Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 16/12/2025

Found 617983 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Reuven Gadolov ראובן גדולוב For Reuven Gadolov - a dentist by profession, music is part of his DNA. Over the years Reuven wrote and created music. Now, when he feels the most ready, the album "Tipul Shoresh" is released. Along with Gadolov's strong and kicking rock style, you can also hear in the album rock with touches of opera and dark rock combined with synthesizers. Those combinations of unique musical elements plus texts taken from the experience and maturity of Gadolov's life create a dark and gloomy album, but at the same time, one that radiates optimism. In the album you can also find an amazing collaboration with the rock legend Danny Shoshan (The Churchills).

Search Add 2 Hendrik Gideonse Hendrik David Gideonse Hendrik Gideonse grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio listening to his parents' old Beatles, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane LPs, but it wasn't until early '80s when his love of punk and hardcore bands, such as the Dead Kennedys, 7 Seconds and Minor Threat, inspired Hendrik to become a musician. In 1990, he moved to Boston to attend Tufts University, where he worked for Tufts' production company and cut his teeth in live sound reinforcement and mixing. It was here that Hendrik joined his first band, Boston ska rockers [a266458]. Over the next few years Hendrik got to feel the rush of playing live and, along with the rest of the band, recorded a CD with Joe Cuneo. Unfortunately, in 1992 tensions in the band pervaded and he left the group. Gideonse continued his studies at Tufts and became a music major, studying contrabass, harmony, voice leading and music history. He ended up earning a BA and MA in music composition. Soon after graduation in 1997 he formed Nineteen, a band which he would lead and tour with until 2000. In 1998 Hendrik founded Indecent Music label and production house, which he ran out of his house. Initially created it to support releases of his rock group Nineteen, the label quickly expanded to releasing other artists. Hendrik soon found himself in the role of producer and executive producer many times over. In 2005 he became a professor at The New England Institute of Art. Today, Hendrik continues to write songs, produce instrumentals for hip hop performers and teach musicians and engineers how to improve themselves.

