Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 Mikiel Abela Mikiel Abela (1920 - 1991) was a Maltese folk singer. Mikiel Abela l-Bambinu was born in Żejtun on the 16th of August 1920. He was brought up and lived in his father’s farmhouse that is located between Il-Qajjenza and Marsaxlokk. He was famous for his makkjetti and for his folk ballads. Amongst his most famous are Id-Destin ta' Pawlu l-Bies, Il-Fenech Inviżibbli, about Ċikku Fenech Ta' Vanġiela, who in June 1963 was on the run for three months, being sought all over Malta by the police for the murder of Ċikku Vella and L-Ingliż li ġie Miekul mill-Ħuta fil-Bajja ta' San Tumas, a ballad about Jack Smedley, an Englishman eaten by a great white shark in St. Thomas Bay on 20 July 1956. Most of Abela's ballads were published as chapbooks and he remains, with Żeppi Spagnol Il-Kelba one of the most prolific. Perhaps the most biographical work was the his ballad Il-Firda Eterna (Eternal Parting) written in honour of his wife Ġużeppa, who passed away three days after their daughter's marriage. Three thousand people flocked to visit her corpse at home prior to her burial. Abela also featured on vinyl with his sister-in-law Maria Abela tal-Bambinu, including the popular It-tgħajjira. Ballad writing requires intensive research and fieldwork. If the story revolved about a serious crime that was to be resolved by a jury, Abela would attend all the court sessions to observe the occurrences and be precise in his writings. Twenty of Bambinu's ballads were published in Cassar's 1988 biography entitled Il-Bambinu: għana u poeżija, that was published by Sensiela Kotba Soċjalisti. Recalled for his open commitment to the Partit Laburista, he is refered to as Il-Għannej tal-Partit (The party's folksinger). Abela was proud of his hometown, and its reputation of being the mecca for Maltese folksinging. He sung thus: Trid idur sebat irħula Biex forsi ssib għannej Iż-Żejtun jitwieled tifel, Joħroġ jgħanni jekk jibqa' ħaj! You have to go through seven villages To perhaps come across a folksinger In Żejtun a boy is born, He comes out singing if stays alive! The premise that a good folksinger needs to use his sense of wit to challenge authority was perhaps never as exemplified then when Mikiel Abela Il-Bambinu addressed the Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi, during a night of Maltese talent at the Manoel Theatre in the late Seventies. Enthusiasts still remember his improvised verses: Sur Gaddafi tħobb lil Malta Jien miż-Żejtun bil-mixi ġejt Nitolbok biex tagħdirna U fittex raħsilna ż-żejt Mr. Gaddafi, You love Malta I have walked all the way from Żejtun To implore you to empathize with us Spare no time in reducing the price of your petroleum. He performed amongst the Maltese communities in Australia, Canada and in London, and as a guest in Germany and Italy. Aged thirty, he was committed about emigrating for good to Australia and on the ship that had sailed from Malta with one thousand migrants, Abela claims that three hundred were from Żejtun. During the time he spent in Australia he suffered economic hardship and returned to Malta. Back in Malta he became the famous folk singer that he was. Abela passed away on the 10th of February 1991. One of the most famous balladeers in the history of għana. His grand daughter married the noted Mikiel Cutajar Is-Superstar. His cousin was improvised verse folk singer Żeppi Abela l-Fenka.

