Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 28/01/2025

Found 600568 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 6 Tony Teebo Arthur Antone Thiebaut Jr. Tony Teebo (aka, Tony Thiebaut), by age 13, had taught himself to play drums & piano, while living on the family farm, near Fort Scott, KS. At 17, in 1962, he joined the United States Air Force, right after graduating from high school. He graduated at the top of his classes in training & became a Medical Service Specialist. In November, 1963, he was Honorably Discharged, with Service Medals, Citations & Diplomas. Upon his return to Kansas, he formed his first band, “The Aardvarks,” a regional favorite for about five years. In 1968, his second band, “The New Survivors,” recorded at Hi-Fidelity Studios in Wichita, KS, on the Kan Wic Label. The bands first record, “The Pickle Protest,” written by Tony, became a #1 regional hit, & was quickly, picked up by Scepter Records of New York, New York. The record was selected as a “Bill Gavin Personal Pick,” along with “Hey Jude.” This was a first for any band from Kansas. The band’s label mates, included, B. J. Thomas, Little Richard, Deep Purple, Dionne Warwick & The Shirelles. Unfortunately, the band’s five-record contract with Scepter was cancelled after their manager cashed a $150,000 advance check, & vanished! 1970 - 1972, Tony was elected by fellow music students, as Student Director of the Fort Scott Community College, Stage & Concert band’s, as well at the largest, College Marching Band in the United States. Tony led this band down the field, at the televised, National Junior College Football Championship…the Shrine Bowl, in Savannah, Georgia, December, 1971. FSCC won against Mesa, AZ! While attending FSCC, he formed, “Shootin’ Bluz,“ with first-chair horn players from the concert band. This was a 7 piece group, & performed with a “light show,” produced by Roger Aldis…“Rogers Rainbow.“ 1972, while attending Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, Tony auditioned & was given the position of lead singer with another horn band, “The Sensational Showmen.” This group performed a reunion concert, as a Humanities For The Arts, event in 2008, & were inducted into the Kansas Music Hall (2) Of Fame, in 2009. In the mid 70’s, he was signed as a solo, songwriter/recording artist with GRT/Catfish, Nashville. GRT released several singles, with the most successful being, “Rock & Roll Cowboy,” which topped Canadian Charts. Some label mates at GRT, included, Mickey Gilley, Jimmy Buffett, Van Morrison, Kool & The Gang, Steely Dan, & The Mamas & Papas. In 1975, Teebo was elected, under his legal name, as an ASCAP Songwriter, with ASCAP advancing him several, thousand dollars, to help his career. In January, 1981, Teebo’s recording of, “Welcome Home,” was played at the White House, in honor of the release of American Hostages, by the government of Iran. 1980’s: Tony was contracted to sing four-part-harmony on a Skeeter Davis, recording, & he recorded a set of songs with Janie Fricke singing his background tracks. He was also fortunate enough to record with the famous, Bobby Hardin Singers, & Hargus “Pig” Robbins on piano. Most of his recording was done at Producers Workshop, in Oklahoma City, with additional recording at Ojas, Studio 7, Benson Sound, Them Girls, & the Dick Wilkinson Studios, also in OKC. His “Kick-N-Lick” project, began at Ojas, continued at Billy’s Band Aid in Amarillo, & was mastered at the famous Bill Rase Studio, in Sacramento, CA. Tony also recorded at LSI & Woodland Studios in Nashville. In 1992, while living in Colorado Springs, CO, Tony wrote a performance review & interviewed The Marshal Tucker Band for Steppin‘ Out Magazine. The editor was impressed, & within a month, Tony had a ten-page, weekly section in Steppin’ Out, called Western World. Over the next several years, he reviewed many performers including, Billy Dean, Mark Chesnutt, Yakov Smirnoff, Wayne Newton, Toby Keith, Fess Parker, Johnny Paycheck, Chris Ledoux, Highway 101, Confederate Railroad, Waylon Jennings, Doug Stone, Glen Campbell, Ray Stevens, Andy Williams, Roy Clark, President & Mrs. Bush (Senior), Moe bandy, John Anderson, Johnny Cash, Jim Stafford & T.G. Sheppard, & penned dozens of informational articles dealing with a myriad of subjects. In 1997, Tony was contacted by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, & contracted as lead singer with the Show Band, “Northern Lights.” The band played the main showroom, “Anchors Aweigh,” to a full-house of 735 cruisers, six nights a week. Other performers included The Captain & Tennille, &The 5th Dimension. He rates this experience as a career highlight. His first, self-recorded CD, “Timeless,” was released in 2001. This CD collected many, positive newspaper reviews & continues selling today. In 2008, he won First Place at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival, for his instrumental composition, “For The Fallen.” 2012 saw the release of his second, solo CD, “Small Consolation.,” another critically acclaimed project. Teebo’s first self-recorded, instrumental project, “Earth Touch,” was released in 2012. This project was created to draw further attention to the continued destruction of the worlds Rain Forests. His music has been used for nearly two decades, in the television series, “Pay Back,” in Spain, & his various recordings are currently being played in all European & Scandinavian Countries as well as The United Kingdom & New Zealand. Tony has written, produced & performed dozens of regional, national & international “jingles.” A few examples being, Sonic Drive Ins, Shell Oil Company, The Cox Cable Network, & The American Dental Assn. Tony’s compilation, music projects, that include Children’s & Educational Music, have sold in the millions. Tony is currently working on a Civil War Music Project, an American History Music Project, & a Children’s Book with accompanying music. Teebo has also worked in a dozen movies, television series & NBC World Movies. Tony is the owner of Jammer Moth Productions, a full-service production company.

