Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 24/10/2024
Found 596840 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.
The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.
These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.
Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.
Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.
There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.
One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report
We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.
Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?
Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

If it's not done there then it's during his night shift at a nearby roadside hotel. What is most noticeable about Tired Moth's outsider-style is the mysterious tones it takes through the combination of field recordings, lo-fi drum patterns, and fuzzy ambient guitar drones. It's all of that and more to create an outsider-art perspective on what could easily be an eerie score to any David Lynch production. |

Search | Add | 4 | The Legitimate Excuse | The Legitimate Excuse (TLE), TLE was formed in 2001 in Pennsylvania by me and my great friend Nick Onorato. After recording an EP "Always The Last To Know" and an LP "For Reasons Left Unsaid" on our own in a storage shed, we decided to move the band to Baltimore, Maryland where bassist Phil Sweeney and drummer Kris Gobeil hopped on board. In the summer of 2002 we drove down to Florida and entered our first real studio where we recorded the full length record "Pathetic, Ordinary" (which is where the Alesana song title derived from. It was my way of paying tribute to TLE). After playing shows for over a year, Patrick Thompson (guitarist of Alesana and my co-writer for the last 9 years) joined the band where he actually played his first ever rock show. Not too long after, the members of TLE parted ways, some to finish college, others to start new projects. Shawn - lead vocals/guitar/keyboard Nick - backup vocals/guitar Phil - backup vocals/bass Kris - drums

Search | Add | 4 | Kira B.M.J. | Kira Römer | Piano player, composer and vocalist Kira B.M.J. first based on pop and classic, started in 2006 introducing electronic music. With composing melodies for some trance tracks she started as a creative behind, co-operated dreamy trance tracks together with Steven Liquid and started their own after that. This releases more based in the chillout and ambient genre what you can hear on compilation releases “Sunset Cruising” and “Relaxing Beats”. Her first solo-album “Stories, Thoughts, Surroundings” created a wonderful journey through her sound surroundings, telling stories with her songs and sharing her thoughts with the listener in her own way of creating music and transmitting emotions. For this reason there is comparable music and artist we can describe, it is something independent you need to listen to understand and realize. So that is music where we can say “Do not copy someone, make your style”. |

Search | Add | 4 | Dr Franz | Francesco Paolini | Doc Franz or Dr Franz is a pioneer DJ in the Goa Trance movement that has retired at the age of 49 in 2016. He started his musicianship very early in life in his teens as bass guitar player and then studies conservatory as double bass player and plays rock cover first and then evolves to play jazz rock with top notch musicians...this was from 1981 to 1985. In 1985 he gets to know the electro music that was played in the very first Goa parties with electronic music. This changes his life and as soon as he is free from conscription in 1988 he gets a visa and he is off for 6 months in India - he brings with him tape cassettes with all the music (in vinyls that he records on good quality tapes)) that he can get his hands on (in those days finding "proper" party music meant spending days in record stores around northern Europe as there was not a genre up to 1994 onwards) - EBM, Disco, house, acid house, techno, industrial, etc,. He lives a great 4 years period between Himachal Pradesh (Kullu Valley; Manali area and Parvati valley), and Goa and in both location he plays alongside those that invented the genre like Laurent, Macky (to whom he will then dedicate his label - in loving memory), Vittorio, Hanuman, Rudy, Paolino, and few others....these were 1988 to 1992 seasons. After coming back to Italy he finds hard going to ive in the province and moves to London for 13 years. In 2007 founds Macky Mad House Records or MMHR - the label fades off after the first 5 CDs...but gets revived in May 2013 as "only digital" and as it is this time (Sept. 2016) is still operating and released 6 CDs and 21 digital releases (6 of which albums and the rest EPs. Retired as DJ early (March) 2016 |

Search | Add | 4 | Suicide Blitz | Short-lived project band based in Stockholm, Sweden. The origins of the band stem from an idea generated during correspondence between [a2373773] and [a740907] sometime in 2003, in which the two discussed starting a band. [a3418215] and [a1649155] from the bands [a262012] and [a650754] were enlisted, as was drummer [a652681] from Swedish band [a594752]. It wasn't until Kelly came to Stockholm in January of 2004 that the group met and had their initial practices in Stockholm's Slussen neighborhood. The band practiced and wrote at an intense pace during the next couple of weeks, and recorded their full-length LP at the end of the month. [a568018] ([a313397], [a277263], [a1046451] and many others) was initially brought in solely in the role of producer / engineer, but the band convinced him to lay down some guitar tracks, and, with the departure of Jocke due to a busy schedule, he became the bands' lead guitar player. Despite a lot of technical setbacks and logistical difficulties Suicide Blitz managed to complete the recordings and the LP came out in late 2004 on Germany's Hate records. CD and cassette versions were released as well, on Polish label Trująca Fala. During the band's short existence, they managed to play four live gigs in 2004: In Sandviken, Sweden on January 30, at the Umeå Punk Fest in Umeå, Sweden, on March 5, at the K-Town Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 25th, and at the Kopi in Berlin, Germany, on June 26th.

Search | Add | 4 | Mike Boulan | On November 13, 1994, Mike Boulan formed No Cover Productions to record James Glass. He wanted his new company to be different from other record companies. He wanted the artists to have more freedom to create better music. As a guy who spent almost ten years prior to the formation of No Cover doing live recordings for local bands, it is likely he was building towards a record company ownership without even knowing it. Mike says that in the course of doing his live recordings, he came so outraged by the tremendous costs of putting out a CD that he decided to take some classes at the Recording Institute of Detroit to see if he could do better. Studying under the legendary Motown Sound Engineer, Bob Dennis, Mike says he wound up graduating at the top of his class.

