Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 6 Jamie Shew “Forgive me if I don’t have the words. Maybe I can sing it and you’ll understand.” -Ella Fitzgerald Whether on stage or in the classroom, these are words that vocalist Jamie Shew seeks to achieve – to be able to project personal emotions and experiences through song. Jamie grew up in the Tri-Cities, a group of towns located in south central Washington State. She began her musical training at the age of four, when she was first introduced to the piano. The desire to sing was very strong for Jamie throughout her childhood; however, she was always needed as an accompanist. It was during her senior year in high school that her choir director gave her the opportunity to sing a Karen Carpenter solo. This was a pivotal moment – she was hooked. Jamie earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Washington State University and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance/Jazz Studies at Western Michigan University. As a graduate assistant at WMU, she had the opportunity to study privately with one of her favorite jazz vocalists, Sunny Wilkinson, and perform and record with the renowned vocal jazz ensemble, Gold Company. As a jazz vocalist, Jamie continues to enjoy a dynamic performance career among many internationally recognized jazz musicians such as Larry Koonse, Darek Oles, Royce Campbell, Chuck Manning, Bruce Babad, Jeremy Siskind, Kendall Kay, Mike Scott, Matt Politano, Danny Janklow, Dave Robaire, Will Brahm, Joe Bagg, Steve Cotter, Jason Harnell, Dan Schnelle, and Josh Nelson. In her newest CD project, Eyes Wide Open, released May 2018, Jamie uses song to tell the story of her 20-year relationship with her husband, bass player Roger Shew, and the loss she experienced when he succumbed to cancer. The music follows the arc of her life from the early days of their relationship through Roger's illness and beyond. Jamie's extensive musical training informs her singing. Her timbre is warm and inviting, while her timing, phrasing, and ability to interact so well with the band reflects her years of study. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's playing with some of the finest musicians in Southern California including guitarist Larry Koonse, pianist and Hammond B3 player Joe Bagg, bass player Darek Oles, and drummer Jason Harnell, who are all leaders in their own right. Jamie chose songs she had considered recording in the past, but now they took on new meanings for her. She wrote two original compositions and selected and arranged the rest with a lot of deliberation. Each song became a metaphor for her journey. Eyes Wide Open is a project imbued with love and loss but eschews mere sentimentality. Jamie doesn't just perform moving interpretations of these songs, she opens her heart and exposes the genuine, raw feelings that have propelled her to make this CD. Her innate musicality is showcased in her phrasing and tone, but it's how she reveals the depth of the human condition that sets this project apart. In addition to a rich performance career, Jamie is Coordinator of Vocal Jazz Studies at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California, where she teaches private jazz voice lessons, two levels of Vocal Jazz Styling and Improvisation courses, Music Theory, History of Rock and Roll, directs two groups in the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble program, and is the vocalist for the Faculty Jazz Cadre high school educational outreach program. She is also an in-demand adjudicator and clinician for jazz festivals throughout the country and internationally, has served as the past Vocal Jazz Chair of the Southern California Vocal Association, and has directed the California All-State Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Search Add 6 Bubuska Valença Ivan Rangel Neto Ivan Rangel Neto, or simply Bubuska Valença, as the Brazilian singer, instrumentalist, composer, and actor became known, is the author of several compositions recorded by big names in Brazilian popular music (MPB). Born into a family of artists, the son of the poet Luciano Pontual Rangel do Rego Barros and the writer Maria da Paz Valença Rangel, or simply Pazita Valença, he learned to play the guitar from an early age and later began composing and having his songs recorded by great interpreters of Brazilian Popular Music. For example, in 1976, the song "Festa da Apartação" was recorded by Banda de Pau e Corda; the song "Marca Ferrada" was recorded by Paulo Diniz in 1978, a collaboration with his mother, Pazita Valença. He emerged in the last important MPB festivals, in the late 70s and early 80s, and was a driving force in the Pernambuco carnival, with his electric sailboat on the Capibaribe River during carnival. "Um Deus Vagabundo" is Bubuska's first solo album. In 1978, he appeared on two tracks of an LP, "Primeira Cantoria da Músicas Nordestinas," which featured