Search Add 4 Oscar Burnside Oskar Szafraniec Oskar Szafraniec a.k.a. Oscar Burnside (born in Poland in 94') - is a musician, producer and live performer. Since the age of 10 experimenting with music and sound. Oskar's first remix was released on Italian label NuZone Tools when he was only 13. He released his own track on the same label called Dark Side in 2008 and many more tracks with Der Hut (Germany), Shufflemood (Argentina), Frequenza Records (Italy) and other labels around the globe. Since then he's been DJing in clubs and on the festivals, studying music genres, history and spending most of his time working in the studio. In 2010 he released his first and immediately controversial LP album - 'The Suicide' on Dirty Stuff Rec. and another ambient self-released 'Water under dream'. In 2011 he was chosen by the Kluboterapia Awards as one of the top 5 Polish Artists. When he was 17, he dropped out of school to move to Berlin. It was a turning point for Oskar, finding new inspiration, meeting new people, partying every weekend and working on music and touring with UK producer, A Guy Called Gerald. Since then he started to focus on performing his own music with 2 laptops and singing live. He visited many countries around the world, in 2013 he's been touring in Japan with A Guy Called Gerald and had several gigs in Russia and Europe. Oskar finally decided to cast off the Burnside moniker and work as Oskar Szafraniec. Since 2014 he brings more instruments on the stage as he's performing with Roland Aira machines, midi controllers, microphones and laptop. He is very inspired by the people he meets, open minded, curious about different cultural perspectives and that's how he developed his personal, unique sound.

In 1945 he won the Golden Gloves welterweight championship and was awarded the Barney Rodd trophy. He turned to professional boxing whilst maintaining an interest in singing and jazz which he swung to. In 1954 in Milwaukee he formed the Mil-Combo with Ziggy Millzoni and Don Mamblow and recorded an album. By July 1956, when the Connie Milano Trio shared a booking with King Fleming at the Sutherland Lounge, the Mil-Combo was history. In the late 1950s Milano was frequently working in a duo with a pianist. In 1959, he was the bassist in the Charlotte Politte Trio. During the 1960s, Connie Milano often performed in Dixieland groups (the one he put on his résume was Jack Teagarden's, but he was also in Bob Scobey's and several others), and led other ensembles as well. He played with many of the greats, including Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, and Nat King Cole. By 1977, he was living in Florida and had updated his nickname to Conti. Constantine Milano died in Miami Beach, Florida, in August 2008.

Search Add 4 SixFoxWhiskey Brad Moreno - Guitar / Vocals / Keys Tyler Davis - Drums / Vocals Thomas Yannopoulos - Bass / Vocals Dan Felix - Saxophone / Vocals Chris Ballerini - Guitar / Vocals ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “We’ll play for free, we’ll play if no one’s listening, we just want to play,” says SixFoxWhiskey’s drummer, Tyler Davis. Thankfully for SixFoxWhiskey, people are listening, and it is their unique intersection of jazz, jam, funk, and rock that has propelled them into becoming one of the fastest growing bands in New England. SixFoxWhiskey has held featured spots at major festivals like Levitate Music & Arts Festival, Rhode Island Music & Arts Festival, and Strangecreek, and they’ve performed at venues like the Stone Pony, Toad’s Place, and Brighton Music Hall. They’ve shared the stage with national touring acts like Ripe, The Magic Beans, Kitchen Dwellers, Kung Fu, and The Elovaters. Zach Bloomstein of 37’ Productions aptly describes what makes the band stand out: “I’ve worked with a lot of bands and seen a lot of music, and these guys are doing something a little different. They’re being themselves, which is part of what makes them unique and special.” In the end, it’s feel-good music, think-hard music, get-down music, and their latest album, Naughty Air, is the manifestation of these sensations. Their third album in four years recorded with award-winning producers Sean McLaughlin (Matchbox 20, Percy Hill, Tony Savarino) and Zach Bloomstein (Chris Robinson, Joe Perry, Chuck McDermott)at renowned Massachusetts-based 37’ Productions, Naughty Air opens with “Betty,” a funky song that highlights the band’s strong melodic writing, driven largely by the seemingly effortless vocals of Chris Ballerini. Naughty Air weaves through different vibes, ranging from jam-odysseys that highlight the virtuosity of Dan Felix on saxophone and Brad Moreno on lead guitar in “Common Ground” and “Oh Ya!” to punchy rock jams like “Crossroads” that feature super-tight rhythmic structures from Tyler Davis on drums and Tommy Yannopoulos on bass. The album is reminiscent of Steely Dan, Vulfpeck, The Dave Matthews Band, and Dopapod. Naughty Air provides a wide range of musicality and SixFoxWhiskey is excited to bring it across the US as they tour from Maine to Colorado in 2020. “Oh ya!”- it’s going to be a fun year.

