Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 10/01/2024

Found 593861 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 4 OO Soul OO Soul Formed in 1994 and based in Long Beach, CA, OO Soul is a gritty reflection of the diverse urban culture they hail from. With its notorious reputation for the seedier side of life, it’s no wonder that the local underground has chosen OO Soul as its soundtrack. The music of this “Eight Piece Brotherhood” funks so hard that it will take two washings to get its smell out of your threads. Founded upon the simple premise of creating a live dance band, OO Soul blends classic soul, R&B, and Latin grooves — reminiscent of the JBs and War — all updated nicely with a young, fresh, aggressive edge. Instrumental Soul, Funk and Latin (Afro-Cuban). The artist's name is two zeros, a dash then Soul (like 007 James Bond). OO-Soul has been used in several song names and at least one movie title.

Search Add 4 Chaoskeeper Electronic/vocal/rock band from St.Petersburg, Russia. Started by Artyom and Sheez in 2012 with numerous experiments with sound as an attempt to make something trip-hop-like with overdriven guitars and strings but turned out to sound heavier and darker. The band came to life officially in 2014, publishing their studio-live video "Monsterize". Just before they released their first album "Personal Effects" in 2015, Eggor had joined the band and helped finishing the last song on the album — "Eleven". The second album "Misplaced" was composed by the trio and released in 2018. After that the band unintentionally took a half-year pause, and only appeared to the public again to play a number of semi-acoustic live shows during the summer of 2019. One of that shows happened in Reykjavík, Iceland. Then the project was seemingly put on pause again.

Search Add 4 David Roof David Roof As with many engineers, founder/engineer David Roof's fascination with sound came in high school while discovering music from the Beatles to Wynton Marsalis. The range of sounds coming out in the 1980s as he was growing up was amazing. The Beatles "Recording Sessions" book came out teasing what was possible in the studio. From modest beginnings of bouncing sound back and forth between two cassette decks with a Radio Shack mixer and microphone grew over the last 30+ years to today's ever growing arsenal of ProTools and reel to reel tape. David's background includes classical training at the University of Michigan School of Music. He has been an in demand performer on bass, guitar, and more. Classical training, with thousands of hours sitting literally in the middle of a Symphony Orchestra, ears are trained and attuned to the smallest nuance of musical tone, expression and blend. Great recordings are only possible with a mental image of what great tones should sound like. With decades of performance with groups from symphony orchestras, to pop, jazz and Americana, his insight into making great bands is invaluable to coaching bands, making people comfortable and capturing the emotion of your songs. David's reputation is for an easy going, positive vibe in the studio. Fast setups and editing with techniques for coaxing the best performance with the least frustration are his hallmark. The focus is always on realizing and developing your vision of your songs and sound. Rooftop is known for organic tones, live band recording, a fabulous sounding room, songwriter's production, and vintage or modern sonic approaches.

