Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Thomas Jefferson's Aeroplane Deasy and Jacques both had successful bands in Pittsburgh that were signed to major labels in the late 90's. Since then, Deasy has released a number of full length solo records, had songs recorded by artists such as Martina McBride, Billy Ray Cyrus, and One flew south, wrote and performed a popular theme song for good morning America, and Published 2 novels. Jacques moved to Los Angeles, Logged some road time with Canadian Singer songwriter Chantal Kreviavuk, taught guitar to Ben Affleck, produced a number of Artists including Kina Grannis, Alissa Moreno, and Rob Giles(the Rescues), and with his band Right the Stars has landed songs in Tv and Film including a Honda spot for the CRV, Furry Venegeance, the Breakup with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Anniston, "one tree Hill", "Life Unexpected", and PBS Carriers, as well as a slew of shows on MTV The duo's debut release, "the Invisible Ocean", came out in 2008. Their sophomore effort is a sparkling gem of a six-song EP simply called "Express". It features five new originals plus a cover of the Bourgeoise Tagg song "I don't mind at all". Deasy and Jacques started the band with the idea of "no thinking, let's just see what happens". The result is something unique to TJA that neither would have done on their own. The merging of styles is sure to please fans of their previous works as well as attracting new ones.

Originally, many of the musicians had been associated with [a341395], but the orchestra underwent several personnel overhauls over the years. The orchestra was led by [a6260751], who alternated between conducting and performing on the piano. Throughout the 1920s, the orchestra broadcast over several Chicao radio stations, including WGN, WMAQ and the Trianon's own WMBB. In 1924 they performed in Davenport, IA and became the highest paid orchestra to ever play that city.

Search Add 2 Technical SHOT Yegor Rumyantsev Techno DJ-producer and artist of Technical Shot in the genre of Hard, Acid, Underground, Industrial. "Technical Shot" is a real name Yegor, was born in the Crimea, and during his school years he lived in Siberia. He grew up in a creative family, his father is an artist, and his mother is a musician. He had been gravitating toward electronic music since his childhood, but he had no opportunity to realize his thoughts because he had the opportunity to study the structure of electronic music and instruments for its synthesis. Now it is time for him to show his possibilities and his thoughts. He says: Rehearsals are over, now I understand what attention should be paid to each track and what processing and mastering should be used at the last stages of track creation. At the moment I am preparing two releases that will be released in early 2021. All tracks will be at least 155 bpm. Since it is this rhythm with industrial sound that feeds my life. In sets I don't bind myself to rules, I often experiment with mixing of 3-4 tracks. I don't like to just stand around DJ hardware, I like to be constantly at work and fully immersed in music. I have absolutely no respect for those who play a prepared set and just dance. It's time to throw such DJs in the dump! Since they are not musicians, but simple fraudsters.

Search Add 2 Charleston Grotto Proto punk band Charleston Grotto has got to be one of the weirdest, longest-running garage bands in the U.S. Formed in 1960, four young boys from the Larchmont area of Los Angeles started a band called the Fantastic Four: Rear (Danny Cohen), who sang and played chromatic harmonica, his younger brother Front (Greg Cohen) on converted bass, Bottom (John Haupenthal) on cardboard drums, and Fidel (George Bell) playing guitar. Rough and primitive the band existed in nether zone between surf and the first British Invasion and quickly name-changed to Charleston Grotto. They incorporated funk sounds into the avant garde stylings and punkish attitude. They played infrequently into the mid 1970s.

