Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025
Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 2 | Kurt Rasquin | Kurt Billig | German American opera singer (born May 13, 1890 Hamburg, Germany - died November 14, 1940 in Hamburg, Germany) Born Curt Carl Hermann Billig, Rasquin spent some time in Manchester, England. In February 1915, he arrived in the United States, where he worked as an actor and singer. In 1917, he performed at New York's Yorkville Theatre as a member of Adolf Philipp's stock theater company. In February 1921, he became a naturalized U.S. citizen and used the opportunity to adopt his stage name, Kurt Rasquin, as his new legal name. Between 1920 and 1921, Rasquin made numerous recordings of German songs for [l=Columbia], which billed him as a tenor. In the summer of 1922, he also cut 8 sides for the German [l=Vox (3)] label in Berlin; Vox promoted him as a baritone. At the same time, Rasquin increasingly worked as a merchant, traveling back and forth between Germany and the United States. In 1923, he married the widow of a Hamburg merchant, Antonie Mayr-Bertheau, née Fieke, and settled in Hamburg. Between 1931 and 1938, Rasquin lived in Berlin-Charlottenburg, again as a merchant, but then he seems to have moved back once more to Hamburg, where he died of a heart condition in 1940. |

Search | Add | 2 | Сгоревший холодильник | Max Kotenkov, Alex Tokko | A mythical Russian band whose name means "Burned-Out Refrigerator" (pronounced as "Sgorevshyi Kholodilnik"). Having roamed the vast country for years, band members finally settled in Kaliningrad (formerly Königsberg) on the western outskirts of Russia. The band consists of Max Kotenkov (guitar, vocals) and Alex Tokko (guitar, vocals). Band members insist that "Sgorevshyi Kholodilnik" is much rather a philosophical concept than just a musical outfit. Being a self-contained musical entity, "Sgorevshyi Kholodilnik" is closely related to a semi-pirate Kaliningrad formation of music enthusiasts called "Radio Einfall". |

Search | Add | 2 | A Is To B | (a is to b) | (a is to b) is equal parts Crystal Castles' domineering sonic assault and The Haxan Cloak's crepuscular, gloomy atmospherics. At once lo-fi and viscerally immediate, they exist at in the perceptual bleed between transgressive performance art, punishing electronic noise and somnolent, dark ambient void-space. Conceived as the meeting of Scottish noise artist Neil Morrison (The Colours Will Erase Us, Word or Object) and Polish performance artist Marta Adamowicz (MAdam, Gay and Immigrant), originally devised as a way to make club filling drum and bass tracks, it become evident that a shared love of Death in June was going to steer them down a completely different alley. |

Search | Add | 2 | Raphael Groten | Raphael Groten was born in Philadelphia on Christmas Day, 1973, into a true music-loving environment. From happy times as the family sang during long car trips, to his father’s period of harpsichord study, to the ubiquitous presence of multiple guitars during holiday gatherings, there seemed to be something musical going on at all times. In addition, his father’s sizable jazz and classical vinyl collection, with a particular emphasis on Bossa Nova and Latin jazz, was central to his childhood experience. Raphael began with the saxophone as his chosen instrument, starting with alto sax in the 4th grade and graduating to tenor through grades 7 to 10. He moved on to guitar at age 13, learning basic chords and fingerpicking from his mother and sister, and as they say, the rest is history. While still in high school, he became immersed in folk music, composing over 100 songs with friends who collaborated on lyrics. In 1992, Raphael moved on to formal studies at the University of Vermont, where he majored in Philosophy and minored in Music. After his graduation, he launched his ten-piece Latin/jazz/funk ensemble, Saudade. The group performed extensively during the late ’90s in Burlington, Vermont, and released two albums of Raphael’s own compositions. Even as he was experiencing success with his band, something began to stir inside him; some part of him wanted to affect positive change in the world. In 1993, while taking a holistic health class, he met his first shamanic teacher, Susan Grimaldi. She re-entered his life as a healer and teacher in 2002, after his four month old son was involved in a near fatal accident. Raphael first experienced the healing power of sound during that first night in intensive care, as he played guitar for his son, and the following day when a therapeutic harpist played for his family in his son’s room. It was in this moment that Raphael had an epiphany – his life calling was to compose, perform and eventually record intentional healing music. Shortly thereafter, he began shamanic studies, first with Grimaldi and later with Zacciah Blackburn in the fields of Sound Healing and consciousness. After years of intensive study, Raphael became a practitioner, offering individual sessions, group work and apprenticeships, using voice, medicine drums, rattles, crystal and brass bowls, gongs, flutes, guitars and more. As an extension of his involvement with sound and consciousness, Raphael enthusiastically enjoys his work as a preschool music teacher and private guitar teacher. Groten credits the beginning of his recording career to his intuition. During his nightly meditations, he was guided to email his song “Black River” to Will Ackerman, Windham Hill label founder and owner of Imaginary Road Studios. He did so, asking for assistance in producing his first recording of solo guitar for healing. Ackerman responded the next day and a working friendship was formed. Three months later, Journey Home, was recorded at Will’s studio. The experience left a huge impact on Raphael, as he states “I would be remiss in not mentioning the enormous presence of Will Ackerman in my life… I now see, first hand, Will’s influence and heart in supporting the music he loves”. That is why Groten returned to Ackerman’s Imaginary Road Studios for his second album. And it shows in the continued rapport that the Grammy-winning Ackerman has with the relative neophyte, Groten. The artist’s two-disc release, Star Lullaby, displays the special relationship between Raphael and Ackerman in abundance. It will almost certainly grow his following as one of the most promising acoustic guitar instrumentalist composers and performers in the genre.

