Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024
Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search | Add | 4 | Andy Garibaldi | Andrew Garibaldi | Also known as Andy G or Andy Gee, Andy was based in Staffordshire and ran the prog/experimental/synth music division of Mike Lloyd Music under the guise of Lotus Records, a mail-order business that existed from 1979 through to 1996. MLM had 5 retail shops, the pioneering mail order, as well as a wholesale divison and more, all run and overseen by Andy. In 1983, Lotus Records joined with Inkeys cassette fanzine to organise and promote the first annual "UK Electronica Festival" at Milton Keynes in 1983, followed by further ones at Sheffield and Stafford through to 1990 when others took over the legacy we'd begun. In 1996, Andy left MLM to join CD Services mail order in Dundee, discovering and promoting hundreds and hundreds of new bands and artists via his 10 mail order catalogues covering all manner of specialist genres from Electronic to space-rock, industrial to fusion. At this point, Andy began his own amateur Dead Earnest CD label, which ultimately released 13 albums including the likes of space-rockers Krel, Spacehead, Space Mirrors and Secret Saucer, as well as electronic artist Mooch, Dundee's home grown Mr Spider, Hennissi and Paula Knight, plus the ground-breaking album from Doug Snyder & Bob Thompson. In 2006, he started to promote gigs around Dundee and went on to become one of the city's leading promotors of original Scottish bands, followed by a 6 year radio show for Radio North Angus, featuring emerging and unknown bands from Scotland and worldwide, of which that legacy continues to this day via a weekly radio show available world-wide on Bblished ridge-FM out of Dundee. Currently Andy is still doing reviews, and is arguably one of the leading music reviewers for the past four decades. Dead Earnest as a label is now finished. |

Search | Add | 4 | Nicholas Edward Williams | More than ever before, a wealth of people are writing songs and playing the acoustic guitar. So much so, that it can be perceived as a tired idea. But every once in awhile, there are artists that come into the fold who are living the unique music they create. Such is the case with Seattle-born fingerpicking stomp box rover, Nicholas Edward Williams. Williams was injected with a bohemian lifestyle during a nomadic childhood. By the time he was twelve years of age, his family of four had already moved across four states and nearly ten houses from the west to the east coast. He had no idea that he was being unconsciously groomed to live the Kerouac condition one day; destined to ramble, tell stories of nature, moral ground, and singing about the great people and the multiple levels of the human experience in travel. "My Grandparents took my sister and I from California to Hershey, PA and back a few times through the summer, and we took different routes each time to see various landmarks and plenty of gravestones of people I’d never met. Needless to say, I the desire to move around is in my blood." Williams began living a life on the road full-time in 2012 to pursue his music. First in a Honda Element, and later a self-converted Sprinter Van, carrying everything he owned inside a 20 foot vessel with his wife for three years. The simplistic lifestyle of spending ample amounts of time in nature and meeting various characters enabled Williams to focus his writing on the evolving self and observations of his surroundings, as opposed to the over-saturated topic of love and heartbreak that have dominated airwaves for decades. "For me, there is an unrivaled freedom in allowing life to unfold in front of you, rather than trying to grab life by the horns so you can feel like you’re in control. There are hardships of course on the road, but nothing that isn’t already a part of the process if you’re a career musician. You just have to adjust accordingly if you want longevity.” The sound that you hear from Williams now isn't exactly the same as it used to be. The bones were there, though the style he was destined for has only been recently discovered. From 2007 to 2018, Williams performed under the folk-soul moniker "Whetherman". During those years, he independently released eight full-length albums while continuously touring across the US, as well as throughout the UK and Western Europe. Williams was also afforded opportunities to opened for acclaimed acts such as Taj Mahal and The Wood Brothers. He owes his success to being exposed to roots and string music early on, forever shaping his career. "I essentially 'grew up' as a musician at a very special place called The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, FL. I had the pleasure of performing at roots music festivals there since 2010, and that's where I was first exposed to Bluegrass, Old Time and Traditional Folk Music." This opened his eyes to a whole new world of possibilities for the direction of his music, though it wouldn't be fully realized until many years