Search Add 4 King-Kill/33° Combining disorienting visuals, conspiracy mumbo-jumbo, and tautly-wound electric/eccentric rock, King-Kill/33* was absolutely one of the most exciting and intriguing groups of the Atlanta indie rock scene peak of the early '90s. Forming in the summer of 1990 in the "King-Kill house", (the band) took it's name from a James Shelby Downard essay published by Adam Parfrey in his book Apocalypse Culture. "The essay is about the Kennedy assassination" bassist Donna Smith explained in an interview with Mouth magazine shortly after the group's formation. "It has a lot of numerological and Masonic symbolism. King-Kill/33* was a plot to kill the divine king, which was seen as the only Catholic and non-Mason President in some time," to which vocalist Mitch Foy, who suggested the name added, "The essays are fascinating, there's plenty of mind food in it, but it's not something we promote. We're not anti-Mason, we're not pro-Mason. It's a starting point to play around with." King-Kill/33* released a handful of singles and compilation appearances in their three years, but they truthfully had to be experienced live to be fully appreciated. More effectively than any other local group at the time, and usually more effectively than any visual-oriented group anywhere, King-Kill utilized an armory of films, slides, strobes, transparencies, and other sorts of visual overload, projected against and behind them as they played. Add to this Foy's affinity for provoking performance art and costumes (his most memorable outfit involved crude stilts made from "blocks of wood two feet high, with some old sneakers bolted into the top of 'em", on which he would teeter above the crowd and his band mates), and King-Kill/33* was an act not soon forgotten. -Jeff Clark (Stomp and Stammer)

Search Add 4 Luc Miles Luc Miles Luc Miles have always had a particular approach with music. During his adolescence he has been attracted by afro, hip-hop and R&B music, from the great classics to the new releases. Luc had a constant musical learning and growing up he contradictorily started to approach to the electronic music world. Going often to different clubs, he quickly understood that he was intensely attracted by a total discordant musical style, comparing to his past trends. Seduced by the club culture and by the dark and hypnotic sounds of the minimal music, Luc tried to learn different techniques in order to produce his music. His experience of producer started as a hobby during the last years of high school. His real first EP "La Patineta" was published in 2009 on Alex Young's label, Kraft Records. From that year Luc started to publish numerous tracks on labels like Gomma, Malatoid, Society 3.0, Apt. International and Natural Rhythm. During the years were born also important collaborations with artists like Lucio Malatoid, Alex Piccini, Wigbert, Ian Pooley, Matt Star, Horatio and some of his tracks were played by djs of the caliber of Mendo, Ellen Alien, Josh Wink, Markus Homm, Martin Eyerer, Roger Sanchez and many others. Meticulous and perfectionist, in studio Luc selects ethnic and sensual melodies, trying to filter them in the ethics of the house and techno music. Congas, maracas and researched cymbals steadily nourish, with a cheerful and lively rhythm, the full-bodied and powerful bass line. The main suction is to bind and mix the electronic with the warm sounds of jazz and world music. Talking about his dj sets, Luc doesn't subscribe himself to a main genre, but includes all the various branches of the house and techno music. The approach with every dance floor, with a more or less numerous public, is to create a warm, harmonious and festive groove through an instinctive and well-balanced selection of LPs.