Search Add 2 Gisburns Gisburns were formed September 1992 out of the ashes of [a4472498] when they started playing with newcomer Wiebe, who played in Silicone Madonna. November 1992, two months after they started, the band found themselves in the punk club Parkhof in Alkmaar. They thought it would be some kind of jam session, but soon it appeared that they had been bombarded as headliner. 'It was a great moment to find out what we were worth', according to the band. At the start of 1993 it had been about four years since they had last played a real gig, but they had been jamming in their rehearsal shed. They decided to enter a band contest, not because they especially liked contests, but to get Gisburns going again. It required them to start rehearsing seriously. It worked: they became first in the final of the "Waardse Glorie" on March the 6th of 1993 at Complex in Heerhugowaard. They won a challenge-cup, which was never challenged because Het Kompleks voluntarily stopped being a music venue later that same year, and 150.00 guilders. From a review by Mark Minnema, Alkmaarse Courant, March 8, 1993: "Only Gisburns were convincing musically and as a stage act. Guitar, bass and drums kept it simple, but tight and effective. The trashy songs had enough nice turns and time changes so as not to become boring. And the band holds a trump-card in the singer and part-time guitarist, who draws all attention with his wailing voice and elastic body." Noord-Hollands Glorie Winning Waardse Glorie entitled them to compete against eleven other bands in the "Noord-Hollands Glorie" final on Sunday May 16th, 1993 in the Melkweg in Amsterdam, where winners from all local contests appeared. Gisburns won third place. For photos please go to the scrapbook. From a review by Martin Ottens, MUG, June 1993: "The band that gave the impression of being the most experienced was the last band, who have gained experienced in the squat circuit. Their music is made of sturdy rock with a prominent role for the singer, who sometimes also plays guitar solos with an intensity and feedback like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. The drummer and bass-player lay a heavy foundation, to which the other guitarist contributes seamlessly." Photo caption: "Gisburns, by many considered as favorite, became third" Muis in an interview by Joop Reurink in Kul magazine, June 1993: "I played fucking great, it's a big kick to play the Melkweg. In fact everybody tipped us as the winner. There were a lot of bookers of small youth club stages in there, and they were required to book one of the three winners, but we haven't heard anything of them yet." From the same interview: "Influences? Wiebe: 'A lot from the sixties and seventies, guitarists like Jimi Hendrix, Angus Young (AC/DC) and Eric Clapton in his good days, those kind of things'. In short: fat seventies rock. And Muis adds: 'The strongest point of Gisburns is the vocals by Martijn; when he is on stage he gives all and he knows how to attract all attention'. [..] The lyrics are completely irrelevant, they are (according to the band members) about 'absolutely nothing, most of the time they are improvised or the words are only chosen because they sound great'." After the Noord-Hollands Glorie final the band continued playing, mostly student parties and the alternative circuit of squats and small stages and bars all over Noord-Holland and Amsterdam. In squat house Emma in Wijk aan Zee they got paid with free booze and accommodation in a haystack. In a press release from that time they describe their sound as a "concentrate, that could be described as muscled, this is violent contrast to the appearance of the four gentlemen". It would also sound like a cross between Seattle and the "Palingsound" (the sound of bands from Volendam like The George Baker Selection and The Cats - please note that this is 1993, some years before The George Baker Selection were suddenly hip again thanks to the prominent place of "Little Green Bag" in the soundtrack of Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs). By 1994 Wiebe and Martijn lived and Robert studied in Amsterdam, so they could become members of GRAP, a subsidized organization of bands from Amsterdam. Thanks to this they had some shared bill gigs in respectable venues like Melkweg (December 28, 1993), the Arena (August 26, 1994 and September 9, 1995) and Paradiso (last week of 1994, where they played the big stage "like the venue was packed 'till the last balcony"). The first and final CD According to a newspaper article announcing the presentation of their first CD a lot of new material had been written since they started three years ago, and the songs had acquired more depth and the band had aged. From another article, by "our reporter" in Alkmaarsche Courant, October 24, 1995: "Emotion, passion and power. Words that guitarist Wiebe van Ginkel drops when asked to describe his band. Not entirely off the mark, as becomes clear after listening to their self-financed first CD. A pleasantly thrashing band accompanies a very expressive singer who sometimes makes you think of a tormented 'Bono' and sometimes of a melancholic Jim Morrison investigating the dark sides of the inner self. [..] 'At one point in time you out-grow the shed and then you must take the matter up on a larger scale', bass-player Jean-Paul Gazan explains. 'It's a way to break that vicious circle: no CD no gigs, no gigs no CD. And it has to do with your growing process. A painter makes paintings, a musician makes record.' [..] Remarkable between the raw guitars and pounding drums are Martijns emotional vocals. 'I don't feel like I'm a musician', says Martijn. 'As far as I'm concerned it's about expression. It is the extension of a certain passion within you, an anger that you must get rid of in order not to become very unhappy.' [..] Wiebe: [..] 'Listen to what the music does to you. One time it's sensitive, and you play like there's a fire smoldering. The other time it's all about ramming. Our songs originate while 'jamming'. It's all about the magic moment when you connect with each other.' [..] Martijn: 'I don't really understand that whole concept of writing music. Music is made.' [..] 'The problem lies not with the audience, but with the club circuit that's in a state of crisis. Venues can't book bands anymore because of noise restrictions or because of a lack of money. Radio and record companies are not interested, while our music is not even that progressive.' With their roughly 25 gigs a year they don't do all that bad though." Exit Martijn On October 5, 1997 the Gisburns played Atlantis, Alkmaar with Sil Baak of Ripping Ohio standing in for Martijn, who had already been away for some months traveling. The band hadn't played a lot because of Martijn being away, and hoped that this new beginning would mean more gigs. About the name Gisburns were named after Guy of Gisburn, a character out of "The New Adventures of Robin Hood" TV series. Gisburn is also a village in England. Guy of Gisburn of Robin Hood fame was said to have come from here.