later. By mid 2017, Williams had hit a wall in his personal life and musical career, after nearly six years without a reasonable break. He decided to cancel two months of tour, and moved to Central America for seven months, by far the longest step back since launching the project. His goal was to reframe his mentality, and find a spark. This led to an evolution in musical style, dropping the "Whetherman" moniker and a desire to set forth under his full name starting in 2019. With a fresh thirst for learning fingerpicking techniques, Williams dove in depth to school himself in the history of American music, from Appalachian folk, country blues, Piedmont Blues, and deep rooted Mississippi Delta blues from the likes of Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt and Elizabeth Cotten. His affinity for songwriting also grew and matured from an unfeigned love for storytellers like John Prine, Paul Simon and Jim Croce. “I’ve become a student again. I’m absolutely fascinated with tracing American music back to it’s immigrant roots, and how these styles have woven the fabric of roots music as we know it today.” The troubadour tells stories of the silent, simple perils of the average Joe. He plays on the cliche rhythms of married life, the age of convenience, the footprint of our generation, paying homage to his musical heroes, imagery of men drinking to the follies of America, and good old-fashioned murder ballads. Williams has his own brand of satire, simple honesty, and vivid imagery that translates into energetic live shows, harnessing rhythmic fingerpicking, soaring vocals, rolling harmonica, heart-thumping stomp box and charismatic whistling. All of which is backed with engaging descriptions and infectious personality between songs. With renewed energy and fervor, Williams is set to release his debut solo album titled, ‘As I Go Ramblin' Around’ in June of 2019.

(All that jazz, Fame, Coyote Ugly & Disco nights) Met andere gezelschappen : Dokter De Vuyst en Rosalie Niemand. Hun motto 'Let's have some fun'.

Search | Add | 4 | Klezmeyers | The music of the Klezmeyers has travelled far – the three Berlin instrumentalists merge Klezmer melodies with Flamenco, Jazz and arbic rhythms. In their virtuous playing, a music evolves that doesn’t deny it’s roots in tradition, and still surprises time and time again. Modern klezmer on the highest level. FRANZISKA ORSO - KLARINETTE Franziska was born in Berlin. Early, she discovered her passion for klezmer music, that was later on reinforced by repeated encounters with Giora Feidman, the band Kol Simcha and Harrys Freilach. After participating in a klezmer workshop held by Giora Feidman, in 1997 she finally founded the klezmer trio Klezmeyers, which is still her chief musical project. 1998 she had a soloistic clarinet part in the movie “Der Laden”, Jo Baiers movie adaptation of Erwin Strittmatters novel. 2001 Franziska started her studies of classic clarinet, graduating in 2005. Since then, she was engaged in a range of musical projects. She soloed in numerous chamber music ensembles and orchestras, including the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra at the Berliner Philharmonie. In November 2007 Franziska could be heard at the Schubertiade in Hohenems (Austria), together with the soprano singer Annette Dasch. Since 2010 she is clarinet player and singer of the chanson-gypsy band Yukazu. She is also a lecturer at the Berlin Reinickendorf national musical school. ROBERT KESSLER - GITARRE Robert Kessler is guitarist, composer and teacher. Contemporary jazz, world music and pop are melting together in his music. Born in 1984 he studied jazz guitar at the Conservatory of Music „Hanns Eisler“ (the later „Berlin Jazz Institute“) with Manfred Dierkes and Kurt Kurt Rosenwinkel. In private studies he intensively engaged with classical guitar literature, flamenco, Brazilan and acoustic guitar music. He participated in workshops with Mark Whitfield, Aaron Goldberg, Marc Dressler, Chris Potter and Hank Jones. In 2006 he started the Robert Kessler Group, which – next to the duo Spell and String, Klezmeyers, and La voz y la guitarra – builds the focus of his musical and compository output. In 2008 he released his debut album „Jasmin“ which was nominated Archtop Germany’s „album of the year“. Besides his work as a bandleader and composer he is a very demanded sideman in the fields for Jazz-, Pop, and Pop- Acts, as well as with concerts, festivals and tours throughout Germany and Europe. In 2011 he starts playing the Udo Lindenberg Show “Hinterm Horizont” in Berlin.Since 2010 he has got a teaching assognment for guitar at the Berlin College of popular Arts (hdpk) and since 2012 at the Conservatory of Music „Hanns Eisler“. DAVID HAGEN - BASS David Hagen lives in Berlin, born in Frankfurt/Main. He started his musical career at the age of 14 playing bass guitar in rock and funk bands. Learning double bass when he was 18 years old and since then he was involved with many different Jazz bands and classical orchestral.Studying