The origin of his artistic practice lies in music, more precisely in the superimposition of sounds and the resulting vibrations and interferences. |

Search | Add | 2 | Shaheen Ariefdien | Shaheen Ariefdien | Shaheen, was born in Cape Town, the son of jazz musician Issy Ariefdien - which explains his ties to the Cape Jazz sound. Shaheen grew up in Elsies River, on the Cape Flats, but spent most of his earlier years travelling various parts of South Africa with his father - a performing musician. The Sugarhill Gang's "Rappers Delight" had a big influence on Shaheen, and it's not coincidence, that today Shaheen ranks as one of the most talented rappers or MC's in South Africa. He gained recognition at "The BASE" (the legendary club which featured Saturday afternoon Hip Hop jams), with his supremacy in freestyle battles. He is credited with having set the standards with rap styles, skills and lyrical content in Cape Town. Shaheen has always been politically and socially conscious - which stems from his school days when he was a member of the Student's Representative Council and was actively involved in protests at school. Shaheen still brings an air of political awareness and criticism to his lyrics, and has been understandably harsh on the old Apartheid government. As an MC, Shaheen is almost unsurpassed in South Africa, while his production skills are dominant on all of POC's releases to date. Shaheen has also made his mark on Hip Hop History in South Africa, as he was one of the key members who were responsible for setting up the African Hip Hop Movement, and still concentrates on development in the Hip Hop community. |

Search | Add | 2 | John Davidge | Reginald John Davidge | Comedian, singer and songwriter who hailed from south-west England. His lyrics and stand-up comedy act often dealt with subjects that were politically motivated or considered a little controversial for the time. Davidge began his career in the mid-'50s, using the moniker 'Reg Gray' (not to be confused with the Australian entertainer of the same name), performing in theatrical plays, musicals, and films alongside the likes of [a=Michael Caine] and [a=Sean Connery]. He appeared in the film 'Tom Thumb' (1958) and was in a West End production of 'Mr Pickwick'. In 1967, he came to the attention of the wider public when he won Granada TVs talent show, 'First Timers'. Part of the prize for winning was a contract with manager Harvey Lisberg, who was at the time mainly known for being the manager of [a=Herman's Hermits]. Though the association with Lisberg was short-lived, it wasn't fruitless, as it was through the Lisberg connection that Davidge co-wrote The Man From Nazareth with [a=Eric Stewart], [a=Kevin Godley], and [a=Lol Creme]. It got to no.25 in the UK singles chart in 1970 and was his only hit record. Maureen Prest became his manager and it was during this time that Davidge wrote a song supporting the miners' strike, simply called 'The Miners' Song'. The BBC deemed that giving it airtime would make it appear that they supported the strike, so chose to ban the record from their airwaves. In return, Prest declared that she had banned the BBC from playing it. In 1977, Davidge was involved in a car accident in Belfast that left him with injuries so serious that it effectively put an end to his career. He and Prest went their separate ways in 1978 and he settled down with a new partner who spent much of the early-'80s helping him recuperate and to recover his memory. He withdrew from public life and remained private until his death in 2011. Born: 1930 in Bath, Somerset, England. Died: 1st January 2011, in Bath, Somerset, England. |

Search | Add | 2 | Stephen Sandlin | Stephen Sandlin has been making music and performing around Texas, since the early 90s. Originally from Houston, he spent time in New York City, New Jersey and North Carolina before settling back in Houston to make music, art prints, and video projects. Attempting to bring humor and energy, to both the stage and his recordings. With a collection of solo works, music written with his band Haywood, as well as collaborations with Brandon Elam of The Literary Greats. There's plenty to enjoy. 2021’s Contra Festival Monterey Crock-pot is his first solo release, since the slow down of his band, Haywood. Haywood was formed in 1996, when Texas A&M students, Stephen Sandlin and Brandon Elam, collaborated on writing a few songs. Fellow students Kris Arnold, Craig Hoenes, and Chris Huntley joined in, and the Haywood lineup was set. A local band drawing more than a thousand people at a show was unheard of in College Station, TX, but this band did it regularly. Often compared to Guster, Ben Folds, Barenaked Ladies, and Fountains of Wayne, the band’s 1997 release of Flat Tires was the year's most notable, local album. Two songs entered rotation on regional radio. In concert, however, is where the band built a rabid following. The band's remarkable connection with its audiences helped to mold the packed houses into a collective pogo stick, with bouncing and cheering coming from all corners of the venues. In the late 90s and early 2000s, Haywood scored highly prized opening gigs for the likes of David Garza, Bob Schneider’s Ugly Americans, Vertical Horizon, Sister 7 and Chris Duarte. Haywood kicked off, and then headlined, several local music festivals. They went on to release two more full length albums, Tune in the Sun and Shake It, and a 5 song EP The Hartford Complex. Haywood’s true appeal lies in infectiously fun songs and an unprecedented amount of local success. With band members spread between Houston, New York City, and Dallas, shows became less frequent. A set of reunion shows was put together in 2012. New shows are planned for 2021.