Search | Add | 4 | Diversion Voice | Sometimes to make something new appear a number of factors, which have covered an accidentally emerged in the space route, should meet in one point and form a single unit with its new independent qualities. "Diversion Voice" group was formed on the 30th of June, 2009. The members of the group are: Matvey Ushakov - guitar Ilya Bolkisev - saxophone, electronics Dmitry Krasov - guitar, percussion Ivan Dorokhov - bass Alexey Kryuchkov - drums Different music preferences of the group members provided a fertile field for experiments. "Diversion Voice" perform instrumental music that is close in style to progressive, atmospheric, psychedelic, rock. By the time "Diversion Voice" emerged, the musicians had already worked well together in other music collectives. They all used to be members of the "Kitaygorod". Alexey Kryuchkov and Matvey Ushakov take part in live performances and help Felix Tokarev and his group "Offшоры" by the studio work. Ivan Dorokhov is a member of "The Danke Schon" project. Ilya Bolkisev makes sets with DJs. Dmitry Krasov performed with the "Global Beat School" and now is a part of "Udalennie Faily" group (which later joined Alexey Kryuchkov and Matvey Ushakov). There is no ideological leader in "Diversion Voice", who would direct the creative process to a particular course. Instead of that, the directing vector of the group is a tacit rule: to keep those musical variants, that give the best fit for all the members. A result of such collective work are unusual compositions that you can hear at live performances.

Search | Add | 4 | Alfonso Soliano | Excerpt from "Play it Again: The Music of Alfonso Soliano - A new album pays tribute to a legend of Malaysian music" By Ling Low and Syahir Ashri "A portrait of Alfonso Soliano hangs above the piano in their family home. The portrait, it is said, serves as a reminder to present members of the current family to never let the music die. Luckily, there doesn’t seem much chance of this happening: the Solianos are the Longest Performing Group (Family) in Malaysia, according to the Malaysian Book of Records. Rachel Guerzo, Soliano’s granddaughter, first started performing as a child. She now performs as a jazz singer and pianist around KL. This year marks 25 years since Alfonso Soliano’s passing. His influence may not be widely known today, but he arguably influenced the sound of modern Malaysian music more than any other one man. He was leader of the Radio Malaya orchestra and later conductor of the RTM Orchestra. He introduced the sound of bebop to the country. He was the mastermind behind many major local artists of the 1970’s, including Sharifah Aini. In his own day, Alfonso Soliano was a household name. Today, you might struggle to name one of his songs. But Rachel hopes to change that. She has just released an album, entitled Alfonso 25, that pays tribute to her grandfather and brings many of his songs to a new audience. “When I first had the idea for the first project, I wanted to show how timeless the music was and I wanted a diversified group of musicians so that we could showcase the music to different genres,” says Rachel. She selected different Malaysian musicians from different genres to interpret the songs for the album, including Ali Aiman, Lokman Aslam and Bihzhu. “We have hip-hop, we have EDM, we have folksy indie music and then there’s us [The Guerzos] which is more jazz rock. That was the whole idea, to have a diverse group of musicians.” In his lifetime, Soliano himself worked with a variety of musicians and genres – from grand orchestras to small bands playing in nightclubs and dance halls. According to musical historian Saidah Rastam, his compositions of off-beat jazz (or bebop) were at first baffling to KL’s audiences, but soon caught on. He was multi-talented: incredibly fluent in traditional Malay music styles like bangsawan, while also being able to interpret these for a symphonic orchestra. For Soliano, music was in his blood. In colonial Malaya, the British couldn’t find enough musicians who knew Western styles of music. So at the turn of the century, 64 musicians were brought over from the Philippines – somewhat ironically – to start a state band for Selangor. Soliano’s father was one of these Filipino musicians, and he settled in Malaya and started a family. Alfonso was born in Singapore in 1925 as the youngest of 17 children. Many of the family became respected musicians of their time and frequently performed together as jazz music grew in popularity. “Jazz was so prominent then, it was kind of like the music of the day. It’s kind of like what hip-hop is now. It was the contemporary music of the 50s,” says Rachel, who today performs with two of her brothers, Don and Dado, in The Guerzos. At just age seven, Alfonso Soliano – known as Nonong to his family – started performing around the country in a touring troupe. As he grew up, his career took him from colonial Malaya, through the Japanese occupation and into independent Malaya. But in his prime, he was forced to leave the very land that he called home. In the 1960’s, critical voices pressured Soliano to resign from Radio Malaya, where he was a full time conductor and arranger for the orchestra. According to Saidah Rastam’s research, this criticism was partly motivated by Soliano’s religion (he was not Muslim) and the Western influence of his music. Soliano ended up moving to Bangkok for several years, but his pride was wounded to the point that he refused to return to collect an AMN award in 1966. It was only in 1973 that Soliano was persuaded to return to Malaysia to work for RTM. However, his health soon started to deteriorate and he retired after suffering a stroke. Rachel herself was with her grandfather when he died."

Some of his most notable appearances have been at Deutschlandfunk’s “Forum Neue Musik” and in the Bayerische Staatsoper’s series “XX/XXI – Neue Kammermusik”, to whose promotion he has dedicated himself. His compositional style is influenced by microtonality, percussive timbres, and sliding sounds. Some of the focal points in his work are time and space, classical philosophy, literature, mythology, and cosmological questions. Dominated by strong rhythmical impulse and experiments with electronic sounds, his music borrows elements from ancient greek tonal systems and rhythmic patterns.