at the university in Mainz, Diplom Jazz musician.Since then freelancer in all categories of jazz and world music. Search | Add | 4 | Platonik | Derek Marin | Platonik aka Derek Marin was born & raised in New York ctiy. He developed a passion for music early on & started playing the drums at age 9. Being influenced by groups like Depeche Mode, New Order, Front 242 & Big audio dynamite he stared playing in bands at age 14. During this time he also started to build his production skills, taking charge of the recording, mixing, & editing aspects at home & in the studio. He also began to experiment with other instruments like keyboards, bass & guitar. After playing drums in bands & generally being part of the background for almost ten years, Derek realized that there was something missing. The year was 1991 & techno started to become a prominent force in NYC. This was the thing that filled the void for him. It was new, exciting & it was a kind of music that he could do on his own as well as take advantage of his growing studio skills. So he purchased some electronic gear & by 1992 started producing tracks & selling mix tapes. By 1994 Derek started to become a respected dj in the electronic community in new york. It wasn't long before he started being part of important events, holding many residencies, working at the vinyl shop Throb in New York, & commercially releasing tracks. (see discography for more details) Currently Mr. Marin is as busy as ever. He continues to produce tracks & remixes for various record labels, djs around the world, produces mix cds, & keeps things together at Throb records. Search | Add | 4 | Jan Hovers | As a child it was difficult for Jan (born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands) to choose. Music, tape editing, assembling booklets, making films. Then he grew up and responsibilities had to be borne - school, home, family, work - first as a program maker for a Dutch public broadcaster and later as a museum director. In the meantime he played in various bands, with which he toured and recorded CDs, but little time was left for his own artistic work. Until he regained his freedom and could eagerly pick up the creative thread of his youth again. In addition to making linocuts and podcasts, he has devoted himself fully to music. In a short time he recorded his debut solo album with mostly collected compositions written over a lifetime (Climb, 2022). In the meantime he also performs with Three Guys Named Joe – a Dutch trio with a nod to Americana. He is currently working steadily on new repertoire, in which he is taking an exciting path by combining music and atmosphere into small auditory landscapes. The first example of this appeared at the end of 2022 in memory of his deceased father, with whom he makes a final journey together in the song (Er Zijn Dan Van Die Dingen (Requiem For Dad)). More new work is on the way. So keep an eye on him!

Search | Add | 4 | Richie Gomez | Rich was born and raised in Bayonne NJ. Rich’s life has been marked with music as both his father and older brother were professional drummers. His mother was very involved with community groups and The Sweet Adeline’s Singing Group. After graduation from High School Rich was spotted by the producers of the 1910 Fruitgum Company. Impressed with Rich’s voice, guitar playing and animated stage presence, he was approached and asked to formally audition and joined the group. Through recordings Rich made with the “Fruitgum” Company, he was awarded the RIAA Gold Record Award to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of several hit singles. Touring with 1910 Fruitgum Company Rich appeared in concert with notable groups like, “The Monkees”, “Sly and the Family Stone” and “The Ohio Express.” He also composed songs for two albums, “Special Delivery” and “Hard Ride” which were released internationally, all this at age 18. Some years later he auditioned for the Broadway Show "Beatlemania." Rich was thrilled to hear the news that he had gotten the part. For the next 4 years he appeared on Broadway and in major cities throughout North America as “George Harrison” in the world-renowned show. Rich received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1973. He enrolled in Advanced Christian Training School and began to attend church faithfully. Graduating as valedictorian, Rich became actively involved in music ministry as worship leader at Faith Fellowship Ministries. He began with a small group but the music ministry grew to include a 20 piece orchestra and a 100 voice choir. A highlight in ministry came when Rich had the opportunity to lead worship for a live praise & worship recording for an Integrity Hosanna.® praise album entitled “Almighty.” He was also blessed when his original song “Let Everything That Has Breath” was selected for the top selling praise & worship recording by Ron Kenoly, entitled, “Lift Him Up.” Rich currently resides with his wife Cathy in Prescott, AZ, where he is currently a Worship Pastor at Prescott Church Of Nazarene.