D.e.a.t.h. D.i.s.c.o. Radio program director Nico brings talent the likes of DJ Hell, Larry Tee, Mr. K-Alexi, Adriano Canzian, The Model, Mihai Popoviciu, Masstyk, Mick Wills, Play Paul, Princess Superstar, Gene Farris, Reid Speed, Salvatore Cusato, Casco, and Funky Junction among others. Nico always had a fascination with Chicago house music, and let it known through his collection of the Trax Records Chicago label. The breakup of Chicago groups from the 1990's, including Nico Flash, Future Gazers, Boys Club led to the eventual inspiration for Nico’s "Material Boy" and “Who’s That Guy” remixes that were inspired by Madonna's "Material Girl," themes. The band recently recorded under "State of The Art" Boys Club impresario transformed into the power pop personality of Nico in 1996. It was Kraftwerk's masterpiece, The Man Machine (1978), that formed the inspiration for Nico Demonte's remix of the “Man Machine” classic. Kraftwerk's "Showroom Dummies" also formed the inspiration for Nico "Mannequins in Alleys" singles. Nico (class of 1991) and rock legend Billy Corgan and lead singer of the “Smashing Pumpkins” (class of 1985) both graduated from Glenbard North High School in Illinois. While Billy Corgan was forming his first band “The Marked” in 1985 (prior to Billy Corgan forming the Smashing Pumpkins), Nico Demonte played jazz and classical music as a saxaphonist, while dabbling in electronics to find new sounds. In 1990, Nico studied acting under the teacher of Animal House and SNL actor John Belushi. In 1995, Nico and Stymie began Genesis Project Recordings in Chicago, running it out of their garage. In 1998, Nico expanded his sound following numerous trips to Zurich, Switzerland and at the legendary club Tresor in Berlin. Inspired by Berlin legends Dr. Motte, Paul van Dyk, Tanith, Jonzon, Rok, Kid Paul, Nico released “Der Auslander.” Nico’s release of his full length CD "Der Auslander" (1999) made it to the CMJ charts and was followed up by singles and remixes like the 12" EP Phantasmagoria and the remix of skylab2000’s hit “Ten Re-Entry” EP. “ This Chicago songwriter openly attributes Ministry's Al Jourgensen, Wax Trax! Records, the keyboard sequences of My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult and the industrial sounds of Front 242 as creative inspirations. During these years of late night productions and radio gigs where test promos were always the norm, Nico was further influenced by the sultry sounds of Chicago’s legendary Frankie Knuckles, Michael Serafini, Madonna, Moby, U2, and David Bowie, vowing to create his own splash on the frontier of the music scene. Following a record release party in 1997, the legendary Chicago to DJ at “Medusa’s” Nightclub. Nico DJ’s and performs live at Chicago nightclubs Vision, Rednofive, Medusa’s Mission, Ice Bar Chicago, The Dragon Room, in Las Vegas, St. Thomas and the Virgin Islands, and around the states. Nico has played alongside Felix Da Housecat, Green Velvet aka Cajmere, Tommie Sunshine, KC the Drummer, Stymie, DJ Boogieman, Phantom 45, Dan Efex, DJ Dayhota, DJ Lady D, Invisible Scratch Piklz, D-Styles and Qbert, Hyperactive, Mazi, Mark Almaria, 3D, skylab2000, and others. Nico is founder of the 8 bit pop group Commodore 64 Orchestra (www.commodore64orchestra.com). When the release of Der Auslander received radioplay on 88.7 it caught fire in the Chicago underground, and was inspired by Cajmere’s (aka Green Velvet) ghettotech single "Time for the Perculator", DJ Ron Hardy, Jesse Saunders, Devo, Adonis, K-Alexi, Mr. Lee and the genius of Larry Sherman. A pivotal point came with the 1986 releases of the House anthem of "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson, Phuture’s "Acid Trax,” and Maurice Joshua / Hot Hands Hula's "This Is Acid." Nico’s 2000 single "Collapse of Civilization" was inspired by his experience at the legendary Berlin club Tresor, followed by the sexy dance track Phantasmagoria released in 2001. In 2003, Nico Demonte remixed skylab2000’s commercial hit “Ten,” with the Boys Club club classic released in 2003. The inspiring pop sound of Boys Club was directly inspired from the vision of Telex's "Moskow Diskow," "Thomas Dolby, Gary Numan, Yaz, OMD, John Foxx, Japan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Juan Atkins and 3070 aka Cybotron, New Order, Human League, Farley Jackmaster Funk's "The Acid Life, and Men Without Hats. Nico is one of the founders of the EJ MIDI Turntable (EJ Enterprises Worldwide), specializing in the world’s first video turntable and other future music technologies. Nico’s EP “Alive” is scheduled for releases in 2005. Paris Hilton's inspiration for the classic “ATM GIRL” was coincidental. After hearing Donna Summer and the Disco classic “The Chase” by Giorgio Moroder, Astley states that Nico recognized the cultural relavence of Pop Icons like Paris and Nikky Hilton by writing his classic “ATM GIRL©®.” Astley states that a CD containing songs like the sexy synth pop anthem, "ATM GIRL©®," from Nico Demonte’s upcoming album, "Alive©®", has gone missing during his electric shock in the Chicago-based studio.