the best songs presented at the Regional Festival organized by TV Globo in Recife, where he placed among the top contenders with his compositions: "Sertão, Pedra, Pau e Poeira" and "Se Oriente, Moço," the latter in collaboration with his mother, Pazita Valença. He went to Rio de Janeiro to participate in two TV Globo music programs, called "Sexta Super" and "Brasil Pandeiro," where he received offers from record labels RCA and WEA, which he refused, due to many Northeastern artists recording with them and not seeing any progress in their careers; he waited for longer-term opportunities. In 1978-1979, he took a theater course at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios with Professor Luís Carvalheira. From 1979 to 1984, he acted in the popular spectacle: The Passion of Christ of Nova Jerusalém. At the First Popular Music Festival of the Northeast, he placed third with the song "Lost Like a Blind Man in the Middle of a Shootout" and won the award for Best Performer of the year. He participated in several festivals and won several awards, including at the "It's Time to Sing" Festival of Rede Tupi Television in São Paulo in 1979, winning in the Best Lyrics category with the song: "I Want to Be There," which earned him a contract with Polygram in 1980. In 1980, the singer Maricenne Costa recorded "Quantas e Quantos," composed in partnership with Antônio Adolfo, and in the same year, the singer Fafá de Belém recorded "Cabresto" and "Baque do Coração," both in partnership with the late Vevé Calazans. In 1983, Jessé recorded "Rosas de Maio". The following year, Tânia Alves recorded "Cadê Nós" and his cousin Alceu Valença recorded "A menina dos meus olhos". In 1985, the singer Baby Consuelo recorded "Desejo Colorido," and Alceu Valença recorded "Mar de amor menina" in 1986, and many other artists recorded songs composed by him. He has always dedicated himself to creating soundtracks and jingles, imbuing them with his restless personality and latent creative power, factors that characterize him as an artist of multiple ideas and achievements that transcend the limits of music, constantly seeking innovation and independence to present his work. For example, he built a giant puppet named "Bubuskão," which he used to play and promote his songs throughout the city; another example was performing on a mobile stage, and for years "Asas da América" (Wings of America) was his stage along with his cousins Marcos and Marcelo Valença. Gradually, he realized that his music needed a more effective means of communication to promote his work, so he created "Rádio Buska," transforming a buggy into a mini mobile stage, not limiting himself to promoting his music only in his city, but throughout the country. In 1990, during his trip to Europe, more precisely in Venice, Italy, the country hosting the FIFA World Cup, while playing the guitar on a gondola ride, he had the idea of building a musical boat. Returning to Recife, he put his idea into practice, building the only known aquatic electric trio, which he named: "Águas da Boa Viagem" Aquatic Electric Trio. It is an electric sailboat designed to be a floating stage to bring his music to the beach, uniting his passions: the sea and music. This vessel, completed in 1993, participated in events and environmental projects such as: Curta o Capibaribe, Bloco Aquático Galinha d´Água, Carnival on the Capibaribe River, and the Clean Beach Project, in which he played music and informed the public about beach maintenance.

Search Add 6 Jan Hovers Jan Hovers is a multidisciplinary artist who uses personal experiences, dreams, struggles, and desires as ingredients for his storytelling. His work spans music, soundscapes, linocuts, and podcasts, often drawing on a past filled with vanished people, images, and sounds. From an early age, Jan has sought to capture fleeting moments in sound and image, aiming to grasp the ephemeral. This can manifest in unexpected ways, such as his late grandmother’s voice from 1974 appearing in a song or a musical collage featuring his 19-year-old self purchasing a compass in an English village shop. Jan frequently incorporates material from his extensive collection of 78 RPM records, where each fragile shellac disc preserves three minutes of time that he feels compelled to save. He also draws inspiration from books, films, and heritage, often predating his birth, as their abstract and bygone nature allows him to reinterpret and create new stories. This process of positive escapism brings him happiness and helps him make sense of unresolved experiences and emotions. Jan’s unique style is characterized by small auditory landscapes in his music. Through these narrative-driven creations, Jan invites his audience into a parallel world—a refuge from the mundane, everyday life. His overarching goal is to bring as many unborn stories to life as possible, which he sees as his greatest and most joyful motivation.