Search Add 2 Manuel Melico Salazar Manuel Salazar Manuel Maria Daniel Francisco de Paula Salazar Zuniga. Luckily for us, the baby that was baptized with this incredibly long name is currently known as Melico Salazar. Melico is the most renown Costa Rican artist of all times. He was born in January 3, 1887, son of Nazorio Salazar and of Rafaela Zuniga. His house was located only a block away from the National Theater, which is why he’s said to have been born under the awnings of the theater. In 1896 his family moved to Cartago, where they stayed for fourteen years. Melico had a prodigious talent for singing, and he took the train into San Jose every week in order to participate in the rehearsals of the choir in the Colegio Seminario. The young boy then enrolled in the Escuela Santa Cecilia de Musica, which was inaugurated in 1894 in order to replace the Escuela Nacional de Musica. The Santa Cecilia school boasted amazing professors and artists, such as Melico’s mentor, Joaquin Vargas Calvo. Salazar’s talent was so apparent to his teachers that they encouraged him to sing in several places and for many occasions. The first written praises of the young artist appeared in the newspaper “La Aurora” on december, 1904: “There has been a great revelation tonight for the audience. Seventeen year-old Tenor Manuel Salazar. His voice is potent and solid, worthy of all praise”. After this and many other favorable reviews, Salazar’s local fame expanded, taking him to all of the provinces to perform in churches and schools. This young artist’s career wasn’t meant to be limited to national praise, though. On February 6, 1907, twenty year-old Salazar traveled to Italy with a meager $84 in his pocket. Here he stayed in Milan, where he studied with important teachers such as Castegnaro and Conrado. After studying with Gala Moretti in 1911, his international triumphs began. In 1914 he met and married his wife, Angiolina Viassone Cantero, from Turin. Angiolina or Lina as he called her, was introduced to Melico by another singer and she became her husband’s most ardent supporter. In theaters where nobody was allowed to remain backtsage, Lina would stand or sit through her husband’s performance and hold a pitcher of coffee that he drank during breaks. During the 1910’s and 1920’s his international presentations increased, as did his fame and recognition. Salazar traveled with his wife and members of different operas to Cuba, Central America, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and North American cities. He also visited European cities such as Barcelona, Moscow, Leningrad, Riga and Berlin. Among Salazar’s legendary performances are: the Inauguration of the Rodak theater in Rochester in 1922, his debut in the Metropolitan Opera of New York in 1924, and his participation in the Aida Opera performed in the Polo Ground in 1937. In 1937 Salazar was ready to return to Costa Rica. Melico Salazar’s brilliant career was at its apogee or greatest height from 1917 to 1930. In 1940 however, the great tenor hardly performed, except for very special occasions and upon the request of important figures. Fortunately for Costa Rica and for all of its aspiring young singers, the National Conservatory was founded in 1941. Melico Salazar, who was and still is Costa Rica’s greatest singer was stepping down, but new talents were rising , due mostly to the Conservatory’s opening. In 1947, Melico Salazar announced his support to President Calderon Guardia, but since the latter lost in the Civil War of 1948, this cost the artist dearly. His pension was suspended by the Figueres government and Salazar wasn’t supported economically or morally until many years later. After returning to San Jose (he had been living in Cartago), Melico Salazar Zuniga, the greatest Costa Rican singer of all times, died in poverty on August 6, 1950. The man who had received innumerable applause and praise in theaters from all over the world, wasn’t appropriately honored by the Costa Rican government until 1972, when a statue of his was inaugurated in Cartago. Later, in 1979, a project was passed in order to name the old Teatro Raventos, Teatro Melico Salazar, a name which it still holds today. As is the case with most great artists, Melico had to wait until after his death to be remembered and to be immortalized. - http://www.infocostarica.com/people/melico.html Chronology of some appearances Madame Butterfly- Los Angeles. "To satisfy my desire, I leave my office and exchange ideas with communities to understand their point of view regarding behaviors that could cause health problems in our society. At the moment of relaxation, I take my guitar and I call on all the health teams available and we try to compose songs based on the problems that we find in society, focusing the themes on the sensitive problems of the community in relation to health events that concern the Ministry of Public Health. Then we go into the studio and then we transmit the finished songs to local radio for airplay. Thus we were able to compose more than 35 songs/spots in the vernacular language without biomedical jargon while respecting the content of the messages formulated by our Ministry."

Search Add 2 Slovene Folk Orchestra [a1124512]'s first enlarged polka group consisted of [a2038255] (piano), [a3969190] (Hocevar) (bass), [a8403786] (sax), [a8403783] (banjo), and [a7567198] (drums). They became the most popular band in Cleveland performing at weddings and all sorts of parties. Already in 1938, then 23 year old Frank Yankovic asked [l1866] and [l61808] to make recordings of his band; both companies turned him down, so Frank decided to produce two 78 RPM records under his own [l1969341] label. It was "Heinie" [a7705011] who took Frank and his band to the [l620848], in Downtown Cleveland. [a6834924] owned the studio. Frank was not thinking of a music career yet, so he used "Slovene Folk Orchestra" for his band name. Frank put up all the money for his first records. All 4,000 copies were sold by Mervar's Music Co. of Cleveland, Ohio, in just a few weeks. #421 [r=16520694] #422 [r=16527273] The success of these records led to the recording and release of two more 78 RPM discs in 1939, but this time, they were on the [l1445451] label and the name of the band was [a6409286]. The band members were the same as for the above releases.
