Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 Frank Ferrell Frank Ferrel is widely regarded as a leading authority on North American traditional fiddle music. Along with his collecting, publishing, and music research, he is considered to be one of the leading American fiddlers performing today. Frank begin his fiddling career at age 8, being first influenced by his grandfather, a traditional musician and native of Ohio and West Virginia. In the early 1970’s, while teaching in New England, He rekindled his interest in traditional fiddling under the influence of local Irish, French-Acadian, and Canadian Maritimes fiddlers. Mr. Ferrel has kept active musically over the years playing for major festivals as well as local music sessions and dances. Frank has made numerous appearances on the nationally broadcast American radio series, A Prairie Home Companion, and is included on their anthology recording, “PHC Tourists.” He has performed with the legendary Celtic group, The Boys of the Lough, both as guest artist on their Scottish Highlands and Islands tours, as well as being a featured performer in numerous festival and concert performances throughout North America. His major label CD release, Yankee Dreams, was chosen by the Library of Congress for inclusion in their Select List of 25 Recordings of American Folk Music. Most recently he was featured in the fall, 2016 issue of Fiddler Magazine. In 2017 Frank was inducted into the North American Fiddler’s Hall of Fame.

Search Add 2 Nachtamt Hans Versteeg It’s all about versatility and mood for dutch DJ and producer Nachtamt. Genre comes second place to the desires of bringing ideas into actuality and his contrast of electronic styles affirms this. The music is one aspect, sound the other. Both are equally important in the creative process. His tracks are sometimes intended to portray an opinion or some dissatisfaction at the world. However, Nachtamt more often lets his ideas flow from an ambiguous creative torrent, giving the listener freedom to interpret his crafted palette of sounds and their use to conjure their own aural impressions in the mind. His musical journey begins in the early eighties. Captivated by the electronic elements and grooves of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” album and the synth sounds from the likes of Eurythmics and New Order, a youthful Hans Versteeg develops his interest and love for electronic music. And while piano lessons at an early age enhance his understanding of melody and structure, he begins also to appreciate a broader spectrum of music genres. In particular, he gets into the tougher sounds of early nineties US rap and the intensities and pace of the dutch techno scene. It is at Rotterdam’s infamous Parkzicht however, where his passion for house and techno is truly ignited and his burning desire to create his own tracks is forged. Countless weekends spent at the club listening assiduously and getting down to DJs Rob, Ludie, Ricky da Dragon and Stanton inspires Nachtamt and within a short period of time he gets his first residency at “Twilight” - a night at the club. The release of “Blue Sky” (Twilight Records) by DD Zion, who are colleagues at the club, convince him to get producing and creating. Production techniques at that point in time, are a little different to his methods used today, in that his early material is created on a Commodore Amiga and an old PC using Fasttracker - a sample based sequencing program. Nachtamt continues to use Fasttracker to produce music for over a decade while continuing his DJing around Rotterdam. In 2013, after a change of production software and equipment, he logs onto Estroe’s electronic music advice site, www.estroe-advice.com and starts the latest chapter of his story. During the first session with Estroe, Nachtamt breaks through the compositional barriers and editing limitations of Fasttracker and explores rejuvenated freedoms with his new setup. With that change comes a deluge of fresh ideas for Nachtamt. Estroe picks up on his creative talent and after a few more sessions it’s agreed that he should release an ep on Estroe’s “Rosedale Records”. His “Enhanced Awareness” ep (ROSE010) is out on December 7th 2015. And so begins the future for Nachtamt. 2016 and onwards looks bright for the journey ahead. Music, as always, plays a huge part in his life and will continue to do so.

Search Add 2 Boris Leven Date of Birth: 13 August 1908, Moscow, Russian Empire [now Russia] Date of Death: 11 October 1986, Los Angeles, California, USA Boris Leven was born in Moscow, where he first studied painting and design. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1927 and attended the University of Southern California, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1932. He went on to complete his education at the Beaux Arts Institute of Design in New York and, the following year, was signed by Paramount to work as a sketch artist and illustrator under the tutelage of the experienced art director Hans Dreier. After a three-year apprenticeship, Leven went on to work for independent producer Samuel Goldwyn. His big break came in 1937, when he was signed under contract at 20th Century Fox as fully-qualified art director and production designer. For his first major assignment, Alexander's Ragtime Band (1938), he utilised more than 85 period sets. Proficient not only with historical detail, but also instinctive about the mood or thematic requirement of a picture, he brought imagination to the look of The Shanghai Gesture (1941), Tales of Manhattan (1942) and varied other assignments. Leven remained at Fox until 1947, then joined Universal (1947-48), free-lanced, had another spell with Fox (1951-52), then worked for United Artists (1953) and Warner Brothers (1954-55). In-between, he worked privately on oil and watercolour paintings, some of which found their way into private collections, or were exhibited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Leven became best known in the 1950's for his work on the production design of Giant (1956), for which he set the scene with the indelible image of an opulent Victorian mansion, contrasting like a monolith against the broad expanse of harsh Texan prairie - providing allegorical imagery of copious human materialism vis-à-vis raw nature. In 1962, Leven won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction and Set Decoration for West Side Story (1961), a mixture of deliberately stylised theatrically-based sets and realistic New York locations. His other notable films during this period were The Sound of Music (1965) and The Sand Pebbles (1966), his work being greatly facilitated by picturesque on-location shooting, respectively, in the Austrian Alps and Salzburg, and in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Boris Leven was inducted into the Art Director's Hall of Fame in 2004.

At the age of 16, he began to compose Hardcore on a Hardware machine, but very quickly he sold his equipment and began to work with computer music. At the age of 18 he started DJing. Determined, his productions range from Industrial Techno to Acid Techno while passing through Industrial Hardcore and Crossbreed. He has produced two industrial techno EPs for Darkness Sprawls Records and recently a Crossbreed remix on vinyl for DTK Records. His DJ sets are filled with energy, rhythm, and Techno style combinations, letting the public navigate and evolve between the styles that inspire Augusti with always the same vision: Industrial and Dancefloor.

Search Add 2 Nazti Skinz NAZTI SKINZ’ brilliant concept consisted of four talented and well known personalities who only wanted to play five shows, write six songs, and release 500 copies of a crummy looking record. This, they thought, would safely undercut the probability of ultimately sucking as most bands do. As a result, they cashed all their chips in here and recorded the most brilliant single nobody’s ever heard. A one time pressing of 500 copies that vanished faster than they did.