Search Add 6 Bakû Dub French artist from Paris, active in music and artworks. "Bakû 獏 (dub) is dedicated to creating a universe in her image (cyb3rdub): ethereal, dark and unique, at the border of genres, constantly evolving according to her musical explorations and encounters (She regularly collaborates with Jael, Ramiya and Kodama, and has recently created the HAZE collective with Awoga, Hermit, Jael and Ramiya). Electronic sounds (techno, house, midtempo, cyberpunk, acid and bass music), all tinged with a melodic and dystopian dub, so many influences that allow her to push her limits and continue her contemplative journey in this unknown world." Search Add 6 Drone Forest Artistic collective creating gritty ambient and quietnoise music. Drone Forest utilizes the internet to trade sound sources, which are assembled by the group into drone based soundscapes. With a few notable exceptions, each of Drone Forest's full-length releases are assembled by a single member of the collective, using sound sources recorded by the group. Thus the character of the group is relayed via an individual expression. Since the band is separated by great distance, audio source files are exchanged over the internet, each member's own sound studio used to manipulate and arrange the sounds toward a common set of ideals. The Drone Forest project was initiated by Ian C. Stewart in the year 2002 when he requested electronic audio files from Michael J. Bowman, C. Reider and Davie Blint. Mr. Stewart then used these files to create several long pieces of experimental music, which he set to a videotape of stark Winter trees. In the Spring of 2003, Drone Forest became active as a collaborative effort.

Search Add 6 Gæoudji Sygnok Parl Kristian Bjørn Vester Gæoudji SYGNOK was an alias used by Danish/Faroese experimental artist Kristian Vester ([a=Goodiepal]) in collaboration with his former students and local artists [a1577809] & VJ Cancer/VJ Livstræt and old friend [a=Poul Erik Veigaard]. Hvad also operated an eponymous [l=Syg Nok] label (2008–2014), for which Goodiepal mastered most releases. Vester established the SYGNOK "band" in 2008 after expulsion from the [l447929], where he taught for four years until Mort Aux Vaches Ekstra Extra compositional game scenario and underlying "Radical Computer Music" theory were finally deemed unsuitable for the academic curriculum. In response, Gæoudjiparl declared a "Gentleman's war on the stupidity of modern computer music and media-based art" against the Royal Academy of Music in Århus. In April 2010, SYGNOK posted a YouTube clip of the Eventide H8000FW rack-mounted FX processor they stole from DIEM studios as Danegæld ("Danish debt," an ancient form of protection money paid to Vikings). In October 2010, Gæoudji SYGNOK presented [r=2513506] album. Named after Martin Lindholm's record store in Århus and pressed at his Dansk Vinyl Produktion, it was co-released by [l79184] and [l189193]. Limited to 500-1050 copies (exact quantities disputed), "Route 66 Eksperimentet" had no playable grooves, with intricate etchings covering the entire LP surface. The cover listed over 30 prominent independent labels that had previously offered Goodiepal releases. Vester finally delivered one "ultimate LP" to all of them (including labels that already went defunct, like [l=Lucky Kitchen]), even assigning "proper" catalog numbers, — without any communication or prior notice to involved companies, though. The record explicitly limited the retail price to 250 DKK ($33) on the spine, but each copy included a genuine 500 Danish Kroner bill, doubling the buyer's investment. Around 40 copies were "hacked" by DJ Hvad and VJ Cancer, who secretly replaced the money with counterfeit SYGNOK bills. The album instantly sold out with widespread publicity from tier-1 Danish press and TV. In March 2011, [l79184] released three limited-edition "add-ons," all sharing the ESC18 catalog number. The cheapest Fortsat ("Continued") edition at 19.50 DKK ($3) contained a photocopy of Kristian Vester's credit card with a PIN code; it was supposedly connected to a 7000 DKK (~$920) account. The more expensive Taget Til Ekstremerne ("Taken to the Extremes") at 78.23 DKK ($11) came with a 1000 "Romani bill," a made-up currency that's expected to have legal tender once Roma people establish the government. The most obscure Cyber Papegøjen Skudt