Search Add 6 Shopping Trolley "I am unashamedly nostalgic" sings Melanie Pappenheim on the luxurious 'Bring back the Mary Hopkin days', one of 10 songs penned by John Miller on Shopping Trolley's eponymous debut album released on Hannibal Records in 1989 (Hannibal HNBC1349). Shopping Trolley was the band Miller led for several years in the 1980s and early 1990s. John Miller's work aches with a nostalgia for a golden age of English and American rock and pop music often of a somewhat off-centre variety. It is the world of the late Sixties/early Seventies and the annus mirabilis was 1971; reflected in the release by CBS of the double album compilation 'Rockbuster'; an event which Miller credits as a life-changing experience. John Miller's work over his entire career, starting with the superb Painswick Tapes in the late 70s/early 80s and continuing right through to the recent release of 'Preference', captures this era in style with a back catalogue of original songs and excellently judged cover versions. Around the age of 2 in Cobham, Surrey, John Miller began listening to records and hitting things. The lack of a drumkit partially diverted his musical inclinations from furniture to the piano, which he started learning formally at the age of 6. Gradually teaching himself to play by ear, he began making his own jazz/blues/pop concoctions and playing for various shows, concerts and plays. He had also become interested in making tape recordings using keyboards, drums, voices and biscuit tins. In 1989 he wrote and produced the 'Shopping Trolley' album for Hannibal Records, and he has created many more albums for his own 'Polenta' label featuring new and archival material. His work based in London has been highly diverse, with solo and group appearances and gigs with Stackridge, Van Morrison, Jacqui Dankworth, Simon Rackham (as 'Ornamental Balustrade') and many others. After 25 years behind his drum kit, he began developing his singing and taught himself to play acoustic guitar in order to explore classic American Delta Blues. Tim Lothar began a whole new career as a solo performer, and very quickly issued his debut-CD, Cut To The Bone, in 2006. The CD received fine reviews at home and abroad. His next release, In It For The Ride (2008), won the award for "Best Danish Blues Album" at Danish Music Awards ( the danish Grammy). Later that year he was also handed another major Danish award: "Blues Artist of the Year" Tim's touring schedule increased, playing festivals and venues all over Europe. His cd, "Stories" is a very personal album, with tales from his life. This album shows a confident, mature songwriter who has found his own style. On stage he is “in the music”. A fine storyteller with deep voice, guitar skills.

Dismal in tone and beautifully grim, "Ursula" is positively haunting." --Flossless Audio

Search Add 6 Joachim Stiller Joachim Stiller is one of many monikers used by visual artist and experimental musician [a=Mees Joachim] and is a character from a book by Hubert Lampo, namely ‘De komst van Joachim Stiller’, from which Mees’ middle name is derived. The artist has been using the Joachim Stiller moniker for many moons, though the name was only used for a series of performances, a documentary and DJ-sets prior to the release of [r=29239720] in late 2023, a project in collaboration with [a=Absolute Candor], which was their first outing of original music as Joachim Stiller. April 2024 saw the release of Joachim Stiller's debut album [r=30513193], which was released on and by the Bad Boy Jesus Tape Club ([l=BBJTC]). The album emerged from remnants of the soundtrack from a cancelled videogame and a shelved space-jazz album and were reformed as a 45 minute ambient-synth opera about 'the many states of water and what lays within'. The exhuberantly long track titles, though curtailed on streaming services, function as little vignettes to paint a scene around the audio.

Wada Shinji switched to guitar as the new drummer Tanimura Jugemu brazenly joined the group, now a 4-piece.

