Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024

Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 6 Pandit Yeshwantrai Purohit Yeshwantrai Purohit Yeshwantrai Purohit (1916-1964) About Yeshwantrai Purohit From: https://www.sudeepaudio.com/artistes/ypurohit.htm “Late Pandit Yeshwantrai Purohit was one of the foremost exponents of the ‘Kirana Gharana’. Born in Bhavnagar on 27th December 1916, he had his early training in music from the Late Pt. Shankarrao Vyas, Pt. Narayan Moreshwar Khare and Late Pandit Omkarnath Thakur of Gwalior Gharana. Later, being attracted by the Kirana style of Khansaheb Abdul Karim Khan, he became a devout disciple of Pandit Balkrishnabua Kapileshwari, a direct disciple of the Late Khansaheb Abdul Karim Khan. Possessing a rich sonorous voice with tremendous depth of feeling and understanding of the Ragas, his devotion and dedication and his purity of style in the development of the Raga, he participated in many a concerts and attained fame all over India. Unfortunately, he died at the young age of 47 years on 3rd January 1964, leaving a void in the music world. Some of his famous disciples are Pandit Vinayak Vora (Vocal and Taar-Shehnai), Arun Sewak and Dakshesh Dhruv. Padma Vibhushan Pandit Ravi Shankar, the world- renowned exponent of Indian Classical Music, has honoured Yeshwantrai by describing him as a great Sadhak.”

Search Add 6 Sheki-Dol シェキドル Sheki-Dol was a Japanese pop group, active from 2000 to 2002. At the time, all Hello! project acts belonged to UP-FRONT Promotion, but Sheki-Dol belonged to Green Park Music (グリーンパーク・ミュージック). (Now called Espro (エスプロ)).They got their name from the combination of the words Akamichi Doll (赤道ドール; Equator Doll) and the phrase "Shake It", meaning girls with a hot image. The group started out as a duo with Ami Kitagami and Ibuki Ooki. They had participated in the 4th Morning Musume & Heike Michiyo Protegee Auditions (the same auditions that Matsuura Aya eventually won). They had their own radio show and performed their debut single at a Hello! project concert months before it was released as a single. They were also frequently featured in music magazines and fashion shoots. They were rumored to be "idol with contacts" as well as being rude to their fan base, resulting in fewer and fewer fans. They held a disastrous live performance where only 15 people attended. Mami Suenaga was added for the release of their second single, with Ibuki leaving shortly after (to start a modeling career under the name EVEKI) only to be replaced by Ari Sakai. They released their fourth and final single in December 2001 before disbanding in early 2002. The official reason was that one of its members needed medical attention. It was speculated, but not confirmed that Suenaga was pregnant. She later talked about this, saying she had a nervous break-down anfd anxiety attacks.

Search Add 6 DJ Cam-One Cameron Bolling DJ Cam_One of Mystery Sound Recordings, Beat.Clause.It_Studios and Linden Tree Mastering. I am DJ Cam_One born Cameron Bolling and have been into music since an early age. I started singing in chorus and playing trumpet in elementary school and continued throughout middle school. At the age of 13 I started making mixtapes for friends using two cassette tape recorders. During this time my sister Rachel was dating DC radio and club Hip-Hop extraordinaire DJ Iran. Since then my life was never the same. In 1995, two years later I bought my first turntable from a pawnshop and paid with change. For the next three years I would practice my scratching, mixing and mixtapes skills. In 1998, I joined a Funk band called Bakufu using my turntables as added percussion to the group. Bakufu disbanded a few months later and I joined a DJ collective called Samsara Camp. This collective comprised of old and new friends from high school. Most of them had no experience with DJing and turntables, so I would teach them techniques that were learned and passed down to me. While with Samsara Camp I started playing Hip Hop at house parties and small venues throughout Maryland and Washington DC. Having the opportunity to open up for other locals at small venues was the stepping stone I needed to advance in my DJ career. After that I started giving private DJ lessons to friends and spoke with them about personal DJing experiences I had to help them with their DJ careers. That is just as important as technique. A short while later I joined another collective called Mantis Sound System and this is where my skills were honed and was able the play out more often. In 2001 I was contacted to play and teach Hip Hop DJing at Towson Universities Hip Hop week were I met an enormous amount of people and exhausted my resources. A few years later I found myself spinning regularly in Washington DC and Baltimore. While in Baltimore I opened up for and DJ’d along side such greats as: KRS-ONE, DJ Q-Bert and DJ Swamp among others at the popular club Sonar. While in Washington DC I opened up for and DJ’d along side such greats as: Cappadonna, Jurrasic 5, Mr.Len, Tame-One, Matisyahu among others at many popular clubs that hosted Hip Hop. In the summer of 2003 I had the opportunity to DJ before and after Dave Chappelle’s DC standup for both shows at the Warner Theater right after his first season debut of “Chappelle’s Show”. Soon thereafter I would find myself at Nissan Pavilion on the Code of the Cuts stage of the Vans Warped Tour. After those two amazing shows and the reception I received in DC and Baltimore I became a resident DJ for a legendary party called “Krunk” led by international DJ Jesse Tittsworth. During this time I would have shows at the world renowned Knitting Factory in New York and 9:30 Club in Washington DC and opening up for artists such as Jurassic 5 and Matisyahu. I have also judged the Guitar Center’s “Spin Off” DJ competition four times and was a judge at the International Turntable Federation (ITF) Mid Atlantic finals DJ competition. Presently I DJ for special occasions, but most of my time is now spent in my studio.