edition at 750 DKK ($98) had signed blank checks linked to Vester's bank account with 200,000 DKK ($26,000). All three records had a hyperlink to download accompanying [a3910381] "audio responses" printed directly on the LP label. (In September 2011, Gæoudji Sygnok released a double cassette [r=3135603] with a more substantial 180-min "walkthrough"). In subsequent interviews, Vester estimated he gave away close to 752,000 DKK ($99,200) in various "Route 66 Eksperimentet" editions, going severely into debt; supposedly, the artist borrowed money from his Ukrainian friend in organized crime. The 2011 mini-documentary "SYGNOK & The War For Radical Computer Music" also claimed Goodiepal sold the "improved" Eventide H8000 device taken from DIEM to a private collector without the consent of other SYGNOK members to partially fund the release (hence the "Sygnok bill" payback). Gæoudji SYGNOK produced two "art/anti-records" for the Dutch art foundation [l=De Player] and its label [l=Drop Of Blood Records]: a 10" dubplate for "Sound as a Weapon" exhibition in February 2011, followed by [r=4833921] (2013) polystyrene lathe cut. One of the last SYGNOK artifacts dated 2016, a self-released 7" single with covers of Pol Erik's 1970s band Daizy. The inlay referred to Goodiepal's current collective involved in similar actionism, [a6749625].

Search Add 6 Restless Children Restless Children Floris A. Brown’s normal work is getting children to see things come into shape under their hands. He teaches handwork. Off duty he loves to see something much less tangible come to shape – sounds. He leads Cape Town’s septet he christened Restless Children and writes most of their music. First there was the shaping of Floris A. Brown, musician. Born nearly 26 years ago, he inherited his love of music from his father, who gave him his first lessons in theory. Then he studied music while training as a teacher at the Hewat Training College in Athlone. Not satisfied with this, he studied composition through the International Songwriter’s Association. Then there was the shaping of the Restless Children. The group started off in 1966 as Romeo Five with Brown on rhythm guitar. A restless group this, what with the many changes in personnel. In a way they have found rest now. They no longer have personnel problems. There’s the 23-year-old Andrew Wilson on lead guitar and vocals. He first teamed up with choir, Junior Merry Melodies. Ther’s Dyrell Bailey, 26, who plays additional lead guitar, mouth organ and sax. Started his career as a jazz musician, but later switched to pop. Another ex-jazzman is Mattheun Appolis, 24, who playes bass guitar. There are the two other teachers, Greg Smith, 22, piano-keyboards and John Brown, 24, drums and trumpet. John teaches art. The two teachers also studied music at Hewat Training College. Then there is the lead vocalist, who also playes congas and tambourine, Deon Kleinhans, nearly 23. He was also a member of the Junior Merry Melodies. After their first big show in Worcester in August 1970, the septet have not looked back. Travelling in their own 15 seater bus, they have played all the major centers in the Cape. The other provinces? They have sent forerunners by way of a 7-single they released last October, “Until Tomorrow” and are now busy working on another 7-single “Try Not To Play The Fool.” “These boys are very good indeed.” The words came from TRUTONE record producer Laurence Koonin – and he was talking about Restless Children, in the studio to record their first LP ( longplaying record). Restless Children are something of a enigma. They are all country boys intent on taking over the city music scene. Their home town is Worcester – and they have played in just every country town in the Western Cape – as well as a very successful tour of South West Africa ( Namibia ). Now, with two high selling singles behind them, the group are working on their first long player. So far it hasn’t been given a name. Composer for the group is the pianist Floris Brown – and most of the numbers on the new record will be by him. RESTLESS CHILDREN was the first and only “so called Coulored” group in the Western Cape during the Apartheid years, who received a GOLD DISC for the two singles “UNTIL TOMORROW & TRY NOT TO PLAY THE FOOL” composed by Floris Brown to exceed in the selling of more than 25 000 copies in South-Africa.