Search | Add | 4 | Taming The Outback | Taming The Outback were a three-piece from Southend-on-Sea (Essex, UK) and were ... * Daryl Amos >> Drums * Tony Sampson >> Guitar & Vocals * Jason Sherwin >> Bass (died in 2011) The band were active from 1986 to 1989. While they spent most of their time playing outside of the town itself, they were very much a Southend band and established a large and loyal following all across the UK. The original three members formed after criss-crossing each other’s musical paths in South East Essex in the early 1980s. Melbourne-born drummer Daryl Amos and bass player Jason Sherwin first played together in local band A Wreath For Brezhnev, later meeting-up with guitarist/singer Tony Sampson, who was then playing in the band Playground, to form Taming The Outback – a band characterized by an aggressive, driven, rhythm section, strong self-penned songs with a rich, echo-saturated wall-of-sound guitar. Taming The Outback soon began recording at Elephant Studios in East London, where they recorded their debut single Blue Heart / Fire & Smoke – now a minor rarity due to limited distribution and a tiny pressing of 500 copies. However, their public profile rapidly changed when the band attracted local and national press attention with their infamous “crucifixion” publicity shoot – taken (without permission) on Salvation Army land. At the time it was claimed to be in protest over “religious hypocrisy” and “obscenity of ownership of vast tracts of land in the hands of the churches.” It was, of course, pure coincidence that the band were also preparing for a second single: Eight-Hour King / Crack In Your Brain. The image found itself splashed over the local newspaper, The Evening Echo, accompanied by headlines screaming “Blasphemous!”, “Sick!” and a multitude of complaints by local Christian groups. Soon after, national UK tabloids picked up on the story. Whether or not it was a cheap publicity stunt, atheistic protest or a work of art is still a subject of debate among those who remember it. Nevertheless, the punk and post-punk generation always regarded religious, political and other national institutions as legitimate targets for comment. Playing live became a primary focus for the band but the endless gigging, drinking and the failure to release the aforementioned second single and the LP (already recorded) probably marked the beginning of the end of the band. Taming The Outback itself played their last gigs in 1989 with the aggression being turned inwards between personnel and instruments.

Search | Add | 4 | Vasectomy Leftovers | Nekro-Feelia | Originally formed in 1989 under the name Nekro-Feelia by Josh McCurdy + Dan Seida while the two attending jr. high school in Southern California. Early musical influences ranged from "Enslavement"-era Napalm Death to Crass' "Best Before", to pre-"Black album" Metallica + Discharge. Lyrical examples of the time were primarily focused on impossible absurdist scatological satire, with later examples being much more heavily focused on vagueness + emotions. 1991 saw the duo complete a C-60 cassette on McCurdy's label Hot Damn! Tapes, called "Sex, Drugs, Murder... Art!!", and limited to an agonizing 5 copies. All tracks were recorded live on a ghetto blaster at the home of McCurdy's Grandparents. In 1993, the duo returned with the "Choking On Dental Dams" cassette, which was again recorded live on a ghetto blaster at the home of McCurdy's Grandparents, and released by Hot Damn! Tapes, and limited to around 5 copies. As for instruments, the duo did not use acoustic drums on their first 2 albums. But rather, they recorded all drum parts live using a Yamaha DD6 drum machine, + later, a Yamaha DD7 drum machine. The duo also changed their name, from Nekro-Feelia, to Vasectomy Leftovers, due to a glut of bands with similar "Necro" names within the underground tape-trading scene of the time However in 1994, while attending High School, the duo once again changed their name... this time to Dive!. They recorded their first 4-track studio sessions that year, completing the "Bloop!" cassette, which was released by Hot Damn! Tapes, and limited to 30 copies. It was also the first album by the group that did away with the drum machine altogether (replacing it with a real drum kit). It showcased McCurdy's earliest true-compositional examples, which all were still very basic + primitive at the time, at least in McCurdy's own recollection. "Dan was essentially learning to play the drums at the same time the tape was recording. And we rarely did a second take of anything we ever recorded. Recording our improvisations was just how we wrote our music. Mistakes included.". |