Search Add 6 Shiva The Destroyer Shiva the Destroyer, an experimental pop band, formed in Ft. Worth, Denton, Waco, and Granbury, Texas in the early 1990s, is the brainchild of Tony Primavera. Rising from the recent ashes of The Codependents (who were to be the ‘next big thing’ before deciding that fame and general acceptance was a useless farce) who disbanded in 1991 or '92. Discoursing on rock is pretty gay, huh? Where is Lester Bangs when you need him? Oh right, he’s dead. Shiva the Destroyer became the live version of The Can't, an improvisational 4-track project of Tony Primavera. The original idea for the group was to be an ever-changing line-up of capable local musicians, each playing a temporary role. That never worked out, considering the superstar egos of many of the Texas “musicians”. Though, there have been around fifteen members of the group besides the three principles. The music, a sort of experimental pop, is inspired by Pussy Galore, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Velvet Underground and The Violent Femmes…although none of Shiva's music sounds like those bands. Primavera always refuses to play with bands that he doesn't like, even if they are popular and the money is good. Some bands Shiva have played with are Sebadoh, Tsunami, Trumans Water, Tiger Trap, Wayward Girl, The Fireworks, Blacktop, Record Player, Pitchblende, God Is My Co-Pilot, Mudhoney, et al. The original line-up consisted of Jacky Shepherd (former guitar player and co-founder of The Codependents along with Tony Primavera who Jacky had played with in various bands since high school in Granbury, Texas. Jacky was the best guitar player around, so Primavera tasked him with the drum duties, which would lead to many a fight between the two. Lyle Darrin was an old skinhead friend of Primavera, so Primavera got him to play guitar. Lyle Darrin is now known as Stanton Meadowdale and is quite a famous and brilliant singer-songwriter in his own right. The idea of using musicians uncomfortable outside their elements gave Primavera free reign to dictate the direction of the group. Later, the original three fell apart. Lyle got a cute young girlfriend who dictated his every move and so was fired on-stage in Austin, Texas; Jacky got a heroin habit (died in 2007, RIP). Primavera took on Bryan Schmitz to play drums, sing back-up vocals, and play the occasional Fender Rhodes organ. Schmitz' musicianship, wit, and humor were so incredible that no words needed be spoken between the two. A symbiotic and instinctual force took control (Radar Love?), so that every recording and every show was perfection. The duo toured the east coast in 1996, after recording some of the band's best songs in Denton, Texas. Tony Primavera wrote the songs and played bass-chords for a while, before turning, prematurely, to guitar (in a spur of the moment experiment opening for Tsunami (some of the nicest people ever) and Versus (self-important dickheads). The lastest Shiva show took place at L'argot in Denton, Texas, after Primavera had relocated to Boston, MA. They conceded to open for the popular metal-funk band Brutal Juice, a band with which they had always refused to play, even though they were friends and, bass player Sam McCall was twice their engineer. "I hated them. I hated their sound and I hated their popularity amongst the frat Neanderthals in that area. I considered them to be playing ignorant and vulgar "beer music," which Jacky liked much. " The money and the large audience was likely the deciding factor in accepting the gig. Now a duo, Bryan Schmitz and Tony Primavera proceeded to inject copious amounts of cocaine and then guzzle Jack Daniels in an attempt to lessen the effects of the coke. This lead to what fans called Shiva's best show ever, consisting of lyrics of mumbled insults to the crowd and about only doing the show for the money, and Primavera vomiting on the crowd several times. Although this was little new for the group. Shiva the Destroyer always took a provocative stance, taunting audience members, and insulting "important" people and other bands, as well as lying to the media and creating fake interviews with the motto "Subvert, Destroy!" Shiva the Destroyer, despite their many relocations, some living in foreign countries, and line-up changes, continues to record their own brand of experimental pop music (often referred to as "spooky pop music"), releasing material mostly on compilations, as well as playing the occasional show. A self-titled "greatest hits" CD (despite the bands distaste for the CD medium) was released in 2001. Several tracks on compilations, including the song "Roxbury Station," appeared on "A Taste of Lapin," released by Thomas Nola's (of Thomas Nöla et son Orchestre) Disques de Lapin in 2008, as well as the song, "Sunday with Jacky," in Denton) on the "Rabbits in Your Stocking," comp. released in 2009. Sheki-Dol was a Japanese pop group, active from 2000 to 2002. At the time, all Hello! project acts belonged to UP-FRONT Promotion, but Sheki-Dol belonged to Green Park Music (Now called Espro (エスプロ)).They got their name from the combination of the words Akamichi Doll (赤道ドール; Equator Doll) and the phrase "Shake It", meaning girls with a hot image. The group started out as a duo with Ami Kitagami and Ibuki Ooki. They had participated in the 4th Morning Musume & Heike Michiyo Protegee Auditions (the same auditions that Matsuura Aya eventually won). They had their own radio show and performed their debut single at a Hello! project concert months before it was released as a single. They were also frequently featured in music magazines and fashion shoots. They were rumored to be "idol with contacts" as well as being rude to their fan base, resulting in fewer and fewer fans. They held a disastrous live performance where only 15 people attended. Mami Suenaga was added for the release of their second single, with Ibuki leaving shortly after (to start a modeling career under the name EVEKI) only to be replaced by Ari Sakai. They released their fourth and final single in December 2001 before disbanding in early 2002. The official reason was that one of its members needed medical attention. It was speculated, but not confirmed that Suenaga was pregnant. She later talked about this, saying she had a nervous break-down anfd anxiety attacks.