Search Add 4 Hugo Wahrlich Hugo Johann Christian Andreas Wahrlich German-born viola player and conductor (b. January 1, 1856 in Kassel, Hesse, Germany – d. January 23, 1922 in St. Petersburg, Russia (then called Petrograd)) Wahrlich, known in Russian as Гуго Иванович Варлих (Hugo Ivanovich Warlich), played first viola with the Mannheim symphony orchestra from 1874. In the late 1870s, when the orchestra toured Russia, he remained in the country, working first as a viola player. In 1888, he became Second Assistant Conductor of the Imperial Court Orchestra ([a=Императорский Придворный Оркестр]) in St. Petersburg. After increasingly replacing its main conductor, Hermann Fliege, for important performances, Wahrlich completely took over the direction of this orchestra in 1907, after Fliege death. In 1902, when the orchestra began to give public performances, Wahrlich started an annual concert series introducing new works by Russian composers. In 1909, for example, Wahrlich directed the Russian debut of [a= Alexander Scriabine]'s "Le Poème de l’Extase." Wahrlich himself composed the march Наследник Цесаревич (“Naslednik Tsarevich”) in honor of Grand Prince Alexei (1913). Around 1903, Wahrlich conducted the Imperial Court Orchestra on several recordings for [l=Columbia]. Later, he also recorded for [l=Amour] and [l=Zonophone]. After the Russian Revolution, Wahrlich was allowed to stay on for a while with what became Soviet Russia's first philharmonic orchestra, but only as Assistant Conductor. From 1919 to his death, he conducted military brass bands in Petrograd.

Search Add 4 Fritz Vogelstrom Vogelstrom was born on November 4th, 1882 in Herford. He undertook is first small part at the age of 14 in Robert und Bertram (play with incidental music by Gustav Raeder) as "Schildwache" at the Herforder Stadttheater. In 1898, Vogelstrom joined a male quartet "Sänger von Finsterwalde". When performing with the group, he was heard by the director of the Hamburg opera who proposed him a contract. However, Vogelstrom was drafted at that time and instead of going to Hamburg, he went to Hannover. Vogelstrom had an accident and was released from service. He joined another quartet "Rheinisches Männerquartett" in Mannheim. The director of the Mannheim opera, August Bassermann, heard him and asked him to audition. His audition was on November 23rd, 1903 and as a result, he got a five year contract. His first parts in Mannheim were Max, Tamino, Alessandro Stradella and the Seaman (Tristan und Isolde). The number one heldentenor of the Mannheim Opera Friedrich Carlén died, and that was Vogelstrom's big break. He added Lohengrin, Stolzing, Siegfried, Tristan to his repertory. For his last performance in Mannhein, Vogelstrom choosed Pedro. In 1912, Vogelstrom went on to Dresden. He was warmly welcomed in Dresden because their three heldentenors Burian, von Bary and Sembach where not able to sing for different reasons. He made his debut in Dresden as Max. There, Vogelstrom added Bacchus, Hans Kraft (Bärenhäuter), Kaiser, Gomella (Sonnenflammen) and a part in Hand und Herz to his repertory. He also added Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Canio and Turiddu (on the same evening, where he received 42 curtain calls), Herodes, Rienzi,..etc. Vogelstrom made many guest appearances, for example: 1908, he was in Dresden for the first time, before becoming a member of the troupe, replacing Burian in Tiefland, followed by Carmen and La bohème. 1909, Vogelstrom made his debut in Bayreuth as Froh on July 25th. He was supposed to sing Lohengrin, but intrigues behind the scene, by the wife of Bary, made sure he did not appear. However, Vogelstrom appeared as Parsifal on July 31st and August 8th. The same year, he also sang in Vienna. 1910 Berlin (Stolzing), 1911 Nürnberg (Stolzing), München (Stolzing), Essen (Lohengrin) 1912 Essen 1913 Hannover (Lohengrin), Bielefeld (Lohengrin), Nürnberg (Siegfried) 1922 Zoppot (Siegfried) Vogelstrom continued to sing in Dresden until 1928. He died on December 25th, 1963 in Köthen, after having lost all his properties in the bombing of Dresden where he lived during the war. Vogelstrom recorded for Gramophon, Odeon, Pathé, Vox, Homocord and Parlophon: a total of 125 sides.

Search Add 4 Gribojedow Gribojedow is an ephemeral group. It appears on the stages of Toruń for over 20 years, constantly changing lineups, ideas and image. Still half a step between debut and routine, between underground and local sky. There were "ethnic", "free", "electronic" and finally "song" years in the band's history. Always a little bit in their own way, a bit against the tide, a little different.