Search Add 4 Olimpia Zagnoli Olimpia is a creative female-type person born into an artistic family in Milano. She drives a Vespa and has large round glasses, but the main thing is that she can, and does, draw like an ambidextrous octopus. One with with prodigious skills, and a doppio espresso. She has been called a “millennial stronza” by a certain green-eyed monster of a certain age. Okay, she’s replaced me, but I can’t help but like her. She’s so good! Although she will admit to being influenced by Bruno Munari, Paul Rand and the other usual suspects, she creates super fresh shapely shapes, completely new voluptuous forms, in her own clean palette of brights and darks, flat as a pancake, baby. After graduating from some kind of design school in Italy, OZ burst upon the New York media scene in a colorful cloud of charm, humor, and easy-to-work-withiness (an essential new adjective when describing young people) in 2008. She then proceeded to take The New York Times, The New Yorker, and the New York subway system by talented storm. OZ’s bright visions pop up -and sometimes out- in all the best places, including Fendi, Apartamento Magazine, The Guggenheim Museum, and the G train. She thinks fast, draws faster, and eats spaghetti like a lady. Along with her father she has designed a line of objects, called Clodomiro, including plates, shirts and scarves, some of which are just plain naughty, and all of which are delightful. Clodomiro is her father’s real name. Go figure. – Laurie Rosenwald www.rosenworld.com OZ lives in Milan. OZ listens to T.Rex. OZ drinks Coca Cola. OZ wears stripes. OZ stands for Olimpia Zagnoli.

Search Add 4 Oxygyn We are Oxygyn, an indie-pop band based in Malta with a passion for making music that matters. Oxygyn is composed of sibling duo Kurt Abela and Katia Abela, with lyrics written by Kurt Abela, music composed by J A N J U produced by Funky Monkey and Zack on guitar. Our aim is to make music that inspires others, the same music has always inspired us, by exploring important human and social issues through song. Oxygyn was established in December 2015, with the release of our debut original single CORRODE. The song reached No.2 on Malta’s Top 10 Chart (89.7 BAY), and the music video has garnered over 14,000 views on YouTube. We followed this up with WOLVES WITHOUT TEETH, a cover version of the song originally released by Of Monsters & Men, in September 2016. In 2017, we started transitioning from acoustic and piano-based music into a more modern and polished sound that like to describe as indie-pop. We got to perform at several local music festivals for the first time, including the Farsons Beer Festival, Rock the South and the Beland Music Festival, and we also opened for Joe Roscoe during a gig in July. This evolution culminated in the release of our original single BUBBLEWRAP in November 2017, which debuted with radio play on XFM 100.2’s Big Drive Home with Trudy Kerr, and was accompanied by an elaborate music video produced by 141 Records. BUBBLEWRAP reached No.1 on Malta’s Top 10 Chart (89.7 BAY) in January 2018, and the music video reached over 11,000 people on social media in a matter of weeks. In 2020, we hope to release more original material and to continue performing it lives for diverse audiences. Search Add 4 Whitefoxx Hair / Glam Metal (Heavy Metal) band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). Whitefoxx formed in 1982. Last Line-up: Tucker Michaels: Guitar, Back Vocals Rik Anthony: Drums Tipa Sparrs: Vocals Mike Regina: Bass, Back Vocals David Lord: Vocals WHITEFOXX is known as one of the pioneers in the rise of the Philadelphia Metal scene in the mid 80s. Formed originally as PRECIOUS METAL in 1982 as a cover band, the group’s first incarnation comprised of vocalist Tony Harnell, guitarist Barry Bennedetta, keyboard player Mark Soma, bassist Mike Regina and drummer Craig Soma. As the cover scene started to go sour, Harnell quit the band and eventually winded up fronting Norwegian outfit TNT. Bennedetta went on to play briefly in the band WAYSTED with UFO’s Pete Way. In 1984 vocalist / guitarist Mark Chasen joined PRECIOUS METAL and began writing