Search Add 2 Immoral Kids French electronic music duo formed by Sean Cheneau and Citizen JiF. The project emerged in Paris in the early 2020s, within the alternative scene linked to independent clubs and queer art spaces. Their sound mixes electro-industrial and dark pop bases with theatrical vocals, building a deliberately ambiguous aesthetic—both sonically and visually. The lyrics, generally in French and English, address themes of identity, desire, morality, and cultural resistance, often explored through sound collages and intense visual performances.

Search Add 2 33 Days Originally forming in 1997 as a acoustic duo Ricky and Ed started a band called Billy Sunday. Shortly after forming they gained drummer Nathan Ross, however this was short lived. Nathan didn't want to play drums. Rearranging the band, it stood as Ricky Burdette - guitar/vocals, Nathan Ross - guitar/vocals, Ed Harris - bass. This line up held up for about a year until Nathan decided to leave the band to pursue a career in the Navy. After losing Nathan Ricky and Ed began the search for a drummer. This search lasted for about six months until they met and auditioned Brian Lipham through a mutual friend. Brian was officially inducted into the band two days after his audition. The newly formed Billy Sunday began writing songs. Roughly two months after Brian joined the band Ricky and Ed were introduced to Brian's friend K.C., who showed up one day to listen to the band practice. After hearing a few songs he asked to play with them for a while. K.C. was placed in the band that afternoon. Finally through much thought and effort the band decided on it's new name, 33 Days. After about half a year after the addition of Brian & K.C., in order to allow Ricky to focus on playing and writing guitar, Mark Phelps was added to the band to handle the lead vocals and lyric-writing. This is the band as it stands, its blend of musical styles make it a chameleon of sorts Line-Up: Brian Lipham Casey Wade Ricky Burdette Ed Harris Josh Thornhill

Search Add 2 Carl de Suze Carl DeSuze had a career in broadcasting that spanned six decades. He began his broadcasting career at WGAN in Portland ME in 1937. Four years later he landed a job that would last for 45 years: hosting the morning show on WBZ in Boston. He was #1 in the morning from 1941 until 1980, which is probably a national record. The station’s frequency went from 990 to 1030, the format went from full-service MOR (middle-of-the-road) to Top 40 (W-Beatle-Z, the Boss Sound of Boss-Town) to Adult Contemporary during his tenure. A grandmother once referred to him as “that fresh young kid who’s the announcer on the Majorie Mills Show,” a reference that dates to the 40’s. (Marjorie Mills is a 2009 Inductee in the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame). In the early days of Boston TV he also did a children’s show on WBZ-TV called “Surprize Package.” In the 40s and 50’s he was known for breaking records on the air. Breaking a record usually means you’re the first to play a song that eventually becomes a big hit. Not in Carl’s case. If he played a song he felt wasn’t that good he’d actually break the disc on the air. Listeners would hear him say, “My dear, we won’t be hearing that one again” followed by the sound of cracking vinyl. He referred to his show as “The Carl DeSuze Swingin’ Sashay” and punctuate the top of the hour ID with “Aaaare you theeeere??” In the 1960s and 70s there was a billboard on the Central Artery near Boston Garden that said, “As Carl DeSuze Riseth, so Doth Bothton.” It was true. Carl DeSuze would come to work at WBZ radio dressed in an ascot and cape. Much more than just a morning drive DJ, Carl lived an interesting life and had a million stories to tell. He could talk about his memories of the Cocoanut Grove fire, the many celebrities and newsmakers he knew or all the places he had been during his travels. After returning from a trip to Australia he would announce thew station’s call letters as “W-B-Zed.” He spoke beautifully, and with his dry wit and his love for the arts, he was always in demand as a guest lecturer. He hosted travelogue events for school PTA meetings, such as “Southeast Asia…the Tiger We Ride” (prior to the US involvement in Vietnam). He spoke several languages and also wrote articles for Atlantic Monthly and Yankee Magazine. After nearly 40 years doing the morning show on WBZ he handed the reins to long-time midday host Dave Maynard in 1980. Carl moved to a shorter midday shift and did a daily feature called “Carl’s Calendar” until his retirement in 1985. Carl DeSuze was a gifted announcer and a legendary broadcaster. He died in 1998 at the age of 83. - From The Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame
