Discogs artists that do not appear to exist in MusicBrainz

Report created based on data in MusicBrainz as of 05/01/2026

Found 619583 artists, we show 1000 artists per page.

The report is not continually updated so may not reflect the current data within MusicBrainz and or Discogs databases.

These are Discogs artists not currently linked to a MusicBrainz artist, and we have been unable to find a potential link for either.

Many of these artists probably are in MusicBrainz in some form but they are not currently linked, the list is ordered so that Discogs artists with the most number of single artists releases are listed first on the basis that these artists would be of more interest.

Some problems will just be due to deficiencies in the Discogs to Musicbrainz artist matching algorithm employed by Albunack.

There are also timing issues as this report is not updated immediately so will not reflect recent modifications and additions to MusicBrainz and Discogs.

One issue in Discogs is they handle artist credits differently so a Discogs name consisting of multiple people is probably represented on MusicBrainz as two individuals, but we try to filter these out of this report

We have also omitted artists that are not unique in both MusicBrainz and Discogs because these artists are probably not missing just more difficult to match up.

Another issue is that some Discogs artists have multiple ids with one id just redirecting to the other, this is the case with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, do we add both links to MusicBrainz ?

Limited report to artists with at least two single artist releases for now.

Search Add 2 George Cormack George Burnett Cormack George Burnett Cormack, singer (of the variety and cabaret act Cormack and Sharp); born June 19, 1921, died June 24, 1999 The names Cormack and Sharp, splashed on billboards outside variety theatres and in hotel cabaret, guaranteed a popular, high-quality musical twosome in Scotland, England, and Ireland, for close on three decades. That was the rule from the 1950s through to the 70s, when live variety and popular Scottish revue flourished from Aberdeen and Inverness all the way down to most of Scotland's central belt. Cormack and Sharp were an intrinsic part of that popular entertainment heritage. George and his lovely brunette partner and wife Irene, a Glasgow lass who could easily have doubled for the film actress Elizabeth Taylor, became favourites with a wide audience of theatregoers all the way from George's native Aberdeen to summer shows in Eastbourne and Llandudno, and then across the Atlantic to American cities like Detroit, New York, and San Francisco. Audiences applauded them on their busy and widespread theatrical touring. But only a few of their admirers knew George's wartime secret - how, after apprenticeship as a stonemason in Aberdeen, he had joined the Territorial Army and flown on active service with the medical corps, parachuting against all the risks and dangers into Arnhem where he stayed behind to tend the wounded. This meant capture and retention in a prison camp; it was here that he used his singing talents to advantage in musical and band shows, raising the spirits of fellow PoWs with many a stirring Scottish tune. His picture in wartime uniform is held today in the Airborne Museum, commemorating those deeds of valour that make Arnhem a place-name linked for all time with bravery in air-landing combat. The Hitler war over, George went professional as a singer, winning spots in the many variety theatres then flourishing in Scotland. He joined the Lex McLean show at the little Palladium Theatre in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge, a nursery for so many showbiz aspirants, and found himself on the same bill as bright-eyed Irene Sharp from Glasgow's Lambhill. They compared singing notes, fell in love, then decided to form a double act and get married, becoming one of the happiest twosomes both offstage and on. For some years they were regular artists on the handsome luxury Cunard liners criss-crossing the Atlantic, entertaining sophisticated travellers in pre-airliner days with songs from an international as well as a truly Scottish repertoire. It was an era when stars from Hollywood and Broadway took ships, not aeroplanes, to ferry them between stage and screen jobs in Britain and North America. George Cormack taught Spencer Tracey to sing The Brig o' Balgownie, and persuaded his good friend and fellow-traveller Katharine Hepburn to learn the correct lyrics of Loch Lomond. Rex Harrison, bound to and from Broadway, was another theatrical admirer, one of a procession of thespian voyagers relaxing as audience members in a refreshing style of mid-Atlantic cabaret featuring songs from Scotland, all the more appropriate since it was being staged on a Clyde-built ship. The Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth liners became almost a second home to the Scots twosome. Later, they sailed on cruise ships around South America and to South Africa, George introducing the act in that wholesome and friendly Aberdeen accent he never lost. Illness had dogged Cormack in recent years, but he was able to appreciate and enjoy family toasts to his 78th birthday before going into hospital where he died from a severe heart attack five days later. On the 25th September 2022, aged 91 years, Irene passed away, beloved wife of the late George, sister of the late Evelyn, mother of Lee-Anne and Grandmother of Adam. Singer and performer as one half of the duo George Cormack and Irene Sharp

Search Add 2 Captain Yabaa Azongo Nyaaba Captain Yaba was the professional name of Azongo Nyaaba, who was born and raised in the dry grasslands of the far north of Ghana. He was four or five years old when he started playing the koliko (also known as the molo), an ancestor of the banjo. [a437657] of the internationally famous band [a101784] brought Nyaaba to the Ghanaian capital, Accra, and there he began performing with various groups and as a soloist under the name Captain Yaba. In 1994 he recorded his second album of traditional Fra Fra songs, this one with a modern funk band called Ninkribi, and that raised sufficient interest abroad for Captain Yaba & Ninkribi to tour Europe. After returning to Ghana, Captain Yaba continued to perform on his own and in groups, but in 2001 he died of tuberculosis at barely past the age of 30. Two years later [l132130] reissued the Captain Yaba-Ninkribi album, duplicating five of the tracks in their rough and even funkier mixes. Sleeve notes on "Yaba Funk Roots" CD album/compilation by: John Collins In his short musical career Captain Yaba captivated listeners with his two-string gourd guitar grooves, and especially with the track Yaba Funk. He makes his instrument, the koliko (aka molo or xalam) sound like the root of all funk. Captain Yaba was a Fra Fra from the northern Ghana town of Bolgatanga where the country and the culture have more in common with Sahelian neighbours than the central and coastal regions where highlife rules. Yaba Funk Roots is a reissue of his 1996 album Tinanure, produced by [a320022], the celebrated Sierra Leonean percussionist. Unfortunately Yaba died soon after that CD’s release. This [l132130] reissue has been augmented with five tracks from the original Ghana sessions, which retain the vital edge of griot funk at which Yaba excelled. Call them premix, call them de-mix, these tracks bring added delight to a type of African music which is rarely heard in the West.

Włodzimierz Borowski is widely regarded as one of the performance art pioneers in Poland. He studied art history at the Catholic University of Lublin (1952–55) and co-founded the "Zamek" art group, active between 1956 and 60. Borowski began creating his iconic "assemblages," called Artons, in the late 1950s — wall-hanging objects built of plastic, garbage and organic elements. They subsequently evolved into his Manilus series (1963) of assemblages made of mirrors. In 1966, Włodzimierz Borowski began Syncretic Shows, often cited among the earliest Polish "performance art" projects.