songs with Mike Regina where they traded off lead vocals. They recruited drummer Billy Sipp and in 1985 started playing out as a power trio. As the band gained notoriety in the Philadelphia / South Jersey metal scene, guitarist Jeff LaBar was added to the fold which propelled him into the local spotlight where he was quickly recruited to fill the void left by Michael Kelly Smith with Polygram recording artists, CINDERELLA. emaining good friends with PRECIOUS METAL, LaBar recommended fellow guitarist Jimmy Maropoulos to take his place. Shortly thereafter, drummer Billy Sipp was replaced with new up and coming skin beater, Jimmy “Feek” Ferraioli. Feek was young, had some monster “chops” and he brought his own special brand of humor to the band. Soon PRECIOUS METAL had to change their name when an all-girl band with the same name landed a major label record deal. This is how WHITEFOXX was born. Although Feek helped with the transition from PRECIOUS METAL to WHITEFOXX, he only stayed with the band for about a year before moving on to other projects. He was responsible for creating many of the signature drum parts in the early WHITEFOXX material, some of which remain to this day. In 1986, with a new name and new attitude, WHITEFOXX entered the studio and cut a strong, four song demo with temporary drummer Jim Drnec. This first foray featured the impressive anthem “Beverly Hills” which gained them attention in HIT PARADER magazine in the US as well as KERRANG magazine in the UK. Soon “Metal” shows on local radio stations picked up on this and started playing tracks from the WHITEFOXX demo. Shortly after this, WHITEFOXX found their missing link in drummer Rik Anthony and enjoyed the stability hey had been looking for. With this lineup of Chasen, Regina, Maropoulos & Anthony, the band went on to become one of the strongest contenders in the Philadelphia Metal scene. With catchy songs, a flashy stage show and a growing army of followers, it seemed they were destined for stardom! But, as with any group of talented individuals, it’s not always easy to stay on the same page let alone the same stage. Chasen, Maropoulos & Ferraioli went on to form the band CHASEN with new bassist Donie Bufalo while vocalist Rob Zucchi and guitarist Reggie Wu joined WHITEFOXX. Wu later went on to form the band HEAVENS EDGE. In 1987 WHITEFOXX seemed to stabilize again when WORLD WAR III frontman Tipa Sparrs joined Regina & Anthony along with guitarist / keyboardist Tucker Michaels and guitar wizard Dave Lord was recruited to fill the void left by Reggie Wu. In 1988 WHITEFOXX signed a production deal with Denny Somach Productions. The plan was for Somach to get WHITEFOXX signed to a major label to take the band’s career to the next logical level. The song “Starry Eyes” caught the attention of several labels and some showcases were set up so the record company execs would get a chance to see the band play live. At least one deal was put forth but unfortunately, Somach didn’t feel any of the offers were strong enough to produce a competitive enough product. Eventually, WHITEFOXX disbanded in 1989 when Anthony and Regina, this time as frontman, went on to form the band LIGHT YEARS with guitarist Larry Campanella & bassist Slater Clifton. In 1992 Regina, Anthony & Zucchi went back on the road again as WHITEFOXX with Larry Campanella on guitar. Chasen declined the invitation to join this incarnation due to another project he was already involved in. The plan was to play only a few shows but it lasted for a full year. In 2004 Chasen reformed WHITEFOXX for a series of shows that featured Philadelphia / South Jersey bands from the 80’s. He recruited guitarist Barry Bennedetta , drummer Jim Drnec, and a local bass player to do the show as Regina was involved in other projects. WHITEFOXX came full circle when co-founders Chasen and Regina got back together to appear onstage for the first time in over 20 years for a reunion show in New Jersey in 2012. This lineup also featured former WHITEFOXX guitarist Larry Campanella and drummer Chris Nerone. At one point in the show they were also joined onstage by Reggie Wu to perform “Beverly Hills."