Throughout the years and in an almost nonexistent Uruguayan disco house and funk scene he grow a new offer by co-founding a collective called “La Escuela del Groove“ maintaining various residences in the Montevidean night and producing and being part of new parties in the region. In this way he managed to position himself as one of referent Djs focused on this style in Uruguay and became an emerging local artist. He is a digger and love to find “new” lost songs and today its main production is to reedit them for the modern dancefloor. He recently edited his EP "Funky Weekend" for the first time on Beatport, under the Muzik X Press label, which climb on place 31st of the funk/soul/disco best 100 rank. He recently co-founded a new 10’’ inch record label named U’re Guay Records centered on disco house to bring new lost grooves to the nightclubs and featuring national artists, they are planning their first release in July and followed by three more in June and August 2018. After a decade musicing any encounter, since the last three years the rhythm of presentations has become constant in clubs and parties in Uruguay and the quality of the parties were increasing, emerging new opportunities in various countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, the United States, France and Paraguay.

Search Add 6 DVJ Kaa Laurent Jreijiri Kaa is a pioneer of the Middle East electronic scene, celebrating his tenth year of Dj’ing in 2008, with over a hundred performances worldwide. Born in 1979, and after growing up during the Lebanese civil war, he is expatriated to France in 1989 where he’ll accomplish his education. A musician since his young, he plays the piano, the guitar, oriental percussions and experiments on all kind of hybrid instruments. In 1998 Kaa decides to take his career seriously as a self-accomplished Dj. 1999 was the year where he and his Lebanese friends founded the Beirut Underground (Bug System) project, developing the electronic scene through unique events in the Middle East. After graduating from a French Graphic design school, he decides in 2001 to launch his Vj project, the Visual Suspects; because according to his philosophy the visuals could not exist without the music, they are two elements intimately linked. These two musical and graphic projects will thus be merged together, giving us: The Kaa. Being among the first to initialize a new and single performance of a DJ and a VJ together, creating the term of DVJ - an audiovisual concept completely synchronized. After joining Tribal Vision records, Kaa releases his first compilation called “Cabaret” in June 2008, a concept of the electronic modern ball, featuring highly respected artists from the progressive scene such as Dousk, Luke Porter, Duca, Brisker & Magitman, Tegma and more. His first track “Red Led” co-produced with Motion, also appears on this compilation. In 2008 he became the artistic director and resident dj for the “Progressiv’ nights” parties organized by Gaia Concept at the Nix Nox – in the center of Paris. In charge of making the line -ups, he would be booking some of the most talented artists such as Vibrasphere, Side-A, Solead, Jaia, D-sens, Dj Pena, Dj Ondrej, Dj Mc Gregor just to name a few. Following the steps of his ancestors the Phoenicians, Kaa has performed in many countries such as Mexico, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, India, and all around Europe! He has also played in prestigious venues such as The Mass and the University Of London in the U.K, the Trabendo & the Batofar in Paris, at B018 in Beirut, and more recently in Asia’s biggest club based in New Delhi: The Elevate. He has also been invited to perform at large scale events such as the Techno Parade in Paris and the Street Parade in Bologna. He was in charge of the visual projections during various showcases at the Champs-Elysées’ Fnac. His musical knowledge has made him play with many icons of the electronic scene such as Plasticman aka Richie Hawtin, Jerome Isma-Ae, D-Nox & Beckers, Francesco Farfa, Tall Paul, Antix, Tegma, Atmos, Dj Kristian, Dj Slater, and many more. Since some years ago, he became interested in music, playing some well-known songs and until now, decided to produce own tracks. In spite of being an amateur, he wants to share his synth-pop songs on the internet as he enjoys writing and producing them. He uses the retro style from 80s or 90s since he considers that it is one of the best eras. Michael Jackson, Queen and most of the 80s / 90s europop bands are his musical influences. His songs deal with many topics such as love, greed, evil, injustice, hypocrisy and achievements.

