationally recognized pianist who performed in the major concert halls around the world to great acclaim, died in a hospital in New York City on April 20. She was 80. Her nine tours from 1962 to 1979 throughout the former Soviet Union was part of the "Special Prize" award she received from the jury of the Second International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She also was sent on tour by the US Department of State Cultural Program and performed throughout the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, Argentina, and the United States under the management of impresario Sol Hurok. In 1971, she was presented by Hurok at her debut at Philharmonic Hall (now Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center.) A native New Yorker of Armenian descent, she gave her first recital at age seven, two years after becoming the youngest student ever accepted to the Juilliard School Preparatory Division. She continued her education there as a scholarship winner for 15 years, and graduated with both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She also completed requirements for a PH.D degree at Columbia University. Among her teachers were Beveridge Webster and Rosina Lhevinne. She also coached with some of the greatest musicians, including pianists Mieczeslaw Horszowski, Yakov Fliere, Emil Gilels, and composer Aram Khachaturian who entrusted her with the American premiere of his Piano Sonata. Among her greatest achievements was the foundation of the Juilliard-Komitas friendship program in 1992, enabling gifted students from the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan, Armenia to be admitted to The Juilliard School in New York to continue their musical education. Ms. Ishkanian was an honorary professor at the Komitas Conservatory, and served as president of the jury for the graduation examinations. Ms. Ishkanian also was a distinguished member of international piano competition juries around the world, including the First International Aram Khachaturian Piano Competition in Yerevan in 1997, the First International Rachmaninoff Piano Competition in Los Angeles, CA in 2002, as well as the Dorothy MacKenzie Artist Recognition Awards at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City. Ms. Ishkanian is survived by her husband, Hagop Tankian. A brother, Vahe, predeceased her. There will be a 40th day requiem service on Sunday at the St. Illuminator's Armenian Apostolic Cathedral, located at 221 East 27th Street in New York City, starting at 11:30am, after which there will be a musical tribute and a reception. Donations in her memory may be made to the Armenian Scholarship Fund at The Juilliard School. Published in The New York Times on May 30, 2014 |

Pucho was around fifteen years old when he was offered a record deal with small-time label Junior (a record label for teenage artists). Pucho enjoyed unexpected runaway success during 1964 with twist single "Buenos Y Malos" and was offered a better deal at Microfon label, but his carreer was short-lived. He also appeared in television show "Escala Musical" and in Microfon's LP compilation, "Una ventana al Éxito" during late 1964. By late 1965 he was completely off the music industry. At the time, there is not any information about his whereabouts.

Search | Add | 2 | Preisthood | Priesthood now consists of J-Raw, Mr. Swift and Chico Breeze. The group was founded in 1994 by J-Raw (junior Moaalii) and Papa Semm (Semi Tafao). The two came from different gospel rap groups. J-Raw was with a group called "Prophets of Peace" and Papa Semm was with "Next of Kin". In 1996 Mr. Swift was added to the line up. Name But the crew had been together playing shows, without a name, until Papa Semm presented, "Priesthood". This he saw in the Bible in Hebrews 7:24, "Because Jesus lives forever, we are a permanent Priesthood". Papa Semm left after the recording of "Turn up your radio" in 2002. He went to help his mother to run their church. Metro One Music Priesthood released an independent tape in late 1997 and was soon there after signed to Metro 1 Music, January 15,1999. Their debut "Sprinkle Me Luv", was released in stores, July 20th, 1999. The music is a mix of hip hop and R&B, which blends into a very soulful sound. Crew J-Raw or Junior Moaalii as he is known by friends and family was born in California, but was raised in American Samoa, an island within the South Pacific. He returned back to California in 1988. His parents were divorced and he finally ended in Lynwood where he stayed with his uncle and his family, who were devout followers of the Lord. J-Raw grew up listening to different styles of music in which later developed into a passion to write. He first started out in a group called "Prophet's Of Peace", who released a couple of independent CD's and he was also involved with a group from Compton, who had a group called "Village Crew Production". Then J-Raw decided to use his talents for God and founded Priesthood. Identity Mr. Swift (Kirk Douglas) was raised in a christian home, still he was searching for his identity. He didn't like the person, who he was. At a young age he accepted he needed Jesus in his life. He says about that time "So, I asked Jesus into my life personally and from the age of 15 he's never left me". Foundation Adam Maaele is Chici Breeze, who was born and raised in Carson, California. Adam was heavily involved in gangs, but had his grandparents and other people praying for him. This laid the foundation for the change in the lifestyle he was leading. In the year 1994 he accepted God. Now he's married and has four daughters.

Search | Add | 2 | Captain Yabaa | Azongo Nyaaba | Captain Yaba was the professional name of Azongo Nyaaba, who was born and raised in the dry grasslands of the far north of Ghana. He was four or five years old when he started playing the koliko (also known as the molo), an ancestor of the banjo. [a437657] of the internationally famous band [a101784] brought Nyaaba to the Ghanaian capital, Accra, and there he began performing with various groups and as a soloist under the name Captain Yaba. In 1994 he recorded his second album of traditional Fra Fra songs, this one with a modern funk band called Ninkribi, and that raised sufficient interest abroad for Captain Yaba & Ninkribi to tour Europe. After returning to Ghana, Captain Yaba continued to perform on his own and in groups, but in 2001 he died of tuberculosis at barely past the age of 30. Two years later [l132130] reissued the Captain Yaba-Ninkribi album, duplicating five of the tracks in their rough and even funkier mixes. Sleeve notes on "Yaba Funk Roots" CD album/compilation by: John Collins In his short musical career Captain Yaba captivated listeners with his two-string gourd guitar grooves, and especially with the track Yaba Funk. He makes his instrument, the koliko (aka molo or xalam) sound like the root of all funk. Captain Yaba was a Fra Fra from the northern Ghana town of Bolgatanga where the country and the culture have more in common with Sahelian neighbours than the central and coastal regions where highlife rules. Yaba Funk Roots is a reissue of his 1996 album Tinanure, produced by [a320022], the celebrated Sierra Leonean percussionist. Unfortunately Yaba died soon after that CD’s release. This [l132130] reissue has been augmented with five tracks from the original Ghana sessions, which retain the vital edge of griot funk at which Yaba excelled. Call them premix, call them de-mix, these tracks bring added delight to a type of African music which is rarely heard in the West. |

Search | Add | 2 | Staffordshire Band | The Staffordshire Band can trace its roots back to before the turn of the last century, when it was known as the Walsall Wood Institute Temperance Band. In the 1920's the band fell on hard times and became bankrupt, but out of the ashes the Aldridge Colliery Silver Prize Band was formed and rehearsed in a large garage in Brookland Road, Aldridge. Their first radio broadcast was on the BBC in the 1930's. During the Second World War, the band joined with the Bloxwich British Legion and Bescot Bands to become the Walsall Home Guard Band. In 1954 the band was renamed the Aldridge Town Band and, with the help of a Councellor Owen, were promised uniforms and instruments. Success followed in 1956 when the band was placed 5th at the National Brass Band Championships held at the Royal Albert Hall, Nottingham (the records do not make clear in which Section the band played). A month later, due to economic circumstances, the Council withdrew its promise to provide uniforms and instruments, however in 1957 events change again and the Council are able to present new instruments at a concert at the BRD.