When Vince came to The University of Texas in Austin in 1955, a new era of bands opened up. He was to the band program at the university what Darrell Royal was to football. The first challenge he had was to sell the band directors of Texas on the Longhorn Band. During his twenty years as Longhorn Band Director, the band made 17 bowl game performances. The Longhorn Band and Michigan Band are the only major university bands to perform at the Super Bowl. Many of the ideas that Vince introduced with the Longhorn Band have stood the test of time and are very much a part of today’s performances. He introduced March Grandioso, as well as March of the Longhorns and The Wabash Cannonball.

Search Add 6 Christian Woodyatt Christian Woodyatt [a=Christian Woodyatt]'s induction into clubland began in Nottingham way back in the late eighties as early US house consumed the British scene. Having spent many a sweat night on the dancefloor at Nottingham’s Garage Club, educated by the soundtrack of the ubiquitous Graeme Park, he was caught by the bug and slowly began nurturing his own style and skills. By 1991, Christian had appeared at several local underground soirées, which brought him to the attention of one James Baillie, the then head honcho of the now legendary “Venus” club. Soon after, his he was invited to take the helm as the resident for its infamous Saturday nights. What started out as simply a regular slot for playing his slick mix of US house and Balearic gems, rapidly developed into one of the Midlands’ seminal nights out. He often found himself playing alongside some of the International figureheads of the scene at that time; rubbing shoulders with the cream of the world’s DJs. Christian’s talents didn’t go unnoticed; in addition to the growing demand for guest appearances, he was receiving good press from various lifestyle bibles of the time – named as ‘one to watch’ by Mixmag and listed on the ‘hot or not barometer’ of The Face magazine “..You may not have heard of him yet but you will, a Balearic DJ who can mix…” During 1993 Christian’s career soared and, following a ‘DJ of the month’ article in i-D magazine, he was invited to appear on the magazine’s World Tour playing alongside Tony Humphries, a long time hero of his – this denoted a significant rise in his profile and secured his credentials. Over the ensuing years he could be found playing at pretty much every major club and event throughout the UK and overseas – a personal highlight being regular appearances at the world renowned Southport Weekender. What followed was an offer that, in retrospect, truly established him as a key player in the UK house and garage scene; a monthly residency at the Ministry of Sound. During this period, Christian was lucky enough to play alongside such luminaries as CJ Macintosh, Dave Lee, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and, his early inspiration, Graeme Park. In the mid nineties Christian made the inevitable move into production teaming up with [a=Chris Scott] of [a=Happy Clappers] fame to release the [r=555901]. Once again, he caught the bug and continued to pursue his production aspirations, a few years later landing a deal with Virgin Records – releasing [r=125233] under the guise of [a=Nu Soulboy]. Various remix projects followed, most notably the Nu Soulboy Mix of [r=171355] on Todd Terry’s [l=Sound Design] imprint label and Cindy Mizelle’s "Shine on Me", through A&R Records. This brings us to the present day – although Christian still makes infrequent forays into the DJing arena, his main area of focus is production. More recently he used his own small independent label [l=Gorgeous Brown] as a vehicle for releasing his own work. However, the unexpected demise of the distribution company saw this come to a premature end. Having taken a step back from the scene to focus on his personal goals, Christian has now returned; stronger than ever and determined to bring his music once more to the fore. His new digital label imprint ‘Sensoul Records’ is due to launch Summer ’09.

Search Add 6 Mina Foley Mina Foley (9 March 1930 – 21 January 2007) was a New Zealand coloratura soprano, who rose to prominence in the 1950s. She was the first of many to study under the acclaimed singing teacher Dame Sister Mary Leo. Other prominent singers who studied with Mary Leo included the internationally renowned soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, soprano Dame Malvina Major, and mezzo-soprano Heather Begg. Foley's voice was famously dubbed "The voice of the century". Mina Foley was the most promising young soprano of her time. She studied abroad, returning to New Zealand in 1960. Unfortunately Foley had a severe and mental breakdown in 1961, forcing her retirement. She spent the next 16 years in Oakley Psychiatric Hospital. In 1978 she staged a return concert. However her return to singing was short-lived, as ill-health continued to plague her until her death.
